I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

While I do use WLM, I use it to access POP3 and IMAP accounts as we did with Windows Mail in Vista and Outlook Express in XP/Win98. In WLM Microsoft has added Hotmail access via the HTTP protocol accounts and delta sync. Upon Googling the specific error number in your post, I found a discussion of your particular server error and a (complicated) way to tackle it using a command prompt (>): Windows Live Mail Server Error: 0x80048849 and/or 0x80048820

What it basically says to do is check the MTU of your network connection to the mail server by pinging it with different sizes of the MTU until you find the one with no packet loss, starting with 1500:
>ping 65.55.33.106 -f -l 1500

if 1500 fails, but 1472 works then reset it to 1472:
>netsh interface ipv4 set subinterface "NIC name" mtu=1472 store=persistent

To find the NIC name or verify the change, use this:
>netsh int ip show int

I've substituted the command to change the MTU to one used in this post because it worked based on the above verification command to "show" the interface: Tinypic will not load on one computer whereas the one shown in the Microsoft post did not pass the above verification test on my Windows 7 system.

Here is a link I found to an automated MTU test: http://qsextreme.com/mtutest/. That discussion says that you can add 28 bytes to the maximum size obtained from the ping test, so if the sucessful ping test occurrs with a maximum packet size of 1472, the MTU can be ... Read more

I have 2 email addresses, one through a company server, and the other a regular ISP account. Using Windows live mail 2012.

-The company email address I can not receive message, but I can send.
-The ISP email address seems to work fine although it seems like I am getting
less emails especially spam type stuff, or anything auto generated.

The servers, ports, password is all accurate. I first had this problem 3 weeks ago, online forum suggested to disable anti virus suite, so I did McAfee I uninstalled it.
So Windows Defender is running now, Windows 10. If I disable Defender it does not solve the problem.

Anyway the problem has resurfaced again. Same problem logging onto Webmail, the one account does not receive. I loaded eM Client (in case it was a live mail problem) same issue.

When I refresh for mail on the company email account I am prompted to enter my password, so I do that and hit ok, it keeps bouncing back. Says unable to send or receive password is incorrect (I can send though)
The error message is
Server Error: 0x800CCC90
Server response? ERR log in failed
then list the server name
Windows Live Mail Error 0x800CCC92
Protocol POP3
Port 110
Secure (SSL) No

Any help is appreciated.

Also when I set up eM Client it automatically attempted multiple port possibilities.

I have just purchased Acronis True Image 2015, a backup service software, and to receive email notification alerts about ongoing backups I need windows live mail information I can't find.

I am posting, with this thread, 3 .png images to show the way it is with this problem.

The first image is the Acronis True Image 2015 "Notifications" page that I need to fill in to receive email notification alerts about current backups.

The second image is an image I found through an online search that shows a "Properties">servers dialogue box for Windows Essentials 2012, I'm guessing, because the in app image references are the same as what are in my windows live mail. This dialogue box seems to have all the information I need, but...

The third image shows my own windows live mail account "Properties">server box, and it shows none of the needed information that is shown in the dialogue box found online.
The source of this information is at the link below:

Hello,
I recently had to upgrade my Windows Live Essentials products on my Windows 7x64-Bit Home Premium laptop and this included updating Windows Live Mail, Which was part of the latest deployment released by Microsoft.
However, I have ran into multiple issues with the latest build of Windows Live Mail 2011, After updating it to the latest build in my laptop. The latest update, Is causing errors stating that it could not communicate with the server, In order to check/receive
messages in my inbox.
But when I go to the name of my e-mail, And then click the send/receive button in Windows Live Mail, it will receive the messages for both of my accounts linked to it successfully.
The other problem I have come across is with the system stating that there was a script error in the page and if I wished to continue running the script.
I use the following software if it helps with diagnosing and resolving this problem.
Kaspersky Internet Security 2011
Malware-bytes AntiMalware
Spybot Search and Destroy
Note: The above I did run tests on for issues and none were detected.
Any assistance appreciated, and Thank-you for your time!

A:Windows Live Mail Server Connection Issues

Hi,

I use Windows Live Essentials 2011, and I don’t met the same problem on my side. As a test, you could reinstall WLE 2011,then check the problem again.

If the issue persists, you may try to perform a Clean Boot to check whether some software confliction or security software blocking caused this problem.

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929135

Note: Clean Boot is a step of troubleshooting, we can go back to normal by running MSCONIFG.

Since this is a Windows Live Mail related problem, I also suggest that you may access Windows Live support website to get more information about this issue.

Hi,

I have been using WLM for some years. Yesterday, it stopped sending emails and now just leaves them in the Outbox. Here is most of what appears in the error box:

The message could not be sent because the server rejected the sender's email address. The sender's email address was '[email protected]'.
Subject 'Newsflash'
Server Error: 553
Server Response: 553 Sorry, over your daily relay limit.
Server: 'smtpout.secureserver.net'
Windows Live Mail Error ID: 0x800CCC78
Protocol: SMTP
Port: 80
Secure(SSL): No

I don't send many emails and don't send emails with large attachments, so I don't know why the "over your daily relay limit" message appears.

Port 80 has worked for a long time and works (sends emails) from the other computers on the network, so it doesn't seem like I should need to select a different port number.

The "My server requires authentication" box is selected/ticked.

None of the settings have been changed for a long time.

Our ISP is GoDaddy.

Thanks for any advice.

The only free way I know of that you can do this with Windows Live Mail is to maintain a common Hotmail account or a Gmail account configured to use the imap protocols (intructions for setup included in the Gmail account settings). The way both work is that the account is kept current on the web and then that is shared and syncronized with each copy of Windows Live Mail configured to use that one web account.

My wife and I have been using WLM for email and Calendar for a number of years. We have a Laptop running Vista and a Desktop running Windows 7. We use this as an email client although we use Rogers Yahoo Email. Both email accounts (Dianne and Andrew) are set up as POP3 and are functioning properly. But the Calendar and Contacts which have been syncing between the 2 machines up until about 2 weeks ago are no longer doing so. When WLM is open and I sync on all email accounts there is no problem. But when I press Sync Everything an non-specified error occurs and the Calendar and Contacts are not syncing either with the other computer or the Outlook.com site account

This happened in mid August as well and I logged in to our Outlook.Com site account and reset the sharing permissions to Co-Owner and that seemed to immediately solve the problem.
I have tried the changing the same setting a number of times this past two weeks and have not had any success.

I do not think that this is machine specific because we can make a new Calendar Entry on the laptop and it does not appear at Outlook.com nor on the Desktop. Same for the reverse. A new entry in the Outlook.com Calendar does not update on either machine

Any suggestions?
Thank you
Andrew

If you've moved the DB path to a new location, click OK to reset the db path to that location. Otherwise click cancel to proceed, any existing messages found will be available under orphaned accounts. (0x00000000. 2)

I click cancel and then this message pops up.
WLM could not be started. The app was unable to open WLM message store. your computer may be out of memory or your disk is full. (0x80070002)

I have almost 425GB Free on the HD so I doubt that's the issue.

I'm not sure what happened. The computer did not shut down abnormally and previously about a few hours ago I opened it just fine. So I'm not sure what caused the error or how to fix it. When I go into uninstall WLM I can't find it or Windows Live program to uninstall that. Windows live came pre-installed with the computer.

I've done searches on these specific errors but they are always somewhat different with different error codes and mostly on Visa machines. So I was hoping that someone here might have an answer. I did try deleting the WLM message database to see if it would fix it, and it hasn't. I still get the same error.

Hope someone can help or point me in the right direction.

Thanks
Mel

A:Windows Live Mail Error

It is listed as part of windows live essentials. If you plan to uninstall you may want to use this:
Revo Uninstaller Pro - Uninstall software, remove programs, solve uninstall problems

It is considered the best by many at the Forum. The free version works only with 32 bit

It may be best to uninstall and then install it, again.

Windows Live Mail - Error
W7 Home Premium SP1 & WLMail 2011, build 15.4.3538.0513

Each time WLM finishes searching for new messages it gives the following error window:

The error always shows up on the last email account installed. I proved this by uninstalling two accounts & reinstalling them in reverse order.

Image 3 - error shown with Gmail account removed.

If all news groups are prevented for searching for new messages the error does not occur. Of course this means that the News Groups are not updated.

Can anyone throw any light on the matter please.

Regards
Davii

It probably is. that error code is a server rejection. Usually for user id or password. Can you check yours are correct. Also, are you supposed to to be using smtp? Im using Live and dont. let us know

I started getting this error message suddenly when using Windows Live Mail:

Unable to send or receive messages for the Msn (solarguy48) account.
Server Error: 0x800488EB
Server: 'https://mail.services.live.com/DeltaSync_v2.0.0/Sync.aspx'
Windows Live Mail Error ID: 0x800488EB

I can still access my email through msn.com, but it does not have as good an interface.
How do I enable WLM to operate correctly?

I use Windows Vista 32-bit, but it seems to occur in other operating systems in the forums I have visited.

I use Windows live mail from my desktop to connect to my IMAP account. I can receive mail but I can not send mail. When I try, I get the message:
Connection to the server has failed
subject"my schedule"
server pop.siegel.....
windows live mail error ID: 0x800CCC0E
Protocol SMTP

Secure SSL: Yes

I need any help I can get!!!

server pop.siegel.....Click to expand...

That doesn't look like a valid server name, and outgoing email servers don't typically have "pop" as part of the name.

I recently got a new computer with windows seven. I tried windows live mail and it opened with no problems. I then used windows easy transfer to move my files mail etc from my old computer which was using XP but I was already using windows live mail on that computer.

The transfer seemed to go fine however when I tried to open windows live mail I was greeted with the following message:

"Windows live mail could not be started. The application was unable to open the windows live mail message store. Your windows live mailbox data is currently being used by another program, such as a virus scanner. Close the program or wait for it to complete its operation, then open windows live mail again. (0x800c0155, 2)".

The only option on this error is to press OK and then there is no further information.

I first decided to remove mcafee and norton trials that where on my computer but this had no effect.

I then reinstalled windows live mail onto the new computer which, had no effect.

I have used task manager to look for and stop any processes that look a bit suspect however, this didnt work although I may be missing something.

I have tried running windows live mail as administrator but again no effect.

I am convinced this may be cause by the 'easy transfer' however, I am not sure how. If somebody could show me a way of removing the files that were transfered I might give this a go.

Thanks in advance!

Danny

The message above states that it MAY be a server problem, which you can do nothing about, only your ISP can.

Servers have been know to have hiccups just like any desktop or laptop.

If the email access is there most of the time, then it is a server error or your connection to that server is not being made at THAT time. Waite a while and try again.

I have finally fixed the Win Live Mail problem. I went to the windows firewall and brought up advance settings in the left column. I then brought up inbound rules in the left column.I then clicked on new rule in the right column.I clicked on program and then next.I clicked on all programs and then next.I clicked allow connection and then next. I checked Domain, private and public. Under name I typed ATT.NET and finish. It now works .
