IdeaPad Flex 15D

Q: IdeaPad Flex 15D

I've bought a Lenovo IdeaPad Flex 15D in the summer of 2014, last year it was sent in warranty for problems at the battery (it wasn't turn on with the battery)After that they returned me the Computer I found that the touch wasn't work, I tried to restore it 'cause I don't wanna send him again in warranty (and now the warranty is expired).I also restore it again, but the touch doesn't work yet.Can I do something to repair it? I'm from Italy.PS: the computer say that there is the touch, that I can do the calibration, but if I touch the screen the PC don't find it.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

My first post here and not sure if I?m in the right section.  I ordered yesterday from MS Store an IdeaPad Flex 5 (80XB0006US) and searching the web for a users guide / maintenance manual to read while I?m waiting for the unit to arrive, I only find ones dated back to 2015. Is there a place I can download a more recent one?

Hi oskarIT,

Welcome to the Community Forums.

Checking with the MTM/ model machine number, 80XB0006US showing Flex 5-1570 Laptop (Lenovo) - Type 80XB I was able to get the User guide here (First Edition February 2017) and hardware manual here (First Edition March 2017) from the support site (you can save in your browser favorites as a handy source for drivers and applications for the model).

The same support site would also be updated every now and then for any new updates and resource materials to download.

Hope this help answer your query.

Hi SmileSmoke,

Have you contacted Lenovo Support and spoken to them about your situation? Did you contact them when the unit was returned to you to log the fault?

If you did for the second question then they should be able to help you and repair under warranty as it would be a failed repair.

I've had my Flex 4 for about three months now. It worked fine last night but when I went to turn it on today the keyboard lit up and turned off repeatedly but the screen stays dark. The power light goes on and off with the keyboard but the light that says it's charging stays on. I can occasionally hear the fans kick on when the keyboard lights up but it turns off when it goes dark and they don't go on every time. It's not overly hot and I know it's charged. I've held down the power button and I tried using the Novo button and it didn't do anything. I've tried taking out the AC adapter out and holding the power button and then plugging it back in again with no success. Anyone have any advice?

I want to add a HDD on my Ideapad model 80XB0006 and although the manual shows how to remove both SSD and HDD there is no spec on the HDD. Since I will order online I must have a model / type which will fit on the space I have. Now I have a SSD 256GB. I did have a chat this morning with Lenovo rep but gave up after I got nowhere. Thanks

A:Adding HDD to Ideapad Flex 15

Hi oskarIT,

Greetings.

Using the model type 80XB here on the parts lookup page shows compatible harddrive :
Part number: 16200383 ST500LT012 6G 7mm 5.4K 500G HDD
Part number: 16200554 WD10SPCX-24HWST1

On the same page would also show a number of substitute harddrives too that you can use as described here on the hardware manual page 36.

Hope this help answer your query.

I have been trying to PXE boot and have not had any success. I can see where it says start ipv4 pxe boot, then a flash on the screen like it attempted then goes to start ipv6 pxe boot and that is where it stays. I've turned off secure boot in the bios, tried to use a usb to network adaptor. No success. Is there a special process to pxe boot?

A:Ideapad Flex 4 won't PXE boot

Sounds like the problem may be with you PXE server either not reachable, or is not passing the proper Network Boot Program files to the client.

Hello there, Not really sure whether this is a topic that i can post here on this particular section. If it is against the rule, please let me know i will removed it.  Earlier this year( around January) I purchased a ideapadd Flex 4 from the Microsoft store around my house. Everything is fine, until one day my screen started to go black and sometimes the screen color become very very red. I took the laptop to the store before i went back. The store told me that it is because the laptop's screen itself is kind damaged which require me to send my laptop back to Lenovo to fix the screen. When i bought my computer, I also have the one year warranty with this computer. My question right now is is it possible for me to say instead of asking Lenovo to fix the screen, can I say exchange this laptop for a new series? what I mean is I saw the Lenovo Legion online and was thinking is it possible to say i send in my old one and get Lenovo Legion and any price difference between the two laptop i will just pay? it is just that if i do send in my ideapad to Lenovo it will take 2 weeks for them to fix and i really really tried to avoid that because my class is about to start and without my only laptop for more than a week is a bit of stretch for me. I see that for me to order the Lenovo laptop online will approximately take them 3-4 days to ship If this topic is not ok to post here please do let me know and if this issue is better for me to talk to a representat... Hello! So I've been having this issue where my laptop keeps freezing an hour or so into using it. I've checked my storage space and my ram and it's all ok. My laptop isn't overheating either as I have a table with a fan built in underneath. I'm not sure what's causing the problem. I can move my mouse and my music still works but my screen is frozen. I'm also unable to alt tab or use ctrl alt del. I've resorted to having to power reset everytime my laptop fails.  Please advise me on what to do and thank you very much!

I have had this device for 13 month. 8 months after I purchased it, I worked with Lenovo to diagnose a problem with the power cord and that was replaced.  One month after warrenty expired, device would suddenly power off, but would power back up, with or without cord. After approximately 1 week of this, it would only stay on with power cord attached even though battery indicated full.  Then suddenly would no longer turn on. Tried to use my extended warranty thru Costco. Was sent in to their repair station in Lawrenceville GA. They reported to Costco that there was water damage (which Costco won't cover without my having purchased another different warranty from them) and that the repair amount was over $700 (more than I paid for the machine).  I am a former IT employee, now retired, and I have NEVER spilled anything on this device. I cracked the back open and looked for damage or for any tags that had changed color on motherboard, or a possible detector on motherboard that had changed color.  Don't see anything - no corrosion.  Just prior to machine not turning on again, I connected to the Lenovo diagnostics and ran the dx on this laptop.  It showed no errors.  Are there any water exposure stickers on this device?  and what would indicate water damage?  thanks for any assistance

I have been trying to register my new Lenovo Ideapad Flex 4-1470 on the Lenovo website for nearly a wekk now.  I am stuck at the part where it asks for you to enter the Product KEY.  Now, I was under the notion that product KEYS were mainly only used for softwares.  I first thought maybe it meant the product number.  I have searched in evry forum, blog, post, search site, Lenovo app, paperwork, you name it, and can not find either of these for this laptop.  I then used the support chat on Lenovo's website and asked a CSR who proceeded to tell me that it is in fact a product "KEY' I need and that it is given to the buyer at time of purchase.  He also told me that when purchasing from the Lenovo website that it is emailed to you.  Unfortuantly, I did not purchase it from there, but at Best Buy instead.  But the CSR in  the Support Chat assured me that this "Product KEY" is required to register the laptop and it is given at time of purchase.  Can anyone help me here - is it printed on the receipt?  Maybe on the one (1) measly little folded paper that came with the laptop in the box (which I have checked about 30 times and there is nothing very useful at all on this scrawny paper) ?  And, is it me, or has Lenovo's product support gone straight down the crapper?  Seriously, no TANGIBLE product information included in the box???  And the Lenovo Apps are a joke, and bad ones at that (crickets chirpping in the back... Now, in the setup utility info tab, the hdd is recognized correctly (showing the model ST500LM000-SSHD-8GB) The problem now is that the issue persist. I changed the following option to make sure I was able to boot from USB:Secure boot: DISABLEDPlatform Mode: Setup ModeUSB Boot: Enabledbut if I try to boot from USB with Windows 8.1, Windows 10, Ubuntu, Lenovo UEFI Disgnostic I get the same error. No Bootable Device. The usb pen is not reconized. If I press fn+F12 the boot manager doesn't display any devices. Even in the Setup Utility the UEFU Boot priority order is grayed out. Help, what can I do? Any idea?

I have a new laptop that should have, according to the add, 512G ssd. In fact, when I check the total size of the drives - C has 384G out of only 326 are free, and D has total of 48 out of only 45 are free. that means total of 432 G and only 371 for my use.
Does this sound reasonable to you? does it make sense? should it be this way?
appreciate your kind advise,

Hello. I have had my Flex 5 for about a year now and it has run well up to this point, but yesterday evening I noticed that the battery was not charging while plugged in. I am using the AC adapter which originally came with the laptop. When plugged in, the battery status icon very rapidly (on the order of 1-2 seconds) cycles between "Plugged in, charging" and "Not plugged in," with the battery status light on the side of the computer blinking white accordingly, for about 1 minute before finally settling on "Not plugged in" with a blinking red battery status light. Unplugging and plugging the adapter back in repeats this cycle. This renders me unable to charge the laptop for any extended period. I am unsure what to do next as the battery is interior and not easily removable.

I bought this latest 8th generation laptop in January 2018 and for first 4 months I did not use it. As I began using it, it started flickering the screen. Initially I thought it?s a Windows issue so I did reset it, but the problem did not solve. So, I sent it to Lenovo, which wasted my 15 days. When I received it, i worked perfectly fine for 1 week. I did not want to ran into issues again so I stopped using its 2-in-1 mode, just used it very gently.  Now, after 1 week it has started screen flickering again which is becoming worse leading to jamming the screen and you cannot perform any task. I don?t want to send it to Lenovo again to waste my 15 days, because I sure it will only work for 1 week and then I will be back to same situation again. This is not the Windows issue as it happens on BIOS too. I am fed-up with this now and want to sue Lenovo for making such faulty laptops and advertising them as great laptops. Please advise how should I proceed. Thanks

I was told not to do it but I bought a Lenova Idealpad 15 used from a friend. He had replaced the original OS with Linux. So i installed Windows 8 to bring it back to its normal usage. Everything works fine except the touch screen. I been tryiing solutions for 2 days from this message board and no luck. I have even download every driver for my system from the Lenova's website and that didn't help. I installed Windows 8.1 from scratch and still no touchscreen support. I contacted Lenova's support via telephone and they want me to buy a $59 Recovery media. I don't mind buying recovery media but seriously $60! I should have listen to my other friends who said stay away from Lenova products, but I wanted to try one out for myself. Can anyone help me get my touchscreen working? I am currenly on windows 8.1. I just accidentally noticed this. The screen actually flexes back when applied with enough force applied, but will return to it's normal position once the applied pressure is removed. Im not an expert on Laptops, but is this normal, given the structure and materials used esp. for that plastic edge of the screen? Forgive the newbie question.Thank you.
