Trying to print light fonts on black paper

Q: Trying to print light fonts on black paper

I preparing a display that requires printing very light ink on black paper. I have tried white, although a lack of ink makes sense on white paper, yellow and light orange. Looking very closely at the finished sheet I do not see any evidence of any ink being deposited. However, I can see evidence of black being deposited. The printer is a HP PhotoSmart Premium C310a. Incidentally, my Hp series D2600 acts the same way. Both printers print all colors when white paper is used. Any ideas?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

A: Trying to print light fonts on black paper

To get even a light gray text you would have to use black ink on white paper. The "color" white is actually the complete absence of any color at all, so most consumer printers have to turn of all the color cartridges and rely on the paper to produce the "white".

You could buy a printer that uses actual white ink, but I bet they're expensive!

But at $276.99 for just the cartridge you might want to consider a white crayon...:-)

I have had this problem but with a slight difference, I could print to Notepad and nothing else but this time, I can't print from any program at all, not Word, not Notepad, not to PDF and not to my paper printer. I open "See what's printing" and the print jobs are just stuck there.

The last time it printed was at 9:38 PM yesterday. I have used system restore to backdate to 4 days ago and still can't print. I have stopped and started the print spooler, no help.

I converted a Word doc to PDF using the Acrobat Pro add-in. The document page size is 5.5 x 8.5; press-quality option selected. PDF view of file is perfect. However, when I go to Print, the page size previewed is 8.5 x 11. I tried to select a page size from this print menu (Page Setup) but 5.5 x 8.5 is not listed. I've tried several options (Fit, Choose Paper Source by PDF size, etc.) but nothing works. Maybe it has to do with the selected printer -- an HP Laserjet Pro 200 Color.

I'm sending this file to a commercial printer and want to be sure that it will print exactly as formatted in Word doc and exactly as I see the PDF.

Please help!! Thank you.

Hello:I am running Windows 2000 pro, with all service packs installed, including the final service pack that was issued in place of the service pack 5 that was canceled. The problem is fairly easy to describe:- I open WordPad, type a single space, then use the File pull-down menu to print a blank piece of paper.- The Print dialog box, pages entry has 1-65535 in it. If I go ahead and click on the Print button, I would need more than 13 cases of paper for the job to complete! This is a new phenomenon, as I have used this technique for quite some time to ensure proper connection to the printer and that other programs will be likely to print correctly and never have had the printer spit-out more than one sheet of paper.I can highlight the "1-65535" value and delete it, which will allow me to print the one blank page I want, but I shouldn't have to do that extra step (and the print dialogue box should not show anything in the "pages" box). I would like to know if perhaps something in the configuration files for WordPad causes this to happen and, if so, what it is, where it is, and how can I change it to get things back to normal.I did run Avast!, Spybot, SuperAntoSpyware, and the free Trend Micro scan to see if there might be some malware that contributes to the problem. Nothing was found.Since I run Win2K on of my other computers, I thought a simple approach would be to locate WordPad and its associated files on one of the other computers and simply ... Read more

I'm using a Toshiba Satellite laptop running Windows Vista. I have also been successfully using an HP Photosmart B209a "all in one" printer with a wireless connection. I began getting low ink messages, so installed new HP cartridges. When I try to align the new cartridges, I get a message that says the alignment failed, but I can still use the printer. However, when I try to print any document I have generated on my computer, the printer picks up the paper and goes through the machinations of printing, but when it spits out the paper, it is blank. When I print a test page, it works. When I print a page from a website, it works. It will copy a document. It simply won't print anything I generate using my word processor or spreadsheet (I use Microsoft Works).

HP's Monitor program says that the computer is ready.

I have used HP Solutions Center, but nothing it suggests has made any difference. I have checked my wireless connection and it is working, obviously, or the printer wouldn't be getting the message to print, as it surely is, since it starts, picks up the paper and goes through the whole process of printing. However, nothing comes out except a blank piece of paper.

Hope you can help.

I have a HP photo smart B110 series printer, and recently when I send a print job to it that has multiple pages and is quite detailed it always gives a paper jam error.
It occurs when printing PDF files, long word documents... basically anything that has a lot of info. As it is going slowly through once the first page is about 2/3rd printed the Jam error occurs. The next sheet has not moved at all so clearly isn't causing an issue.
If I set the quality to Fast Draft it prints with no problem, but obviously it isn't as good a copy.

Can any one shed any light on this issue please?

Every time I try to print anything, my WF-2530 feeds a sheet through and reports paper out. The unit has seen little use and has never had a paper jam. I have carefully loaded only a few sheets of regular 20 lb paper and it does it every time. I have done the same with some Kodak photo paper for inkjet and gotten the same results. It simply does not detect that there is paper loaded.

I have tried resetting the unit, powering off then on, disconnecting and reconnecting the power cord. Nothing causes it to recognize that paper is loaded after it feeds the first sheet through. Press the 'OK' button and it will feed another sheet and continue to report 'paper out'.

I don't want to replace such a lightly used printer. If I can correct whatever is wrong with the paper sensor it would be a blessing. Help!

alright, I just got this inspiron 6000 from my sister that didnt work. she said nothing would happen at all. well it turned out the power light would go on, caps lock light blink for a few seconds and it would turn off. somehow the memory wasnt in the slot very well. bam, got it working, dumped all her pics and crap to a external hdd, and wanted to wipe it all out and start over. she is sending me a xp disc, but for now I just figured Id go back to 2k cuz I have that disc and when I get the disc go back to xp.

anyways, I couldnt figure out how to format the drive, because obviously xp was running off of it. anyways, I kept trying all the del - f2 - f8 - f12 to get a dos prompt before windos would load but I couldnt. so I figured Id just put the 2k disc in because I thought I remember that it formats it right before it installs. but it asked me where to install and the disk was partitioned and I wanted one drive letter so I cancelled the install, before it was actually installing though, said f3 to quit and I hit f3. now when I try to power it up, the power light comes on, the hdd light comes on for maybe 1-2 seconds max, then the cd drive light comes on and it spins up, then stops, and the screen just stays black, never did anything either. just black the whole time.

My company has several HP1300 LaserJet printers on desks that have developed an extremely frustrating issue. They are printing multiple pages on one sheet of paper. When printing only one page, no problem. But, when printing a multiple page document all pages are printed on top of one another on one sheet of paper. I have tried using drivers for similar printers - didn't help. HP "customer support" is next to impossible to get on the phone. Anyone have any thoughts?

When I actually print (or in this case the printer has software that can show you what it will look like once printed.. and this is how it keeps coming out..

Anyone got any ideas on why it would be showing up like that? I've got the printer quality set to high, I've even tried other fonts they do the same thing.. Any Ideas?

A:Fonts Print Pixelated?

That is a bitmap font, or a poorly designed ttf. What you are seeing is the whole reason for TTF fonts having been developed in the first place. Basically fonts(and indeed any bitmap) do not scale up very well. You are printing the picture at a higher resolution than when you drew it and are therefore scaling up the size. Try drawing the picture at a ghigher resolution.
(You can see a similar effect if you paint a single diagonal line in your paint package.)
If this is happening on documents, try turning off the 'print as bitmap' feature of the printer.

I have a library of fonts. When looking for that perfect one, I would like to have a page(s) (hard copy) with samples of every fonts. Does anyone know a way to get the computer to print off a sample of each without me having to go through everyone and individually print everyone. I know when I had a really old version of windows, it would do this, but I haven't found a way to do this with XP.

Also, does anyone know the "standard" fonts that most people have on their computers. SInce I do so many graphics, websites, etc. I have many more than what a normal user would have. However, if I send a word document with the fonts on them and they do not have that font on their computer, it does not appear right. I'd like to be able to use something besides Times New Roman, Arial, and Garamond.

A:Way to print a sample of all fonts?

Found this:

"Printing Font Samples

These days, most computers come pre-installed with a bounty of printer fonts. Knowing how they will all look when they print can be tough. There's an easy way to print samples of the fonts on your computer. Go to Start, Settings, Control Panel and double-click the Fonts folder. Hold down the Ctrl key and select the fonts you want to print by clicking with your mouse. Next, right-click on one of the selected fonts and choose Print. You'll have to click OK in dialog boxes for each font you selected, but once you do that, your printer will go to work printing sample pages for each font. "

Yesterday my black ink cartridge on my Canon i850 printer ran dry so I replaced it with a brand new cartridge. Now whenever I try to print, the color portion of the page prints fine, but the black doesn't print at all. For example, I printed a webpage and the color graphics came out okay, but the black text portion didn't show up.

I'm wondering if the new cartridge may be faulty. It certainly appears that I've installed it correctly, the same way I've done many times before. Since this problem arose immediately after I changed cartridges I don't believe I have a hardware problem or a printer driver problem. I have a spare black cartridge which I could try, but I don't particularly want to open a second brand new cartridge.

I would greatly appreciate hearing from anyone who might be able to solve my problem.

Thank you.

Hi there,
OK, here we go. I previously owned a Lexmark Z25 printer and up to a certain point, it was printing ok. Then it abruptly stopped printing any pages. It sounded as if it was getting the signal from the computer, but nothing would print. Rather than buy new cartridges, which would have cost more than a new printer, I bought a Dell 720. Now, the color prints fine, but I cannot get the black to print. The cartridges are just about full with only a small amount out of the black cartridge.

I read somewhere this week that it has something to do with the software. I believe there was a work-around, but for the life of me I can't remember where I saw it and I didn't bookmark the page! My other computer is WinXP, but I didn't like XP and the fact that I got hosed on the deal with only 128 RAM - never could track down the guy who sold it to me..Figures. Anyway, I now have a computer with WIN2K. I don't have the software for the Dell printer, but I downloaded the drivers from the Dell site. I do have the software for the Lexmark.

Lately, it seems I've seen Dell and Lexmark being spoken of in the same sentence - are they connected?? A LEXPPS.exe, which is Lexmark corporation, is "listening" according to my Comodo, leading me to believe that Dell and Lexmark have a lot to do with each other.

I'm sure this sounds quite like rambling on my part, but this little problem is driving me crazy right now, and while not really a newbie, I'... Read more

Now it keeps defaulting to the extra paper tray no matter what tray I specify in my apps, AND no matter what app I use (IE, Word, Notepad). The only way it will print to Tray2 is by pulling out Tray3! I've tried reinstalling the printer, then going into device settings and selecting 'installed' for tray3. But still nothing. Reading up on it, I found that this printer has an auto-duplex feature, which lead me to the question:

How damp is the paper going to be after printing duplex, especially if I print with 50% - 100% coverage?

My initial conjecture is that it wouldn't be wet or curled, as it would be counterproductive to Epson's image to provide a printer with an auto-duplex feature that would drench the paper.

After doing a little bit of research, it seems that it's largely going to depend on the ink itself. According to macworld.com, "pigment inks...are made up of tiny, encapsulated particles that sit on top of the paper, instead of being absorbed into a paper’s fibers, which is what happens with dyes." The article further goes on to state that pigment inks are primarily for the purpose of longevity. Well, I'm not particularly concerned about it's longevity but I am interested in whether it's ability to dry faster than dye ink is justifiable for an investment in pigment inks?

A little more research revealed that paper quality is also a major factor (duh). Only issue is, I've already purchased a bunch of cheap 20 lb, 96 bright white paper and don't want to purchase paper separately for this additional printer (when I mean "bunch", I mean that I possess cases of paper in the double digits). Another reason I'm hesitant to make any move towards better paper is that it seems that the higher quality paper is designed to ... Read more

I have a REALLY bad paper jam... My printer is MF4350d. The paper jam troubleshooting outlined in the manual did not help. When I opened up the toner area and the back end of the printer, I can't see see the paper at all. It looks like the paper is jammed in area that I don't know how to access to (if I can, aside from taking the whole printer apart).

Does anyone know any way to fix this problem? :/ The paper that got stuck was a label paper. I know for sure it is stuck because the paper did not come out at all. The WHOLE paper got stuck. The label paper half half label peeled off. I am assuming that the reason it might have curled up in the printer is due to the disappearance of that half label? :/

The label paper is a regular size paper with 2 labels divided evenly on the paper.

Is taking the printer apart the only way? (is that even safe/good to do on my own part?)

Please help thank you very much.

The print shop should have no problem adjusting the print size on there equipment.
The adjustment are not made with Windows 7 they are made with the printer program that came with the printers they use.

Now, google chrome worked - but those fonts & odd characters? It happens in Google Chrome. I can't read anything because of it.

I ran virus scanners, malware & spyware checks. (Kaspersky, Malwarebytes, and SuperAntiMalware).

What is the problem???

A:Black screen in IE, fonts...

Try going into system restore in safe mode. Then go back a week before the problem.

I have somehow blundered into a black background for desktop. The print color didn't change (stayed black) so I can only see icons on the desktop. If I click on any icon (i.e. control panel) it opens but I can't see any words or where to click for display settings, just a black screen with little icons. I would settle for reformat but I can't seem to get the HD to agree. The OS is XP Pro. I have tried to boot from other OS cd's and boot disks but it just keeps loading xp pro. It is a used Gateway computer (hey, it was free) and the bios is password protected by previous unknow admin.

So.... the thing works fine except the background is black. Is there any way to reverse back to the white background?

Thanks for any help!

A:black background + black print = only icons

If you are the one that changed the color could you possibly restore the computer to a previous day before this happened?

A:How I print Custom Paper and Custom Margin

Your paper size is called 8.5x13in.
Go to Page Layout tab - Size and scroll down to 8.5x13in and select it (see first screenshot attached).

Then on the same tab go to Margins and click Custom margins (see second screenshot attached). In the new window change margins to desired size.

A:why are these fonts in black and white while w8.1 are in colors?

Perhaps W7 only has the B&W fonts installed. Can you look in FF and see the font name? A file search on both should show up any differences.
