Preferred Solution: LOOKING FOR RECOVERY DISK TO REINSTALL WINDOWS7

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

A: LOOKING FOR RECOVERY DISK TO REINSTALL WINDOWS7

HP will not have them any more. You can go to a third party site like http://computersurgeons.com/ There are also still some "mirror" links to Windows 7 OEM images Microsoft USED To make available. Post back with any more questions. I hestitate to post all the options since I don't know what you are willing and able to do. Was the laptop ever upgraded to Windows 10? If so reinstall is MUCH easier.

Hi,

I've had some problems with my computer and am consdering wiping out my hard drive and reinstalling Windows 7. The problem is: I don't have a windows cd to boot it from. My friend doesn't have one either, but he has his recovery disk. We both have Sager laptops but differing models. I was wondering if I could use his recovery disk just to reinstall windows using the microsoft product key under my laptop. Will doing this just give me the drivers that are compatible with his hardware and I can just remove them? I've downloaded my hardware drivers onto an external hard drive and was wondering if i could just load up a clean win7 os that way.

Thanks for your time!

A:reinstall windows7 using friend's recovery disk

Well...you need to understand just what recovery disks are.

They may rely on files which are on a hidden partition on the system's hard drive which was originally installed...they may not.

If the system is not the exact same model...using recovery dsiks from a different system is just an invitation to more frustration.  If you look at those retailers selling "recovery disks", you will see that they definitely are system specific...there is no general reovery disks which can be applied to different system models.

I also imagine that using someone else's disks...will result in the Windows license applicable to the disks used on another system...will show up on that list which Microsoft maintains for known compromised license keys.

Hello,

Yesterday morning when I turned on my laptop, I got the "BOOTMGR missing error". My laptop was working with no problems till the night before, so I don't know what happened. Anyway, I tried everything recommend on this forum and elsewhere to fix the problem. But nothing seems to work.

Since I don't have any important stuff on the laptop, I don't mind reinstalling Windows 7 if that would solve the issue. But I don't have a windows 7 installation CD. I have a Samsung R540 which came pre-installed with Windows 7. I went to the Microsoft recovery centre and tried to validate my windows product key but it is not validating.. Is this because my Windows is pre-installed?

Also from the command prompt I can see that I have a recovery partition. When I start the laptop, it says "press F2 for setup and F4 for recovery." But while F2 takes me to the BIOS screen, F4 doesn't do anything. While searching online, someone suggested that the recovery partition must be made active. So I went to command prompt and made it active and tried again. But it has made no difference.

So now I don't what else to do.. I don't really care about any data. I just want the laptop to work.. Is there no hope for me?? I would really appreciate any help
Thanks in advance

I have a question about this.

Right now I will upgrade my Vista laptop to Windows 7 . I already did it before with the RC and worked great.

Anyways there are certain functions on my laptop I use . So that's why I didnt do a clean install. But if there is any problem and I need to reinstall windows. I will have to install Vista first . Till SP1 is the best I believe and then again Windows 7 .
A big hassle if you ask me?

Is there a way to make a bootable DVD or something of my laptop once I upgraded to windows 7 and I take kind of a snapshot of that moment.
or something else'

Like when i got my laptop I had to make 2 DVD's so I could reinstall windows. Was hoping I could do the same with Windows7 somehow.

Another thing is. I have an English Windows Vista on a machine but will get a Dutch windows 7 upgrade. I don't think I can upgrade from a English to Dutch right? Although the upgrade is Ultimate?

I also can install an English version of Ultimate and use the key from the Dutch ultimate? or is the key from the box really only for the DVD that's in the box ?

thank you for your answers.

You choose your language upon installation,i did anyway.
And microsoft have language updates also.

I think as long as the key is for "ultimate" it will work.

Hello
well last week my mate had locked herself out of her laptop
I had to create a windows recovery disk
I used it to system restore her system to a date before she had set her password
and on the menu it said install vista
and on my old laptop that my dad has it's a 2gb compaq presario
they're not made anymore
it has low memory it's very slow and really
hardly useable without getting very stressed
so if I used the recovery disk I created
and click install vista
will it be like a new laptop?
there's nothing needed on the laptop
so nothing is being lost by resetting the laptop
it's got vista home premium x86
thankyou in advance

A:Recovery Disk reinstall

Hello Sound_Asleep,

You could use METHOD THREE in the tutorial below to reset the password instead without losing anything if still need be.

Reset User Account Password

If you used the OEM recovery disc that was created from your mates computer, then yes it will restore the laptop back to factory default like the day she first turned it on. You will not be able to use your dad's OEM recovery disc on your mates computer though.

Hope this helps,
Shawn

My computer came "pre-installed" with Windows XP Home eons ago and I wish to reformat HD and reinstall XP because things have really slowed down.

I went back to manufacturer requested and paid $20 for what I hoped was a complete XP disk, but got another Recovery pr backup CD with SP 2 added. Oh a bonus, why thank you.

Sorry but I've done a search and haven't found anything yet convincing me I can fulfill this task by using the Recovery disk just as well. Is it really better to do installation with full XP disk or using recovery should do the trick as well?

I havn't found a site that I feel comfortable with that could do this?

Any experts have good site recommendation for reinstall with recovery disk, or should I still pursue getting the real XP CD?

A:Reinstall Windows XP using Recovery disk

Often that is what you get from a manufacturer. The Recovery CD puts the computer back the way it came from the factory. All the drivers and programs get put back as well. It saves the time of having to install the OS then install any required additional drivers, then install any added programs.

But rather than taking any future guesses, why not ask the manufacturer exactly what the recovery cd's will do.

Have a 64 bit HP Pavilion Home Premium desktop that has become corrupted and we'd like to get it back to factory settings.

I can use F11 to access System Recovery, and the first step is formatting the hard drive. It stays on that screen for at least 15 minutes with the completion pct never moving off 0%. It eventually errors with a 1002 msg, saying I should contact HP for support. Right!!!

If I use a Vista 64 CD (not from HP - an iso image I downloaded and burnt using another computer), I'm on the green and blue Vista screen (after I press any key to boot from CD, and after it finishes loading Windows) for just over 8 minutes (I actually timed it - twice) with no writing or images on the screen - just a cursor, before it gives me a BSOD
DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL
STOP: 0x01
nvstor.sys

A:Cannot Reinstall from Recovery Partition or Disk

That error is related to either bad memory or problematic drivers. Considering that it happened with a installation disk I'm inclined to think memory I suggest that you test it with memtest: Memtest86+ - Advanced Memory Diagnostic Tool

Run it for at least 3 passes.

Hey guys, I bought and own d HP Pavilion desktop and a compaq presario laptop.

My desktop got sick with a virus and was very unstable. It became very slow and could not connect to the internet and I had no choice but to reformat it with the CD that came with my laptop. Incidentally the desktop did NOT have its own recovery disks, it was create-your-own, which I never knew about until it became infected, at which point I didn't want to create disks since the computer was infected.

Long story short I installed my my laptop's operating system onto my desktop without problems (although recovering the drivers was a bit of a pain). The only issue was that it wouldn't accept the Windows Genuine Key from my desktop's tower sticker- I had to use the alpha numeric product code from my actual laptop.

Now I was wondering if there would be any problem if I tried reformatting my laptop with the same disk I used to reformat the computer- mostly because the laptop is getting slow (there's no virus on it, I just want the same clean feeling my desktop now has) . Will the same key be accepted?

Hi
I have just bought HP pavilion G6 notebook.
It came with pre-installed Genuine Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit, recovery disk of 14 gb and C: Hard drive of 451 gb.

I have made 3 recovery disks(DVDS) using "Recovery Media creation".
I Want to Reinstall Windows 7 because

1)want to get rid of recovery disk of 14gb.
2)want to do partition because without partition my system is really slow.

I want to reinstall Windows 7 using these 3 DVDs.
Can anybody please help me

That would be so nice of you.
Thanks in advance !

A:how can i reinstall windows 7 using recovery disk DVDS?

Welcome to Windows Seven Forums.

1. If you recover your system using the recovery discs you have created, all you do is recover it to exactly as it was when you first bought it, which means you will still have a recovery partition.

2. Whenever you want to carry out a factory recovery, using the recovery partition is a lot quicker than using your recovery discs.

3. If you want a clean Windows 7 free of HP's bloatware you need a Windows DVD to install from. If it is the same version as the one currently installed you can use the product key that is attached to the outside of your laptop.

Clean Install : Factory COA Activation Key

Partition size or the number of partitions has no bearing on your computer's performance so you need to investigate other reasons why your computer is slow.

I'm posting this cause maybe it could be helpful to anybody in the same situation that I was.

After events in my Z930, I decided to reinstall my Laptop to Out-Of-Box state. In my first time I was given an error, which I couldn't understand, so I did this in the second attempt:

1. Get in Bios and set the SATA CONTROL MODE to COMPATIBILITY
2. Erase all SSD, data, partitions, sectors...etc ALL

The second attempt was sucessful!

A:Got error using recovery disk to reinstall Windows 7

Usually if the problem is SATA option solution should not be BIOS option change but SATA driver load before Win7 installation starts. With enabled SATA option (not compatibility mode) the HDD will work properly and with full performance.

Your solution is just workaround and some kind of temporary solution.

I made 3 recovery CDs back when i first bought this computer. I want to install a new drive on the computer so i installed the new drive and now i am running CD1. I get Windows is Loading..... Windows splash screen....and a blue screen that has an hourglass pointer..REPEAT. Been like this for 30+minutes, dont think this is going to work. My question is this, maybe i had a bad CD, who knows. If not, do i need to format the drive first? I know Windows does this when you first install. Or do i need to partition the drive? I know HP recovery wants to put the image on a hidden partition so maybe that is it? Possible the CDs work if the original drive crash, but doesnt work if i install a new drive.

A:Reinstall Windows 7 from Recovery Disk Pavilion Slimline s53...

@auxiliary1 Is the new drive the same capacity as the old drive? If it is larger, that is OK, but if it is smaller, than can cause problems in the restore. Also, the restore reformats the drive automatically, so there is no prep you have to do. Have you tried doing a memory test? If not, press Esc repeatedly while rebooting, and once the HP utilities menu comes up, press F2 to run diagnostics.Good Luck

Hello;
Went to do an XP reinstall of factory restore disks (3) and never, ever had this problem. After files were copied, asked to restart PC and got a prompt stating...."cannot find ntldr"-
then asks for a boot disk presumably with this file on it- this has never, ever happened before- isn't ntldr one of the files that's copied and then installed?? I guess what I need to do is to locate an ntldr file, make a disk of it and try to get it installed so the rest of the Xp install can be completed. Thinking perhaps I have a corrupt recovery/reinstallation disk- any suggestions would be appreciated.

A:reinstall windows 10 from original windows7

Hi: If you had already upgraded to W10 and it was successfully activated, I know you can clean install W10 by making the installation media from the link below (media creation tool). http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10 Since you had previously upgraded to W10 and as long as it was activated, if you need to reinstall it, you don't need a product key. There will be an option to enter a product key but there is also an option to check 'I don't have a product key.' That is what you select to reinstall a previous installation of a W10 upgrade. Now, what I don't know is if you can run the installation disk from the windows desktop and upgrade from W7 to W10, keeping the currently installed programs, files and settings.  I don't know if it will know it was activated before and if you will be given the option of selecting 'I don't have a product key." I have only clean reinstalled W10 using the above method.

If you are completely sure that there is nothing that you want to save from your hard drive, then you could just do this:

Boot into bios, change the boot drive to your DVD drive and put the Win 7 DVD in. Reboot.

Go to install Windows normally and it will eventually ask you which drive and partition to install to. At this screen, go to advanced options. If I remember correctly, this is where you can format and then continue to install after.

I tried to change permissions, it let me but now i need permission from myself to change it, clicking try again does nothing. I haven't gone in to safe mode to try and rename them yet. I ran boot log and in fact most of the the drivers other than sysroot... did not load. I tried all of the repair options provided by HP and microsoft without success.  So I decided to restore using a set of disks I dutifully prepared when I recently moved my system.  Unfortunately the restore from disk option cannot find the boot file on disk #1.  When I put the disk in another machine I see a normal set of foders including one named "Boot"??I REALLY want to get my system back to what I had when I exeuted  the restore to restore point!

I had a dual boot system. Windows 7 Home and Windows 7 pro on 2 separate hard drives.
The main hard drive crashed with Windows 7 Home and had to be replaced.
When I put the OS cd in the cd drive and boot off of the cd drive (using the escape key and set to boot from the cd drive), the computer shuts down and the cd is not read and I am unable to reinstall Windows 7 Home on my PC.

A:Unable to reinstall Windows7 Home dual boot 2 drives 1 drive replaced

Hello neighbor

Does the PC ever shutdown if you enter W7 Pro ?

Windows 7 does not fit on a cd, only a dvd, but I`m sure you meant DVD.

Where did you get the install dvd from ?

Did you create it yourself ?

Title says it all. My computer is very sick and I've received an error message today saying windows must be reinstalled, insert the reinstallation dvd. I don't have that disk anymore though I do still have the product key.

What should I do?

A:How do I reinstall windows 7 if I've lost the reinstall disk?

You may need to buy a new one. Do you have a recovery partition on your hard drive?

That is a very strange message, though. Are you sure you're not infected? Where and when did you see such a message?

During recovery - error message: "system image created using efi and this computer is using bios"

My efi bios lists:
windows boot manager with efi label
dvd ram without efi label
dvd ram with label in addition to above when win7 install dvd inserted
hdd without efi label (ntfs)

Thinking it's a boot sequence problem I tried all possible combinations as well as the probable. In some cases I get missing bootmgr of course from the HDD and the familiar "this version of windows is incompatible with the system......." The most successful attempt and the error msg "image created using efi and this uses bios" resulted from any combination which had the non efi dvd ram before the hdd

This follows a virgin install of Win7/64pro and a successful backup to an expansion drive. The original win7 drive was replaced with an identical but empty target drive.

Hello maxxx and welcome to Seven Forums.

Don't know if this will be much help but which system imaging tool did you use? There have been reports that the native Windows 7 imaging tool can be kinda useless at times if that's the one you used. Other recommendations include Macrium free, Paragon Backup free, and EaseUS Todo Backup free.

HP probook 4510s windows 7 32bit
I did a "disk sanitizer" and the laptop isn't rebooting right or reading my operating system cd it says "NON-SySTEM ERROR OR DISK REPLACE AND STRIKE ANY KEY WHEN READY"
1) i removed all assceraries from the leptop
2) ran a diagnostic test all passed
3) here are some photos attachments
4) i think i deleted the partition and the OPS wind.7
Please thanks

A:HP 4510s windows7 "Non-system disk or disk error replace..."

What is a "Disk sanitizer." Sounds like a disk wiper, or some optimizing or registry cleaning crapware that ruined your Win7.

Try booting into the Win7 DVD or Repair CD to System Restore to before you ruined the OS as shown in Troubleshooting Windows 7 Failure to Start which also provides the DVD if needed.

If you can't get it started with any of the steps given there then get the superior Clean Reinstall without the HP crapware which is the worst in the industry and throttles Win7 from its native state.

Hey guys,

I'd like to sell my laptop but i first want to restore the laptop to erase all my stuff.

My laptop is a HP pavilion dv7 2040eb, originaly bought with Vista on it together with a code which gave me the opportunity to upgrade to Windows7 with a reduction in price. So i have W7 running at this moment.

When I open up the 'Recovery Manager' of HP it tells me that it's meant for Windows Vista and that there is a slight chance that certain apps and drivers won't work no more... (so i didn't go on with the recovery)

Also I made a set of Recovery Disks whit the 'Recovery Manager' while i was running Windows7. But now i don't know if my computer burned Windows7 on the disks or Vista :s

I'm just worried because the factory setting was Vista, but i replaced it with Windows7 and I'm not smart enough to see which software i burned on the disk

I realy want to put W7 back on it because it's much better than Vista...

Hope you guys can help me!!
Greetings and thanks in advance!

Hi--My Pavilion G6 stopped working and the usual Windows7 recover options didn't work, so I sent away for a Windows 7 USB stick recovery kit from HP.  Following the included instructions, the notebook boots up off of the recovery stick, and gets part way through the recovery process but then displays this error: "Windows cannot find 'F:\System.sav\Util\Rstone.exe' Make sure you typed the name correctly, and then try again." This was an automated process, so there could not have been a typing error. I tried the process several times, but can't get past this point.  Does anyone have any advice on how to proceed? Thanks!

Greetings:
My computer froze during an update, upon restarting the computer I now I have a endless loop error.    A black screen appears with the following message.
"Windows failed to start. A recent hardware or software change might be the cause.
To fix the problem:
1. Insert your Windows installation disc and restart the computer.
2. Choose your language settings and click next.
3. Click "repair your computer"
If you do not have this disc, contact your system administrator or computer manufacturer for assistance.
File: \Windows\system32\config\system\
Status: 0xc000014c
Info: Windows failed to load because the system registry file is missing, or corrupt."

The computer is a gateway zx6971-ub10p, No windows installation disc was included,
(I had previously made one but am unable to find it, also don't have the box/packaging anymore). I do not care about recovery anything on the computer, I just need to get the computer working again for school.
Windows Memory Diagnostic found no problems, Various Safe Modes, Last Known Good Configuration, Start Windows Normally,etc... do nothing.
Was going to try http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-recovery but I don't even know my 25 character product key, no warranty from Gateway now, and no $ to take this thing somewhere.

Is this computer toast?!?

If anyone could help me out I would be so grateful!!!

A:Windows Error Recovery Loop(Windows7), Help Please !

Looks like the computer can't find the registry:

Status: 0xc000014c
Info: Windows failed to load because the system registry file is missing, or corrupt."

Several different things could cause this.  Start with these free, bootable hardware diagnostics:  http://www.carrona.org/initdiag.html
I suspect the hard drive, so be sure to run that test.  Also, run the MemTest86+ as I don't trust the results of the Windows Memory Diagnostic

Does the computer have a Windows sticker affixed to it?  If so, that'll contain the Windows Product Key

I deleted a few files like a year ago.. i placed them in the program files of other software in C: . Eventually when i uninstalled that software the folder was gone. Is it possible to recover it in anyway??

A:Recover deleted file without recovery softwares in windows7

A year ago is a very long time. Most likely Windows has long since over written that area of the disk to a point that anything that you would get would be very incomplete and unuseable.

My son has an Asus Gaming lap top that has a virus. It uses Windows7, the firewall will not open or update with the error message 0x80070424, the Trend Micro Titanium anti virus software will not install completely.
I have also downloaded a PC clean-up program that also has a disk clean-up and it has removed malware and was able to clean everything up with exception of repairing the firewall problem
I have burned to a disk the hard drive wipe program from DBAN and was wondering what is the best course of action to take.
1). Should I back-up the entire lap top onto a separate 1tb so I can re-install after wiping the hard drive. (Would this not also copy over the virus as I do not know where it is?)
2). Should I wipe everything from the lap top without saving anything to another hard drive, purchase Windows7 or 8 and install it on the clean lap top.
3). Wipe the hard drive and call it a very nice and expensive paperweight?
Any ideas would be helpful.

PS..I also tried downloading and installing a new firewall program that will not open.

A:Disk wiping, Windows7 and viruses

Download a copy of Windows 7 that matches what you now have. The key on the COA sticker on the bottom of the Laptop is all you need.

Save any data.
Create a bootable DVD or better yet, 4G or more bootable flash drive and do a Clean Install of Windows 7, formatting the drive during the install process.

If you do not have a Windows 7 installation DVD, you can download a legal copy with SP1 integrated from here:

Windows 7 Direct Download Links

Make sure you get the same version you have, Home Premium, Pro or Ultimate and 32 or 64 bit. Note that Basic or Starter is not available.

I recommend using ImgBurn at 4X speed (or the slowest available) to create the DVD from the downloaded .iso file.

You can do this on any computer capable of burning a DVD.

YOU MUST HAVE A VALID KEY TO INSTALL THIS .ISO. The one on the COA sticker on your computer will work.

You can also create a bootable USB Flash drive (4GB or larger) to install Windows 7 from.
Download and run Universal USB Installer ? Easy as 1 2 3
Select Windows 7 from the first drop down list, all the way to the bottom
Select the downloaded Windows 7 iso file
Select your USB flash drive
Click Create

For techies or folks who work on computers: Create Windows 7 Universal ISO With All Editions Selection On Install with ei.cfg Removal Utility.
This will fit on a 6GB flash drive or can be burned to a DVD.

My aim is to have a Windows 7 bootable cd as Microsoft is going to kill Windows XP on April 2014.

I have Vaio laptop with Windows 7 Home Premium 32 bit with 4 recovery discs that I created but I haven't used it so far as Vaio never gave any trouble.

Is it illegal or possible to create Windows 7 cd from my Vaio laptop Recovery Discs so that I can use on my another desktop that has Windows XP SP3 as Windows XP era ends on April 2014 ?

A:Is it illegal or possible to create a bootable Windows7 cd from Vaio Recovery Discs ?

The recovery disk is only for that one Vaio laptop only. It won't work on any other machine as contains the operating system, drivers for that machine and activation key. It not only wouldn't work but would also be illegal. Why are you so concerned about XP coming to an end? It doesn't mean XP is going stoping working. It's just the end to support. Get a backup program and do I regular backup so you can get it back up and running should something should happen.

Hello,

Unfortunately my disk is broken completely and I am not able to boot it anymore. Is there a way to download somewhere the data from the recovery partition?

My Model: Satellite A660-16Z (italian model)
http://www.toshiba.it/discontinued-p...lite-a660-16z/

Operating System: Windows 7

Next I tried to order from the web
https://backupmedia.toshiba.eu/landing.aspx
the recovery image, but after inserting the serial number, the web-system shows me the message:

For your device no recovery medium can be ordered, because it comes either not from the region of Toshiba Europe, or it is too old for this service

thanks in advance
Markus

A:Satellite A660 Windows7 home recovery data needed

The notebook belongs definitely to European series so the only plausible reason why you cannot order the recovery disk is: notebook is too old.
In such case you can install only a clean Windows 7 system. The essential drivers are available on the Toshiba EU driver page and could be installed after the system installation.

Hi All

I installed Windows 7 on a formerly Vista Business computer. Now I would like to know, does a clean installation of Windows 7 automatically create a recovery partition or backup? Or do I need to format the Recovery Drive D(from the Vista installation) and make a backup on that drive (D)?

Thank You
