Microsoft Digital River iso downloads - gone for good?

Q: Microsoft Digital River iso downloads - gone for good?

It looks like the Digital River iso downloads of Windows 7 are done. A person now has to enter a key on this page to get the iso. I have not confirmed yet if an OEM Windows 7 key will work. Maybe Microsoft will reinstate those links but I doubt it.

Preferred Solution: Microsoft Digital River iso downloads - gone for good?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

A: Microsoft Digital River iso downloads - gone for good?

Looks like they are gone. sari and Toffee informed me about it yesterday, apparently, a lot of people (including MVPs) aren't happy with that decision, but there's nothing that can be done. I have the Windows 7 Professional SP1 64-bits .iso on my computer, which is one of the most popular, and I can access all the others be entering the product keys I have and also use my e5.onthehub (DreamSpark) account, but I think that uploading them and distributing them would be illegal. This is kind of stupid too. What if the person needs a recovery DVD to access the Recovery PE, but lost his product key on the sticker. The only way would be to grab it from Windows itself, but it wouldn't be bootable. Hopefully they'll make these .iso available to the public again.

In our household we have two students, and so ordered a copy of Windows 7 Professional and Windows 7 Home Premium in both x64 and x86 versions - a total of 4 products from Digital River.

Having used their download manager to download these files, I now have 6 files: 4 .exe files (as expected) plus 2 files named setup1.box and setup2.box.

The .exe files are, however, only just over 70KB each, setup1.box is almost 3GB and setup2.box is 163KB.

Running the Home PRemium versions fails immeditaely, saying it can't find the required files. Running the Pro x64 .exe file starts to build a .iso file ("Unloading the box"), but then fails with an unspecified error.

Any ideas?

A:is there any alternative for digital river ?

There is no trial version of Win7, only a 30 day grace period before you must activate so you can decide if this is an install you want to keep. You should already own a license. If so then read carefully over the steps to get and keep a perfect Clean Reinstall Windows 7. It discusses in Step 1 how to find replacement media.

Hi all,

What a nightmare!!!

I have just had an email from Digital River, that I will be getting a full refund for the Windows 7 upgrade within the next 30 days, for the problems caused. I haven't even emailed them to complain (yet!)

The email also states that if I ordered the backup cd's these would still be dispatched.

Happy days - sort of!

Thanks

J

Ok, I know some have cracked it, and others haven't, but I thought I would share this one with you.

I am running a MacBook Pro, and had Windows XP running under bootcamp. Downloaded from Digital River and had all the problems. Finally got it to boot, but wouldn't install due to unable to create folder.

Scrubbed bootcamp partition and tried using Parallels. So far so good, but not for long. Won't take my product key as I have the upgrade product 32bit, but at least it got that far.)

Now, reloading windows XP on bootcamp, and my XP disc has a scratch on it and can't be read

Ah well

Any help would be great.

Ok, so I was finally able to get the main Expanded Setup file extracted.

But now I still have the 3 original files on my desktop... what do I do with them?

Also my expandedsetup file is this large:

Size: 3.01 GB (3,239,836,668 bytes)

Size on disk: 3.01 GB (3,241,648,128 bytes)

Contains: 874 files, 199 folders

But doesnt it need to be 3.02 or something? So did I download a bad version? Or do I have it all for 7 64?

You can do it. See this DR help link:

Windows 7 US Online Store

Step 2 ? Download the ISO Image of Windows 7
Please obtain these links by contacting Digital River customer support. The Windows 7 ISO file is large (>2GB). Please verify that you have sufficient hard disk space to download this file and install Windows 7. Approx. 20GB will be enough for both operations.
Download the Windows 7 ISO image and save the file to a location you can remember. The download may take a considerable amount of time on slower internet connections.

I've been following the above thread where a guy kept trying to download a Windows 7 iso from Digital River, and it was wrong size/'not an iso' etc. Even though I don't need any iso's myself, I thought I'd have a go at downloading one to see what the OP's problem was. Sure enough I had the same result - 2.49GB (not 3.09GB for x64). Twice in fact.

That was browser download, so I tried 2 separate download managers. Seemed fine at first, but both stopped at 99.9%. Curious . . .

I'm starting to wonder if Microsoft are playing the old 'poison torrent' game - record labels sometimes release bad torrents of music CDs into the wild and fans download them (illegally) but are disappointed when it's a fake. After a few more useless attempts to get the CD, the pirate gives up and buys the product (well that's the theory).

Pretty soon all computers on sale will be Windows 8, and a lot of folk will buy one but want to downgrade to W7. MS seem to be moving the goalposts on that scenario, but no probs - we can just get a W7 iso from Digital River. Or can we ???

Just like the 'poison torrents', after several failed W7 Digital River downloads I guess MS expect us all to give up and buy into W8 (and buy their video's + mp3's).

A:Something wrong at Digital River ?

You can remove your tin foil hat - sort of.

I used Pale Moon to download the ISO mentioned in the thread and it was fine
(e.g. I could mount it via Virtual CloneDrive and look around at the files...
...I could also build a virtual machine from it via VirtualBox.).

I also downloaded two other ISOs at the same time. One was fine, but X17-59465 was weird.
The last ISO in the screenshot above should be that same size as the first ISO.
X17-59465.iso looked fine.
I could mount it via Virtual CloneDrive.
I could even start the OS install process, but it barfed:

Notice the size being reported during the download.
That download was the 3rd try.
The completed download below it was 2nd try.

And these two download attempts were via another ISP:

Both of those downloads were via IE10. Both claimed that the download was interrupted. I looked at the file size of the ".partial" file before hitting the Resume button. The ".partial" file was the same exact file size (2.619...) shown in the first image of this post. Pressing Resume started the download all over again - but the "resumed" download made no claim of an interruption. Each second try just gave me the 2.619... file.

How odd.

As Jann from Heidoc reports in Windows 7 Direct Download Links as of now only English and Spanish are still up, links being replaced by a new MS Recovery Center that provides ISO's for a retail Product Key.

I'd also had heard from SIW2 who couldn't get it to take his retail key due to a Language error. I also had the same error on two of my retail Keys. The address we were using is Microsoft Software Recovery

But if it's not allowing Product Keys from COA stickers then it is another ridiculous attack on the ability of MS customers to get the best possible install of the OS they bought with their PC even after over a million consumers have done so following Clean Reinstall Windows 7. I honestly thought we were beyond this, but apparently not.

I'm going to wait a day before bringing this up to the MVP forums to see if anything changes.

Apologies to folks who have already seen this:

Windows 7 student upgrade hell - Apple 2.0 - Fortune Brainstorm Tech

(link currently on front page of CNN)
As I posted several days ago, I am just shocked that MS didn't work with Digital River to get a solution out there ASAP...to avoid just this type of press. I really have been surprised that I didn't get an email a day or two after release day from DR or MS stating, "if you have issues, you can download the ISO from here." I mean seriously, what's the value of the ISO without a key?...and if you managed to get a cracked key, I doubt access to the install media is what is holding you back.

I am sure that this issue is DR's fault since they appear to have written the installer based on its signature...but the result is the same either way - bad press for MS and Win 7.

Anyway, just thought that I would share.

When you purchase Windows 7, you are actually just purchasing the product key number. You could use any 64-bit Windows 7 Ultimate installation disc to install it on your computer, then use your product key number to activate it.

You can download an official 64-bit Windows 7 Ultimate ISO file below. Afterwards, you can create a bootable USB/DVD with the ISO file to install with.

I need this iso to install it on another computer. How to solve this problem ?

A:Why I can't download Windows 7 Profesional 32 bit from Digital River ?

Usually what happens after 99% is that the file is moved from a temp folder to the download folder, and then scanned by your antivirus program. Try and delete all browsing history, verify there's enough free space on the disk, and temporarily disable the antivirus.

Hello! While I know that this is the very first day of Windows 7 release and everything, I just wanted to see if anyone had a similar problem and had found a way to fix it.
So, I finally got Windows 7 Professional Upgrade (since I'm a student) to start downloading through my Campus' proxy and after downloading smoothly for a half an hour or so it hit 68% and paused. At first I thought nothing of it, but now when I try to click "resume" it downloads about .01-.02mb of data and then pauses again all in less than a second.
Anyone know how I might fix this? I've exited the Download Manager and started it again a couple of times, and restarted my computer and have unplugged/plugged back in my Ethernet cord.
Any help would be much appreciated, thanks!

I purchased the student offer version of Windows 7 yesterday top up grade from XP, as for ?30 I thought I couldn't go wrong.

So there I was this morning thinking I could set a side a few hours to get it all up and running but 11 hours later i still dont even have all of the first .box file downloaded!

I live off campus (in the UK), but still have a cable broadband connection and can usually expect file download speeds of 300-800kb/s as reported by the windows download window.

Now I know that there is probably high demand on Digital River's servers at the moment, but still... My download has only managed 40-50kb/s on average with a couple of short peaks to 70-90kb/s.

At this rate it'll be tomorrow evening before I get to a point where I can install.

Anyone else having this problem, or ideas of how to speed things up? I ask as i can't find anywhere else which mentions this problem, only people talking about creating .iso files as if their download flew by and now they're installing.

My computer knowlegde is limited, so any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

A:Win7 Digital River Master Disc Won't Boot

You say you can't boot from the disk even after making correct BIOS boot order settings, but then describe the disk loading. How does the disk load if not booted?

Do you get the prompt to "hit any key to boot from CD/DVD drive?" If you do this, does it then begin loading with a progress bar and proceed as you say? That is booting from the DVD.

If it was not able to boot from the DVD then it would start into Windows 7 and probably bring up the Autoplay menu of the DVD in the drive. Is this what happens?

It is possible that the DVD only has the files and isn't bootable. If so, we can help you create a bootable ISO from the files to burn to a DVD.

I was looking for a motherboard to replace my old biostar motherboard that will only support 2 gigs 667mhz, and only overclocks my e5200 up to 3 ghz even when maxing out the voltage. I am on a very tight budget, and this Msi board caught my attention http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813130219

Then I checked the MSI website to get more information on this board
http://global.msi.com.tw/index.php?func=proddesc&maincat_no=1&cat2_no=&cat3_no=&prod_no=1711

This board catches my attention because....

Its New
Its a Micro Atx with the Pci express x1 below the Pci express 2.0
Drmos Really caught my attention because it states that it makes the board energy efficent, offers a lower tempature and a more stable overclocking enviorment

Do you think its a good budget motherboard for a gamer and an overclocker like me??

A:MSI Digital G45M Digital a Good Replacement for an Old Biostar Micro Atx motherboard?

The Gigabyte GA-EP43-DS3L will do the job nicely and help you save money. It is also a more reliable choice compared to the MSI board.

This is about downloading. But, legally via DRM.

I have become a fan of DRM since starting to use Steam to buy and download games at discount. When I got more Battlefield games, I found that EA had their own DRM called Origin. I didn't want to use any of EA's stuff due to the fact that I had an ordeal trying to manage my EA accounts. Ea started buying up a number of online gaming sites and all my accounts got all messed up. Furthermore, they gave me a birthday coupon I could use to buy a game. This was at the same time that they were changin the way their website worked. Well, my purchase got lost in the mess (fortunately, I didn't spend anymore than what the coupon was worth) and I walked away fed up. As such, I was really nervouse registering my Battlefield games with EA just so I could get the extras you could only get by registering. However, I logged into Origin with an old account and most of my ID info was still there. So, considering the fact that all I would lose is not being able to download free extras, I took a chance. I've had no problems with their DRM.

Now, Amazon has it's own DRM for stuff that they sell. I like the idea a lot because it means I can buy stuff and download it instantly. Plus (and this is something I consider fantastic over all for DRM), I don't create waste. However, (and this is because of my EA ordeal) can it work the same way as Steam in that I can buy something and it's available to me through my account... Read more

new to this stuff like downloading music from the net to cd's(how-to) step by step and can view pictures from my camera, how do I file, print ,etc. thanks for any help.

A:cd downloads/ digital camera how-to

Hiya

Going through some of the old posts, like I do, and thought I'd answer this one.

For the first part about music, I assume that you're downloading mp3's. You can download these to your harddrive, then using a CDR and some software, burn these onto your disk. But you will have to download them to the HD first.

As for the second, what is the software and make of your camera?

Right click on Internet Explorer on your Desktop and choose/Properties/Advanced. Scroll down and check off "Allow software to run or install even if the signature is invalid".

I'm working on converting all my CD's over to iTunes. I've seen that iTunes has the digital booklets available if you purchase the entire album directly from them. Does anyone know of any websites where I can download the digital booklets either from iTunes or from another source? Thanks.

A:iTunes - Digital Booklet Downloads

If you are talking about the tracks and the album covers, iTunes already gets that information to your machine when you import your CDs, providing they are the retail CDs. The information on those CDs are used to pull the information from a database (the CDDB).

Other than that I have no idea

I've recently ordered a PC from CyberPower, and had to buy a copy of Windows XP from Newegg to run the OS on it, of course; I wound up purchasing XP Pro SP3, as it has served me very well on a previous computer in the past.

After installing all the drivers that came on the discs, everything appeared to be working normally. However, no downloads of mine will work. Instead, on every single download when I try to open it I get a warning declaring that there is no valid digital signature; when I press Run anyway, I usually receive a Corrupt file message of some sort. Both digital signature and corrupt file messages occur downloading very trusted programs at their home page, including Firefox, iTunes, Ad-Aware, AVG, Spybot: S&D, Steam, and Mozilla Opera, off the top of my head.

This only happens when I'm trying to install programs I've downloaded from the internet. The connection works fine, the download proceeds smoothly, but the installation is always where I fail. I've spent several hours with a MS employee yesterday and we both seem stumped. Installations from inserting a disc appear to be working fine, as I've had no problem installing drivers as well as programs like Microsoft Office Enterprise 2007.

This problem has become more than a little annoying, and I hope you guys can help provide some better insight as to what the problem is and hopefully help me rectify it! Thank you very much for your time and patience.

A:Valid digital signatures/corrupted downloads

After you download the file, copy it onto a flash drive and try to run it on a different computer. That way we will at least know whether the problem is with the internet download or with the process of running the program.

I currently use the Microsoft Works Calendar as a PDA keeping track of appointments, birthdays, etc. but find that I can't print out reports according to categories. I can only print out days, weeks or months. Is there a good, free calendar that I can use and be able to import the information that I already have in the Works Calendar into that calendar?
Thanks in advance.

Besides around the mods or whatever. Thanks

I'm looking for digital cameras in the sub $200 range (preferably $100-180). The only restrictions are the camera has to be good, must have a built in screen to review the photos and I would like it to support SD but that is not required (SD will save money since I have a Nintendo Wii). One last thing. It has to be purchased at Best Buy (we're paying in BestBuy gift cards).

Thanks for any input.

I have decided that I'm tired of our video camera/digital camera thing. The thing is so tempermental it's difficult to use, the photo quality sucks, the film quality is excellent (if you are at JUST the right distance since the zoom is stuck), but I'm ready to just find something smaller and just for pictures for the most part. My sister in law has a little HP camera that does a couple of minutes of filming, something like that wouldn't be bad, but I'm more interested in superb picture quality.

Anyone know of anything that works well??

Thanks in advance!!

I've had a lot of problems with my digital cable box. I got it installed on Friday night. It's now Sunday night. It hasn't worked all day today. On Saturday night, the first problems began. The video was starting to skip during an on Demand movie about once every 5 minutes. Then it got worse and worse, until it was unwatchable. This also happened on the regular channels. At this point, I plugged the cable directly into the TV and found that the signal was fine, although I only had the basic channels (about 14 channels, 3 of which are spanish, another 3 shopping, and 2 are religious). :-/

After having comcast send multiple signals, nothing still worked. After several times unplugging/plugging it back in, the set stopped receiving channels at all. Now it just said "0." on the display. Also, by trying to plug this cable into the televison directly, I only received one channel, a public access channel about the police and missing people.

I'm not sure if it was the box or not. Comcast is coming tomorrow with a new box, but now I'm worried that the signal coming in isn't right.

The internet and phone have been working throughout this entire ordeal.

Edit: I also forgot that I went down to the splitter which the comcast guy installed and I switched the cables on the switcher, and I still have the same problem. The internet still works.

Thanks in advance for your help.

I have a Panasonic 6MP camera....takes good pics and although I am only taking JPEGs (not TIFF) pics they are good when viewing on the computer......When I burn them on a CD to view on the TV the resolution drops considerably. even when viewing directly from the camera to the TV it is not all that great???

The TV is a Samsung 67" DLP TV....1080P HD.

Is there anything I can do to get better resolution from these pics to the TV for viewing of everyone?

Also, I have NERO for burning a CD of the pics to the player on the tv for viewing.....should I be using something else OR should I be burning to a DVD for better resolution?

I am thinking that the TV size is perhaps just too big such that the resolution gets pixelated when "blowing up" to a larger size??

any tips?
