I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hi,

I am running XP Home SP3 on an Asus 1005HA netbook

Every time I boot up I get a message to say that either I can press F1 to enter setup to set date/time or press F2 to load default values

If I choose F1 and enter the correct date/time and press F10 to save and exit - XP then starts up normally but the next time I boot up, the same problem occurs.

[If I select F2, then XP loads normally]

What can I do to fix this?

Thanks for any help in advance

I was trying to sync Windows time with Internet timer Server. I was following this tutorial : Time Synchronization - Turn On or Off in Windows 8

For the first option, I couldn't couldn't find the necessary options.

For the second option, I've already set my settings right.
But, still my windows 8 time was showing wrong.

I had to change my BIOS time to make the necessary change to Windows time.

So, what happened here. Can windows 8 override BIOS time? or How can I set Windows time to Internet time server even if my BIOS time is wrong.

Thank you for your help.

A:Synchronize windows time with internet time server.

Yes the OS can override the BIOS time. It uses UTC to update. Check your time zone in Date & Time tab, to see if that is why your time is off.

Hi,
we have a requirement to get the following data through code (c# or c++)

Boot Time - After powering on the device, the boot duration is the time between the start of the OS kernel and the launch of the logon screen.

Logon Time - The time between user enter credentials and the desktop being shown.

Start up Time ?  The time between user authentication, all startup apps loading and the device being ?ready?

Can i use WMI to get this or are there other options?

It's critical that my PC keeps the exact time as I record TV shows on it so just a few seconds off one way or the other will make me miss the start or end of my shows.

I found it was drifting off too much between syncs so I found a program that lets me set it to sync daily, however it seems like most of the time it gets the time completely wrong, often as much as 30-90 seconds off. I did notice that when syncing manually in the time settings it normally gets the right time each time, so I don't know why the scheduled syncs get the wrong time.

I did try several of the time servers with the same results.

Is there just no way to get the Windows time sync to work properly and if not are there free third party programs that can do it reliably?

Thanks

XP Pro SP2, all latest updates. When I reboot, I can correctly sync to a time server, but after an unknown amount of time it goes back to saying "The RPC server is unavailable" instantly after clicking Update Now, regardless of what server I tell it to sync to. I also noticed that if I view my nForce Networking Controller status, then click Properties and go to the Authentication tab, everything is greyed out. If I hit OK without changing anything (I can't change it even if I wanted to), a message pops up saying "An unexpected condition occured. Not all of your requested changes in settings could be made" and just goes back to that window. I have to hit cancel to close it. These two issues seem to be related since right after I reboot, the Authentication tab works normally (as well as the time sync like I mentioned above), and they both seem to stop working at the same time. I have no idea if it happens after something I run or if it's just after a certain amount of time or what. Any ideas?

Hey,

I am not really convinced that this is an issue found only in Windows 2000 but it seems like a good place to start. My problem is this. I am running a local area network with Windows 2000 workstations and a Windows 2000 server. Every so often the workstations reference the server for the time, and it changes every time, mainly because it can never be synchronized to the second, so there is always a slight change. That would be no issue for me, however I am running a time sensitive program that locks and unlocks doors at certain times, and every time there is a time change in the internal clock, it updates the software and in turn that updates the door computers. Again, that would not be so bad, but every time it updates the doors automatically default to locked, which can and yes has happened in the middle of the working day locking people in and out of places. The only solution presently is to keep this workstation that runs this specific software unconnected to the network, which limits the uses of the machine greatly.

So I guess my question is how do I stop the workstations from referencing the clock in the server and changing the time. IF I can stop that update then I can stop that information from going to the door and I can stop locking people in their offices. What do you think?

Thanks for all your help.

Oh, one more thing, when writing any helpful suggestions word them like I am four so I can make sure I can follow them.

Thanks again!

so im kinda new to this site, and was wondering if i could get some help.
I run a Windows 7 64 bit operating system, and lately, my computer clock has been wrong. at first it said i was back in 2005, (uh.... not since the last time i checked haha) and for some reason i couldn't access the settings. i tried accessing it by right clicking the clock on the task bar and selecting adjust date/time. no such luck. so i tried going through the control panel, and again, nothing. ive attempted restore points, and countless virus scans to see if that might be the problem. nothing. so i finally went through my BIOS and changed my clock to the appropriate time, and it stays there, (yes i did change the BIOS battery to check that route, and it wasn't that). ive done different searches online to see if i could find something to help, but nothing has come up. however, today, i tried going through the command prompt. i ran the code

C:\users\*******\net time

i seem to always get the response, "could not locate a time server." so im seriously lost, and any help anyone can provide would be much appreciated haha

A:no time server?

What do you mean by 'couldn't access the settings'?
If you left-click on your clock, click change date and time settings, you should have an option to change your time zone and such. Are these grayed out or something?
If so you might not have administrative rights for some reason. Log in to an administrator account if you have one and try.

Hi all,
My internet time is failing with the following error:

NtpClient was unable to set a manual peer to use as a time source because of DNS resolution error on ''. NtpClient will try again in 3473457 minutes and double the reattempt interval thereafter. The error was: The requested name is valid, but no data of the requested type was found. (0x80072AFC)

I assume either my ISP/router is the issue or something else strange is going on. I would hazard to guess that the ". should actually read "time.windows.com"?

I tried changing my DNS server to the google ones as well as adding a server to my hosts file but it still returns the same error. Just curious what exactly the message means if it really is DNS related as hard-coding the IP into the internet time requester returns the same error.

Hi,

The event log keeps on spitting the following out:-

Source: w32time Event Id: 14
"Attempt to set time which differs by more than 12 hours aborted"

I've followed the registry adjustments as per Microsoft to the word, and configured the time manually to be in sync. Yet I am still receiving this Event Error....

Should I adjust my local time zone??? to ... coher with another time zone. Yet my users will not dig it.

P.S. My server's time zone is: GMT+2:00 Harare, Pretoria - South Africa

As a christmas present I picked up a new laptop for my girlfriend and would like to have it all setup before I give it to her.

I have now spent a day and a half trying to get my homegroup network setup and running properly. I just finally was able to get the "join homegroup" option on the laptop (before I was only getting the "create" one both LAN desktop and WiFi laptop).

But now, when I enter the password and hit join I get an error message saying the laptop cannot connect to the homegroup, and the "trouble shooter" is running me in circles.

I've read that both computer must be running on the same time server and have the clocks syncronized with one another. The laptop connects to time.windows.com without any issues. No matter what I try on the desktop I get nothing but error messages. I've tried all default time servers, and many I have found online without any success.

Obviously I'm missing something, can you guys help me find what it is?

I would take a look at your router/access point/whatever it is that supplies your wireless. I'd be willing to bet it has some 'firewall' style functionality, and separates your wireless and hard lines into two separate networks.

Dear all:
I have an in-house W2K Server OS that has finance application software running on it. Recently a lot of my users are experiencing connection time-out problem when running that finance application's client software on the client machines. All the users can still go on internet and access local file sharing.

Is it a NIC hardware problem or it is a W2K Server DHCP problem? I have users who obtain IP from DHCP as well as fixed IP. Or the bandwidth is not big enough to handle all clients' usage (current 10/100Mbps base for 20 concurrent usage)?

Thank you all... >__<

A:Network Connection Time-Out over Server

If other things work OK for the same users then the problem is not with the NICs or the DHCP.

Maybe the server is under heavy load or the number of simultaneous connections to it is limited? Check the server logs to find out and check the CPU.

When the timeout occurs, can the clients still ping the server? Maybe you hav some faulty cables or networking gear somewhere between the clients and the server?

3. I go into registry internet settings and delete all things proxy.

4. I restart my computer and it is fixed. Well until the next day that is...

This may or may not work for you, but it's something to try that shouldn't take alot of time.

Let me start by telling you I find your forum brilliant.
I am spending more and more time here.
Am starting reading the tutorials now.

I have Windows7 and use Firefox browser. I also use Lastpass for my login.
Every time I start a new thread or a new page in a thread Lastpass logs me in again and I get the message that I am being redirected (see attachment)
This takes time.
Any idea how to get rid of it?

A:Why do I get the redirecting message all the time?

Your site seems to help me solve things myself.
I normally set all sites in Lastpass to "autologin".
I have unchecked this for Seven forums and now the redirection is finished.
So SOLVED

Hi, I've recently been getting bluescreens with a different error message every time. I've tried updating some drivers, sdf-scannow, chkdsk :C /f /r (which says it detects corrupt files but cannot fix them), and reinstalling windows. The crashes started after installing and playing pubg (a game) which ran fine for a few hours before increasingly frequent bluescreens started, after which I eventually reinstalled windows and still got crashes but much less often.

I'm running windows 10 pro 64-bit, intel core i3-2100 (x2), 8gb RAM, gtx 1050 graphics card with driver 391.01 (have tried several drivers).

It is a desktop PC, some of the hardware is from 2011, but it was working fine until 2 nights ago when this started and has not been moved or bashed. It's not the version of windows which came with it.

Some of the bluescreen messages are: CRITICAL STRUCTURE CORRUPTION, SYSTEM THREAD EXCEPTION NOT HANDLED, KERNEL SECURITY CHECK FAILURE, BAD POOL HEADER, MEMORY MANAGEMENT.

Thank you.

Hi

You seem to have a virus/malware. The reason the file is "not there" is that it is probably hidden.
To check for Viruses/Malware you have to start a new thread in the Virus/Malware support section.
First you should read the "First Steps" document and gather all the required reports.
If you cannot complete a step, just skip it but be sure to include this information in your post
Then start a new thread in the virus/malware section and attach the reports you have created.
