Lenovo G450 laptop not booting

Q: Lenovo G450 laptop not booting

I cleaned the keyboard and packed the laptop, since then it's not booting. What are the possible reasons

Preferred Solution: Lenovo G450 laptop not booting

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

You need to give us a lot more details. What did you clean it with, when how.

and what do you mean "Packed up" the laptop.

Long post warning. So since 3 weeks ago when I'm on chrome I'd get a plug in fail, then my windows (everything bUT cursor) would freeze up for 10 minutes.I'd tried disabling and enabling various flashes on chrome but nothing fixed the problem.Since last week my laptop was very slow on startup, it'd also freeze on the startup window. 10 mins later it'd unfreeze, I then try to open something and the whole thing would freeze again!I've tried:-reinstalling chrome-Turning all but microsoft services off at start up using msconfig-uninstalling unused applications (that took hours cos it kept freezing)-disk checks/defrag-ran anti virus check-cleaned out the dust in the fanI should mention that I'm on windows 7 x64, 4Gb ram (any specs i should add?) also the fact that the pc starts fine in safe mode and safe mode with network. I also don't know what I've done with the cd that came with the laptop.I'm at my wits end with the waiting for it to u freeze only to refreeze. Can my laptop be fixed or has my hard disk completely given up? I appreciate any help given. Thank you!!

If it works perfectly in Safe mode it doesn't sound like a hardware issue. Did you try to see the system log for errors?Did you update the drivers recently or insert a new hardware?

I just bought a notebook Lenovo G450 and I had drivers not found problem. My OS is Windows XP SP2. In Device Manager, there are four "Audio Device on High Definition Audio Bus" device with exclamation mark. Below is the link to the screenshot of my device manager (pardon me, you have copy-paste the link manually since my post count is still below 5 so I cannot post link/image here):

There is no sound problem since I had successfully installed the sound driver from lenovo (The name is "Conexant High Definition SmartAudio 221" as you can see on the screenshot above) and the sound is working without problem. I also had installed Microsoft UAA Bus Driver before installing the sound driver.

I had tried installing realtek and nvidia high definition audio driver and all required drivers from lenovo (http://consumersupport.lenovo.com/en/DriversDownloads/drivers_list.aspx?CategoryID=370748), but still no avail. The four yellow exclamation marks is still exist.

So I need help to identify what actually are the devices that shown as "Audio Device on High Definition Audio Bus"? And where can I get the driver for that devices?

These are the device IDs:

I adjusted the partitions of my lenovo g480 and accidentally deleted the hidden partitions. I restarted and the laptop just boots up with a blank screen. I tried pressing the novo button and the selection menu shows up. Whatever I select on the popup (normal startup, bios setup, boot menu, system recovery), nothing happens; and all I'm left is a blank screen. I tried connecting the laptop into an external display and still nothing shows up in the external display. I tried removing the battery and the 30s power button pressing, and it didn't work. Need this laptop for work. Hard disk when used in another computer the files are still there.

A:Lenovo laptop not booting up (G480)

hi RZPogi,
After removing the AC adapter, battery, and HDD, can you try to hold the power button for 20secs to remove residual power again on the machine. When finished, plug the AC adapter only then power up the machine and try accessing the BIOS via the F2 key or Novo button..
If successful, hit F9 to load defaults and hit F10 to save and exit. On another machine, connect the HDD and  backup your files then format it. When finished, put back the HDD on the G480 and boot from a Win7 installer via the F12 key to reinstall Windows 7.
How to Create a Bootable Windows 7 Installation USB Flash Drive
How to Create a Windows 7 Universal Installation Disc
if the G480 came preloaded with Win7 Home Premium 64bit, reinstalling this same OS will automatically find the product key that's embedded in the motherboard and will activate your copy of Windows.
If the above steps doesn't help then there's likely a problem with the BIOS and needs to be reflashed. I would recommend you check these authorized service centers and report the issue:

My Laptop was working fine. Suddenly couple of weeks back when I power on my laptop, indicator light was on for 5 secs and then went off. No fan running  and it didn't boot.I tried the following:1. Pressing and holding the power button for 15 secs2. Tried with Novo buttonIt didnt work for one whole day. the next day when I powered on it started working as ususal. I am not sure what was the issue. Again couple of days ago I have faced the same above problem. It didn't boot for one full day. I took it to servce center(Lenovo authorized service center), service person examined by opening up back panel. He tried few things and told, theres a problem with mother board, I have to replace it. He's not sure what is the problem. Then Yesterday morning I tried powering on the laptop and its working as usual. My Lenovo Yoga 710 15" 15ISK laptop has become bit unpredictable. My laptop is out of warranty. Any help is appreciated on how to resolve this problem.

I tried booting up my laptop this morning but all it's doing is flashing the Lenovo logo, powering down and repeating the process. I can hear the fan starting up and shutting off as well. I did a bit of research and found that this is a common problem and I tried the potential solutions but so far nothing has worked. I tried starting in safe mode, opening task manager and just pressing the power button to turn it off but it's not responding to any of the commands. When ever I remove the battery, unplug the power cord and hold the button for 30 seconds and put the battery back it in just resumes the loop without me even pressing the power button. When I close my laptop it seems like it's shutdown (no sleep light or noises from the fan) It was working fine all day yesterday there was a bit of a power outage while it was plugged into the outlet but it was still working without an issue Should I just let it run until the battery runs out? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Thanks

Hey guys, windows 7 unit which the owner says he suspects has virus but he also told me that his company checked for viruses but did not locate any, I ran a few virus scans but those did not produce anything. Symptoms are when I boot, it sometimes goes to windows but takes a long time and just doesn't get to the desktop, it is hanging after the logon screen. In safe mode it goes to desktop in normal time and laptop functions as normal, any ideas why it works as normal only in safe mode but can't reach the desktop in normal mode please?.

Some program or startup is causing the slowdown. You can do a clean boot and from there add services until you find the one causing the problem. It would be a good idea to disable your startup items also.

Hello, My parents have owned a Lenovo laptop for a couple of years now. However, recently this issue showed up and I wondered whether there is a chance there is a solution to this problem which I could try myself, since the laptop its warranty already expired. If I recall correctly, the model of the laptop is the Lenovo IdeaPad Flex 2, running Windows 10. So here is the issue; the laptop has issues turning on. Oddly enough, it is not a very consistent issue. Eventually, the laptop does turn on. The problem is that this sometimes takes hours, other times the laptop appears to be able to boot instantly as it normally would. I have no idea what affects this. When pressing the power button, the keyboard backlight starts flashing. It does this until the laptop completely boots, and as I said, the amount of time this takes varies. I already tried looking for solutions on different forums, but they usually concern the issue where the keyboard backlight flashed and the laptop simply will not boot at all, which is not the case here, as it eventually does but often it takes a while.Other solutions suggested a certain amount of flashes meant a certain issue or failure. Problem here is that the amount of flashes seem to be random, so it is not as if it just keeps looping a certain amount of flashes as it varies. This leaves me puzzled as to what could be the culprit. I am not sure what to do, especially since I have not owned a Windows-based machine in a whi... Read more

Hello everyone. I've been given a Lenovo Z570 laptop with little background information other than the fact that it refuses to boot. A clean install is not an option at this point due to the personal information on the laptop. When I turn on the laptop, it displays the Lenovo sign, then boots into a screen that says Windows Error Recovery. I've been working through the troubleshooting guide here with little to no luck. Here is what I encountered on each step:

1. Using "Last Known Good Configuration" results in a black screen that does not go away or change.

2. Using "Repair your computer" under Advanced Boot Options leads to a black screen. If I try using a Windows installation disk, the screen hangs on the initial "Setup is starting" screen indefinitely. Using a repair disk gets farther- it lets me choose some settings, but then hangs on a screen that says "Searching for Windows Installations". I'm not sure what a UEFI install is but I assume my hard disk is not UEFI because I did not see any options in the BIOS

Edit: I'm sure that the installation disk is not corrupted: tried running it in another Windows 7 laptop and it loaded without problems.

3. The hard drive is still detected in BIOS set up

4. Trying the System Restore leads to a black screen

5. As mentioned above, the repair disk hangs on "Searching for Windows Installations"

7. Booting into Safe Mode with Networking leads to a black screen

8. Not available,... Read more

Hi Harsh,
Welcome to Lenovo Community!
I?m sorry to hear that your Y510p Laptop is not turning ON. I suggest you to perform the Flee-Power, below are the steps to perform the same:

Remove the battery and any other peripheral device connected to the computer.
Hold the power button for 10-15 seconds and then connect only the AC Adapter and try to turn ON the computer.

If the issue persists even after performing Flee-Power, I would suggest you to contact our Technical Support for further Assistance to get the details of the nearest Authorized Service Center to get the issue analyzed.

I'm considering buying this card, although I know very little about it really... I just like Matrox, and its cheap over here

Anyone here have one? I want to know how it performs in Windows and under XFree86... and also wheter it has VGA outputs or only DVI (my flat-panel is missing its DVI input)

A:Anyone have experience with the Matrox G450?

I used one in a system I built for work. It has two analog connectors, no DVI. I hooked two Sony G520s to it for a 3200x1200 desktop. (I hate all the message windows insisting on popping up across the two screens though. It would be nice if they had a patch to make them pop up on one screen or the other.) Nice card for business but not much for 3D. Runs fine on Windows 2000.

After many years of enjoying my Lenovo G450, suddenly it wont boot to HDD despite that the boot order is in place. Everytime I turn on, the system is attempting to boot from PXE (Broadcom in my case). I check the BIOS configuration and there is no selection to disable PXE to LAN or there is no such a selection (where it should be there, right?) While G460 has this selection I wonder why it's not present in G450. (What's the matter?)
So now my Lenovo G450 sits on a corner and waiting for a solution.
Any advise is much appreciated. Thanks a lot!

A:Laptop is not booting. It starts booting but restarts before it gets boot properly.

First thing to do is run an extended (NOT just 10 minute) diagnostic on the hard drive.  If you need further assistance, post the results of that (numeric error codes) along with the full model information - i.e., Inspiron N5110, XPS L501x, etc.).

Press F12 a few times immediately after powering on to get into the diagnostics.

Hello there, occassional lurker, first time poster, hopefully someone here will be able to help

I've been setting my laptop to dual boot xp pro, and Ubuntu on a seperate partition. All was going well, until xp decided to die altogther. I don't have that error to hand, but it's gone a little further now.

Was going to install xp pro on a 3rd partition, and it started up fine. Now I can boot fine to Ubuntu, and the 2nd version of xp. However, the original xp is still having issues.

Now, when booting up, gets BSOD - bad_pool_caller. Code at the end is: 0x000000c2 (0x00000007,0x00000CD4,0x00000060,0x86F7E1FC)

Everything I've read suggests this is talking about a hardware or software conflict. However, I've not installed any new hardware. I suspect there is a software conflict between the two versions of xp, but I can't see how that can happen.

I can boot into the 1st copy of xp in safe mode, however, explorer.exe fails to start up. Tried running it in task manager to no avail.

I forgot to add - I am using GNU GBRUB to boot between the 3 operating systems.

EDIT 2: Tried it again to boot 1st xp in safe mode - new error for windows product activation - a problem is preventing windows from accurately checking the licence for this computer error code 0x800004005

Hello.  I do not know where to create a "New" post so I am replying to this somewhat related post.  I have a M710q ThinkCenter Tiny and I have been having this problem since November, 2018.  When I was on vacation in November, my wife called me to report that my M710q has been rebooting on its own on "Preparing automatic repair" so I told her to just power it down.  When I got home from vacation, I tried to boot from the emergency disc that I created for this system.  It won't boot to the emergency repair options, instead, it goes to the "Your PC encountered an error and we need to repair it..." then it goes through the "Preparing automatic repair...".  I bought an SSD drive, bought a Win10 Pro license from MS hoping to just install a new OS.  BUT it won't let me boot up to the installation DVD!  It goes to "Preparing automatic repair...".  What should I do?  Is it the bios that is causing this problem?  Something is directing it to boot from the some internal UEFI boot! Help on this is much appreciated.  I just want to boot to the repair option so I can probably repair the BCD in the original boot drive.  Also, I downloaded the diagnostics package into a bootable USB and that boots up with no problem.  I ran all the diag and everything passed - so there is no problem with the hardware! Thanks in advance.

A:Re: Lenovo m83 not booting from noting

For future reference, there's a blue 'Start a Topic' button on the left side for starting new threads.
Just to be clear, you have a Tiny, and wish to install from a Windows install DVD to a new SSD?  You have a DVD drive attached to your Tiny?  IIs it a factory permanently attached drive?  Have you changed the boot order in the BIOS so that DVD drive is ahead of other drive?  You may need to change the Boot Mode in the BIOS, see this other thread.

Hidy ho all,

I have a Lenovo G505s I bought in august. Up to this point, its been a great machine. This morning (11/20/2014) I installed some updates from windows update. around 4:30 PM today, I rebooted the machine, because I had an hour break in between classes. During that reboot it tried to install those updates, and it said it failed. After the failure it said it was reverting back to the prior state before the updates were installed.

It then rebooted again. It got to the Lenovo splash screen, and some little white text on the bottom of the screen has said for the past half hour "Updating your system (5%)" with the windows 8 little circle thing spinning around just above it.

I did try restarting it by holding down the power button, but it came right back to this screen.

Google has turned up nothing yet. Has anyone else had this issue? If so, have they (you) been able to fix it?

A:Lenovo G505s not booting

I think the quickest way around this issue is to let the OS try to install the updates it might take a while to do so(which is a pain) but I would wait because you don't want to mess up your system you might loose more than the time you will wait

I am having issues with booting my laptop. The other day I tried turned on my laptop and it came up with a message which disappeared before I could check what it said. It then put me in a loop with restarting my laptop with options and now it isn't booting at all. Each time I try and power on the machine the screen goes black and the lights on the front to show power and charge light up. Then after about 20 or so seconds, it shuts down. I also tried pressing the OneKey Recovery button on the left side of the device however this did the same as the power button. I stripped down the laptop to check the CMOS battery to see if that was the issue but the battery was healthy and showing 3.19 volts. What else could this issue be?  Thanks, James W.

So, I have a Lenovo Thinkpad Z61T 9660CTO which I bought in 2007. It has served me well. Yesterday, it was working perfectly, albeit with some exxtra high heating at the bottom, close to 60-70 degrees Celcius. Then , I wanted to put in a new SSD into it. So, I took out the old HDD and then connected it, and the other SSD via USB casing to another computer running a disk cloning software. Tried it did not work. Now, I put back the old HDD into the Thinkpad, it does not start up again at all. Even the first screen which says "Thinkpad" press Blue button for recovery" does not come up now. Hard drive is not it, since the screen does not switch on at ALL. If it was HDD failure, it would say something like HDD not detected. But in this case, it does not even show the initial Thinkpad screen. So, this may be a loose connection somewhere (even though I did not remove the casing at all while removing the HDD) Both times, I removed and reattached the HDD, with the power cable removed from the Thinkpad, but, the battery was still inside the chassis. Short circuit? Bad! Someone help.

In case its not clear, when I press the power button, I do not arrive at the press Del to enter BIOS screen at all. No THINKPAD screen. Just black screen and no HDD activity

The machine has no optical drive. The only thing I can gather is that USB and or legacy boot mode are not enabeled. As I am totally blind, I have very little knowledge of the bios of this particular device, and any decent explanations are scarce.I know how to get to them (press f2 for bios and f12 for boot menu I believe) though anything else is beyond me.Could somebody tell me what to press at the keyboard to enable USB mode, and or legacy mode, if that particular option is needed? And by the way, for those curious about how I gathered information about the recovery screens, I use an app called seeing AI, which takes screenshots of anything you tell it to, and tries to tel you what it sees.Even with good lighting, the seeing AI app isn't of much use to help navigating the bios menu. Most problematic, I can't tell exactly what order the app sees the options, as compared to what order they are actually in.I would be most greatful if anyone could help, as this is the only ... Hello,I recently bought (used) a Lenovo H520 that will not boot. When I press the power button, the fans spin up and the power button stays solid on. The disk read/write light quickly flashes about every three seconds. Absolutely nothing happens on screen so I cannot access the BIOS. I got it cheap due to a bad hard drive and used an old Windows 7 drive instead. I upgraded it to Windows 10 (x64, wiping the 32-bit 7) and it worked fine. I do not know what changed between then and now but now it will not boot. I have already attempted booting without the hard drive to the same effect.Thank you.

Every time I try to turn on my lenovo n22 windows notebook, the 'Lenovo' boot screens appears, sits for a moment, goes black, then comes on again. This has been happening on loop for hours. I have tried rebooting it, to no avail. Any thoughts?

My Lenovo B590 was working fine yesterday, today suddenly I can't make it boot up. I have recorded a video that demonstrates the behaviour of the Laptop on Power On:https://youtu.be/T9IcxsIgRcE It remains in an endless loop of powering up for a sec, making some click-sound and turning off immediately. Longpress power button ends the loop. AC cable is connected, battery is inserted. Things I tried that didn't solve the issue:Power On only with AC cable (normally and with 20 sec long Power press)Power On only with battery (normally and with 20 sec long Power press)Removing both RAM and trying it with one each in each of both RAM slotsProbably an issue with the motherboard? Anything else I could try?

Welcome to the Lenovo Community !
Sorry to hear of the problem you are experiencing.  I would try removing the optical drive and then try powering the laptop up.  If that doesn't work then remove the hard drive and power up.  Since the click sounds mechanical in nature, that would lead me to suspect either one of those devices.  If the laptop powers up with a drive removed then suspect that drive as being faulty.
Your model's User Guide will explain how to remove those drives.  Here is a link to that manual for your reference.....

I am totally disappointed in Lenovo's customer support. My lenovo 710s was bought less than 1 year ago (as of 10/6/2017, when I sent it in for repairs) and had 2 years warranty (1+1 year of extended warranty). I sent my laptop for repair due to a white spot issue on the monitor, affecting viewing of webpages and videos. However, the laptop was returned after 3 weeks without any fixes/repairs, as Lenovo claimed that it was a cosmetic issue. I wrote a message on their customer care website on 3/7/2017. However, they ignored me and there was no reply to date.  I thought Lenovo is a reliable and popular brand. However, it turned out to be a horrible decision, much to my dismay!

Hello, I am running windows 8 on a lenovo yoga 2 pro, and suddenly, it won't boot. The power light will turn on, and the capslock and backlight work, but the screen doesn't work. It doesn't even show the Lenovo boot screen

Try and boot with charger plugged in. If this works try installing the latest updates you may have restart and install more than once so be patient. If this doesn't work check with your device maker.

Hi, I have a Lenovo Ideacentre Stick 300 that is currently being a little painful. This device came with Windows 10 and I need to load Ubuntu. Using Rufus to make a bootable USB like I do on regular PCs is not working, the booting manager is not seeing the USB device. Additionally, the BIOS does not have a boot option to select USB as the first option to boot. I was able to flash the BIOS through USB and at that time the boot manager was able to see my USB so I know it is possible but it is only a matter of how the bootable USB and the Ubuntu image are in the USB. Do any of you have any suggestions? Thanks,
