Media Smart Removal Error - Windows 10

Q: Media Smart Removal Error - Windows 10

I am trying to uninstall Media Smart from my 64 bit HPE-570t computer that has been upgraded to Windows 10. I tried to load the "fix" for the uninstall error but it won't load Media Smart because I am no longer running the required operating system. When I try to uninstall one of the components, I get a message that states there is a second copy of the same component installed and asks do I want to also uninstall that as well. I confirm yes and then the following error is received. Error: The product definition file is lost. Is there a way to either reload Media Smart on Windows 10 so it can then be correctly uninstalled or is there another way to uninstall it under Windows 10. Using 3rd party removal tools has resulted in the same error.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

hi, for the last few days i have been getting a Card Error on my Smart Media card (128M) when using it with my FujiFilm A201 camera.

it works ok in the Card reader i have. so i saved all the info, then Formatted (Fat 32 & Fat)
now it just say Card Error, quickly followed by Card not initialized.

the card is only a couple of months old and the contacts look clean and unscratched.

anyone know how to fix this issue?

cheers

What did you do different to get the error?

Format in the camera for best results
do you have access to another camera/reader to try it in?

Hi, I have recently upgraded my Vista O.S. to Windows 7, 64 bit professional on my HP Pavalion PC at home. I tried to re-install my HP media Smart Server model name 490/495 on the new windows 7 professional using the Software Installation Disks Version 1.1 that came with the Media Smart Server (copyright 2007), however I got this error message: "You cannot install HP Media Smart Server on this version of windows". Please note that I have a wireless LAN at home, and I have connected the media smart server through an ethernet cable to the PC.  I then connected the media smart server by ethernet cable to the wireless modem, and again tried to install the media smart server using the on line sources. This time I was successfull in installing the home server partially, as when it was trying to install the Home Server connector I got the following messages: "Joining windows Home server" OK"Configuring Computer back up" failedthen it asked me to go back or cancel. I tried going back several times but it stopped with the same error message"Configuring Computer back up" failed. So I canceled. Now I can only read from the media Smart Server, but I do not have any other controls such as editing, etc.

Whenever I insert CD's or DVD's into either of my optical drives, Windows Media Player as well as My Computer recognize that media had been added. The problem is, when I eject the media (whether it's pushing the eject button on the drive or right clicking as selecting eject) My computer as well as WMP fail to recognize that the media has been removed. If I insert a new cd or dvd, both my computer as well as WMP see it as the original piece of media. The other strange thing is iTunes is able to accurately determine if there is media in a drive or not.

Any idea's as to what is going on with my drives? I'm pretty sure it's just a software issue with Vista or WMP, since iTunes doesn't seem to be affected. I have no idea on how to resolve this. Thanks in advance for any help

A:"My Computer" and Windows Media Player doesn't recognize the removal of optical media

Just a quick update with things that I've tried. First I checked for errors on the C drive to see if a file or something was corrupt. After that didn't work, I uninstalled and reinstalled the drives, again to no avail.

Any input would be greatly appreciated.

The error was based on the drive reporting a bad SMART value. I began moving my data over to a safe location and the windows pop up error kept returning. Frustrated with the ongoing warnings, I clicked a box in the pop up window to keep windows from flagging the error again. That worked and I?ve since removed the failing drive from the computer. Now of course I?d like to have the windows pop up warnings restored to the default settings so I can be warned if a new SMART error occurs in the future. I can?t figure out how to do that. Hello,

this is my first post here, so please bear with me. Yesterday, my husband clicked on a popup and accidentally downloaded the Smart Engine virus onto his laptop I've been trying to get rid of it, but to no avail. I followed instructions to remove it by downloading Malwarebytes and running rkill. There were several hundred things found, which I then quarantined and deleted. However, it's still on the computer. The internet connection will not work at all, for one thing. For this reason I am using my desktop in order to research this and do any downloading of files/programs needed.
It's been several hours of trying to research this out, I need the help of someone that actually knows computers (unlike me).

A:Smart Shopper Removal

Hi -

What happens when you try to uninstall ShopperReports from your "Uninstall Programs" in Control Panel?

Go to Start > Control Panel, click on Uninstall a Program. Uninstall the following

ShopperReports

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I see you have Malwarebytes' AntiMalware installed.

Please update it's definitions, and run a new Quick Scan.
Launch Malwarebytes' Antimalware
On the updates tab, click on Check for Updates
If an update is found, it will begin. Once the update is complete..
Click on the Scanner tab. Select Perform quick scan, then click Scan.
When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.
Be sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected.
When completed, a log will open in Notepad. Save it to your desktop. Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware may require a reboot to complete removals. After a reboot, if required, post that saved log in your next reply.

Also post new logs from DDS.

Hello and Welcome to Bleeping Computer!!My name is Gringo and I'll be glad to help you with your computer problems.I have put together somethings for you to keep in mind while I am helping you to make things go easier and faster for both of usPlease do not run any tools unless instructed to do so.

The music files are in My Music and appear in the Library and are playable from either of those. Can anyone tell me what I'm doing wrong? I feel sure it must be operator error since this is the first time I've attempted this. I have made other slideshows where music was added automatically from Samples that came preloaded.

Please ignore previous message. As I typed it I realized if it played from Samples and not from Library it must be because it was different formats and it was and that solved the problem. Now, does anyone know how to just play snippets of songs?

Running XP on infected PC. Followed the steps for removal of SMART HDD operating in safe mode with networking. Everything was fine until we tried to run the tdsskiller. It will not execute. We have downloaded it to the desktop, renamed it multiple times using both .exe and .com, downloaded the file onto another computer and loaded the files onto a jump drive. Then we tried to copy and paste those files into the infected computer but still the tdss file won't go. We tried skipping this step and downloading malwarebytes but that was terminated by the infection.

We read your steps involving the defogger software but it said to reboot and if we do that then we am back to where we started. All the steps until then have emphasized that we shouldn't reboot until the infection is cleaned.

Not sure how to send information about the computer in question because it acts as if everything is gone. We are unable to access our files and programs.

Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

Hello -
Did you attempt to remove the infection fully by yourself, or were you helped by any Malware Forum.
This infection can be VERY hard to totally remove, and this list of problems are not unusual for a computer that is still infected.
In several cases a full reinstall was required when people have attempted a D.I.Y removal.
Do you wish for the Malware Removal area to check if you still have an infected system, or take a chance that we can throw you a quick fix ? ?

From your list there are 10 items currently marked as Not Running, or still affected -

Thank You -

Every time I try to open Internet I get this Security Warning and pushes me into a purchase option on spyware I don't need. Already have symantic in place. How do I remove this? Tried Rebot several times... It continues to pop up every time. I cannot get out to any website.

Hello
I'm not sure how this nasty spyware made it onto my grandparents computer but I need help removing it...

At first it completely locked me out of the internet, corrupted SUPERantispyware, and also locked me out of malware bytes. My grandparents do not have any antivirus software installed on this computer which did not help matters much...

After rebooting in safemode I finally managed to operate malware bytes by running it through the command prompt... On reboot I thought I had it removed but sure enough it popped up again and started suggesting I buy their software.. yeah right... SO I began the whole cleaning process by trying to run SUPERantispyware but realized that the spyware was blocking me from updating it. I tried to manually update it and it also blocked me from updating it saying something like "I may be running the internet through a proxy and I can't connect." I also tried googling "XP smart security 2010 removal" and all the helpful links were blocked...

I decided to run through the normal cleaning procedure even without SAS updated. I ran through SAS and removed bad objects, ran through Malware bytes and removed bad objects, and also ran Combofix. I've done this about three times now to no avail and I'm starting to get frustrated... I will attach the log reports below and I really hope someone can help me before Friday as I have to leave here by then... Thanks ahead of time!!

A:Browser Slow After SMART HDD Removal

Adding some more information:

1. Browser hijacking is present, but not consistent. Some links from google and yahoo search engines are maliciously re-directed. But, not all the time.
2. Internet speed is fine, same as it's always been (via speedtest.net), yet my browsing is paralyzingly slow (3 - 4 minutes to load common pages with a fair set of images: for example mlb.com, cnn.com, weather.com).
3. Tried to run HitManPro for 64 bit (3.6.0 build 160), and it does find some rootkits but doesn't have the free trial license option available.

It seemed to go well enough with no hitches - however when we try to connect to the internet we can't. Hubby has checked all connections wifi etc and still can't get connected. Greetings all,

I have been working on and cleaning up infected PCs for over 15 years and this one is really stumping me! I have my sister's PC that has been hit with the Smart Security malware among many, many other problems. I had run MalwareBytes on it several times before, got it cleaned so that it was saying no more infections, then about a week or so later, I would get the call from her that it was infected again. I finally had to run Combofix on it and found that it had a rootkit that was cleaned, then scanned with MWB and cleaned.

Now here is my problem. Nothing is detecting any problems/malware, however Windows Security is recognizing that McAfee AV is installed and Smart Security, and is reporting that there are two Antivirus programs running. The PC does seem as though there is two AV programs running as it is SLOW as all heck, but when I disable McAfee the PC takes right off running like a champ.

Numerous scans with MWB both in normal and safe mode reveal nothing for problems. I am posting my HJT log below and perhaps someone might be able to pick out what is starting as I have been unsuccessful.

Thanks in advance for the assistance, this site is great!!!

Hello and Welcome to Bleeping Computer!!My name is Gringo and I'll be glad to help you with your computer problems. I have put together somethings for you to keep in mind while I am helping you to make things go easier and faster for both of usPlease do not run any tools unless instructed to do so.
We ask you to run different tools in a specific order to ensure the malware is completely removed from your machine, and running any additional tools may detect false positives, interfere with our tools, or cause unforeseen damage or system instability. Please do not attach logs or use code boxes, just copy and paste the text.
Due to the high volume of logs we receive it helps to receive everything in the same format, and code boxes make the logs very difficult to read. Also, attachments require us to download and open the reports when it is easier to just read the reports in your post. Please read every post completely before doing anything.
Pay special attention to the NOTE: lines, these entries identify an individual issue or important step in the cleanup process. Please provide feedback about your experience as we go.
A short statement describing how the computer is working helps us understand where to go next, for example: I am still getting redirected, the computer is running normally, etc. Please do not describe the computer as "the same", this requires the extra step of looking back at your previous post.NOTE:... I would get an eraser program like Revouninstaller regardless of your current issue. You will probably delete other progs during the life of the PC and it's good to get rid of the registry and file leftovers.
