Q: Dell monitor E177FPb - Could not connect with Satellite Receiver through HDMI to VGA converter

Dear All,

Tried the below steps as per advice from few sites. No luck.

Hope you understand my concern, expecting the solution.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

A: Dell monitor E177FPb - Could not connect with Satellite Receiver through HDMI to VGA converter

720P is 1280 x 720 75Hz your monitor does not support that. 1280 x 1024 60hz interlaced is max. This monitor is over 10 years old.

Hi Dell Community,
Please help me to diagnose what is wrong with my new laptop.
My Laptop is Dell Latitude E6440 but every time i connect external monitor to my laptop HDMI port via HDMI to VGA converter, the external monitor always blink randomly every couple of seconds. This HDMI to VGA converter is working fine when i used it to other laptop.
Currently i still don't have chance to try my laptop HDMI port to connect directly to HDMI monitor because i don't have it.
Are there anybody have the same problem with me? thanks for your help.

Hi M. Zemmy Indrapatih,
Thanks for your post.
Sorry you are having difficulties with your laptop and monitor.  If you could send me the name and model cable adapter you are using and the name and model of the monitor,  I might be better able to understand the issue.  Thanks

So eagerly i tought to buy this cool looking laptop for a huge $2000 i needed it to output to a hdmi monitor ot TV so sometimes i could see movies as well, now i had to buy the special DA200 dell adaptor and in the past 3 weeks it`s been a complete nightmare, i WAS NEVER ABLE to make it work permanently. The chat support was no help at all usually simply resuming to try and replace the part but i do think the part is good and i didn't feel like waiting 2 weeks for it to ship from china.

The ethernet and usb work on the DA200 adaptor , EXCEPT HDMI.  SOMETIMES it would work briefly until next restart, i had tried everything ever available on the internet. The laptop is running Windows 10 (as it`s restricted to that version, i tried to install other versions with lots of issues and compatibility issues) so  i have installed reinstalled and installed different versions of the video driver for all possible windowses and none worked. what did work was very brief until next restart and that usually happened when i had a fresh windows install, after the first restart i will get a non working hdmi again.

I have tried several hdmi cables so i know it`s not the hdmi cable or the tv ot the monitor. and nobody seems to be able to help!!

Oops I see my first post got sent, even if the website failed...
Anyay.. I talked to Dell Support and they told me to update the firmware for:
Intel (R) Thunderbolt 3 Firmware Update
(version 02.05.04,A00)
downloaded forn Dell.com/support
Enter your service tag and you will find it under Chipset on the driver download page.
That fixed it for me!
It was a known issue for the guy i talked to.

If I use either F4/the windows key + P and select duplicate or PC screen only (or any other option) and then plug it into the TV, both the laptop screen and the TV screen are blank. Pressing any key does not bring up anything on my laptop screen, then when I unplug the HDMI cable it comes up with the second screen only option highlighted. My laptop strangely ignores what I click and constantly reverts back to this option and alas, I cannot project the screen onto any monitor (I have tried 4 separate monitors).

My laptop previously was able to be plugged into a TV and I have done this numerous times but as far as I'm aware this stopped when I had a windows 8.1 update (my assumption, I'm not sure). I have searched the web for solutions and none have worked. I have tried the method of detecting the monitor via the screen resolution option on the desktop, but again this can't be done because I can't see anything on either screen when my laptop is plugged into any TV, and I have tried countless times.

Any help is appreciated

Thanks a lot

A:Satellite Pro C850-1K3 cannot connect to a TV via a HDMI cable

I use Toshiba notebooks few years now and what I can say is that you must connect your notebook to the TV at first, enable the right port on the TV and then use FN or F key to change between notebooks desktop and connected TV.
Connected TV or other external device must be detected at first.

Please test it one more time.

Hi, I can't seem to get anything higher than 1920x1080 in the list of available resolution options when I connect my Dell U2713HM monitor to my Dell Inspiron 15 laptop. I've run this monitor at 2560x1440 on another laptop over HDMI in the past but that was with Windows 8. The Intel HD Graphics 530 Control Panel doesn't offer any resolutions above 1920x1080 for the external monitor and adding custom resolutions results in the error "the custom resolution exceeds the maximum bandwidth capacity". I'm using the same high speed HDMI cable that worked at 2560x1440 with this monitor on my previous laptop. I'm fully up to date on all of the drivers for the laptop.
Does anyone have any suggestions? I'm not sure what else to try. Could this be a Windows 10 issue? Should I try the standard Intel HD Graphics 530 drivers from the Intel website?

I have been looking for verification that if I buy the Dell 24 Gaming Monitor – S2417DG and attach it to my Inspiron 15 Gaming 7567 HDMI that I will get full 2560x1440 resolution refresh rate 165 Hz with 1ms response as the Monitor specs are listed.
I can find no information that the HDMI will pass this level of output.
I have talked to Dell tech support and they do say that the HDMI port is connected directly to the  NVIDIA  GeForce GTX 1050T i with 4GB GDDR5 but I also have seen information that HDMI will not support this.
So I am looking for verification on this configuration being compatible/able to output the full capabilities of the video card to the monitor via the on board HDMI output?

A:Inspiron 15 Gaming 7567 HDMI Specs/Does HDMI out support full bandwidth for G-SYNC Dell Gaming Monitor – S2417DG

First of all, G-Sync as far as I know requires DisplayPort and will not run on HDMI.  Even if it does, I don't think even HDMI 2.0 has enough bandwidth for 1440p @ 165 Hz.  And even if it does though, all of the Dell systems I've seen have only had HDMI 1.4, which is only enough for 1440p @ 60 Hz.  But even if all of that isn't a problem, does the Inspiron 7567 have ONLY a GeForce GPU, or does it have an Intel GPU plus a GeForce GPU?  If it's the latter, G-Sync will definitely not work because in almost all systems that have both GPUs, only the Intel GPU is directly wired to the display outputs.  If your system has ONLY the GeForce GPU, then G-Sync should work in theory, but again you may have the bandwidth problems I mentioned above.

I am plugging a HDMI cable into the HDMI port on a Dell E5440 laptop and the other end of the cable, which is Display Port, into a Dell P1914S monitor.
Nothing shows on the external monitor no matter what I do or try on either the laptop or monitor?  I have tried this on a Dell E7000 series laptop also with no result on that one either?
Does the HDMI port on Dell laptops support video or do I need to utilise some other means of connecting a second monitor.  Bear in mind there is no VGA output on these laptops.
Thanks in advance

A:Dell Laptop HDMI to Dell Monitor DisplayPort?

Display port is NOT bidirectional. You can go from DISPLAY PORT OUT to HDMI IN but you CANNOT GO HDMI OUT to DIsplay port in.
I would suggest an HDMI to VGA adapter.

Hello everybody,

I just bought a "half" of an U920T: a laptop without the display(which was literally ripped off, you could see the bent hinges and what is left of the cable).
It's a great piece of hardware and I can use it with an external monitor, thanks to the HDMI connection.

What is the problem?
I only get video signal on the HDMI display, when windows(10) is loaded.

What do I want?
I would very much like to access the bios settings and set the primary output to HDMI, if possible.

I have already tried:
- removed the display cable from the mainboard
- using the F4 and the Fn+F4 to switch between displays. (it only works in windows)
- using the Toshiba System Settings Windows App. (there is no "video output" setting there)

Would any of you who have a similar model be so kind as to:
1. Check their bios to see if the option is available?
2. Upload a picture with the location of this setting in bios, or even better a video?

Thank you!!

Hello. I use Windows Vista on a nearly 6 year old Acer Aspire 5930.

My old monitor stopped working, so I borrowed one from a friend. That will connect through VGA(my old cable), but for some reason everything got a greenish look, impossible to use for anything besides reading.

So I also borrowed his HDMI-cable. I connect them both, it makes the sound indicating it's connected, but nothing happens. If I have both VGA/HDMI at the same time the VGA works. If I remove VGA it won't work. I've tried numerous different combinations of this.

I've tried the Fn+F5 thing. Only works with the VGA.

Tried rebooting it, both with VGA and HDMI connected. Same result.

I'm fairly certain I've connected this pc to a tv 2 years ago, but then the sound didn't work, but the visual was working fine.

I've cracked the screen on the laptop. Everything I've been trying I've done with VGA connected.

The video driver is up to date.

The monitor is definitely working on a different pc. The VGA is probably working. My old monitor died due to power failure(It just turned off and won't come back on) so there's no reason to believe the VGA-cable isn't broken either.

A:Won't connect laptop to monitor with HDMI

This is one old box and I'd suggest that the integrated video chip is nearly dead or at least the HDMI aspect of it is.

Hi all,

I'm a bit desperate so I came here hoping to find some answers.

So I wanted to connect a second monitor (which is a TV screen) to my PC to watch movies, but suddenly my PC wont send any signal to my TV, so I tried connecting all kinds of HDMI cables to all kind of TVs/monitors laying around in the house, and my conclusion is that whenever I tried to connect a second monitor with HDMI directly to my PC it wont show anything and it also doesn't show up in my Display settings on my PC. So from what I can tell the problem lays with the PC itself (within windows probably).

I have up to date display drivers so that is not the problem.

Also something worth mentioning is that my main PC monitor is connected with DVI, and the DVI connector works just fine on every device.

Hope someone can help me find an answer soon!

Hey, I'm going to be headed off to college soon, and I'm switching from my old desktop to a new Razer Blade 2014, I am planning on still bringing my 2nd monitor to college and want to use it in my dorm room, My Monitor does not have a HDMI, but that is the only port on my Laptop. I thought this would be simple, because I was already running a HDMI to DVI-D on my desktop to my GTX 770 graphics card. While connected to my desktop, the monitor works normally. When I plug it into my laptop, I get nothing in response, The laptop will not detect the Monitor in screen resolution or in control panel. My monitor is a LG Flatron and my laptop is the Razer Blade 2014. I don't understand why it doesn't just plug and play like it did on my PC. Any help? Also, I am on windows 10 but the problem happened on Windows 8.1 aswell

A:Laptop will not connect to second monitor via HDMI

Has it ever worked? You may want to test using a different monitor and a true HDMI to HDMI cable, just to verify the laptop port functions properly.

Hey guys, I just redesigned my room and a monitor (1080p, 60hz) has moved. I could buy a 25ft HDMI cable and have a cable nightmare, or the more optimal situation of having the monitor attached to the wall with the only cable being it's power/wireless dongle.

Keep in my I have a good home theater/gaming system with nice speakers and I really need to use the speakers, not the ones that come with the monitor (really poor quality)

So.. the first thing I thought of was Chromecast. I ran into the problem of only having ethernet (no wireless) on my desktop. I will buy a card tomorrow/monday to enable wifi on my desktop. Until then, I tried using my phone with Chromecast. Works very well, however it's using the monitors horrid speakers. How would I get around this? Would the Chromecast not be adequate? Thanks for the help.

Am using Windows 10, Chromecast non ultra, 1080p 60hz HDMI monitor.

Hello all,

I have a quick question. My new graphics card has a HDMI port and I was wondering if there is any advantage of using that port to connect my graphics card to my monitor over the normal DVI port? Is it worth buying the cable that I would need to do this>

A:Use HDMI or DVI to connect monitor to computer.

The only difference is HDMI carries audio and video and DVI carries Video only.

I have a Yoga 11s that started having hdmi connection issues about a year ago and has recently quit connecting to an external monitor via HDMI completely. We tried upgrading to Windows 10 to see if that would overwrite any software issues - no luck. The HDMI port actually appears loose. I did an extensive search of the forum and found posts that recommended cutting down the rubber around the base of the hdmi cord - tried that and at least I had a little activitiy - in the upper right hand corner of the external monitor up popped a box that says DVI then VGA then HDMI - but then says No Signal. Tried the graphics card update recommended on a post from long time ago and a popup indicated I had a newer version already installed. I have taken it to a laptop repair place - said they couldn't get parts from Lenovo. I found an "authorized" Lenovo repair shop locally - when I called they said they only work on business machines Called Lenovo and they told me to take it to Best Buy - however since I purchased this directly from Lenovo, Best Buy said they can't work on it. I would rather not send it into Lenovo because they tried to charge my hubby hundreds of dollars when his 15 day brand new laptop quit working, claiming damage - luckily extensive pictures taken and dated prior to sending it in thwarted that attempt at extortion. Does anyone have any suggestions? This concerns an HP late-model notebook, Win7 Home Prem x64, used as a desktop with HDMI-connected 1080p 21", plus usb mouse/kbd. The goal is to make this as simple as possible: desktop-like. Just turn it on and work.
It seems that either/both coming out of sleep state or simple shutdown and startup the Monitor stays offline because, I suppose, its getting no signal from the notebook. I tried to duplicate this on a dell notebook in my 'lab' but I only have a vga connect to work with - it just works. in fact I have trouble with the usb port but not with the monitor persisting.

is there a chance there is some interplay between vendor/maker-specific implentations, plus perhaps the embedded Intel HD video controller?

A:How to make HDMI-connect Ext Monitor persist?

this could be an external device problem, somehow messing up allocation of resources @ boot. my brother has a new i7 super machine, hooked up with a monitor(dvi) and an hdmi bigsceen hooked up as well.
no problems. then he hooked up a firewire card-hooked up to an external mixer, something like that. he had identical/very similar issues. when we troubleshot, i first said eliminate any possibilities no matter how remote.

long story short.

when the external device is powered up his main monitor did not work when coming out of hibernate mode. with it off(not the card just the devise) all is well.

from what i could assertain, didn't sound like your problem. i know this sort of deal does not usually occur with printers and scanners. but it is somewhere to start(or end if nothing else is hooked up in such a fasion).

good luck dude

Hi, I recently figured out that I can plug my Xbox 360 Video and Audio Cables into my computer. Bit confused here. Why are you plugging it into the computer? Can you not just plug it into the monitor? Most have several ports, think one of them should work for you- lots have a HDMI input, that may be your solution.

I tried connecting it to my old ASUS VH192D monitor using a HDMI to VGA converter (the laptop doesn't have VGA port and the monitor doesn't have a HDMI port).  When I first connected the monitor to my laptop both the laptop and the monitor adapted to their native resolutions and were working fine. I tried to change the ASUS monitor's resolution to 1080 (native resolution 1366x768) which threw me an error saying OUT OF RANGE.  I then changed the resolution back to its dafault value but the error message was still being displayed. I hard reset the monitor and also tried a software reset. Both were unsuccessful.  On doing some research, I found that there could be numerous causes to my problem. I checked all the possibilities but I still can't find a solution. The first thing I checked was the cable and the adapter. I plugged the cable, adapter and monitor to all my other computers and it seemed to work fine. I then checked if all my drivers were up to date. I updated my display drivers individually (though they were already up to date) and also restarted my computer numerous times. As I was trying to solve my issue I noticed that my laptop no longer recognised the second monitor. When I checked the advanced display settings the second monitor was not detected but when I selected duplicate screens from the options, my laptop resolution automatically adapted to the second monitor's ... A:Unable to connect second monitor using HDMI to VGA adapter

@blueinstein93 Firstly number of dots is a number of dots, you CAN'T push to higher resolution (or more dots). Now, please restore your machine back to the point BEFORE the change and try again (no more dots).     https://support.microsoft.com/en-au/help/12415/windows-10-recovery-options Regards.

I have an i5-based DG67BL intel motherboard computer that has a DVI and HDMI ports with one DVI monitor connected to the DVI port.

I added an GeFORCE 210 graphics card to it that has a VGA and a DVI ports and connected additional two monitors to it.

So far computer is working fine with three monitors configured in windows as extended desktop.

This motherboard has just one PCIeX16 slot. It has 2 PCIeX1 and a PCI slot that are vacant.

I need to connect yet another DVI monitor. I took a HDMI<->DVI cable, connected it to the onboard HDMI port. the monitor was not detected.

I tried various combinations of monitors and bios settings in vain. Under no circumstances the HDMI port drove the DVI monitor.

The cable is working fine elsewhere.

What did I do wrong ? Is there something I need to buy/replace for this to work ?

Thanks !

A:How to connect additional DVI monitor to HDMI port

you 'need' to connect a 4th monitor? I recommend getting graphics card(s) to support your endeaver, but up to you.

Why don't you get a dvi to vga or maybe its a vga to dvi cord and connect the dvi monitor to the graphics card vga port?

Does it have to go into the HDMI port? HDMI carries sound as well as the video signal, dvi only carries video, and vga carries a lesser quality video

It was my understanding that the HDMI connecting cable carried both video and audio. I have purchased a Dell XPS Laptop that has the HEMI connector.

Connected it to my Sony Bravia 42" TV and the Windows Desktop was truly amazing to see. My problem is that the only audio I am getting is from the speaker in the Dell Laptop.

I was surprised that there was no sound (along with the video)!!!

Does it make sense to buy a mini plug for stereo to come out of the Dell Laptop and that split to a right and left channel to run through my sound sytem.

I think this might work but why am I not getting sound through the HEMI connection?

If anyone has dealt with this, I would sure appreciate any ideas.

A:HDMI Connect to a Sony Bravia 42" using Dell XPS

You?re going to want to get into your audio settings and make sure your HDMI is set to send sound to your device.

If you are running Vista, right-click your speaker icon in the taskbar and select ?Playback devices? from the menu. From there, a window will open and should list your audio devices. Highlight ?Digital Output Device (HDMI)? in the list and hit the ?set as default? button. Also, right-click and make sure the device is enabled.
