Converting a sound file

Q: Converting a sound file

Hiya!! Bet you've been glad to not hear from me for awhile. Guess this means you taught me well!! I used to have a .wav file on my site, but lost it during some down time. The only way that I can retrieve it now is through Real Player, but I can only use .wav or .mid for sound at my host. Is there a way to convert this file? Thanks in advance!!

Preferred Solution: Converting a sound file

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

A: Converting a sound file

There is a program out there that will convert Real Audio to wave files. It think it is called Ra2Wav, but I might be mistaken. Check the real audio site for it, or search for it at http://www.hotfiles.com

You can also use Sound Recorder to record the R.A. file while it is playing. If you have an SB Live card you can use Wave Studio.

Daemon Tools Lite should be able to mount NRG files. Make sure you are using the latest version:
http://www.filehippo.com/download_daemon_tools/
Daemon Tools Official Website:
http://www.daemon-tools.cc/ENG/home

You might also want to try these other virtual drive, image mounting software (both freeware):

Can Windows 98SE .clp files be converted to Word2000 .doc format?
Have a 6K .clp file which I can't open, Can .clp files be converted to Word2000 format? If not, what can I read it with?

A:Converting a .clp file to a Word 2000 .doc file?

Well, it appears that it could be one of the following file types:

You searched for file extension: .clp

Clipart GraphicProgram: QUATTRO PRO
Clipboard fileProgram: MS WINDOWS
Compiler Script (Clip List)Program: CLIPPER 5

So that depends.

You can always try, from Word, File-Open. Change the files of type to "recover text from any file" and try opening the file.

Don't forget to change the file types back to Word docs after you've used that file type or you'll forget and be in trouble next time you open a file.

I am trying to digitalise some VHS tapes and although the picture transfers well, there is no sound. The problem is not in the VCR as this works perfectly when connected to a TV set. I feed the signal from the VCR to the PC using a Scart to 3x RCA cable at the VCR end and a purple breakout cable, supplied with an ATI All-in-Wonder Radeon 9200 , connected to the graphics card VidIn socket. The VidOut socket of this card is linked to a Creative SB Audigy card LineIn socket using another supplied ATI cable. The output is viewed onscreen using Ulead VideoStudio v.11. The pictures appear perfectly and can be recorded for further editing but there is no accompanying sound despite the fact that the Ulead thumbnail in the edit line shows a small white loudspeaker, If the audio is split out, the line is smooth without oscillations. I have tried a direct connection between the audio out sockets of the VCR and the breakout cable in case there was a fault in the Scart cable but without success.I have also tried taking a line direct from the VCR audio output to the sound card LineIn socket and still didn't get any sound from my speakers or see any audio via Ulead
The PC sound system works satisfactorily in all other respects. Am I missing something somewhere, for example a software setting ?

The best way to capture analogue video under any operating system is with a firewire analogue video adapter such as Canopus ADVC 110. This supposedly gives much better picture quality than most of the PCI capture cards but these adapters are still quite expensive at the time of writing. If you plan to do a lot of analogue video capture then it may well be worth the extra cost. Under linux you could then just use dvgrab to capture from one of these but I'm not covering that method here.

The first step, of course, is to connect your VCR to your PC. Most TV capture cards have three types of video input: s-video, composite (the yellow one) and TV aerial. s-video gives the best quality of the three so use that if you can. I have an Avermedia TV Capture 98 PCI capture card which is based on the bt878 chipset. The picture I get with this card is quite grainy and I hear that the saa713x chipset capture cards are supposed to be much better- see the v4l2 wiki link above for card recommendations and compatibility. Another thing about this card is that I couldn't get it to find my VCR signal through the aerial connector and so I had to use a SCART to composite cable.

After plugging your VCR into your PC (including running an auxiliary cable from your VCRs sound outputs to your PCs mic in) insert a VHS tape, push play and start tvtime to check you are getting a picture and sound. If you are trying to get a picture through an aerial cable then you will probably have to scan t... Read more

These are the instructions handed to me:

1. Download VCF-to-23andMe. The two scripts in this directory require Python 3.

2. First, run the data_to_db.py script using your VCF file as input. This generates the genome.db file:

> python3 data_to_db.py input.vcf.gz vcf genome.db

3. Then run db_to_23.py script using the genome.db file as input. This produces a file in the 23andMe format:

> python3 db_to_23.py genome.db blank_v3.txt 23andMe.txt

So, I go on command prompt and tried copy pasting the 1st command and I got a genome.db file but when I copy paste the 2nd command line (the one involving db_to_23.py) nothing happens. Youre supposed to start off with a vcf file and 2 python scripts to convert it. Im not sure how to do this.

All I have are a VCF file and 2 python scripts. If someone could describe the process from a fresh start to how I would convert it to 23andMe then that would be helpful.

Just a technical maneuvering issue.

What format will give me the best quality dvd video when converting an .avi file?

A:converting .avi file

For video to play on most standalone DVD players it has to be converted to mpeg2 and authored, specs are here: http://www.videohelp.com/dvd The exception to this is that some DVD players will play Divx encoded discs or mpeg's burned as data discs. That really depends on the player.

Final quality depends on many things like your source, the process you use, the encoder.... Lot's of variables. There is no best method, you have to take into account what you have and where you're going with it.

Hello Techguy Forum,

I am hoping someone here can help me. Here is my situation.

My Chinese wife has a neat little audio device that she was given that lets her listen to Chinese preaching in her own language. The device has literally hundreds if not thousands of files on an SD card. I opened it up and tried to extract the files hoping that they were in .mp3 format hoping she could put these audio files in her own mp3 player as the device has a horrible interface and no way of knowing what file is being played besides going one-by-one.

But the files ended up being .jrc. I've never heard of this kind of file and have searched and searched but have found very little on this and nothing about .jrc as an audio file.

Is there anyone who knows anything about this or how to go about converting such a file into an mp3?

==> I tried to upload one of the files that I copied of the SD card to practice on but I got an 'upload error'. It may be too big of a file.

Any suggestions?

Thank you so much.

Hi,
I have an iso which I would like to convert for DVD Players format. After running a web search, I found that dvdSanta can do the job. Still, dvdSanta accepts input exclusively from a CD/DVD drive. Since my file is residing on my HD, and I don't like the idea of a two-step DVD media burning, one from my HD to a DVD disk, two from this DVD disk in ISO format to DVD format via dvdSanta, I hoped to find a way to set a virtual DVD drive, copy the ISO file to it, input it to dvdSanta, and output it to a DVD media.
I tried Paragon CD-ROM Emulator, but failed either in copying the file to this virtual disk or in finding a way for inputting the file from the virtual disk to dvdSanta.
Can you suggest a way of converting a DVD ISO file to a DVD format to be burned on a DVD media?

Okay, so I want to rip a DVD onto my computer, and then convert it into MPEG-4, so I can put it on my PSP. I want to do this without spending any money on programs.

I'm new to DVD ripping, so I really don't know what to do here.

I have DVD Shrink 3.2, and I can rip the DVD onto my computer, either as a single .ISO file, or as several files, including .VOBs and . IFOs.

The problem is that I can't find a program that will convert the .ISO file, or the .IFO files. No program I have tried reconizes these file types.

So really what I need is one of two things. Either a DVD ripping program that will rip the DVD to my computer directly into a .AVI, etc. (anything that converters will reconize), or a converting program that will reconize .ISOs, .IFOs, etc.

I would appreicate any help.
