Yoga 520 Turning Off When Battery 100%

Q: Yoga 520 Turning Off When Battery 100%

Hello, for no reason my Yoga 520 (About a year old) has started shutting down when its on battery within 5 minutes of using it. The battery is always at 100% even when i reboot it and i've never had issues with the battery draining. It isn't just going to sleep either, its totally shutting down with no warnings. I have checked the battery by opening the back and everything looks in place and i have tried going through all the settings to see if its something in there but there isn't- i'd assume if it was shutting down due to power saving it would simply go to sleep not shut the whole system down. Can someone give me some insight into what might be happening? Thanks,

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hi, strage things are happening with my Yoga 370 Type 20JH with win10 x64 pro build 1809. If I want to turn on the yoga, I must fist plug in the power cable. After doing that I can turn it on by pressing the power button. After that I can unplug it and for a few hours I can turn it on, without the cable. Then the problem comes back and the yoga plays dead, when pressing the power button without attached cable. Battery is fully chareged and lasts 6-7hours while working with the yoga, so thats not the problem. Seems like the battery is falling in a kind of sleep mode, where it only wakes up, when getting new power. So wherever I go, I need to have my loadingcable with me, because it can happen, that I cant turn my yoga on - thats frustrating. Problem started, without any changes made to the yoga, a few month ago. Its now close to 2years old.Powerbutton isnt responding, no matter if I press ist for a moment, 5 oder 30 sec. Anyone any Idea what I can do?

So three weeks ago, I was working on my Yoga 3 14" and popped to get a drink, I came back and the screen was blank, I assumed it had gone to sleep, so hit a key to wake it up. Nothing! The laptop was plugged in, so I know it hadn't run out of charge. After sheer panic, I contacted Lenovo, who told me that my warranty was out by a month, and that I could send it to them to diagnose, and they would tell me how much to fix, then it was up to me if they did or not.One I wouldn't be happy about not having my laptop for a couple of weeks minimum, but also it had all my private information on.I turned to good old google, and stumbled across this forum, and somebody with the same problem.Their solution was to unscrew the back case of the laptop (as mentioned above, my warranty was already out), remove the battery cable, hold down the power button for 30 seconds and reconnect the battery cable.I did this, and low and behold it worked. Fantastic!Only for it to happen twice more that week, and approx twice a week since. Then yesterday my brother contacts me saying his laptop has died, just won't turn on. His is the Yoga 2 Pro, I told him to bring it to mine, and I would try what I had to do to mine, to his, low and behold, the same solution worked. Seeing as I wasn't the first person to have this issue, and I'm guessing others have used the solution but not commented, this is obviously a fault with the Yoga range. I'm hoping that Lenovo can address this issue, as I fe... The battery status toggles between not charging, not used, and unauthorized battery after it was calibrated using one key. Before that, the battery was working perfectly, lasting close to 5 hours. Now the laptop shuts off when unplugged and the battery status is constantly changing. I've had this laptop for approximately a year now and it was unused and left in an unopened box for the first 8 months.

Hello brain trust. - I purchased a Yoga c930 for my daughter to use at college and I noticed that after shutting down (using windoes shut down, not sleep mode), the battery will deplete down to around 25% after sitting totally off for just 4 days. I've tested this a couple of times and it's consistent. In addition, it will then fully charge after around 45 minutes on the charger, even though the charge icon in the systray says it will take around double that time I've not used it enough to check the battery life in use, but since my Dell laptop will fire up after going weeks and weeks without a charge, there seems to be something wrong with this machine if it's depleting the battery like that while totally shut down. Any suggestions on what to check or how to diagnose why this is happening?  Thanks in advance

I'm having problems with my 910 yoga. He's been carrying it for more than two days and it's only 44%. Unlike the other posts, where yoga is connected and does not carry my charges very slowly. Also when I remove the power cable the battery drains very fast.
1) I already updated the BIOS
2) I already unplugged and reinstalled the battery drives
I do not know what else to do.

I always used to be an HP customer and thought would give it a go with Lenovo so I got myself a Yoga 910. I am out of warranty, called support and have been quoted $1500 AUD for  anew motherboard which is not even on stock and no one in their right mind would give that sort of money for such a piece of garbage. The symptoms:It started a random day out of the blue. When the battery was around 30% I plugged in the charger and the laptop started acting as if I was periodically at every second unplugging and replugging the DC adapter meanwhile the charging led was blinking at the same frequency every second. I heard the plug in sound and the screen became brighter every 2 seconds. Unfortunately even when the laptop was turned off itwasn't charging the battery at all so after experimenting with all possible solutions with uninstalling and deactivating charging drivers which didn't work my battery was fully drained and now my premium looking laptop is pretty much good to be thrown out. I know it has nothing to do with sleep mode and all or other software related settings. It's not a charger issue because I tried another charger and another power socket as well. It's not a contact issue with the charging port because it's following the same pattern no matter how I hold or don't hold the plug to the charging port. I could  get the laptop to work only through the battery connectors. When the battery is removed then it's just completely dead. The charging led w... Read more

I am a Yoga 700-14ISK user for 2 years. And I had encounter serveral issues with this laptop before (and the service center helped me to fix them) However, now there is an issue I just have now - my battery is draining fast like 1% lost per 2-3 min for light usage (browsing on Chrome or doing my schoolwork either on Microsoft Office or Google Drive) I suspected it was due to my battery wear level. However, as I monitored it, I realised it keep fluctuating (from 19.64% to 42.02%) until I re-calibrate which gives me 38.51% and then 38.71% after a charge to 60%. Is it possible the battery wear level can cause the quick drain in battery?  Is this battery wear level normal? I would also like to point out that I had the battery changed over a year ago and I normally used my laptop for schoolwork and gaming (occasionally now after realising the issue.) I am also going to have an internship (at least 6 months) from July so I am very worried that my laptop can't last long especially its battery. Hence, should I go to a Lenovo service center and request for a battery replacement? Please give me any possible reasons on why the laptop battery starts to drain fast and its battery wear level sharp increase, and also possible solutions for these issues. I would like to know more about it in order to sustain my laptop at least for a year.

I am struggling with this for a while now. In Hungary we basically have no Lenovo support. My Yoga 2 is considered old but still a very-very good laptop. The Energy Manager complains that the battery is old and I can see it in its performance as well unfortunately. I tried several sellers on Ebay but I keep getting some crappy quality, usually old, refurbished like (but it does not work at all) batteries. I want a real ORIGINAL Lenovo battery that is BRAND NEW (not manufactured in 2014), that is a real stuff, not just a sticker on the outside, crap in the inside. Could you please help me?

Does that mean even they will get the latest cpu (which some said there is not much different), they will have shorter battery life than the current Yoga C930 which has 60W battery? https://www.ultrabookreview.com/24380-2019-lenovo-thinkpads/https://www.ultrabookreview.com/24458-lenovo-yoga-c930-review/

I've recently (13th of April) bought new Yoga 530-14IKB. It has adequate CPU i3-8130U, which is faster than i5-6200U in my sister's Acer laptop, but I anyway don't play any games. Despite that, its battery life isn't good. It works about 3-3,5 hours in Chrome. In task manager I've noticed that Yoga Mode Control is constantly using 15-30% CPU and its battery usage is described as very high. After disabling it, I can't switch to the tablet mode and keyboard and touchpad don't turn off. Is there somebody who has Yoga laptop and experience similar problem?

Hi everyone! Is it ppossible to buy NEW battery form my Lenovo Yoga 2 Pro 13 Notebook? It uses the L12M4P21. I looked at many places but all the batteries are made in 2003 or 2004. As I know they loose their performance if they sit on the shelf for many years... Is it possible to find really newly made original Lenovo battery for my laptop?

A:I have a Lenovo Yoga 2 Pro 13, I need a new battery... but NEW, not battery that was made in 2004!

Hi Moksa,

Welcome to the Community Forums.

It may be hard to say as because of the age of the model but you can try calling in EMEA parts sales desk for your region (Hungary 30 722-37-91). On the battery sticker is also the battery manufacturer which you can try but I am not as optimistic for newer manufactured battery.

I would say that as long as they provide the standard battery one year warranty, then it would be a good option to go.

I hope this helps answer your query.

I have brand new lenovo Yoga 15. From the first start up I am getting this error message: Battery Not Detected I don't know what is going on but this is a new machine right? Anyway, the laptop is connected 24/7 to AC, yesterday I needed to unplug it and after 5 minutes the system turned off. After turning it on I got this error screened: Critical low-battery error The thing is after I turned it on for the second time everything was great. The battery said that it's 100% charged. But after another 5 minutes or something the battery turned off again - WTH? Does the laptop's battery is broken and I need to give it for the guarantee?

Hi TomHG Which is the full model number of your machine? What I would try to do first is try to update the BIOS of your computer and the power related drivers just in case. But the message that is showing the problem on the BIOS (before Windows boot) it is not nice. I would try tp update the drivers with the following tools- Windows Update- Lenovo System Update- Install Lenovo Settings and Lenovo Companion.- Check on Lenovo Support site the driver for your model. If after updating the BIOS and power drivers of your computer the problem remains there, I will recommend to contact the Lenovo Support Center. If you are still under warranty Lenovo should fix it by replacing any part. Regards

My Yoga 3 pro is still a nightmare and so far is unusable given onging battery problems. However I digress. The thing wouldn't charge past 72% and took 2 days to get to that from 51%. So yet again I searched the net hoping to find something new and I noted yet another updated battery guage realeased only a few days ago. I also noted that someone had suggested deleting the windows battery drivers in Device Manager after disconnecting the battery which I figured couldn't hurt so went ahead. Once I reconnected the battery, plugged it in and waited for it to download the battery drivers, I noted it didn't install the ACPI component. Now lo and behold, I have no battery guage at all. In fact it says "The battery is not used", but of course it is. I then tried the latest battery guage driver but no improvement. Can anyone help in this age old problem? Cheers

My Yoga had a change of battery in warrenty time (after 3 years) due to a defect on the mainboard. After installation of the new battery, it took quite a certain time, till the battery was found and recharged. After recalibration I tested the new battery with the Lenovo Vantage tool, and it showed a quite good looking capactiy of the cell but a manufacturing date older than the Yoga (more than 3 years). While using the computer it seems as if the battery is worse than my 3 years old former battery. This one was able to last for 5 to 6 hours in normal use. The new one is more like 2 to 3 hours. Is it possible, that the battery was deep-discharged and the Lenovo Vantage tool did not get the right capacity? Is it normal, that a 3 year old battery is installed for a warranty battery replacement? Thanks for help! mark

When I click on it the message "The battery is not used" appears.  OneKey Optimizer says: "No battery is present". Please see two images attached. Got the laptop and the battery inspected by a professional but he couldn't fix the problem. He himself updated the Bios, Windows, cleaned the inside and the fan of the computer but the problem is still there. Please provide me with a solution ASAP.

Hello, I've had this laptop for a bit less than a year, so I believe the warranty is valid, but I'd like to know if there's anything I can do myself. I was using it plugged in although it had a full battery. I have an Anker power bank that was nearly out of battery, on which I was charging my phone. I thought it supported pass through charging but apparently it didn't, so my mistake. Upon connecting the bank (and the phone) to my laptop, the laptop immediately shut off and I could tell the lights in the room flashed very quickly. Since then (at writing this less than one day ago), the laptop will not power on. When connected to the wall the small charging light turns on and is white. The power button lights up for a couple of seconds before turning off again when pressed. Fans do not start, display does not turn on nor do the keyboard lights. I figured it may have overheated at first, but the bottom was not hot to the touch. There were no signs of smoke or smells indicating a bad electrical problem. I've tried pretty much just holding the power button for different amounts of time (10sec, 30sec, 1min) and nothing happens. I believe I've done something to the battery but I'd like to know what. Thank you.

Hello, I have had this Y40-80 for about 9 months and it has recently been acting oddly. The laptop will randomly turn off. I figured that this was a sign I had to calibrate the battery but after I had calibrated the battery, the battery meter percentage stayed at 100% for a good 2 hours until it starts decreasing.  Now, I had tried to recalibrate the battery for about 5 times using the howtogeek, OneKey, and discharging from the BIOS. I did a fresh install of Windows to get rid of all the Lenovo software that might have been causing the problem but that has done nothing. I have also uninstalled the Windows ACPI and Lenovo ACPI which does not fix anything.  This issue is making the laptop underclock the processor to about .48 Ghz which makes the computer practically unusable.  Does anyone have an idea on how to fix this or is the battery dead?

Verify that the AC adapter is working - the LED on the power plug should be ON before you plug in the notebook end.  If it's not, the adapter is bad.
If the adapter is OK, unplug the system, disconnect the battery and hold the power button for 30 sec.  Try powering up on AC only (no battery). If it will, but won't with the battery connected, the battery is bad.
If it still won't power up thereafter, the mainboard is bad -- you'll need to contact Dell US for warranty repair.

It is normal and expected not to turn on when not plugged in.  Try unplugging and reinserting the A/C.  If that doesn't work, try gently pushing a straightened paper clip into the emergency reset hole (on the back, next to the fan vents).

Hello,I'm having trouble since I recieved my LENOVO ThinkPad Yoga 14 two months ago.It is on guarantee.I've noticed that the master fan keeps starting even if the computer is not working at full capacity. Sometimes, it starts right after windows as finished booting! And it's a brand new computer, Intel i7 CPU and 8GO of RAM!The fan keeps working then even if I'm only surfing on the internet or working on word. It's REALLY annoying. I feel like this is already an old computer by it's blowing. My old computer, a 5 years old Toshiba Satellite, doesn't blow so much.I've searched over the web and found that LENOVO had released a new UEFI Bios that was suposed to fix this problem. I've installed it and nothing changed! The fan kept on turning on for nothing else than a gmail home page.I've already asked about another problem on the ThinkPad Yoga 14. It's about a background noise on the built in speakers. Here's the link: https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/ThinkPad-S-Series-ThinkPad-Yoga/Background-noise-on-ThinkPad-Yoga-14-bu...I'm not having a good experience with this Yoga 14. I was looking for professional quality and it is not.Can someone tell me if they have the same problems? What LENOVO is going to do about it?Thanks.Ludovic.

A:ThinkPad Yoga 14 - The Fan keeps on turning on eve...

Hi ludovicfd Can you please post the full model number of you machine and which Windows version are you using?. For example my TP Yoga 14 is "20DM008UUS" and I didn't experienced those issues.  I'm guessing that your machine fan is blowing too much and making huge noise. In my case I can feel more the hard drive noise than the fan, it is not like the HDD is "that loud", but when you are on a quiet enviroment you can feel it "scrattching". Do you want to try first updating any firmware / BIOS on your machine at the latest level ? After that another alternative will be to try to update the driver for the chipset and power. The basic thing for me is to try to update the drivers and firmware this way:- Windows Update- Lenovo System Update- Lenovo Companionand after that search manually for updates on the Lenovo Support site with your specific model number. Sorry, it is trial and error to see if a driver can fix your issue. If after updating the drivers, you think it is hardware issue you should try to contact Lenovo's Customer Support site Regards

The laptop is still able to charge but I  have also disconnected the charger when I have attempted to power it on. Still does not work.  There has been a few issues with it in the past such as the laptop restarting when I take it off my table or move it slightly.  The laptop is approximately 18 months old.  Any help will be appreciated.

Hello, I bought my Yoga 900 around september-october last year and it was working great for me without any problems.  However, I came home from work the other day and it would not turn on. I plugged in the AC adapter to charge it and still there was no response. The battery indicator light is not showing any signs of life either. There has been no damage to it, and I had been using it the night before to watch a movie with no problems.  My issue is that I bought it in Canada but I am now living in China, and I'm not sure which steps should be taken to resolve this issue. Im not sure if there is email support or a phone number I can contact, but scouring through the various support pages has been useless. Anyways, any help would be greatly appreciated
