I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

After various problems (which all started with a sound card!) I decided to uninstall and then reinstall Windows Live Suite, but this time with the exception of Live Messenger, which I find both intrusive and a pain! Anyway, I uninstalled it, or so I thought, but when I went to reinstall, it told me that the programs were already on my machine. Since then, I've removed absolutely everything to do with Windows Live that I could find, including some files that I really wanted to keep, but still the same message!

System Restore wouldn't work, and I've tried restoring all my files from my back-up discs, but no joy. I'd really like to get Windows Live back, especially WLM, so can anyone offer any suggestions or assistance?

Version 4.18
Released on 28 May 2015.
A security hole with the Windows print spooler has been plugged. An application could use the print spooler to write an arbitrary file outside the sandbox. If Sandboxie detects that the print spooler is attempting to write a file outside the sandbox at the request of a sandboxed application, it will issue "SBIE1319 Blocked spooler print to file".
NOTE: Some printer drivers write temporary files to their own work area, even when not printing to file. In these cases, you will get SBIE1319 even when printing normally (not to file). The print may still print successfully. In this situation, you can safely ignore SBIE1319, hide the error message, or open the folder as described below.

There are 3 ways to allow the print spooler to print to file:

1) If you trust the process that is printing, you can double-click the SBIE1320 (that follows SBIE1319) to allow the print spooler to write files outside the sandbox for that particular process. 2) The spooler can write files outside the sandbox according to OpenFilePath settings. This enables you to permanently open the folders a particular printer driver uses to store its work files. 3) You can manually add the setting AllowSpoolerPrintToFile=y to sandboxie.ini. This is not recommended as it leaves your sandbox open to a print spooler exploit.
Any error msgs generated when auto-deleting a sandbox will now be shown to the user.

I currently use Windows Live Mail.
I was looking at "Office Home and Student 2010" and "Office Home and Business 2010" (1 user license).
Business has Outlook, where as Student doesn't.
Is Outlook "better" in any way than WLM?

A:Outlook 2010 vs. Windows Live Mail (Office suite)

Outlook is a paid program so it will have more functionality than WLM, but they will both have their ups and downs. Either you use free WML or pay for Outlook.

Windows Live Mail is free software which lacks the full functionality of Outlook. If you want to have something for free, use Live Mail. If you want something professional that will integrate your calendar, contacts, and email, use Outlook. Additionally, Outlook can connect to Microsoft Exchange Server, which should be considered if you are in a business environment.

As far as migration benefits, Outlook is far superior than Windows Live Mail or Outlook Express. Outlook stores all of your emails and data in a Microsoft Personal File Folder (PST File) which can be simply copied from your old computer to new computer if you ever buy a new system. Windows Live Mail is much more complicated and difficult to migrate.

from Should I be using Windows Live Mail or Outlook? - Super User

I would research the functions of both and see which one you prefer.

It seems Qihoo 360 products has a lot of bugs lately and i explain what i mean:

Using 64-bit Windows 8.1 Pro with an automatically updated Firefox, currently version 40.0.2.

Start up Firefox and...nothing. Check Process Explorer and see Firefox is there. Try to start up TCPview and...nothing. Decide to go back to Process Explorer and kill off Firefox - before I get that far - SHAZAAM! - TCPview starts, Firefox responds with browser window - all as it should be.

This has been the behavior for awhile now, admittedly intermittently but none-the-less a relatively new bad behavior.

And the REAL problem is hinted at by that TCPview issue up above - Firefox is freezing the whole system solid after a moment or two (Process Explorer can be run within that moment and displays dynamic results, windows can be switched to, but new processes (minimal testing) apparently cannot be started in a timely manner).

There are other complaints around the 'Net noting this type of behavior.

So...anyone know the reason for such powerful failure? (this should slow Firefox itself, not the entire system)

A:Latest couple Firefox versions slow/freeze whole system

Quick followup - this may be an Avast problem, not a Firefox problem, based off of searching for symptoms on the 'Net.

Hello Windows Insiders!

We?re excited to offer our Fast ring insiders a sneak peek at the latest features coming this spring to Windows Mixed Reality! Our favorite new updates in Insider Preview Build 17115 include:
A brand-new environment. In October we mentioned that the Cliff House was the first of many environments you?ll be able to enjoy in Windows Mixed Reality, and now we?re rolling out the Skyloft for you to customize and expand your MR experience. You can navigate there by selecting Places on the Mixed Reality Start menu.
As requested, we?ve added haptic feedback to the motion controllers for SteamVR games!
We?ve improved performance in SteamVR games with significantly lower video RAM usage. We?ve also improved the performance of live video preview in the Mixed Reality Portal on desktop.
You can now take mixed reality photos directly from your controller by holding the Windows button and then tapping the trigger. This works across environments and apps except for capturing content protected with DRM.
The automatic performance settings have been updated to provide an optimized experience, and we?ve added a new setting to override the default in Settings > Mixed Reality > Headset display.
Setup now provides more detailed information about common compatibility issues with USB3.0 controllers and graphics cards.
Many more improvements that the team has been hard at work on!

A:Preview the latest Windows Mixed Reality features; How they will change Live Surgeries

Last year around this time I had the chance to write a post about one of my favorite mixed reality uses cases ? healthcare.
Since that time, we have continued to see remarkable momentum for mixed reality across numerous facets of the industry. This week at HIMSS our team had the privilege to once again be on the ground to see and experience how customers and partners are embracing mixed reality to transform the way they innovate, support, and help others.

Coming out of the show I wanted to take a moment to spotlight some of the innovation work we are seeing from organizations who are working to forge the future of healthcare.

CAE Healthcare
Joining us onsite at HIMSS this year was CAE Healthcare. CAE is an industry leader in the development of simulation-based technologies, curriculum, and resources that improve clinical performance. I talked about some of their earliest work with Microsoft HoloLens last year ? well, they certainly haven?t slowed down!

CAE VimedixAR is the first ultrasound simulator to integrate HoloLens. Freed from the limits of a two-dimensional environment inside a monitor, healthcare professionals can display, enlarge, turn, and rotate realistic-looking anatomical parts, or command them to return into the manikin body. Users and those learning with this technology are able to witness (in real time) the ultrasound beam as it cuts through human anatomy.
With CAE LucinaAR, clinical learners can view 3D holograms of a fetus as it descend... Read more

Hello, i'm new to this forum and am ready to throw my PC on the road due to frustration.
Last night, whilst plugging my iphone 4 s into my windows 7 based PC with 64 bit to back up my phone things went horribly wrong.
The system told me in itunes that i need to down load the latest upgrade for itunes.
I tried this and with my phone plugged in through a USB port to charge it went haywire.
At the same time, as i was down loading the latest itunes 10.6 update, up pops the words "A network error occured while attempting to read from the file:
C:\windows installer\itunes 64 msi".
So i went back to the download page and clicked on the other download link and this time this message came up;
This itunes installer is intended for 32 bit versions of windows. Please download and instal the 64-bit itunes installer instead.
I could not find that installer so used other recommended installers, to no avail.
I tried re-installing the 64 bit version at least 6+ times from other sites, but the same error message keeps coming up as the 1st one i wrote above.
My iphone 4s is stuck on a picture showing a USB cable going to an itunes symbol. It will do nothing. It won't turn on/off and now my computer won't even recognize it when plugged in! Where did the driver go all of a sudden?
I reset my PC to a couple of days ago, then tried loading the program again, made no difference. I have updated drivers, iphone on the list, but not showing any problems.

A:Windows 7 will not download latest itunes 10.6 program why??

Welcome to Seven Forums.

There are two ways to upgrade iTunes to the current version. The first one is to upgrade it when you get a notice from Apple. The other way is to download the latest version of iTunes on the Hard Drive and then install it.

I prefer the latter method because I remain aware about what is happening. I suggest that you go to iTunes 10.6 for Windows (64 bit) and after downloading the 64-bit Setup Program on the hard drive, you install it.

Whether you succeed or fail by doing this, please do send a feedback on what happened.

Recently I installed an update for Windows Live Essentials 2011 (KB2434419), which came with a 'new look' version of Hotmail - Windows Live Mail 2011.

Since then I've had nothing but annoying issues with Hotmail, and it's settings and configurations. Issues which at times have caused parts of it to close down, and which have also created merry hell with the text of the emails.

First of all was this crazy warning message, which appeared each time I opened my Hotmail account:

A check of Problems Reports and Solutions showed that I was experiencing a major difficulty - an APPCRASH with Hotmail, but I didn't have a clue about how to fix it. This is the View of the Problem Details;

After considering the problem and the impasse that I was faced with, I decided to do the following in an attempt to create a 'workaround' of the problem, and to hopefully resolve the issues I was having;

1. I did a System Restore, back to the Restore Point immediately before I had downloaded and installed the latest Windows Updates, including KB2434419 - Update for Windows Live Essentials 2011, of which Windows Live Mail [Hotmail] is only one part.

2. After the Restore Point had been confirmed and my Laptop restarted [Rebooted] I then confirmed with a search of Windows Update, that KB2434419 was ready to reinstall to the Laptop. The Update for Windows Live Mail [Hotmail] was successfully reinstalled.

This method seems to have fixed the APPCRASH issues described above, because the Hot... Read more

A:Latest Windows Live Essentials 2011 Update [KB2434419] has corrupted Hotmail accounts

I've downloaded the full Windows Live Essentials 2011 and Windows Live Mail is a totally separate application from my Hotmail account (at least it is for me). Although my Hotlook account looks a little different, it is essentially the same as it has always been with a few more options (when accessed through the Bing Toolbar which is how I do it). It does NOT open Windows Live Mail 2011. It goes instead to my online Hotline account which is perfectly fine.

Were you previously using a prior version of Windows Live Mail or Windows Mail as the client for your Hotmail account instead of just using the direct online version? Have you tried going to the online version of Hotmail and checking if things are mucked up there or if that's only in Windows Live Mail? I suspect the problem is with Windows Live Mail and not with Hotmail.

I hope this helps. Let me know, and we'll see what we can come up with to fix the problem. Maybe you should consider uninstalling the update and see if that fixes the problem (unless you think that cured the larger problem). In either case, then maybe the best thing to do would be to seek help in the Windows Live Mail Forums where they know a lot more about it than we do.

Good luck!

After the latest update (KB3172985) of july 12 my windows 10 pro x64 is not saving the default browser anymore for instance. When I try setting the default browser the field just remains blank. Also every time a link is opened a menu asks me to select a browser, when I tick the box saying always use this program for this action, the default browser is still not set. All other program preferences won't update as well. I just reset them to see what happens and I can't change any of them now.

Is this a common issue, also what are the potential fixes short of reinstalling windows.

windows updates has urgent updates....for versions of office etc that I don't have and internet explorer which I do not use. is it necessary to download them?

also has a big download for nVidia drivers, but everything is working fine and I don't want to mess up to make updates happy

A:get updates for program versions I don't have?

Hide them all. It's what I do.
Especially the graphics driver, they usually try to overwrite your more current version with an older one. I can't figure out for the life of me why it keeps happening either.

The only way I would install office updates is if they relate to .net
...that is assuming that I didn't have office installed, which I do.

Can you run two different versions of the same program on the same computer? For instance, could I have two different versions of, let's say, Yahoo Messenger, an older version and a newer version, on the same computer and use each one independently at DIFFERENT times? I wouldn't want to run them at the same time.

Usually... it has been my experience if I downloaded a program it would tend to overwrite the older version. I would like to be able to use two different versions of the same program at different times because each version has its pros and cons.

Thanks in advance

A:Can you have 2 versions of a program on same computer?

Depends entirely on the program.

Some will let you install to an new location (eg: photoshop etc) and you can run them independantly; while others won't let you have two versions installed - either because it won't give you an option to install to another location or because of registry confilicts.

You could partition your drive and install a new OS; in that case the other prog could be installed as it will be added to a new registry - but a bit of a bother to have two versions of yahoo messenger installed. You would have to shutdown to access the other partitions OS.

Why two versions of the same program?
In many instances, I find two versions of the same program in my program files. Is it really necessary to have one that has the regular program name (with its accompanying version number) and a second version of the same program that carries the notation (64 bit). I'm running Win7 Pro in 64 bit. A surprising number of programs do this. It's as if the installer is incapable of detecting that the installation is on a system operating in 64 bit and so it installs both as a CYA move. But it seems wasteful of storage.

Do I really need the other version of the same program in order for the 64 bit version to work properly, or is this overkill on the part of program designers?

Thanks, Rich

Hi, i'm hoping that someone on this forum will be able to help me, one of our networked computers within our business network has been infected with the "Live Security Suite" virus which i am having a lot of trouble removing.

I have tried following various guides on this and other websites but none of them work due to the fact that the PC will not let me open any programs, even if renamed as some guides explain.

basically all i have been able to do at the moment is manually delete the following files although it does not seem to have helped much:

Hi all! I know nothing about computers, but the one I use at work seems to have been infected with the Live Security Suite malware. I've downloaded and run the MBAM program on this site twice, following all instructions carefully, but it doesn't seem to be able to find the little bugger and insists there are no infected files. However, after rebooting there's the popups and porn sites again! What do I do now? Any help appreciated- thanks! dw

When I open up Add/Remove Programs, or even if I use Revo Uninstaller, I find that I have multiple versions of the same program installed. It's not *exactly* the same, it just seems that an older version wasn't uninstalled when the newer one was. I have read this tutorial on what to do when you didn't properly uninstall something and have "leftovers", but I'm not sure that that applies in this case. When I tried googling, I found something about why you might have multiple versions of Java installed, and that made sense, but these ones don't.The most annoying examples are:Microsoft Office Home & Student 2007 Trial & Microsoft Office Enterprise 2007 (something to do with it being a different suite?!)Spybot - Search & Destroy & Spybot - Search & Destroy 1.4 (that first one is version 1.6.2, so it's newer)What I basically want to know is if I can uninstall the earlier version without it turning around and uninstalling the whole thing (especially w/ Office, as I definitely need it but that damned trial is taking up almost 800MB!!), and I want to know why this happens in the first place so I can prevent it from occurring in the future! Then there's the gamut of Microsoft .NET Framework programs: 1.0 Hotfix, 1.1, 2.0 service pack 2, 3.0 service pack 2, 3.5SP1. Do I need any of those other than 3.5SP1 (and maybe that hotfix because it was apparently only just installed)?Any... Read more

A:Multiple versions of same program installed

Some programs may detect older versions installed and ask you or automatically remove the older version before installing. But other programs do not act this way. So a better approach is when you install a new software you should check and uninstall older or different versions first. You can always go to Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs and uninstall the older un-needed versions. You can uninstall the trial version of Office Student. If that changes some file opening or association behavior, then you can perform a repair install of Office Enterprise. You need all .NET versions because you never know which software is using which version of .NET. So keep all the versions and the security fixes. Hotfixes are needed to protect you from known vulnerabilities, so do not uninstall them.

Hello folks,
I have a small question to ask about avg antivirus free editon. I am running of course, the 8.5 edition and had a small problem with it having a little false positive fit. Usually ive seen this from avg before and they would have a small dot update that would fix it but lately im noticing that my . updates are not happening for instance, avg 8.5.283 and the installed version on my pc according to the main avg window is: 8.5.278. What is odd is that the program does not update. Now, i have the new ad aware anniversary edition installed on my pc and heard a report from my dad with it interfering with an install. Could this be causing the problem? Because other menial updates do work properly in avg and i have no problem. Is anyone else having this problem? If anyone has a solution please let me know. Also, is it normal for avg to not update the main program through its own updater?

sir, Two computers(winXP-pro-sp3) in my office have infected with virus/malwares but of different nature. In First machine, Avira free was installed. Same machine had to be reformatted(only C-drive out of three partitions, C, D & E) a week ago after a virus removal exercise with Mcafee AV, which resulted vanishing of Desktop & start menu. Probably fresh virus infection occured due to non-formatting of other two partitions containing lot of data( mainly .doc, .pdf, .jpg, .htm & .txt). This time I tried to clean the machine with a updated Nod32(installation folder copied from another machine) kept in a flash drive. cleaning was done in safe mode when some 2000+ virus was removed by Nod32 including some conficker, autoit viruses. Before reaching safe mode, I tried TaskMgr, Msconfig, regedit & windows search, all of which were disabled. However, it was possible to view hidden files & file extentions, inluding system files. But after reboot, viruses not removed, took control of machine & reaching safe mode was blocked. One thing i noted is infection of svchost.exe & explorer.exe. First one was operated from a folder(2537452) within system32, second one was associated with a file "regsvr.exe"I read your article for removal of security tool & accordingly downloaded rkill.com, kept in desktop & wanted to run but every time virus terminated the application before starting. I could install a current version of malwarebytes' Antim... Read more

i have 2 profiles, one on firefox version 24 for a few reasons, download window, old school search bar, faster
another profile is latest version of firefox for newer viewing compatibility, which I sometimes use chrome too if both firefox doesn't work.

issue is, on firefox 24, its faster compared to latest versions of firefox (even on clean profile) and to reproduce issue is rather simple. don't maximize window and drag firefox window around the screen and watch CPU usage spikes up.

for firefox 24 the usage doesnt go up at all but on latest versions of firefox (pretty much anything after ffox 26) if drag the window around for even 5sec CPU usage will spike like crazy, like its trying to render graphic or something with CPU. for both versions I have hardware acceleration disabled already so I don't think its that.

anyone know whats going on?

My computer experienced a power glitch leaving some files corrupted. Multiple system restores failed, some of them pointing to an unnamed, damaged Maximizer file. A CHKDSK was run and it fixed what it could but the residual effects left some important features of Maximizer 11 Entrepreneur, a contact manager, inoperable. This could be caused by a damaged executable or a data file used by Maximizer. The program is no longer supported.

I can restore the Maximizer folder in C:\Program Files (x86)\Maximizer\ going back to many dates before my disk problem using Previous Versions but I'm not sure this will lead to a fix. Will the files prior to the disk problem be OK? The files in previous folders have the same "Date modified" according to Explorer. Is there a utility that can check for file differences?

Has anyone tried to repair programs using such a technique. If so, I would appreciate learning from your experience.

First of all, I'd like to thank Cheeseball81, Cookiegal, and Rollin' Rog for helping me with my malware problem. I've been thinking of uninstalling Norton suite from my PC and replacing it either the 90 day trial of Windows Live OneCare (another suite) or AVG free and the ZoneAlarm firewall. What are your suggestions? Oh, and I found another problem. The undeletable "xerox" folder containing another "nwwia" folder is back. Every, single time I boot it returns, even when I boot to safemode and ran Killbox on it! Any suggestions about that?

Hi john landale Windows Live Mail is a component of Windows Live Essentials. In order to remove it, go in your Control Panel, under Uninstall a program and uninstall Windows Live Essentials. From there, it'll list you the components that are installed. Check Windows Live Mail and pursue with the uninstall, then it'll be gone.
