Can't install Intel Thunderbolt Controller Driver - 10 [64]

Q: Can't install Intel Thunderbolt Controller Driver - 10 [64]

Every time I run the Lenovo Updater it doesn't install the driver Intel Thunderbolt Controller Driver - 10 [64]. Every other software installes fine, except this one. This is making it so my docking station doesn't work. The LAN won't work, as well as USB. This is on an X1 Yoga 2nd Gen. I've tried to manually install the driver as well and it won't install. I called lenovo and they just sent a tech to come replace the system board, which obvioulsy did nothing. Please give me some troubleshooting steps! Thanks in advance!

I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

Hello friends,

I'm having problems trying to install Windows 7, hopefully you guys can help.

I own an HP Stream 13 like this one here: Amazon.com: HP Stream 13.3-Inch Laptop (Intel Celeron, 2 GB RAM, 32 GB SSD, Cobalt Blue) with Office 365 Personal for One Year: Computers & Accessories

It came with Windows 10 pre-installed. I get free access to Windows products via dreamspark through my school. I decided I wanted to download Windows 7. I got through the setup and ended up at the partition part where it says:
"Windows cannot be installed to this disk. Windows needs the driver for device [Intel SD Host Controller]. Click 'Load Driver' and load the required device driver."
I have tried downloading Intel's automatic driver detection utility thing, but that did not work.

I have also tried Shift+F10, diskpart, list disk, sel disk 0, clean. But it came with an error in the command prompt that says:
"Virtual Disk Service error:
Clean is not allowed on the disk containing the current boot,
system, pagefile, crashdump or hibernation volume."

I'm at a stump. Any help is greatly appreciated.

A:Unable to install Windows 7 [Intel SD Host Controller] driver needed?

Hi Uni,
W7 likes to be installed as No1, even on a virtual Drive.
Your best bet is to install 7 and make 10 the virtual,
BUT
if you only have 2gb Ram, then you'll have to use 32bit versions, or buy more Ram

The drivers should available via the HP website for that model

My PC recently ran an automatic update of the thunderbolt software and then the next day it no longer was able to output to a second display from USB C to DP. Then a few days ago Lenovo released a hot fix because of something about the previous version messing with some controllers and I guess mine was one of them. I've spent days trying to fix this and now my thunderbolt controller is pretty much non existent everywhere like device manager even after completely reinstalling windows on a new drive. I can't get it to show up in my device manager even under hidden devices, I can't install the software or the firmware. It just doesn't exist.

Hello, I was trying to update my P1 Thunderbolt driver earlier today, in order to get my eGPU in work. After I restart, the eGPU just not able to connect to my machine. I've properly install the TB software, but when I want to perform a firmware update again, it shows the TB device is not installed. I've tried various BIOS settings for that but non of them works. I've tried several times of reinstall and uninstall the software with different versions, it just dont' work. Then, I opened the Version of the Controller Software, as the pic showed here, it shows unknown. SO does the firmware update detect, It showed as pic 2. I assume it's due to a corrupted drive of the controller, or it's broken. But I cant find any way to recover the controller driver version. Is it only happend on my machine?

Solution provided by DELL to a problem I have been unable to resolve on my Lenovo P50 using Lenovo Tools and Drivers. Background Info: I have Windows 7 Ult SP1 Retail on my P50, with two issues.1. MS Paint, Lenovo Battery utility and the Lenovo Network utility would never display a window when opened, just an icon in the taskbar or a splash screen, then absolutely nothing. Mouse would go jittery for about 20-30 seconds. 2. I could not get a USB3.1 external drive dock to work on the USB C port. The external drive dock came with a USB C to USB3.1 cable. Ruled out the dock as an issue. So I uninstalled all Intel drivers, Lenovo utilities and the Graphics drivers to get back to a base Win 7 install and confirmed Paint worked. Reinstalled drivers individually checking system behaviour at each step. I suspect item 1 was resolved by the most recent Lenovo graphics driver bundle. Item 2 is where DELL come to the rescue. The only Win 7 Lenovo USB 3.1 driver (Version 15.2.30.11) will not install on my system manually and fails using any of the Lenovo tools or utilities.http://pcsupport.lenovo.com/au/en/products/Laptops-and-netbooks/ThinkPad-P-Series-laptops/ThinkPad-P... is a dud. It was originally installed during Win7 install using the built in Admin Account before the OOBE. Hello to everyone,

So, before some time I had Win 8 and everything was fine. After a while I have had installed fresh Win 8.1 system. After that I tried and tried to make USB 3.0 in function but not successful. Trying everything, reinstalling, looking from ASUS website for drivers, but then I agreed with myself that I will wait until Win 10 came out so I had hope that this will solve my problem but it didn't! :-( I also looked on forums, different threads but no luck. I have got ASUS laptop G55VW (ROG series) and on ASUS website there is no drivers for win 10 (except 8 and 9 Series chipset) and yes, it's good to know if someone could help me, my chipset is HM77 Ivy Bridge.

Thank you in advance!

Ivan

A:Intel® USB 3.0 eXtensible Host Controller driver

Try to download the driver directly from www.intel.com If there is no Windows 10 driver, download the Windows 8 driver instead. You may have to run it in Windows 8 compatibility mode. Right-click on the file and select Properties. Go to Compatibility tab and check the box to set compatibility to Windows 8. Also check the Run as Administrator box. Now it should install OK. It is a good idea to also update the chipset drivers (found in the software section of Intel download site).

Intel's site confuses you and it takes some guesswork to find a driver. Both drivers for USB 3.0 and chipset are in Software section, Chipset software. To save you the trouble, here is the direct link for the USB 3.0 driver. Yes, it says it is Windows 7 only because Windows 8 and 10 are supposed to install a driver automatically through Windows Update. So what! Download it and run it in Windows 7 compatibility mode. It should be far better than Windows Update generic USB 3.0 driver.

A:[P51] Intel USB 3.1 eXtensible Host Controller and Hub Driver

Hello,

I have split your reply off from the Intel USB 3.1 eXtensible Host Controller and Hub Driver message thread involving the ThinkPad P50 into a separate one for your P51 for visibility.

If I am reading the screenshot correctly, it looks like the digital signature on the device driver for the USB host either cannot be read, is missing, or cannot be verified (which I assume means a connection being made to Microsoft's servers for verification).

It seems very odd to me that Lenovo would ship a ThinkPad P51 preloaded with Windows 10 containing an unsigned device driver.  And, if I am interpreting the screen correctly, the driver is actually written by Microsoft, not Intel (the "(Microsoft)" at the end of the driver's name).

My initial thought is that somehow the operating system install was corrupted during installation by Lenovo.  It must ben extraordinarly rare event, as I think I have seen it perhaps twice in the past twenty years or so, but that is about the only scenario I can think of where one could find a corrupt file in the preloaded operating system.

If this is the case, there's only one solution I can think of, and that's to order the recovery media from Lenovo, wipe the drive, and then perform a clean install of the operating system using the recovery media.  The reason that I suggest doing it this way, as opposed to using the recovery partition, is because I'm concerned that if there's a problem with one pre-load... Hi Everyone,

I've recently had some trouble installing a RAIDO disk configuration under Windows 7 Ultimate x64 (see my 3rd reply here Help Needed....BSOD during Windows 7 Installation suspect that the drivers aren't quite Windows 7 "compatible", and are responsible for the problems.

I'm wondering if anyone here knows whether there are updated Windows 7 x64 drivers available for the Intel ICH8R/ICH9R/ICH10R/PO/PCH SATA RAID Controller distributed by Gigabyte? I've googled and searched the Gigabyte website, but I can't find the same files as shown on the original CDROM in the attached image.

These files are from late 2009, and I wonder if there has been an update that might fix the issues I have. This is for a Gigabyte GA-P55A-UD3P Rev.1.0 motherboard.

Thanks,

Installing Windows 7 x64 SP1 from scratch on a brand new pc.

The Asus X99 Deluxe/U3.1 that I have bought came with a drivers disk: LAN, RAID, Bluetooth, audio, whatever.

Also with Intel USB 3.0 controller driver.
After necessary rebooting Windows freezes: alt-ctrl-del even does not work.

Question: do I need these drivers?
Really don't know. Maybe they are already in the Windows install ?

Seems to me that once Windows freezes after only having installed audio and LAN drivers and I need to reboot using the powerbutton, Windows is less stable.

A few usb devices won't be recognized and there is a yellow warning symbol in the device manager of Win 7 that there is a driver that was "installed incorrectly". I did some research on the missing driver name and found it on the Intel support site. I downloaded the Win 7 version. I ran it and it claims that my "system does not meet requirements". It's not seeing an old IDE hard drive (500gig) that I have a an external usb connected enclosure for. Very frustrated and I am not sure why Windows 7 isn't playing nice. I even uninstalled the "incorrect" driver that it stuck me with and restarted the system hoping it would possibly reinstall the drive correctly. No dice. I would greatly appreciate some fix for this as I need to get this drive read to move files from it. It is Fat32 and I can't erase it without deleting everything on it. Plus, the drive isn't recognized when I plug in the usb cable. I will post the error messages to shed hopefully some light on this.

I'm having trouble installing the drivers for a Intel 82852/82855 GM/GME Graphics Controller in Windows 7 on a Gateway/Motion Computing M1300 tablet.

Before you say "DriverMax" please note that Windows 7 is the only operating system installed on the tablet. I hope there's another way to get it working.

Here's the thing that strikes me as odd: I have gotten it to work perfectly, but as soon as I restart it goes back to its old ways (default VGA controller driver, etc).

Here's what I do to get it working:

1) I run the setup file that came with the driver I downloaded from Intel (version 14.19.50), either natively or in Windows XP compatibility mode,
2) The setup software asks me to restart, and I comply

When the computer boots back up after those steps everything is working just fine, BUT then a Windows prompt appears telling me that I need to restart in order to complete the driver configuration. When I restart hardware once again has trouble.

Here are some screenshots that took while the driver was working correctly:

Why does it say that it will uninstall the drivers when restarted?

And here are some screenshots taken while the driver is NOT working correctly:

My real problem with not having the correct driver installed is not that display functions are lost (though they are), but that the Hibernate and Stand By modes are disabled.

Hello.

I was/am trying to solve a BSOD issue and made things worse.
After running memory tests, hard drive diagnostics, sfc /scannow, and not coming up with anything I started to lean towards driver issues.
I used WhoCrashed to analyze my system and it pointed to iastor.sys (intel storage manager driver)
Then I used DriverMax to show me drivers that need to be updated, there were a lot but I started with 2 Intel drivers:

Intel ICH10R SATA AHCI controller
Intel 82801 PCI Bridge -244e

I used DriverMax to download and install the drivers, after updating and restarting my machine it was very slow and it crashes frequently. Takes 5 minutes to boot windows and 30 seconds or more to complete any simple task (clicking on start button, scrolling navigation sliders, opening programs, etc.) and the computer crashes before I can do anything besides open a program. It did have a message that said driver failed to install. I opened DriverMax to rollback the drivers but it crashes while doing so.

I can start it in safemode and the computer is still extremely slow but does not crash. I went to do a system restore to the point before I updated the driver and 7 or 8 hours later is was still on the logging out of windows screen. I restarted and tried again to an even earlier point and the same thing happened again. I then restarted and opened safe mode w/command prompt and ran sfc /scannow and here it is 12 hours later with only 14% of the verification phase done. It's not frozen just m... Read more

Hi Logan,
I apologize for the inconvenience caused. The driver for USB 3.0 is not available as Windows 8 includes native support for USB 3.0.I will recommend you to  re-install chipset drivers:

Click on 'Start ‘and right click on 'My Computer'.
Click on 'Manage' and click on 'Device Manager'.
Expand 'Universal Bus Controller' and right click on each entry named as 'USB Root Hub' and click on 'uninstall'.

Hello!
I was upgrading my Latitude E5530 with Samsung 850 EVO SSD. I have downloaded OS reinstallation image from Dell support page and put it on USB flash stick. I have replaced HDD with SSD and began clean install.
First surprise was error window telling I need CD/DVD with drivers for my hardware. I saw recomendations to give Intel RST driver, it was recognized, but that did not wort, I could not continue installation. At this time USB flash stick was in USB port on the left side of the notebook.
Next I put the stick in the port on the right side of the note, and it worked like a charm, the system was deployed in 6 minutes.
Next it was attempt to install drivers. I have manually installed NIC driver, then Dell Command Update and let it install drivers. That attempt was messed. I have been tasked with rebuilding a handful of old(ish) Dell E6330 laptops. All with the same hardware specs, 7 series/C216 chipset family. I am losing sleep over this and could really use a fresh perspective.
I am starting from a base Win 7 64 bit OS, provided by Dell. I have been able to update all of the drivers including BIOS except the "Intel 3.0 extensible host controller" whenever i try to install it, it gives me the BSOD just after installation.
When i go into device manager, it shows installed, but none of the usb 3.0 ports work (which is all of them). However, when i hook the laptop up to a docking station, i can get the 2.0 ports to work, so i have a work around.
I noticed that after i get the BSOD, under "Universal Serial Bus Controllers" in device manager, there is a Unknown Device listed in there. Though there is no yellow exclamation identifying there is something wrong, when i open it, it says "No drivers are installed for this device" when i select update driver it says the best driver software for your device is already installed (Intel R USB 3.0 Root Hub).

Any help is appreciated!

Hi,
I'm looking for driver for Intel SD Host Controller device, a part of Dell Inspiron 14 3452, for Windows 7 x64
Device ID: ACPI\VEN_8086&DEV_0F14 or ACPI\80860F14 as it appears in Windows 10 installed there now.
Hardware identifier apps detect that that's part of Braswell chipset.

Please help with finding the driver.

What I checked:
1. Intel and Dell driver download resources, including www.dell.com/.../advanced drivers for chipset, including extraction of drivers from all relevant driver packages.
2. Intel's and Dell's Update apps to find drivers.
3. Whatever Windows 7 installation app gets from the internet when pointed to go online at the start of Windows 7 installation, as there is an option to get drivers from internet at the beginning if Widows 7 installation is running from under Windows 10.
4. Alternative websites and forums for drivers.
5. Driver packages from other vendors for their laptops using likely the same hardware.
6. Drivers for Windows 10 and Windows 8.
7. Dell's support including phone based ones.
8. Intel community.
9. BIOS update - done, didn't help.
Nothing helped.

Details:
I can't get drivers for Windows 7 using Windows Update as now I have Windows 10 installed on that laptop. I can't use any kind of driver downloader app as now I have Windows 10 on a laptop I need drivers for, and that downloaders can get drivers only for OS version they are installed on. I have been searching high and low for the IRST driver or equivalent that contains the
IntelSM35 Express Chipset SATA AHCI Controller-0816 driver. If anyone is able to point me in the right direction, I would be very greatful. I do not want to download from a dodgy website, would really prefer a link directly to Intel's site. If anyone can help, it would be appreciated.

Hello guys,

I need help for my new build.

from a fresh install of windows 10 i try to install the drver for my IGPU Intel HD 530. each time i do that i get a BSOD with this message:

VIDEO_TDR_FAILURE igdkmd64.sys
Or sometimes it's
SYSTEM_THREAD_EXEPTION_NOT_HANDELED igdkmd64.sys

i've tried drivers from motherboard manufacturer CD, website and intel and some autodetect driver software .
i always get the same behavior:

the screen start blinking several time ( black screen) before showing the BSOD then reboot and repeat it self.
even the driver downloaded by windows update have the same impact.
i've managed to install it in safe mode but when i restart in normal mode i get the same behavior.
i've tried 2 different monitors, VGA and HDMI , tried with UEFI on/off => same result.
i've tweaked onece the tdr delay to 8 second, but didnt work.

i really need some help here, i'm desperate!

A:Unable to install Intel HD graphics driver on a fresh install of WIN10

The most likely suspect is a bad video chip.

Now it could be a power related problem too, or heat, but if you have used good parts and a cool case and have tried multiple versions of the driver then it starts looking like hardware failure is likely.

Who makes your 550W power supply?

Double check all of your connections.
And you could go into the UEFI/BIOS and reset all defaults - don't do any tweaking until this problem is resolved.
Is that board running the most recent version of the BIOS?

Hey what's up ,
i am having a problem that almost get me insane, i have a laptop (Toshiba Satellite L70-A-13P) well it's my friend laptop, it's been more than 2 weaks that i am triying to install drivers for it ,but what i am stuck at is the driver for the Graphic Card i've been looking for a long time for a compatible one ,and somehow i've managed to do that, but now i am facing a problem that everytime i tried to install it ,it gave me this error message "you must install intel driver first" and for me i gues all the dirvers are installed; what make me sure of that is that i've tried some website and 2 programs to detect drivers and they all gave the result that all the drivers are okay , what should i do now to make the driver work for my Graphic Design since i can't play any video game please if anyone has any idea please give me a hand much appreciated thanks in advance.

A:Graphic Card Driver (you must install intel driver first)

Hi Serious Gamer,

You could try running the Intel Driver Update Utility. Completely safe directly from the Intel site, it should find any drivers that our out of date and update them. Intel® Driver Update Utility

I know you said you ran multiple programs like that and if you've already tried that one, just let me know. I was trying to find a specifications sheet about your friends laptop, best I could find was this. Product data-sheet Toshiba Satellite L70-A-13P notebooks (PSKNEE-03X02WFR)

Does his laptop have the discrete graphics card or the on-board graphics?

Hi,
I have a Dell XPS L502x, which I bought late 2012. Recently the hard drive became corrupt so I've replaced it and installed Windows 7 on the new hard drive. I've just downloaded and ran the software to detect which drivers I need to install and have downloaded and installed all of them with the exception of the nvidia graphics driver which says I need to install an Intel driver first. I've searched the Dell site but I can't find the Intel driver I need.
Please can you point me to the Intel driver that I need to install?
Cheers,

Those look like files you would use to manually install the device from the device manager menu or when you first begin Windows installation.  Unless there is something wrong with Intel RST I wouldn't bother with it.

I had one of my regular BSOD (I'm quite sure its a RAM issue) and nothing unusual ever really comes from it, however today it screwed up my USB controller driver and now I'm perplexed as to how to get a fix for it.

(Windows 7 64-bit)

Windows recognises all of my 8 Universal Serial Bus (USB) Controller devices in Device Manager and upon startup it attempts to install the drivers, but fails on each one of them every time. I've tried to manually update the driver and I get the message:

"Windows found driver software for your device but encountered an error while attempting to install it.

Intel(R) ICH9 Family USB Universal Host Controller - 2935

The system cannot find the file specified."

The file associated with each of these devices is C:\Windows\System32\drivers\usbuhci.sys

I've tried countless chkdsk C: /f in CMD to no avail and my Windows 7 disc did nothing to automatically find a cure (wasn't sure how to find the driver manually from disc). I've been told that the drivers for USB controllers are downloaded through Windows Update however I have extremely limited internet bandwidth and simply cannot be downloading 300mb of updates (I searched and couldn't find anything vaguely matching the description of the driver I'm after).

This is driving me a little mad and I really don't want to resort to reinstalling Windows. I've tried Aida32 to try and find out my motherboard type and it shows as unknown... Does anyone have any advice I haven't tried... Read more

Be sure you are plugging this device into the Back USB port if it is a Desktop, not the front. If the device has a power adapter, be sure to use it and to plug it directly into the wall not an extension cord or surge protector. If the USB device does not get enough power, it will not load the driver.

It is not recognizing his ethernet controller.

Now....he had JUST re installed Windows, as he had had a virus, so he erased his HDD, and re started from scratch.

He cannot go onto the internet, so he dropped off his laptop with me, as I can use mine to try and fix his.

I have searched ALL of Acers driver sites (NA, Eur, and Asia), and not one of them has an actual ethernet controller driver for what he is running.

I need help, as I am totally stuck.

Thank you in advance, and BTW, great site you have here guys!!

Hi

I've just bought parts and collected a new PC system. My Motherboard is AsRock M3A785GXH/128 ASRock > Products > M3A785GXH/128M

and regarding to the manufacturer it should be Windows 7 hardware ready.

But I can't install Windows 7 pro 64 bit on my new system. The Windows 7 installation application can't see my harddrives and want a driver to them. I assume that should be a driver for the SATA controller on the motherboard. I've tryed to use the drivers on the motherboard cd-rom and tryed to use the drivers froms asrock homepage, but Windows 7 wont accept them.

I have contacted AsRock about this issue, but I'm wating for an answer and hoped that you guys might has seen this problem before, and will answer quicker than AsRock Support

I should say that I cant install Windows Vista Business 64bit without any problems at all.

Any suggetions would be appreciated!

Recently Upgraded: Running Windows 7, 64-bit on MSI Z97 ATX board with Intel Core i7-4790K processor. I installed the drivers from the CD that came with the board from MSI.

My usage is strictly internet, e-mail and office applications. Occasional other usage is to connect additional hard disk via internal SATA and scanning for viruses and malicious programs. I do not overclock or play games.

I am trying to determine whether there is any real benefit to keeping the following:
"Intel USB 3.0 eXtensible Host Controller Driver". I thought USB3 drivers were already in W7 so why do I need this driver from Intel? I've read this; but, it never gets into whether it is an essential program or what functionality might be lost if I uninstall it.
"MSI Super Charger". I've read this; but, I can't see any real benefit, The only thing I charge from this computer is my phone and I am very well satisfied with its charging time.
