Latest version of BIOS for IdeaPad Y500 running Windows 10?

Q: Latest version of BIOS for IdeaPad Y500 running Windows 10?

I want to update my BIOS from 2.00 to 2.02, as it might help fix the error code 43 going on with one of my USB drivers, but I haven't been able to find a reliable download for it anywhere. Here's what shows up when I look for the specific BIOS I'm looking for: I don't want to download one that turns out to be the wrong one, thus screwing over my laptop, so does anyone know where I can get a BIOS compatible with my device? For further clarification, my laptop is a really old hand-me-down that my dad bought 8 to 10 years ago, but it's still in working order and doesn't seem to be showing any signs of shutting down for good. My dad won't buy me another laptop, and I pretty much have no money, so I want to make the best out of this device. P.S., sorry for how much I'm posting! My computer is just being kinda funky ^^'

I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

I flashed to the latest U310 bios (http://download.lenovo.com/consumer/mobiles/65cn99ww.exe). I switched to "legacy boot mode" (from UEFI), in an attempt to workaround a driver issue. Now, I'm no longer able to enter BIOS whatsoever. There are plenty of forum posts by many users hitting the same or similar issues on U310/U410/U330 and similar ideapad products. But the resolutions where they exists are either invalid, or involve flashing to 65cn99ww.exe, which is not possible. [Environment]Lenovo IdeaPad U310 touch, Windows 8 (also tried Windows 8.1) [What I did]Flashed BIOS using official Lenovo bits (65cn99ww.exe). A:IdeaPad U310 touch: Can no longer enter bios after updating to latest version

[Update] After trying a million things, I was able to reset the CMOS from within Windows using the CMOS de-animator tool. I zero'd out my CMOS and then was easily able to enter BIOS on next boot. The tool is available here: http://boginjr.com/it/sw/dev/de-cmos3/ This is a kinda high risk tool to workaround Lenovo's terribly buggy BIOS. But I can confirm, at least, that it works successfully on my Lenovo u310 touch. But use at your own risk. Hope it can help out the next person. Lenovo: fix your buggy BIOS!!

Hi there,

This is something I've seen for the first time: latest BIOS version (that, by chance, I use) disappears from site.

A few months ago I updated the BIOS (HP Insyde) to the latest version: site mentioned this is version F.26 and all went well.
Checked BIOS and System Info: yep is F.26 alright.
I have it backuped. Was released in April - May.

There are no issues at all so far but HP seems to have reverted back to version F.24 as the latest one on the website.
I don't think it's possible to revert back the update because it was mentioned in the change-log but to me this version is stable.

This is the same site and laptop model.
Notice sp60606 for F.24 while the F.26 is called sp61457...

I wonder why they removed it...
Any ideas on this one? Anyone else seen this or similar on their machines?

Well, since all functions normally I'll keep this F.26 version and check their site regularly just in case.

A:BIOS latest version

Maybe they pulled it because of this discovered issue when certain hardware configurations were trying (unsuccessfully) to update to F.26:

I just got my Precision 390 Thursday, and I immediately updated it w/the new 2.4.0 BIOS. Everything went OK w/my update. At the time, I still had the NVS 285 video card that came w/it, installed. Since then, I have installed an ATI X1950 XTX video card, 4 gb of memory, and re[laced the processor w/the Intel Q6600 processor. Everything is working OK.

I want to update my BIOS to the latest version but its soo complicated.

The Asus Update tool is the most disfunctional piece of crap i've ever come across and i've been to the Asus site and downloaded the updates ut dont know how to work them.

I havent got a clue how to do it.

Anyway, i've also had trouble determining my currrent BIOS version.

In my BIOS, it says...

Version: 08.00.09
Build Date: 08/03/04
ID: A0058002

It also says at the bottom...

V02.54 (C) Copyright 1985 - 2003, American Megatrends, Inc.

And in dxdiag window, it says...

BIOS: Rev2.00

Now for f*ck sake, what the bloody hell is that all about???

Anyway, could someone link me to the files I need to update my BIOS to the latest version and how?

Thanks in advance :slurp:

Please help. Trying to upgrade it from the Store but it is stuck at installing, it seems halfway through. Left it overnight (8 hours) but still at the same place. Tried again, 3 times already but the same result. Then I tried downloading Window 8.1 ISO through official channels with success but when I try it that way it requires me to input my present Windows 8 product serial which originally came with the machine. But that didn't work because it is OEM.  Ultimately I am trying to upgrade to windows 10 but I need to upgrade to 8.1 first.

Hello, folks! I installed and update from Windows 10 Build 1803 to 1903 around a week ago. I noticed that my USB ports would keep telling me error messages that they didn't make before, such as not recognizing a USB device or complaining about a power surge. After doing some resets and further updates, the problem is there again, but for a different reason. Apparently, my USB xHCI Compliant Host Controller won't start, even though I didn't tamper with my hardware. Here's a screenshot I took of it in the Device Manager, displaying an error code 10: Yay, an error! I 'm trying to download a BIOS update in bootable CD format for a T540p. The file linked on the Lenovo Support site is for version 2.26, even though 2.27 is listed and should be the latest. I have the same problem.  My machine is Envy x360 M6-AQ105DX Convertible.  It started the day before yeserday.
I had F.21 installed, and Support Assistant notified me to upgrade to F23, 12/23/16.  I did so, and it worked.
Then Suppoert Assistant said I needed another BIOS upgrade to F.23 Ap1 1/12/17.  I installed it, but it just re-installed F.23.  I tried it twice with the same result.
Today, it is still saying I need an updated BIOS (F.23 Ap1),  So I went to  the HP site and it said the latest BIOS is F,23 Rev 1 dated 1/12/17.  I downloaded the SP file SP78934.exe and installed the BIOS yet again.  It reinstalled F23, 12/23/16.
Support Assistant is still showing that a newer BIOS is available.
Someone needs to tell HP that they have the wrong SP file associated with the new BIOS.

I have an HP Compaq 6910p with BIOS F.19 and a T7300 processor.  Looking at possible upgrades I have three questions: 1) Is F.19 the last BIOS level for these?  If not what is the latest BIOS level and where can I find it? 2) I see Core 2 Extreme X9000 support was added in F.13 - is that the fastest possible processor? 3) Can you confirm the maximum memory for these is 8GB (not 4GB as stated in the spec.)? ThanksDave

A:6910p latest BIOS version and faster supported processor

Right now HP is reworking its support websites to the service manual is not accessible. I was able to access the driver page and can confirm F.19 was the last issued BIOS. F.13 just says added support for additional Intel processors; I cannot find a list of which. Debatable whether you are better off with something like a T9x00 with higher clock speed or the Quad Core. I would guess that if it takes a Quad Core processor it can also run 8 gigs of DDR2, but 8 gigs of DDR2 costs about $100 and not sure that is a justified investment in a laptop that still has posted Windows 2000 drivers it is so old.  These classic Windows Xp era HP/Compaq business notebooks are great, rugged machines and I can understand wanting to keep it going, however.  If this is "the Answer" please click "Accept as Solution" to help others find it.

Hi  For the Ideapad 520S I want to be able to boot from an USB SSD were I placed Windows 7 in order to store and handle older programs. (I have windows 10 installed on the Ideapad) The standard instructions say:(option 1 - go into the exit menu)Set OS optimized defaults as other OS. However, I don't have this option to change to another OS. It just says yes or no.  (Option 2 - go into the boot menu) Set the boot mode to Legacy suport - That does not work, the arrow scroll (select item) does not go up to Boot Menu so I cannot change from UEFI to Legacy support. If that would have worked otherwise, I could then have enabled USB boot. (Now the US Boot is anyway enabled, but it always boots in standard mode via internal SSD)- There is something in how the BIO is set up that I need to change regarding the order, so that I can change the boot mode from UEFI to Legacy support and then enable USB boot for real. (This is not covered in the standard instructions that can be applied to Ideapad 520S.  If somebody has a helping hand I would be very greatful.  Thanks a lot Best MarksKnight

Hi guys, I just want to post an issue that I'm experiencing for your reference. My P50 machine is docked and connected with an external display. When its bios is upgraded to the latest two version, i.e. version 1.39 or 1.40, it cannot be started up properly at docking condition. The external display is dark, while the LCD display seems stuck at "LENOVO" screen. I am unable to access the bios mode at that time. However, when I undock the machine, it begins to start up and ultimately enters  Windows. Then I dock it back, everything works well. I restart the machine and it can also start up properly to Windows. But if I try a "cold" startup, the issue comes back. Now I downgrade the machine to bios version 1.38 and everything works fine. I figure that there could be something wrong with the latest two version of bios. If you want to upgrade your bios and you have the similar configuration as I have, please be aware that you might experience the issue. BRJin

I have Y500 running on Windows 7 64bit with dual GT 650M video cards:

Product: 20193

Serial: ##########

BIOS: 6BCN34WW(V1.05)

I recently realized that only a single card appears in my Device Manager. I probably have never used my 2nd video card so far. Lenovo Solution Center also only finds a single video card only.
After spending days cleaning and testing different drivers with no success, I read that there has been a known issue with the SLI cards in the official BIOS that might have never been solved. I could not find any official BIOS update on the official Lenovo support website. I found some unofficial page here that offers an unofficial update 2.02 here but I could not download due to some primium membership requirements.
1. Is it true that Lenovo never fixed this SLI issue and never offered any BIOS update? If that's true, then, Lenovo, why did you sell me a laptop with dual video cards if they officially do NOT work and why haven't you done anything about it?

Good day.
You can find BIOS v2.04 here: https://pcsupport.lenovo.com/us/en/products/laptops-and-netbooks/ideapad-y-series-laptops/ideapad-y5...
Not sure if that will help you with your current concern, but it is the official BIOS, and it's higher versioned than v2.02 you've mentioned above.

Hello, Title says all,  I updated recently to the latest uefi using the official installer, no problem there, all works fine within windows, however if i try to boot from an alternative device it fails and i presume it restarts, then loads win10. As i wanted to investigate further, i entered uefi/bios pressing F2 key (i have the Fn disabled) and, after less than 15-20 seconds tops it crashed the uefi interface and rebooted. I disconnected all USB devices from the unit and tried again, to no avail. I will try with the HDMI cable off also, but before there were no issues if the hdmi cable was connected - there was no output to the tv (as i presume that is a function controlled in windows), but no crash either. Furthermore, battery was full and laptop plugged in the power outlet. This is a pretty important bug (hope the term is correct), because if i ever need to restore/reinstall windows i can not boot from usb. Finally, i ran all the tests in the Lenovo Diagnostics app and the result was 0 errors, so i presume the problem can be isolated to the uefi hardware or software. Thanks in advance for the solution.

I just bought my Ideapad, and recently received the subject update to be installed, but it gives me the option to continue or cancel. This confuses me -- since I'm given the choice to install something, do I need to install it or not, and should I always allow these updates to be installed, even though I don't know what is being installed? Thanks for any help/response!

I update the BIOS of my ideapad 720S13IKB to V.6MCN21WW version via Lenovo Vantage today. Then the laptop (maybe the fan) beacomes noisy after booting and when running small apps such as Lenovo Vantage. It used to be very quiet all the time before this BIOS update. What's more, the CPU speed often boosts up to higher than 3.3 GHz, which is crazy as the base speed is only 1.8 GHz, as shown in the attached picture. This is also comes with this BIOS update. I am afraid there is something wrong with the BIOS or my laptop. How can I fix this issue or go back to the earlier BIOS version? Thank you.

Hello and welcome,
I hesitate to suggest this... but you can copy the link to the current BIOS exe and replace the version number with the one you want.  It seems to be there.
My experience is primarily with ThinkPads but it's typical for companion (or system update) offerings to lag what can be manually loaded from the support site.

Hi,UEFI is at the latest Downloadable version but the much older Thunderbolt Firmware from 2017 says the BIOS is not up to date. Why isn't there a working Thunderbolt Firmware Flash tool ... it probably does the version check wrong. Theoretically one could try with a old BIOS, but the Update text states that it is not possible to go below 1.44.Intel Alpine Ridge Thunderbolt Firmware for Windows 10 (64-bit), 8.1 (64-bit), 7 (64-bit) - ThinkPad P50  -- v25This was released on 09 May 2017, so the BIOS at this Time was either 1.39 or 1.40.  The following versions of UEFI BIOS and ECP (Embedded Controller Program) have

I have just received my C340 and activated Lenovo Vantage which found a BIOS update which I ran. It is now running BIOS version 1.6. BUt when I go onto the Lenovo Support page and it automatically and correctly registers my C340, I am informed of a newer version of the BIOS update (2.02). I do not get it. Why is there a newer version here than the version that Lenovo Vantage finds? And what I am supposed to do in a situation like this? Do I ignore that there is a newer version - or do I actually download it and install it? I would like an answer from a Lenovo representative to this issue. Unfortunately, this is not a very good start with this new Lenovo C340 notebook. When I logged in to the support page by Lenovo and it registered the notebook automatically, it also told me that the warranty ran out in 1970. What???! So now I have put in a case for having them correct this. But this is really not a good start

A:Ideapad C340 - just updated BIOS via Lenovo Vantage but a new version available on support page

Hi BlipBlopDK,
Welcome to the Community Forums.
Each machine models have different variants. Not all updates can be applicable for every variants.
With the BIOS, reading the text file first is important doing it manually. If the changes from the older version applies to specific issue you have then you may proceed but if Vantage did not assign it automatically and you do not have any issues then there may not be any need for it.
My warranty is showing incorrect dates and duration? Why is this happening ?
If you had purchased your machine from a retailer, business partner, reseller, Lenovo starts the Base Warranty at the time the shipment was purchased by the retailer, business partner, or reseller from Lenovo. To compensate for the time the computer may have sat in a warehouse or on the shelf unsold, Lenovo generally adds an additional month to the Base Warranty, Lenovo allows date to be adjusted.
Here is the article that you can follow for the steps.
About the warranty date correction, some stores would do it for you while other may not since buyer may have a different user for it aside from the fact that personal information should be kept privately.
I hope this helps answer your query.
