I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

I bought 2 brand new Kingston DataTraveler 8GB USB 3.0 flash drives. The same thing happens with both of them:

I insert the drive into ANY of my 4 usb ports, the computer plays the sound indicating it recognizes a new piece of hardware, the driver install popup appears in the system tray, and then the computer goes to BSOD.

When I reboot the computer (with the drive still inserted), it appears in Device Manager as Kingston 8GB etc., but does not ever appear in Disk Management (i.e. I can't see it to initialize or format it) and it does not ever appear in My Computer.

Pleas help!

It doesnt happen everytime, but most times. Whether powered by battery or AC.

See attached files.

Is Windows 7 . . .
- x86 (32-bit) or x64 ? 32
- the original installed OS on the system? Upgrade from Vista
- an OEM or full retail version? Retail
- OEM = came pre-installed on system. No
- Full Retail = you purchased it from retailer (purchased from coworker)
- What is the age of system (hardware)? 2 yrs
- What is the age of OS installation (have you re-installed the OS?) less than 1 yr

These were caused by your tdrm251.sys which is part of your Acronis try and decide. I would remove or re-install just to test. If re-installed be sure to use the newest version.

- 4 year old computer, used to be vista, upgraded to windows 7

A couple of days ago a BSOD started occuring about every 10 minutes and it seemed to also occur whenever I tried inserting a flash drive. It didn't allow for me to read the warning as it booted after half a second. I tried fixing that by restoring windows to a point in time where it worked, and when that didn't work by reinstalling windows 7 from the disc, because it didn't start windows anymore. That seemed to work for a while, but after a couple of hours it started to occur again.
I thought it might be the temperature, so I used comptemp to check it and then cleaned out the heatsink. That dropped the temperature down from the high seventies celcius to about 60 degrees celcius. Sadly, this didn't fix my BSOD problem so I started browsing the internet for other solutions. I tried Memtest, no results. after loads of failed attempts I finally have reached the point of desperation where I'm willing to make a thread, as I'm truly clueless. Any help would be appreciated.

additional info:
- It didn't occur in safe mode. - now it also occurs in safe mode, but only when starting up programs, I'll try to figure out which.
- I did not install any new software, nor did I add any hardware recently.
- there's a few hundred GB of free space on my hard drive.
- I've ran multiple tests for viruses (avira/avg).
- I'll add more when asked/I think of em

thanks in advance

Hello and welcome Brian mate there is a dump showing a problem with your graphics and the suggested fix is to uninstall the Catalyst Control Centre and install only the device driver ie the GPU you have

You can run '.symfix; .reload' to try to fix the symbol path and load symbols.

My old Dell 8250 was giving out so I thought I would purchase a portable backup drive to use for my pix and music until I could receive my new Dell XPS 435. I purchased a Clickfree portable backup which I just loved, easy as plugging it in and everything was automatic! The problem started when I tried to plug it into any of the usb ports on my new XPS. Vista64 would recognize it, load the drivers and then the BSOD would pop up with a "System Exception Error", with the following text:
I discovered that Clickfree has a download to update for Vista64, so I did that and installed it and still I get the BSOD. My Clickfree WILL work with my neighbor's new Dell with Vista 64. He also had a Clickfree, and when he tried his on my pc, I still got the BSOD. Clickfree tech support will not help me and Dell says that as long as the usb port is working, they can't help me either. What do I need to do to get this Clickfree to work on my pc? All of my pictures, music and docs are on this device!!What is causing this BSOD?

Whenever I launch Firefox Portable v27.0.1 (from PortableApps.com) from a removable SATA-III drive, I get a BSOD with description "BAD_POOL_HEADER", with Bug Check Code = 0x00000019.

This is a week-old Windows 7 Pro 64-bit SP1 installation, with all the most recent Windows Updates, on my new home-built desktop. (See system specs)

Everything runs fine from the main system disk, but Firefox Portable on the removable drive fails. The few other apps I've tried on the removable drive seem to work fine, but I haven't tried very many.

I've run Raxco's PerfectUpdater to check and update all drivers, and now it says there are no newer drivers.

BlueScreenView points to avgntflt.sys, which is part of my Avira AntiVirus suite, but the last time it blamed a USB driver, so it kinda looks like the culprit isn't always the same.

The requested info archive has been uploaded, and is attached. Thanks for your assistance.

Uninstall Avira. At least as a test. Use Microsoft Security Essentials as your antivirus with windows inbuilt firewall, and free MBAM as the on demand scanner.

Download, install and update those, and then run full system scans with both of them, one by one; for a security reason, as the installed antivirus failed.

Whenever i insert a dvd into my dvd drive my pc freezes, and then bsod happens. It has only started happening yesterday and its the same result with all dvd's i have tried so far. If i cause the bsod to appear too many times my computer becomes totally unable to start up(it reboots at the welcome screen when windows is loading) and even safemode doesn't work. So basically i need help in fixing my dvd drive(i know it is the dvd drives fault because i ended up having to reformat and same error appears so i disconnected dvd drive for now)

A:Inserting DVD causes BSOD

If the BSOD doesn't happen at all when you have your dvd drive disconnected, then:

1. Try a different IDE cable.
2. Replace your dvd drive (it could be faulty).

Hi.Whenever I put a CD (it ONLY happens with CD, not DVD...) in to my computer, and iTunes is open, I get a BSOD. I didnt end up taking a photo of the bluescreen as my camera batteries are charging, but I have the error code form the event viewer.Error code 100000d1, parameter1 ffffffff, parameter2 00000002, parameter3 00000000, parameter4 ffffffff. It seems this issue only happens with iTunes, because once my computer restarts after the BSOD, I don't get another one, unless I open up iTunes and try to play the CD. But, if I don't open up iTunes and use WMP, I have no issue. I can listen and rip CDs perfectly. This isn't a recent issue, I've had it for a while, but I'm only deciding to do something about it now I'm pretty set on this being an issue with iTunes, so I'm thinking of uninstalling and reinstalling the newest version of iTunes. But, I wanna see what the experts have to say first

Hi. Everytime I insert a blank CD or DVD into my DVD drive, my computer blue screens. It's not instantaneous, more like it attempts to read the disc, but then it crashes. When I restart the computer, Windows will load, I'll sign into my account, things will seem to start up like normal, but then it blue screens again, and it will repeat this process until I take out the blank disc. The drive will read audio CDs, movies, data discs, and games just fine. I can also burn data to CD/DVD RW's just fine if there is already data on them. Here's some system info: (if you need more just ask)

DVD Drive: Pioneer DVD-RW DVR-110D
Firmware: 1.41
OS: Windows XP Home SP2

Any ideas? I can provide you with some of the stop errors if you wish, they won't be hard to get, heh. This has been the umpteenth forum I've tried to get help on, to no avail. So let's see if you guys/gals can solve this problem for me .

Hello, i'm having some trouble with my dvd drive. I've searched the forums and googled it, and found some similar problems but no solution worked.

I have an ASUS B85M-G motherboard, with a 120GB SSD that has the OS and works perfectly, a samsung HDD 750gb sata2 that dissapeared ONCE and my sata2 DVD drive that disappears whenever I insert a disk.

If i go to device manager and search for new hardware, the drive comes up and works perfectly (if it has the dvd i want already on it) but disappears again when i change the disk, and sometimes just when i take out a disk.

I've tried deleting the upper and lower filter registry keys, reinstalling the drivers (just found 2 that applied: HL-DT-ST DVDRAM GH24NS90 ATA Device (which is installed automatically) and CD-DVD ROM which i select from the drivers list). I've tried using a different SATA cable and a different SATA port.

It seems incredibly strange that it disappears upon inserting a cd or dvd, but works perfectly if i "rediscover" it from the device manager.

Well, that's it folks, thanks in advance for any help.

About two weeks ago I started getting the BSOD when I plugged in my Kindle to charge via the USB on my laptop. Never happened before.

I have tried plugging in the USB stick in Safemode and the same thing happens. The error always points to Partition Manager driver "partmgr.sys"

This also happens with my SD Cruzer USB Stick. Today I noticed this does not happen to a FAT formatted USB stick but only the NTFS formatted one.

I had installed some software around the time called Calibre, which I have uninstalled but am still getting the same issue.

I have uploaded the logs from the dump file and if anyone can help I would be most grateful.

Have a good new year an many thanks in advance!

Hi and welcome to SF .

The issue appears to be originating from a per-bundled encryption software that was installed
with your HP bloatware, but it is originally from McAfee.

When inserting a blank CD or DVD in the DVD re-writer of my desktop, I get a BSOD with stop code:
0x0000008E (0xC0000005, 0x806D2753, 0xEE8A111C, 0x00000000)
There is no driver mentioned after the stop code.

This problem does not happen with all CDs or DVDs. I have bought several brands:TDK, Verbatim, Maxwell.
The problem happens with all of these brands, but is intermittent. Within the same pack, some disks would cause a BSOD, some won't. Though those that do cause one always do...

I changed the DVD re-writer 3 times and have seen the problem with each:
- First I had an internal LG IDE
- Then an internal Sony SATA
- Now I have an external HP dvd1040

The problem started a few months ago when the original DVD re-writer that came with my computer (bought 4 years ago) stopped working.
I changed it for the LG and started getting the BSOD on some disks...

My system:
- AMD Atlon 64 Processor 3500+
- Mother board: ASUS A8NE-FM
- XP Home Edition SP3

I also have a laptop that works perfectly well with the disks causing the BSOD on the desktop.

I have scanned all disks for viruses, trojans and malware. Nothing harmful detected - a few potential threats which I deleted.
I ran a Memtest on the desktop: no errors.
I had also added a couple of HDDs over the years. I read somewhere that code 0x0000008E could be caused by insufficient power so I removed the HDDs
I am running Kapersky AV. I stopped it and checked...
Everytime, the problem has re-occurred... Read more

A:[SOLVED] BSOD when inserting disk

Did the LG come with any driver or software disk? This sounds like it's driver related though the fact that it mentions no driver in the BSOD makes me unsure. What kind of burning software do you use? Does it happen with only blank cds/dvds or also audio cds or game/movie dvds?

My father is having issues when inserting a DVD or CD into either of his Samsung DV Rom SD-616E drive or his Philips DVD+-RW DVD8631 drive. Both cause a BSOD with a stop error code of BAD_POOL_HEADER 0x00000019 (0x00000020, 0x8888E618, 0x8888E630, 0x1A030001) a few seconds after a valid data CD or DVD is inserted (confirmed valid on a second computer). Video DVDs do not appear to have any issues.

The event viewer does not offer any salient error logs for subsequent attempts at inserting a data DVD but the initial occurrence gave roughly 15 logs of:Error code: 7
The device, \Device\CdRom1, has a bad block.
He is using Windows XP Pro w/SP3, 512Mb RAM with Norton Security Suite v4.3.0.5 as Firewall and Anti-Virus protection with the latest anti-virus definitions.

Additional potential clues include a recent update to Adobe Flash Player and within the past 2 weeks at least he says after boot up that programs take a considerable amount of time to launch (up to a minute for Outlook Express to even open as well as Internet Explorer).

I highly doubt that it is a hardware issue since it occurs on both of his drives. Likewise for cleaning the actual ROM drives or the DVD disks. Any ideas on where to go from here with troubleshooting?

A:[SOLVED] BSOD when inserting SD card

http://www.carrona.org/drivers/driver.php?id=tdrpm251.sys, your Acronis True Image driver, is the main suspect.

Remove Acronis to test.

Problems may also be caused by the following driver:

SFEP.sys Thu Aug 2 23:35:53 2007 (46B2BEB9)
Sony Firmware Extension Parser driver

Update your Sony Firmware Extension Parser driver from here: Sony eSupport - VPCF232FX/B - Drivers & Software

That is not your model, but the SFEP driver is the same for all VPCF systems. It should provide more stability with your SD cards.

I also recommend you update/replace/remove the following drivers:

nusb3xhc.sys Thu Dec 9 21:50:35 2010 (4D01B19B)
NEC Electronics USB 3.0 Host Controller Driver (previous BSOD issues with 2010 version)

nusb3hub.sys Thu Dec 9 21:50:35 2010 (4D01B19B)
NEC Electronics USB 3.0 Host Controller Driver (previous BSOD issues with 2010 version)

You can get the driver updates from: Sony eSupport - VPCF22CFX/B - Drivers & Software

3rd Party Drivers: The following is for information purposes only. My recommendations were given above. The drivers that follow belong to software or devices that were not developed by Microsoft. Any drivers in red should be updated/replaced/removed. You can find li... Read more

We had a brand new machine installed and when inserting images into indesign, this caused BSOD. After looking at the report it looked like Avast was causing the issue, so we uninstalled avast and updated graphics driver.

The issue did not occur after that until now. (2 months on)

Graphics is up to date and avast is not installed.

When we insert image onto in deisgn we receive bsod error. If we copy and paste, then it is fine.

I Believe this is cause by "ntoskrnl" ? but would appreciate any assistance.

Please see attached ZIP.

Hello Anyone, Does anyone have an idea of what could be wrong with my T430?  I just purchased a 1 TB drive and secondary bay for my Lenovo.  The computer was running great.  I shut it down and ejected my DVD drive.  I then slid in the new drive expecting to be able to format the new drive.  This never happened since the machine will no longer power up at all.  I get no lights or sounds of any kind.  I have tried another power supply, taken off the battery, held the power button for 20-30 seconds, and even unplugged and reattached the CMOS battery.  It is still dead as a "doornail".   HELP! Any suggestions would be helpful - arc2mi

Hi All,

I have been building my own machines for as long as I can remember and since upgrading to Windows 10 last year all was fine until I tried burning a few disk to archive.

When inserting any writeable DVD-R, CD-R, or BR-R into the optical drive the system is stalling and then crashing.
After checking this via Task Manager and Resource Manager the OS Drive, in my case C:\ is maxing out at 100% Disk usage.
There is no process running as it appears that the OS is trying to read the disk yet after about 10 seconds the system stops responding and eventually system halts and I have to manually restart.

Attempts to Resolve:
Clean install of Windows 10 Pro - 64Bit
Different Optical Drive used (all same results)
Only OS drive and Optical drives activated
Open writeable disk with Windows only and Nero 2014, both same results.

I have also looked into the registry of windows and drive cache'ing.
Also, when I burnt last with success it was with Windows 8.1 Pro 64Bit.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated as I've only found 100% disk usage with registry fixes which don't relate to inserting writeable disk causing the 100% usage.

Thanks in advance!

Ok first my setup:

Gateway P-6860FX Laptop
Vista Home Premium x64
4-port powered USB hub
1TB WD External USB HDD
Blackberry Curve 8320 w/ storage mode enabled
USB mouse
USB keyboard

Second, my problem.

When I insert a flash drive into the laptop's usb port, Vista stops responding. Everything freezes. The instant I pull the flash drive out, everything pops back into action and unfreezes immediately. I'm not sure if its due to the number of devices I have plugged in but I don't see why. The problem isn't the flash drive itself because I plugged in another cell phone that has a 1GB micro SD card with storage mode enabled and it does the same thing there.

Today, as soon as I inserted Reliance Netconnect+ (wireless broadband) USB dongle into my laptop's USB port, the OS started installing some drivers. Within a few seconds, I saw a Blue screen of Death.

I tried the following settings to resolve it but to no avail:

1. Updated BIOS.. now my BIOS version is 1.37 as seen in the setup menu.

2. disabled wireless adapters and bluetooth

3. In device manager, I checked the "Allow to switch off the USB device to save power" for all he USB root hubs.

Please help me in resolving the issue. Would be very grateful.

I just got a new Inspiron 7347 and inserted a flash drive of saved files from a computer that was possibly infected. There was a back up file on the flash drive and when I clicked on it, windows started to do its own and saved a bunch of files on drive D. It was displaying features from the previous infected computer. There is a shortcut to the flash drive that i didn't create and if i click on properties, it shows the shortcut screen but I am not able to get into the other tabs.
I'm not the most computer savvy person and want to be sure there is nothing going on before I proceed.

BSOD occurs every once in a while. It's become more frequent in the past week, totaling two times. I read somewhere that unplugging USBs while shutting down might be apart of the problem, so I've come to the conclusion that it is the problem because none of the other causes... fit.

Almost every time I power down the computer the sound comes on that signals that inserting/unplugging of an external device. If you don't understand what sound I'm talking about, it's like that... "duh-nuh" sound you hear when you plug in an iPod, a camera, a USB, or something of the sort. Anyway, I always unplug my iPod before I shut down the computer because I've been trying to stop this issue (it's been scaring the hell out of me). However, shortly after I started making sure I did that that sound occurs everytime before shut down.

Help, please? All answers are appreciated.

two computers in the same room are involved (i'll call them pc-1 and pc-2)
they're connected to the same modem but otherwise not connectedcourse of events as follows:
i run some .exe that is obviously meant to infect my computer (but i do it on someone's recommendation and don't think); momentarily i receive a panda notification - i do a hard reset & unplug lan; after booting i try to see what's going on and look into processes and installed programs and i see new fuzzy creatures; at first, i angrily start deleting stuff by hand but eventually stop and turn on mbam
i run mbam and panda scans and there are positives (i can submit it); second scan, third reboot - there are 0 positives in both
i also run gmer, tdsskiller and malwarebytes anti-rootkit
- i'm incapable to interpret gmer results but superficially, after some googling, they didn't seem problematic (submitted below)
- tdsskiller: 0 positives
- malwarebytes anti-rootkit: when it finishes it closes (tried several times; ran it from desktop) and i don't get an opportunity to see the results in the program, but it created a log that seemed kinda normal to me (i can post it too)
*everything works fine on this machine*
at some point, i unplug a usb flash drive that was there more or less the whole time (forgot to remove it)
i absentmindedly plug that flash drive into pc-2 and move a file from it to hd; then i remove the flash drive

I have a consistent problem.

After I insert either a game CD or DVD into my DVD-RW drive, I get a Blue Screen of Death. I have turned off Auto Insert Notification on my DVD drive, but this did not fix the problem.

However, if I insert a music CD into the DVD drive, everything goes along just fine without any Blue Screen.

If I start up my computer with a game CD or DVD already in the drive, I do not get a blue screen when I open up the game or DVD from the drive within My Computer. I only get the Blue Screen of Death after I open the DVD drive, insert the game CD or DVD, and the drive closes.

The STOP error code in the Blue Screen of Death only gives me the following line:

STOP: 0x000000C5 (0xE1043000,0x00000002,0x00000001,0x8054AD6E)

I have attached the actual Blue Screen of Death snapshot to this message.

Any help would greatly be appreciated.

My Dell Inspiron 3847 has lately responded more slowly to inserting a CD in its optical drive.  ("DVD RW Drive (E:)" displays more slowly in File Explorer after inserting a CD in the optical drive, and splash screens for some CDs don't display for several minutes.)

Can someone say what the range of time normally is after inserting a CD in the optical drive?

A:response of Dell Inspiron 3847 optical drive -- to inserting a CD

It should only be a few seconds from when the CD drawer closes till the OS recognizes it and you can access the CD.  Have you run any antivirus or antimalware programs to check for those things?  Are you missing any updates from Windows Update?

It started yesterday. When I got a Flash disk from my friend the computer displayed blue screen when I inserted it into a USB port. After the reboot the situation reoccured but then without the presence of the USB.
Later it happened when I used my own Flash disk. And yet another time when I wasn't doing anything at all, just browsing the internet with Firefox.

I tried inserting the USB a few times later, but it worked.

I've run memtest around 10 times and there were no errors. I also tried IntelBurnTest and it completed successfully.

I have a Compaq ARMADA 4131T laptop that I want to add a IBM Travel star I.D.E. drve to. The motherboard has an 'AMP' 50 pin male plug on it to connect to the hard drive but an I.D.E. H.D. has only 44 pins. I have checked the open voltages on each pin and also the voltages under load to check which are signal and which are power but they do not correspond to the electrical interface specification for I.D.E. connections. Compaq confirm that the motherboard pin outs are not S.C.S.I. although they cannot give me any more information. If no one can give me any fixes can they suggest where I might look on the web for help.

A:Portable I.D.E. drive

Just plug it in and go. A 2.5 " drive is designed for a laptop and all the interfaces are the same and standard. The pinputs are indeed IDE except the cable from the motherboard also supplies the power to the hard drive.
