Mother board battery replacement procedure?

Q: Mother board battery replacement procedure?

What is the correct procedure for replacing the MB battery? Power off? etc. I have a alton m760v MB that reverts back to cmos defaults after being unplugged for a couple of days. Is this normal, I have 2 that do the same thing. Old batteries ?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

A: Mother board battery replacement procedure?

CMOS should only reset if there is something wrong, or if a battery is bad.

Replacing it is just as you said - unplug power, take out the old one, put in the new one.

Last night I tried to replace the mother board on my Dell Inspiron 5000e laptop. I bought the replacement part from an Ebay store, and it is still under warranty (90 days). After taking apart my entire laptop and putting the whole thing back together--a job that took my friend and I three hours--we plugged it in for the moment of truth. The battery light came on, so far so good. Then we hit the power button and...nothing happened. Well almost nothing. The machine appeared to turn on. All three lights on the the bottom of the LCD went on, but that's it. The fan didn't start, the monitor didn't start. The hard drive light was on but didn't appear to be reading at all. (i.e. no blinking or noise.) I'm quite perplexed. Everything appeared to go back together perfectly with the possible exception of the diskette drive cable clip, which we weren't exactly sure whether to put back in over, under, or through the disk drive data cable. We eventually put it through. For instructions and pictures of the process, check out link:

http://support.dell.com/support/edocs/systems/pblan/removing.htm

Everything else seemed to go back together seemlessly. We were very careful with screws and put all the right sizes back into their correct places. What could be causing this? Have I received a defective part? Are there any other explanations? I suppose a possible explanation is that the processor and/or video board are not quite connected correctly, but they seemed t... A local computer repair shop is the best bet, but for a computer that old, it will probably cost more than it is worth.  Best option is to salvage the data from the hard drive onto a working PC.  Easiest way to do that is to remove the hard drive from the old Pavilion A6400 and connect it to a working PC.  If it is just to retrieve the data, an adapter similar to this will work nicelyhttps://www.amazon.com/AGPtek-Drive-Adapter-Converter-External/dp/B00BIE996S/ref=pd_sim_147_2?_encod...

I don't think the model will matter, however, mine is a Pavilion Slimline s5510f. With thanks from this forum, I have determined that I need to replace my mother board.  I have found HP support documentation on how to replace the mother board, but that leaves the question as to whether I have to do any type of programming of the new mother board or is the MB more or less a plug and play? Thanks for any help.

A:mother board replacement and programming?

Hi, Actually you can't do anything with motherboard (only updating BIOS which is still in the hands of vendors). What you see is what you get or using your terms: it is a plug-and-play part. Regards.

You will most likely end up replacing everything except the case. Any ATX or mini-ATX board should fit. How many PCI slots do you have now? 3? The power supply should be changed while your at it... Just deside what processor and memory you want to use, and select a motherboard that will run it.

Here is the Manual: Service Manual There are 4 different AMD motherboard depending on if you have the A8 processor or the A6 and Windows Standard or Pro. Get the same Windows version as you have or you will have to buy another copy of Windows. Your hard drive installation of Windows will not activate unless you install a motherboard set up for the same OS version. Post back if you need a more detailed explanation. Yours is a CTO laptop so we cannot just look up your original factory specs. You can interchange the A6 and A8 version of the motherboard with the caveat stated above. The Manual shows the "how-to" on replacement. Assuming you have the A8 and Windows Standard this is the part number: 769075-501 This is it on US amazon.com for $109 which is a pretty fair price: https://www.amazon.com/HP-Pavilion-Convertible-Motherboard-769075-501/dp/B0118AZL1S/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UT... Post back with any more questions.  If this is "the Answer" please click "Accept as Solution" to help others find it.

Hello people, I really have a big problem. My computer windows xp started forgetting things like date and time. So, I decided to change the battery located in the mother board. I turned off my computer, I unplugged power cable, I went to the store and bought an identical battery. I came back home and I installed the new battery and I plugged all cables and I started my computer but I did not hear any beeps, those you hear when the system is booting, and even worse, I could not see any data in my monitor just a message from the monitor that cable is not plugged. So I tried a different monitor but i did not succeed. I bought a New graphic card but it did not work neither.

Please, i need your help. Any other ideas or suggestions to solve my problem

A:AC adapter is damaged along with battery and mother board. C...

Ferngari95 Hello;Allow me to welcome you to the HP forums! While these parts, most likely, CAN be replaced -- the real issue is the cost involved, because not only would you have to pay for the parts (since the Warranty does not cover accidental damage), you would also need to have this done at an HP Certified Service Center and pay them for labor: to diagnose the problem, disassemble the laptop, replace the broken parts, reassemble the laptop, run diagnostics again. The total cost of this work, the parts, and the shipping involved might easily exceed the cost of replacing the laptop. You should see if you can get a cost estimate from one of the Service Centers:  http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c00372730?jumpid=reg_r1002_usen_c-001_title_r0004Good Luck

My wife told me that her computer just turned off. I came home and found out that the power cord had a short in it and I replaced it. I tried to turn it back on and it started to boot up and then it turned back off. I tried again with the same results. I tried it with the power cord disconnected, with the battey (and the battery will not hold a charge long), still the same thing. I took the battery from my computer which is the same as hers, and it booted back up. If you turn it off and try to boot it up it will turn off after the windows logo. note: I just put a new motherboard in this computer about a week and half ago. I removed the memory one at a time and then it started to boot up, screen went black and then a short blue screen and looped back to start up. don't know if it is the motherboard or not, one thing I did notice, with the computer off the charge light isn't lit up at all. The power supply light at the plug is blue but no charge light. When the computer is up and running, in the systems tray you can see that the indicator shows power plugged in and charge indicated but still no blue charge light. I have a HP dv2171 with a AMD prossessor. Can anyone help me?

I have a yoga 260 that would not charge the battery when plugged in. I tried a different charger which didn't work and then replaced the battery but also no luck. I sent it to Lenovo and was told I need a new system board which was going to cost around that of a newer laptop. I decided to replace it myself with a refurbished board as I've done this on an old computer in the past. With the install complete it can get some charge to the board because it tries to start up but I am getting 2 short beeps with nothing on the screen. I realize this usually means there is a system board issue. I've rechecked all the connections and everything 4x so I don't think it was an install problem. Is there something else I need to do or did I just buy a bad refurbished board?

One problem that has me perplexed . When a customers motherboard goes down , it means reformatting and re-installing XP. Of course all my customer info is gone. If you try to boot up With the new motherboard XP will not load. It launches a critical error and says the boot sector has a virus. I know that XP has this built in to prevent it from being installed on several different computers . This anti-piracy is based upon motherboards bios.

I will not build a computer with pirated software but when the legal owner of the PC and the software needs his computer fixed he should not have to lose all his info. This is when I miss 98 , ME. Under those most computers it was replace motherboard and after several reboots you were all ready to go with all your data intact.

has anybody come up with a work around for this ?

Hello,
I am wanting to get a new mother board, to use with the AMD XP 1700 or greater processor. I am wanting to sue RDRam. However all I see is DDRAM boards. Is DD and RD Ram the same thing??? If a mother board supports DDRam will it also support RDRam???
Is there any reomendation for a mother board that will use RDRam and the AMD chip???

Thanks,

Bear

A:Mother Board

Currently, there are no motherboards or chipsets that support RDRAM with AMD processors. It could be a possiblity in the future.

RDRAM and DDR RAM are not at all the same thing. They are two different types of memory. None of the memory types are interchangeable. A particular memory slot can only accept one type of memory. Some motherboards support two different types of memory, but they have separate slots for each type, and you can only use memory sticks of one type. You cannot use both types at one time.

I have 5 fans in it, to keep it cool, one is on the supply, two in front, and two in the rear of the box. I need all the extras like a few extra bus 2.0, and firewire connector 1394. Dual core, I guess, Thanks I've tried everything to make this go faster. The only thing I have in the start up is my AVG free. That's what takes the longest to load at boot up. DDR3 comes with high clocks but also with price and high latency. So, high quality DDR2 would(COULD in some occasions) still outdo DDR3. To a point, latencies can determine the performance more than clocks.

You can download sisoftsandra from http://www.tweakfiles.com It will identify some motherboards or else the hard way. Look at it and find the manufacturers make and model or the fcc number. The fcc number is generally located right around the dimm slots.

or you can try ctbios, it will read the bios rom's and report what is there. http://www.windrivers.com/identity/mboard/biosid.htm

My computer i have rightnow is a HP T6212 and its around 7 years old at its to the point were it cant do anything right with out random performance drops so were going to get either a new computer or build on. Ive told my mother that building would save atleast 100 dollar. Now my problem is i need a mother board that can take 4 GB of ram (DDR SDRAM) and we dont need more then 125gb memory, the computer we hae right now has 145gb, and only 30gb are used :/ so i think we an save money froom haveing les mem. I plan on playing Mabinoig, combat arms, Dragons nest,Vindictus, mincraft, and my sister plans on playing Sims 3, all of this on my computer, and being able to record videos like minecraft. on top of that the normal flash games. this is like 10-15 mb of space, not much so alota space isnt needed, but a fast enough mother board is needed.
Also what is a good enough graphics card to play these games, they arent high end graphics and i dont need high end either. so yeah name em please and make em cheap

A:Mother board
