Q: Plextor web site unavailable for 1 wk plus

Need help on new Plextor CD/R. Plextor site unavaible. Can you suggest source? Specifically:

I have mp3 files on my hard drive and I have just installed a Plextor 12/4/32 CDR/CDRW. On clicking the load playlist button it is necessary to add mp3 or *.* to the file name field (only .ppl is listed) in order to visualize the m93 files stored or my hard drive. After selecting a file, neither clicking the add button nor dragging the file to the playlist will add the file to the play list. I will appreciate advice. Thank You. Garrison Watts

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

We have an Internet Explorer issue with our secure web site, when trying to save a file (excel report), we get the following message:

"Internet Explorer cannot download SaveToFile.aspx from secure.allvoiceusa.com.
Internet Explorer was not able to open this Internet site. The requested site is either unavailable or cannot be found. Please try again later."

We are using IE8, and I have tried several suggestions from the internet, such as enabling the "Do Not Save Encrypted Pages to Disk" security setting in IE, and deleting the "Index.DAT" from the Documents & Settings.

The odd thing is that this feature worked fine up until about a week ago. Now, anyone using IE gets this error message when trying to save their report. But it still works with Mozilla FireFox.

Anyone know what might be causing this problem?

A:my graphic driver is unavailable in hp site for drivers

Hi: What that means is that HP does not completely support your notebook for W10. There is no W10 graphics driver for the Intel/AMD switchable graphics your notebook has. The only suggestion I can offer would be to try the W8.1 AMD graphics driver from your notebook's support page and hope that it works.

Okay i have a plextor 52x32x52 premium and it has this gay thing called power record i tryed disabling it with plextor's program but it just keeps coming back on and it's making it so i can't burn cd's over 40x when i should be able to burn em at 52x my friend has lite on with same cd's burning them at 52x so i know it's not my disc it's just that damn power record crap any help would be apprciated.
Kyle

A:Plextor!

Power Record is a protection to prevent write errors. It will only write at the highest speed it can without errors. I would not try to disable it. The time difference recording between 52x and 40 x is measured most likely in seconds. Because your friend can write the same disks at 52x means little if the drive he is using is not identical. Personally I prefer to write a slightly slower speed to prevent buffer under writes and making coasters.

A:Plextor 716a

Most likely, your drive doesn't support the disc that you're trying to record.
I used to get these types of errors when I try to record Platinum 8x DVD-R discs on my Sony DRU-500 drive - which is why I looked forward to the Plextor 716.

When the Plextor 716 got released, there were various reports that it didn't perform too well, which was pretty disappointing given Plextor's reputation. Apparently, the drive was hurried to the marketplace, and Plextor didn't have the nerve to postpone its release until it could sufficiently assure its quality.

Since the initial release, however, Plextor has been working hard to improve the device; I bought one some three weeks ago, and it works great.

Your best option is to download and install the latest firmware for the drive - currently, version 1.06, which can be found here; or, there's an unofficial, hacked, patched, region-free (a.k.a. "RPC-1") version there.

If you don't know what your current firmware version is, and if you don't know how to find out, then you may use the excellent and very small DriveInfo utility - it will show you the firmware version and region status of your drive.

Hi,
Just installed a Plextor 712A DVD R/RW and can't get it to read a DVD but it will play CD music.
I replaced the DVD ROM that came with the computer, using the Master, Cable Select settings,(did change the jumper). The slave is a CD R/W.
Plextor tech support told me to:
"In Device Manager, your drive's ide channel should be set to UDMA2 or 4 and Use DMA if Available."
I can't see how I can change those settings, the drive is under a different icon than the ide channels. How do I do this?
Any ideas on getting the burner to work. My wife is already regretting giving me this for Christmas.

Guys -
Need some help here. I was messing around and wanted to try another free dvd/cdrom burning software and when I loaded it, it caused a bsod with some driver error. I promptly uninstalled the software in safe mode and for some reason my drive doesn't reconize DVD's. I've tried my own dvd-r cd's that I burn't with this drive and real movies from my collection and it will just blink orange like it doesn't see it. It will read regular CD/CDR discs. I've upgraded the firmware and also uninstalled it from the device manager. Still no help. Any thoughts would be awesome.

Strange problem this, one which has had me confused for a good few weeks. Anyway, I have a Plextor 16/10/40A attached to a Gigabyte GA-71XEH. The problem occurs in the following way:

When turning the computer on, the hard disk drive and the dvd rom drive are found first time by the bios. However, the plextor drive simply flashes repeatedly and is not found by the bios on first boot and thus does not appear in windows.

Pressing reset enables the bios to find the drive on the second boot. Any ideas?

Oh and the drive will not flash with the new bios file on the plextor website. No problems with the drive though in any other respect.

A:Problem with new Plextor

Try this:

Right-click My Computer, and choose Properties. Click the Hardware tab, then click the Device Manager button. Double-click the DVD/CD-ROM drives section, then double-click the Plextor drive (if that the DVD player with the problem), and choose the Properties tab.

Check the settings for the CD Player Volume (which should be all the way to the right), then check the setting for Digital Audio Playback. Click in the box to enable the digital audio feature of the drive; if that setting is not enabled, you'll need to install an analog audio cable from the back of the DVD drive to the AUDIO IN connector on the motherboard, which will carry the signal to the soundchip for processing.

While you're working in the Device Manager, you might as well check the status of your other optical drive, so you can compare it to the Plextor drive.

FWIW, it isn't possible to use optical drives in a RAID array; by definition, RAID applies only to harddrives.

Keep us posted...

Hey...

Not sure if this is the right forum...but here goes.

My mixing & mastering engineer friends tell me that the Plextor Premium is the CD-R/RW drive of choice for burning pre-master CD-A's to be used for replication. My replication house basically confirms this; & even uses Plextor drives in their OTA's (Optical Transport Assembly.)

Plextor no longer mfg.'s the Premium as an external unit, which is the unit I wanted. They're telling me that their newer DVD/CD combo units offer all the advantages of their legendary CD-RW drives.

To me (from what I know...which is somewhat limited), the lasers are implemented differently in a combo drive (in regard to the CD burn.)

Is this true? Should I go with a combi drive? If I do...does it burn as accurately as a purely CD-R/RW drive.

The reason I ask is...various ME's have tested the Plextor Premium's up against other drives; & the burned disks have a much lower error rate. In addition, the Plextor drives come packaged with PlexTools software, which is super accurate for error rates checking on a burned disk.

Should I get the combo drive, or look for a Premium on e-bay?

Thanks,

mark4man
BTW - Plextor still mfg.'s the internal Premium CD-RW...but I've always been a bit leery of burning in the box.

A:Plextor Premium CD-RW vs. DVD-R/CD-R

I have a combo drive on my laptop and it works great, I don't know what the fatest burn rate on a combo drive would be, but mine can go up to 24x....I think, and never had a cd that I burned have errors on it except if I scratch it, but then again people sometimes have a tendency of accidents. If I were you, try doing some research on both of them cause spending money on a plextor cd-rw is expensive unless u plan to use it daily to burn things and also, a combo drive offers the portion of running dvd's

It's up to you, but the pros and cons to me are close for both the combo drive and plextor cd-rw.
Cheers

Back in Nov. I purchased a Plextor PX 712 DVD drive. There was a $30 rebate so I got the rebate form and sent it off. Two days later I realized that I hadn't written in the SN. of the drive,so I made a copy of my copy of the rebate form, wrote in the SN , and wrote a short note explaining what happened. The first form had the UPC code attached and the second form only had a scanned copy. After about 8 weeks I received a post card saying that the form didn't have the UPC attached. Well of course there was no mention of the original form with the UPC code attached. I know that it was a mistake on my part ,but I feel they are playing dirty ,and taking advantage of the situation. So my friends be careful if you want your rebates.

If not, how do I make it talk to the laptop, and where can I get the drivers for it? I could not find the driver on the Plextor download site.

Cjet,

Does it have connectors for both SCSI and Parallel on the drive?
If it is a SCSI drive it probably came with a SCSI card.
If it is a parallel connection then you probably just need a driver for it.

Hi,
I have four computers all running Win XP Professional with the latest updates and connected to a D-Link D714P+ router/print-server.
I'm trying to add an external hard disk, Plextor PX-EH, to a free LAN port on the router. Seems to work fine, and I can access the PX-EH from the computers by typing PX-EH into my web-browser.
However, I'm supposed to properly use the PX-EH by making it show up as a computer under My Network Places
Here's what the manual says:
"1 Click Start, and right-click My Network Places, and then click Search for Computers.
2 Enter PX‑EH under Computer name:, and then click the Search button.
3 Double-click PX‑EH series (PX‑EH), which will be displayed as a result of search.
[THIS IS WHAT DOES NOT HAPPEN: I get "not found"]
4 Double-click the disk folder.
The usable PX‑EH folder will open. When a file is copied to this window, it will be saved in the PX‑EH.
Once the icon is displayed correctly, you can use the PX‑EH as a network folder."

Any suggestions, please?

Every time I remove the offending device and re-boot to reinstall it, the same message shows up. Why am I having problems with the secondary IDE, and what might I try to correct this problem? I have to have the secondary functioning properly to use all my devices. I'd appreciate any ideas! Thanx!

A week ago I bought this new Plextor drive and downloaded the latest firmware to make sure I had the latest combination. Installation went OK, but the drive was as good as dead. It would not read any disk. Tech support responded right away and asked for the pattern of flashing lights emitted by its diagnostic system. I sent back an e-mail, stating that it would not eject, and the pattern was a series of three amber lights, about 1/2 sec. apart. Three days later they responded and said they would give me an RMA number. However, I lost patience and returned the drive to Best Buy for full refund. I bought a Sony DRU720A; installation went smoothly, it read a few disks well (but I haven't tried much with it) and I am hoping for the best. After reading many, many reviews, I have concluded that there is a gamble in buying any of these advanced products. Let's face it: we are all the Guinea pigs of these huge companies, which are usually too eager to rush products to market. First of all, the drive may or may not work out of the box. Second, if it is not dead, will it do all it's supposed to do? Caveat empor!

I went to plextors site and I don't see any drivers for this drive. If I read it right, it says that windows provides the driver.
Any ideas on where to go from here?

(have a cd burner, and a px-760a dvd burner in a xps400 system at 2.8ghz, intel, pent(r)d,3.00gbmemory,xpprosp3...)

px-760a will not burn an avi file sometimes reads cds and dvds....

dvd burner kept given errors after a previous reformat of pc, so i took it out. recently put it back in after another reformat to mess with it.
still will not burn an avi file, get errors with 1clickdvd movie, which is what ive always used for this operation with no problems.

all i know is both burners are installed correctly, black for plextor, greyish middle for the cd burner, plextor jumper is master(3rd pin), cd is slave (2nd pin). have seperate for harddrive. firmware is updated. even tried to have plextor as cable instead of master...no difference noticed. no help from plextor , guess they usta have a way to test if it was working properly, but cant do that no more... any suggestions on a way to see if the burner is no good or i messed something up in puter?
also have nero 6 or something in here, the info tool suggests all is fine. device manager confusing from other posts i read, under IDE/ATA/ATAPI controllers it lists:3 items, intel ultra ata, intel sata ahci, then primary ide which shows whatever it is as dma, my dvd and cd are listed under dvd and cd rom area.

surely appreciate any help

A:help plextor issue, dont know much!

If you have access to another computer, you could install the plextor in that and see if it gives the same problems. If it does then it is a pretty good bet that the drive is bad. Plextor drives are pretty good drives, but they do not last for ever, just like other brands. How old is the plextor? (although even brand new can go bad right away.

I recently installed a Plextor PX-716A CD/DVD-RW drive in a home built computer, having an issue.

Specs, via PCWizard:

Mainboard : MSI Gamila/Giovani/Neon series
Chipset : Intel i845G
Processor : Intel Pentium 4 @ 2500 MHz
Physical Memory : 1024 MB (2 x 512 DDR-SDRAM )
Video Card : NVIDIA GeForce FX 5500
Network Card : Intel Corporation 82550/1/7/8/9 EtherExpress PRO/100(B) Ethernet Adapter
Network Card : Realtek Semiconductor RT8139 (A/B/C/810x/813x/C+) Fast Ethernet Adapter
Operating System : Microsoft Windows XP Professional 5.01.2600 Service Pack 2
DirectX : Version 9.0c (December 2007)

Drive specs via PCWizard:
Disk Type : CD-Rom Data
Peripheral Type : ATAPI
Model : PLEXTOR DVDR PX-716A
Recordable : No (This is incorrect. It is labeled as a burner all over the drive)

Here's the problem.
At first, I couldn't get it to read any disks at all, not one.
It would spit out an error: "Error: Incorrect function."
So, then I went looking for upgrades. Found firmware version 5.1.2535.0 (I believe that's the firmware version... *sigh*...)

Anyway, I got it to read the CD-ROM for Command & Conquer: Red Alert 2
I thought "YAY! I've got it beat!" Then I went to insert a CD-R disk to back up some text files that I seriously can't afford to lose. It spun, and spun, and spun. I tried to open the drive properties, nada. Double clicked the drive... and had to pull the disk and restart explorer, because it seriously locked up.

So, I to... Read more

i have a plextor px-712a dvd burner on a 2.8 ghz p4 with 1gig of ddr ram; plenty of hd space and all defragged and i use nero ultra 6 for a while now.

well in the last couple of days i suddenly get weird problems and i'm not sure if it's the plextor itself or my pc or the media (unlikely the media since i have tried it on 2 kinds of media);

i burn my movies (strictly as data, no video encoding) on to dvdr at 6x even tho the max is 12x; after it burns in nero, nero says it finishes successfully at 6x; but after ejecting it and closing back, it does not recognize the disk and the burned disk is not recognized on 2 other pc's either; after a couple of coasters, i rebooted and defragged, got 1 successful burn and then i wasted 3-5 more coasters!! i even updated my firmware from 1.05 to 1.07 but no difference

i tried uninstalling nero and used vso copydvd and wasted 1 more dvdr

please help ;does it sound like the burner to you guys or something else ? like ram?; nothing else appears weird on this pc recently except this

thank u

I just bought this about 4 days ago. I have used Nero (comes with drive). Here are the errors:

error_description = When I try to burn a data dvd, and try the
Simulation (which simulates a burn in Nero, but no data is written), just to check everything is ok, I get lead in error,
"buffer too large" (which I decreased to 60 but still got the
error), and "simulation failed". Also, in the Nero Toolkit/cd-dvd
speed test, it fails; says "Parameter Value Invalid (052602)"

The drive is recognized; there are no exclamations or the like in the Device Manager. It reads cds and dvds fine. Just won't burn.

I tried using DeepBurn, and when I start the burn process, it just hangs on the first file. I have tried Verbatim DVD-R (2x) media and TDK DVD-R (8x) media, the latter of which came with the drive.
I re-connected all the cables. The DVD RW drive is secondary master; and my CD RW (also Plextor) is secondary slave. My primary M and S are both hard drives.
All Nero software is current. I have the latest firmware update for DVD drive.
I have Windows XP home, sp2; Pentium 4, 2400 mhz; 1 GB ddr dram.

So I am assuming a got a s*** drive... any help? And any other info. you need?

My Plextor PX-740A internal drive is mysteriously disabled now - after lots of use. I have Win XP Home, an Intel 4 @3.4ghz, 1.5gb of RAM. I went into the bios settings and it is recognized. The drive is not recognized via My Computer. I went into the Control Panel's audio hardware section and pulled up this Plextor drive via properties. The advisory is that it is disabled. I tried having Windows enable the drive but it couldn't do it. The problem is noted as being a Code 22. I have the latest drivers for the unit.

I've called Plextor's tech help line but they aren't open on Sundays. Is there anything I can do to resolve this issue today and get it back in working shape? I'm hoping it isn't an issue where the physical drive has broken and needs to be repaired or replaced - I've done nothing out of the ordinary with it use-wise to contribute to its potentially having broken. Pls advise.

A:Plextor DVD drive got disabled

There are some viruses that can disable CD drives. You may want to check you virus scanning software. I recommend using Avast!. It's free and simple.
