T440p Dual-Mode DisplayPort (DisplayPort++)

Q: T440p Dual-Mode DisplayPort (DisplayPort++)

Where can I get cables and adapters for the Dual-mode DisplayPort (DisplayPort++) output port. I want to connect multiple monitors to my laptop for use at home, without buying a docking station. I already have an old VGA monitor connected to the VGA output. Are there any other options for connecting additional monitors other than the DisplayPort++ output and docking station? I've searched Amazon, E-Bay, Best Buy, and nobody seems to have any cables or adaptors that support DisplayPort++.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hi. I know there is a discussion here about the x230t supporting 4k, but my model is the x230, and also the said topic ended without a clear answer. Since now 4K TV's and monitors are so common, could someone please confirm that if we connect an x230 to a 4k display, through DisplayPort, we can get 4K resolution out of it (at 30 Hz) ? I want to order an LG 24UD58 online (that is a still at about 200 bucks), for the purpose of reading PDFs and using Office (not gaming), but the only place that says it can be done is this, and I needed confirmation (please). Thank you so much. I think this information could even bring new life to existing x230's and please many owners

I recently bought an HP Envy 32 monitor and hooked it up to my Mac mini using a mini DisplayPort (i.e. Thunderbolt) to DisplayPort cable. The video works fine @ 2560x1440, but I have no sound. The sound output in system preferences mentions "The selected device has no output controls" for the Envy 32. The sound works fine when I use an HDMI cable, but then the resolution is limited to 1080p. The Mac mini is a mid 2011 model, which is capable of transferring audio via DisplayPort, as far aas I know. Any suggestion on how to solve this?

Figured out how to get mini-displayport audio to work with the HP monitor (I have a Macbook Air)In addition to selecting the HP Monitor as the audio output in SYSTEM PREFERENCES--->SOUND-->OUTPUT-->HP ENVY 32 An adjustment also needs to be made to the AUDIO MIDI SETUP.  you can either do a search for it in the finder, or it is in APPLICATIONS -->UTILITIES-->Audio MIDI SetupOpen the AppSelect DisplayPort in the left menuUnder format...change to 48000.0Hz  2ch-24bit integerOnce changed you should be hearing audio from your monitor.Good luck.

Are there any adapters to do this or ways to do this? I can't seem to find any.

I am buying new monitors, the dell u2414h. Now, while this does have hdmi, I will be connecting multiple monitors together to extend the display from the laptop to give me multiple screens. The problem with this is that it only works if you use displayport and not hdmi, so I need a way to convert the hdmi to displayport or mini displayport.

I will primarily be using these monitors with my laptop that has displayport, so that is why I am getting these monitors and that won't be a problem. I will most likely hook up other laptops to the monitors and hdmi is way more common from what I have seen on laptops than displayport and is why I need a way to go from hdmi to displayport or mini displayport.

Any ideas? Thanks.

A:Hdmi to Displayport/Mini Displayport

You can't, HDMI does not support daisy chaining in the manner that DisplayPort does and you can't use a simply adapter to go from HDMI to DisplayPort and get the features of DisplayPort.

Hello, I'm wondering if it's possible to have a dual monitors on the HP ProDesk 400 G2.5 using both the VGA and DisplayPort at the same time. Will this allow me to extend the display to both monitors? If not, what will I need to purchase to gain this capability? Thanks,John

A:Using VGA in conjunction with DisplayPort for dual monitors ...

The VGA port and Display Port perform the same function just in different ways.  VGA is analog and Display Port is digital.  Unfortunately, it's not going to work the way you think.  You will be looking at the same information on two different monitors without the ability to drag and drop from one to the other.  In order to have a true dual monitor experience, you would need to purchase an inexpensive video card like the VisionTek Radeon PCI card which is specifically designed for this functionality.  This is due to the fact that the dual monitor ability has to be configured via the software that comes with the stand alone card. I hope this helps.

Second question - is there a way to get the D3100 DisplayPort or HDMI to send Dual Link to my DVI screen sharing set up at 2560x1440?
Thanks in advance, Peter

Hello. I recently bought a StarTech MDP2VGA Mini Display Port to VGA Video Adapter Converter for my laptop, as I had a perfectly good monitor sitting in my closet that I had the idea to use as a second (extended desktop) monitor, but no VGA port built into the laptop.

Everything seems to be working great with good quality results, except for one thing, which is Sleep Mode. 9 Times out of 10 whenever the laptop goes to sleep, be it by a set time of inactivity, closing the cover, or manually telling the machine to go to sleep, when I wake it up, I get the ?blue screen of death? on my primary (laptop) display, which most of the time displays a heading of ?BAD_POOL_HEADER?, with the only way out to force the computer to shut down.

My specs are:

Computer:

? Dell XPS L702X
? Windows 7 Ultimate (64-bit) SP 1

Display Adaptors:
? Intel (R) HD Graphics Family
o Driver Version: 8.15.10.2321
? NVIDIA GeForce GT 550M
o Driver Version: 8.17.12.8562

MiniDisplay to VGA Adaptor:
? StarTech.com MDP2VGA Mini DisplayPort to VGA Video Adapter Converter

Second Monitor:
? Dell 1907FP

The steps I have taken so far have been checking to make sure all the video drivers are up-to-date and updating where needed, uninstalling software I installed in the last few days to try to see if I was blaming the issue on the wrong thing, likewise, I did a System Restore to about 3 days back. I have two 27" 2560x1440 60hz monitors that are plugged into the new Pro side-connect dock (40AH) with a new T480 (Intel 620 integrated graphics) in Windows 10 Pro. I can get either monitor to work fine with the dock individually, but trying to run both simultaneously by extending or duplicating the desktop between them seems to fail as selecting either option under Display Settings just makes the primary monitor black out for a few seconds then come back - the secondary monitor stays black.  There's no error msg or popup that would help me investigate further unfortunately. I'm trying this with the T480's lid closed, and I'm running the latest 1.14 BIOS update and latest Intel HD graphics drivers. This setup worked fine on my old OneLink dock and X1 Carbon previously, so I don't think it's an issue with the monitors themselves. Anyone have a similar setup with the new Pro dock that's working?

I have a Dell Latitude E7450 laptop with a E-Port Plus II port replicator connected to two external monitors using DisplayPort which will not output to multiple monitors.
I have another Dell model and when placed on the port replicator with two external monitors connected, booting into BIOS/UEFI the screen is cloned onto each monitor. However, when doing the same with a brand new Dell Latitude E7450 only one screen is active - the other is off. Within Windows itself, I can only have 1 monitor connected to the port replicator. If I undock, I can run 3 monitors independently indicating an issue with the dock rather than a hardware limitation with the laptop itself.
I believe the above tests eliminates the OS or driver issue and highlights a compatibility issue between the new Dell Latitude E7450 laptop and E-Port Plus II port replicator. I have tried this on 2 separate machines with the same results. I have also updated both the graphics drivers (Version 10.18.14.4170, A16) and the BIOS (Version A04) to the latest releases. I have also tried using DVI cables as well as swapping out the port replicators. Nothing works. In Windows 8.1 itself, it actually shows as two monitors active, but one is not on. If I swap out the monitors to a different brand, I get the same result.
Is there a BIOS/UEFI setting I need to change? Is there a newer port replicator or update I need?

A lot is said about the new DisplayPort connection, but the hardware requirements are hard to find. I have a monitor with displayport 1.2. Does the monitor have to be a displayport 1.2a or 1.3? Do you only need a video card with a 1.2a or 1.3 connector? Are today's monitors displays what the video card and cable sends to it? For example; a VGA cable can only send a signal it can handle to the monitor. Is this the same for DisplayPort?

Hi, I've ordered a P53 (RTX-5000), and I'm struggling to determine which (if any) of the USB-C/Thunderbolt ports will support full DisplayPort 1.4 modes when the BIOS is set to use discrete graphics (GPU switching/Optimus disabled)? Will I be able to use my HP Reverb (4320x2160) at 90hz, or an 8K TV (7680x4320) at 30hz, as per DP 1.4? The User Guide makes no mention of integrated/switching (which it appears to describe) vs discrete capabilities, and I know the latter are different (e.g. the BIOS setting exists cuz you need to use discrete mode to get over 60hz for VR). I know the RTX-5000 on it's own has full DP 1.4, and the Titan Ridge chip for the two TB3 ports on the back offers (some level of) DP 1.4 (assuming DisplayPort-only connection mode w suitable adapter here), but I really have no idea about the regular USB-C port (which does claim Alternate Mode support in the User Guide), or if there are some other limitations? Much Thanks!

Both windows settings and nvidia control panel is not detecting the monitor.
Things I've tried so far:

Restarting the pc and the monitor multiple times.
Unplugging and re-plugging the displayport.
Removing the electricity from the display (I've read that sometimes it works).
Changed the power saving mode to high performance (Both in windows control panel and nvidia control panel).
Shutting down the monitor then removing the plug from the wall, inserting the displayport cable then turning everything on.
I might have tried more things, at this point I don't remember, but I'll ad them in later if I remember.

I've been struggling for the last 4 hours, looked at multiple forums, watched multiple youtube videos, but nothing worked so far, I think it's a problem in my pc?

Hello!

So I bought a new monitor, the MG279Q and tried plugging it in to my PC via displayport, the monitor comes with a DP->miniDP cable, (from GTX780 DP to monitors miniDP) and the monitor gives no signal. However the computer does recognize the monitor and for example gives the sound alarm for new device attached. I can also see the device describes as "Generic pnp monitor" and I can see it in the Windows's own control panel for monitor + the nvidia control panel (pics in the end). But it won't allow me to set the monitor to use..

I suspected that the cable might be broken so I tested it with my UX32LN (GeForce 840M) laptop which has a miniDP. I plugged it to the monitor (from laptops miniDP to monitors normal DP, the monitor has both DP and mDP) and wow, image straight away. So the cable should be fine I guess.. But this is somewhat of an different situation as I use different port in the monitor compared to my desktops GTX780. And I don't have other computers or gadgets that I could use to test the monitors miniDP port.

Next I plugged in the monitor via HDMI to my desktop and that worked just fine. It recognizes the monitor without problems. Using my old XL2411Z monitor with DVI + MG279Q with DP or the MG279Q with HDMI+DP at the same time I can see the MG279Q being connected twice but it only chooses the HDMI connection and doesn't let me change it to DP even though it shows the connection.

I received a BenQ PD3200U monitor today, and since the P50 HDMI is not 2.0, I wanted to connect the monitor to the mini Displayport. Anytime I try to switch the monitor to use the Displayport I receive no signal detected, even though the P50 said that a new monitor was there, and it also let me update the driver to the one supplied by BenQ. If I connect with HDMI the monitor works just fine, but the resolution isn't great. Since the P50 says it supports DP 1.2 and the monitor is set to DP 1.2 I thought it should be as simple as plug and play. Not so much by the look of it. Is there a way to see if the mini display port on the P50 is somehow disabled? I know the supplied cable could be bad, but figured I'd see if there was another common reason.  Jason

How do you know the TV is detecting the signal if it is displaying a "No Signal" message?

If the TV has more than one input, have you confirmed that the HDMI input from the computer is selected?

According to HP, your computer is an older model that came with either Windows 7 or Windows Vista.
http://h20564.www2.hp.com/hpsc/doc/public/display?docId=emr_na-c03412787

In either case, it is possible that the computer is booting up with a video resolution and/or refresh rate that is incompatible with your TV. You could try booting in Safe Mode and see if you get a usable display. Here are HP's instructions for WIndows Vista:
http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c01767672

And for Windows 7:
https://h20566.www2.hp.com/hpsc/doc...432827&docLocale=en_US&docId=emr_na-c01835750

If that works, you can then experiment with different resolutions and refresh rates. If one of the experiments results in a no signal message, wait up to about 30 seconds without touching any keys or mouse buttons and the computer should revert to the previous settings. The resolution should be set to the native resolution of the TV's screen and the fastest refresh rate possible.

I have two monitors connected to my Thinkpad T460, one HDMI to DVI adapter, and the other Mini DisplayPort to DVI. I was able to work on both monitors for a couple of hours the other day, and when I went back later to work more, I no longer had the connection via the DisplayPort. I tried updating my display driver, and I also downloaded an Intel HD Graphics driver for Windows 10 and a Lenovo USB Display Driver (DP). I have tried unconnecting everything, restarting my laptop, and trying to detect the 3rd dipslay in display settings. At this point, I am not quite sure what is wrong. If my computer was able to detect if before, why am I having problems now? Help!

Does the T470s support DisplayPort Alternate mode?  https://www.displayport.org/displayport-over-usb-c/ This would allow it to support dual displayport monitors using an adapter such as: https://www.amazon.com/CHOETECH-Thunderbolt-Compatible-Resolution-Chromebook/dp/B01MT8TT9B/ref=sr_1_... Alternatively since the T470s has Thunderbolt 3 Usb-C,   could it possible support Plugable's Thunderbolt 3 line of adapters?   Currently compatibility currently lists Thinkpad P series: http://plugable.com/thunderbolt-3/support

Hi, I plan to buy new laptop and ProBook 450 G4 seems to me like reasonable priced laptop. I wanted use docking station that uses Thunderbolt 3 but I don't know if it will work as I plan.  For that I need support of DisplayPort over USB-C and USB Power Delivery. Thanks

Hi I can't find out if this laptop (EliteBook 725 G3) supports a display port output over its usb type c port, as for example, the latests mbp does. I'd like to connect a 2nd 4k display to this computer, the first being connected to its regular DP output. Anyone knows ? thanks

A:Solved: displayport?

You may have to start connected via DVI until you get the drivers for the Video card installed.

Hi I have a USB-C to DisplayPort converter cable to connect my Yoga 900 to an HP Envy 32 with a resolution of 3440 x 1440 pixels. It normally works reasonably well, except for two things: (1) It usually takes three or four connections (pulling USB-C connector in and out) until the monitor is recorgnized and (2) it flickers from time to time. Hopefully, this is an issue with the cheap cable and not the expensive computer or monitor! Now, the USB-C port is spec'ed as having native display port 1.2 video output. Does this mean that I should be able to use a simple cable without a protruding converter as the one in the link below or do I absolutely need a converter? Does the Yoga 900 comply with Alternative Mode DisplayPort? Are there any recommended cables? I didn't check the Lenovo shop in a while, but there was nothing like this when I last looked. USB-C to DisplayPort 1,8 m cable: https://www.amazon.es/Cable-adaptador-Plugable-USB-C-DisplayPort/dp/B01EXKDRAC/ref=sr_1_29?s=electro... This one's a little long for my configuration. A 100 cm cable would be enough. Thanks!    -Philippe Gibelin
