I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

A: Installed new USB Headset NOW no speaker audio even if I unplug the headset

Yeah, my USB headset was a little weird at first as well.

Try going into your volume control (Start > All Programs > Accessories > Entertainment > Volume Control):
1. Click Options
2. Properties
3. Change the mixer device from the USB headset to your speakers.

Should work.

Also should note you can change the output settings in most audio software (for example: Windows Media Player, Winamp, etc.) so if you can't hear anything from your speakers when using those programs, try fiddling with those settings as well. I know for Winamp it's Options > Preferences > Plug-ins > Output > double-click the plug-in you use (mine is out_ds.dll) and again change it to your speakers using the drop down menu.

I bought a Logitech USB headset/microphone for playing games with Teamspeak.
When I plug in the USB adapter, the headset audio works great. The audio from my speakers stops working.
I am assuming XP is redirecting the audio streams to the headset/mic, but I wondered if there is some way I can have audio out on the speakers and on the headset ?

Thanks.

Hello

So three days ago I wiped all of my drives and installed Windows 10. I have a Corsair Vengenace 2100 headset. I installed the realtek drivers from ASUS download section for my motherboard and then I installed the headset drivers.

The problem is that my headset does not record anything through the microphone if I set it to be the default device for audio output. If I have my other computer speakers as the default output device my microphone works just fine.

This goes for all the USBs in the back of the motherboard. The headset works just great if I plug in the wireless reciever in the front of the computer.

I have tried to reinstall the drivers multiple times and checked a bunch of different settings in the sound manager in windows but nothing seems to work.

Have also googled all kinds of things but nothing seems to relate to my problem.

I do not have any external sound card plugged into my computer.

Thanks for any help provided!

EDIT: Can be closed as I found the win 10 forum after I made the thread. Sorry!

I can't figure out how to fix this. I noticed that, when I'm watching a video, my headset's mic will relay the audio coming into my headset. Disabling Stereo Mix doesn't fix it. The physical controller that's on my headset cable doesn't stop it from happening, as even if I turn the volume knob all the way down and flick the mute switch, it's still picking up the audio. Muting my headset from within the computer stops the mic from hearing it, as does switching to my speakers that are plugged into the front jack. My headset is a 3.5mm jack type plugged into the back of the computer, directly into the motherboard.

I just downloaded Vonage's Softphone service which allows me to make and receive calls on my computer. I've got a Compaq nx6120 laptop, and I purchased the Logitech ClearChat Stereo PC headset.

My problem: The headset and microphone only seem to work when the laptop's speaker is enabled. This allows anyone else in the room to hear my conversations. I'd like to be able to mute my laptop speaker and still have my headset and microphone work so I may make and receive calls without broadcasting them to others in the room.

Any ideas/assistance would be greatly appreciated!

Hi AML,

Try dropping into your 'Control Panel' and opening up 'Sounds and Audio Devices'. Once in there, click on the 'Audio' tab and check your 'Sound Playback - Default Device'. Just a note that before you do this, make sure your headset is plugged-in! You may be able to drop it down to 'Logitech' or similar and not have it blaring out of the speaker at the same time!

Hi, I've just purchased this Logitech z313 speaker system product and have a question. not sure where i can get my answer.

The speaker system works great. I love it!

Only problem is that I'm wondering if i can hook my headset up and am able to quickly switch back and fourth.

I have a headset that is connected in the back of my PC with the regular jacks.

I have the speaker system hook in by its jack on the front port of my PC.

Hopefully someone can help me out.

Thanks,
Clifton Wade.

A:Help With my Headset and speaker system!

There's a headphone jack in the volume controller of the speakers so yes, unless your headset is more than stereo and uses multiple plugs, in which cause you could buy 3 sets of splitters and connected them both at the same time and just turn off the speakers when they are not in use.

Hey all, I'm new here but it seems like a good place to get help with this problem.
I've been running my speakers and headset together using the headset for first person shooters and speakers for music and such and its been running fine for weeks.

Last night while on teamspeak and playing an fps my headset would begin to fade in and out and after going through my audio options/properties many times and looking for new drivers the problem is still here. I have the headset plugged into the green port (rear) and mic in the pink port (rear) with the speakers in the headphones port (front) and it was working fine until last night.

Now, whenever I have them both plugged in and try to play an fps, sound only comes out of the speakers...and if I unplug the speakers then a very faint sound comes out of the headset even when the volume is at max. I've tried different combinations like putting the headset into the headphones port but the result is still the same. I also tried this with a different pair of headphones and the sound output to that is still very faint and not audible. Weird thing is, is that this only happens on fps...music will play fine on the headset but during gameplay (more than one game) the sound just dissappears and all the game settings are fine.

Im on a Dell 8200 series running XP Pro with intel integrated sound AC'97 (on board)..i know its not great but its fine for now...any suggestions are welcome.
Thanks for the help

However, my problem is when i plug in my headset, both the speakers and headset worked at the same time, which means i hear both the music playing thru the speakers and headset. How do i solve this issue? I wanna only listen to my headset when i plug them in to my computer but not the speaker.

Thank for taking your time to read my situation.

This problem occurred to me yesterday when I purchased a new headset for my PC. When I got back home and tried to headset out it worked perfectly fine however later that day, when I tried to fix the wiring that was tangled up by taking out the headset from the jack, I plugged them back in only to see a the speakers option at the bottom right hand corner saying that "No speakers or headphones are plugged in". At this time I went and got my old headset and plugged that in however the same problem occurred.

I have looked at many ways to fix this problem however none work for me. Any solutions or advice would be very helpful!

I am running Windows 8.1 64-Bit

Hey,

the topic pretty much says it. I bought myself a new headset(C-media headphone set or something) which uses a USB-port instead of an original sound-port-thing. The problem is, whenever I plug the headset in the USB-port pretty much nothing happens and I can't get the sound in the headset, it just stays in the speakers...

It used to be no problem when I used a headset with the sound-port on the motherboard to just change it. Anyone have any suggestions on what I might do? :(

edit: forgot to say that it works just fine after rebooting the computer.

Thank you

Try going into the Control Panel and go into Sounds and Audio Devices. From there you can pick the default device for recording and for playback. In the playback section, set the headset as the default device instead of your speakers.

Hi PTTodd,

Welcome to the Sevenforums.

As designed it can produce sound either from headset or speakers. In most system if you connect headset then speakers won't work and vice versa.

If headset is connected then preferred audio output would be headset. Once headset is disconnected it would automatically switch to speakers.

Hope this information helps.

To me the laptop would have to be Bluetooth enabled which if it was then you could play the sound through the laptop speakers.

Adding a set of active powered speakers would then produce what you are saying on the headset.

I've searched around a lot about this topic, but after hours and days of searching, I've found nothing to fix my problem. I have a headset that has speakers and a microphone (3.5mm jacks) that work fine, except when I'm trying to talk to someone using the microphone, they can hear the sounds coming from my headset (youtube videos, game sounds etc). I've tried installing the Realtek HD Audio Codec but it disappears after it finishes installing and after I restart (although it still remains in the Programs and Features uninstall page), the program files for it is empty with the exception of RtlUpd64.exe which doesn't do anything when executed and a few other files.
In device manager, the things I have under sound, video and game controllers are Audio Device on High Definition Audio Bus and the Intel Display Audio. I've updated everything to the latest. Also, I recently system restored my computer and before I did I had IDT High Definition Audio Drivers, but after updating they were changed.
I think the problem is that stereo mix is enabled somewhere or something to do with my drivers as when I tried plugging my headset into my brother's computer, it worked fine (he has the Gigabyte Realtek Audio Manager thing and was able to adjust the stereo mix settings).
If there's a program or workaround to this, or how to disable the stereo mix like through registry or something, please let me know.

A:Headset mic recording sounds through headset?

You are correct, that is the usual cause of this problem. And aside from being set in the drivers, it can sometimes be set in the application (used for the communication).

That model does appear to use the IDT High-Definition (HD) Audio chipset. The problem is likely in the fact that you upgraded to Win10 and I don't see that HP supports nor supplies drivers for Win10 (I only see drivers for 7 and 8). Which means you are using generic drives supplied by Windows. The generic Windows drivers often work well enough to get hardware functional, but quite often don't support all hardware or all features of all hardware.

I have a almost broken headset, but the microphone still works fine, The microphone is connected on the wire right before the headset, Its not actually touching the headset itself.

Would this microphone still work if the headset was cut off?

Sorry but I can't manage to take a photo but

A:Will a Headset microphone still work if I cut it off the Headset?

Is the microphone actually supported by the headset, by that I mean when the set is on your head is the microphone carried close to your mouth so you have both hands free. If this is the case then cutting off the headset will mean the microphone will not have any way of being held near your mouth.
If you cut it off you will have to be very careful you don't cut the wires for the microphone & it's possible that there is a common return wire for the earpieces & the microphone in the form of a shielded cable, so it would be very difficult, but if you have skills in this area it could be done.

Hello all

I've just installed Windows Vista Home Premium 64-bit onto my machine this morning and am encountering a few problems. Right now my biggest problem being my headset is not working properly. It worked fine yesterday when I had XP installed, but since the installation of Vista there's been problems. I can hear out of it just fine, but the microphone does not work at all. I have no idea why....I've checked all the settings and don't see why it isn't working. Has anyone else had this problem? If so, how did you correct it?

Any and all help is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

A:Just installed Vista, USB headset microphone not working

A lot of people seem to have problems with Microphones in Vista.

Right click the speaker icon in your taskbar and click on Recording Options and see if Microphone is listed, if it isn't, right click anywhere in Recording Devices and select "Show Disabled Devices" and "Show Disconnected Devices", if microphone is there now, right click on it and click "Set as Default Device".

If it's still not working, double click on it and go to the Levels tab and make sure it's not muted.

Also, just to be safe, if your microphone has an on/off switch on it, make sure it's turned on.
Usually the problem is it's not set as the default device.

The main question is... Where the hell does Vista download drivers ?!

Now if you want the details keep reading, but that's mostly what I want to know...

This is it Trust - USB Headset HS-4100; now here's my problem...

When I put the headset in the usb port vista automatically downloaded and installed the drivers for it. I found out later that any half-intelligent human being would configure vista to ASK before doing such a horrid thing; unfortunately I'm a troglodyte and didn't do so from the beginning...

The problem with the driver vista found is that it recognizes my headset as a stereo system, when in fact it has that nice surround chip inside. The trust drivers would let me configure my mike and my headphones to my heart's desire too. Alas, I can't install the drivers unless I put the headset in the usb.

So... I disabled the auto-download driver policy windows has, prompting it to ASK me before it does so; after I uninstall the driver from the device manager and try to install the TRUST drivers, the moment in which I plug the headset in the usb, vista starts installing it's ALREADY downloaded driver FASTER than the trust driver installer can install his, so mid-install it tells me "installation failed", since the vista driver got installed quicker.

The way I see things with my limited common-sense, the problem is this, windows will ask me if I want to install a driver only if it's not found locally, since the driver it found earlier ... Read more

Also not sure what drivers you are trying to install unless they are the XP ones, which in all likelihood won't work anyway. Something else I noticed on the download page for your headset,

Windows VistaFor this product, no special Trust driver is needed. This is because either the product does not need a driver in order to function properly, or the default driver from your operating system should be used. If available, check the manual of your product for further instructions.

Now with saying all that if you know which C-Media chip is in it,

USB Audio | C-Media Electronics

it is possible that you could get the drivers from C-Media. All C-Media products use C-Media reference drivers, only difference is that they are modified by the end manufacturer; custom applications, their own name showing in the control panel, etc. There is only one small problem with that at the moment though,

Due to the expiration of Sensaura license, the driver download site will be temporarily suspended. We will reopen the download site when the new driver is available.

I've got an Asus P6T Deluxe V2 Motherboard, and I'm using the optical audio out port with an optical audio cable into the optical in port on the transmitter. I'm not getting any sound in the headset. Any ideas?

Problem solved. Audio driver update did it.

Ok. So I've been at this thing for the second day in a row and all my searching online was to no avail. My headset (HyperX Cloud Stinger) used to work fine on my laptop (Acer VX15); I'm not sure what happened or what I did, but suddenly the microphone seemed to be transmitting internal audio (via discord, my friends could hear my system sounds).

Here's a list of things I've tried (in no particular order):
- Test headset on a different device
- Tested on iPad and phone
- Checking sounds-recording devices:
- Mic set to default
- Stereo Mix is disabled
- No other devices are appearing despite checking "Show disabled/diconnected"
- After right clicking the mic, "Listen to this device" is unchecked
- Microphone boost to full
- Exclusive mode checks off
- Sound effects off
- Drivers related:
- Updating using the Realtek website (Latest HD Audio Codecs). It didn't work (Actually seems to uninstall Dolby Audio.) (6.0.1.8186)
- Using audio drivers from the Acer site (Usually restores Dolby Audio.) (6.0.1.7954)
- Updating via the MUC (Microsoft Update Catalog) (6.0.1.8199?)
- Deleting Nvidia Virtual Audio... uh something (got restored via updating my graphics card)
- Deleting dual entries in the "Sound, video, and game controllers" Device Manager entry (even the hidden ones)
- Computer Reset:
- Without losing data (Lost some saved games...)
- Full wipe

Anyway I think it's a software problem because it concerns both the hardwares.
Thanks for the attention.

My Plantronics RIG headset has been working fine since I bought it. However, yesterday when I left my laptop (HP - Pavilion) and returned to use it I couldn't hear any sound coming from the headset. I plugged in my other headset to see if my RIG was broken, but I couldn't hear any audio from this one as well. Since my headset is a RIG, I plugged in my iphone and I could hear my music playing. I feel like my headsets are working but there is an issue else where.

I have already checked the 'sound' options if the wrong device was set as default. I have the proper options set up in the 'Sound' options and everything is plugged in fine. I have tried the other USB ports, but no luck. The speakers on my laptop work fine. While I in 'Device Manager' I could hear the 'Beeping' sound play through my headset. Restarted my laptop, shut it down, updated my HP - Pavilion drivers. The microphone works fine as well.

Also just to point out in my 'Sound' options that the 'AMD High Definition Audio Device' is NOT PLUGGED IN.

Thank you very much in advance for any help, P4nnywise.
Also, sorry if this thread is in the wrong section.
