I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

Ordered X1 extreme and shipped on 12/17. But the expected delivery date is 12/27.   when I used the Serial number listed on shipping email, the warranty is started from 12/17.  As there is close to 11 days between ship and delivery date, isn't the warranty supposted to start on 12/27 [delivery date] instead of shipped date.  Otherwise warranty ending 10 to 11 days earlier than expected.

After ordering recovery disk for my desktop at the beginning of the month, when I recieved them there where defective. HP did refund my money but now my problem is all of a sudden they don't carry those recovery disk anymore. The tech I talked to told me straight out it was because my computer was really old (bought brand new in February of 2012). Does anyone know where to get the recovery disk now?

However, the website estimates that it will be feb 23 for the laptop to arrive and the laptop is expected to ship on the 12th (6 days after the order is placed)? What's going on? Have you tried using parts lookup?  Choose "Mechanical Assemblies" on the left under commodity type.  Dont post your serial number here but if you put it in parts lookup you will find parts for your laptop.  I just looked up Generic u530.
With that part number you can get at Lenovo Encompass store.  Please verify part numbers before buying.

I have never experianced this kind of delay in a basic workstation, nothing fancy very basic. Said order would ship in 5-7 business days. That schedule has been push out three times. If it does by chance make it on the new delivery date it will be 27 business days. I would have never ordered this if it said order ships in 4-5 weeks. I will tell eveyone i know to watch out for this companies lies and tricks.

I have placed an order for 2 laptops on 7 August 2019. Till now, I have not received them. I have also not received any assistance for this entire period. In fact the only responses I have received thus far are emails from your staff stating that they would assist me. My last contact with Lenovo was on 16 September 2019 and that was not even any email from your staff but from ME to your staff. It has been 8 days and I have yet to receive any reply. I am not sure what kind of service Lenovo has but not only is it bad, it appears to be non-existent. The Windows Photo Viewer will not display photos in the order they are sorted by Windows Explorer.
This is not referring to the slide show feature, just the forward and back arrows.
The only order pictures can be viewed is by name despite Windows Explorer being set at view by date, ascending.
I have repaired Microsoft Live Essentials, uninstalled and reinstalled but the issue remains.
This is also not an issue with photo tags or photo names.
Windows Explorer sorts as selected but click a picture in the middle to view, click the forward arrow and instead of the next date picture being viewed, the next name picture is viewed.

I upgraded to Windows 10 recently as well, I have the same problem and I also have a solution. However, I do not know, if it is ideal. :-)

What is obviously missing is an entry in the registry called DropTarget. This entry tells Windows Photo Viewer to display the images in the sorting order of the folder Photo Viewer got called from.

I saw that at least in my registry there is a DropTarget defined in HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Applications\photoviewer.dll\shell\open\DropTarget. From the name of the key and from reading the docs this looks as if it would be applied to all calls to this program, but -if that actually is the case- for me this entry does not work. It has been there (at least) after my Windows 10 upgrade, also the "Clsid"="{FFE2A43C-56B9-4bf5-9A79-CC6D4285608A}" seems to be fine, but it does not do the job.

For me, this problem was present for jpg and png files, but not for bmp, dib, gif, jfif and what else can be opened with Windows Photo Viewer. To fix this, I have added the following to the Windows Registry:

tried to log out of a site where I had placed an order. Rang the customer services who told me to click the x on my screen - when I said that that would mean I am still logged in to the site I was told they would log me out their end but I am still logged in. I have switched off and switched on my 8.1 laptop but I am still logged in to the site. Is the prob my end? and how do I log off or is the prob the other end please.

I've got a 90th birthday picture project that I'm assembling and am getting pictures from several sources. Sometimes I'll get two or three sets of image files, all of which are labeled "img_001.jpg, img002.jpg, img003.jpg", etc. These come from several past years. When they're dumped from a thumb drive to my working folder, and then displayed, they get all intermixed. (I use irfanview to view the collection, to assure they're sharp focused, etc.)

I sorted the folder by date, went to the first file and launched irfanview. I get the selected file. If I click the "next arrow", I might get the next physical file, not the next-by-date. The program has a slideshow function that will sort it for you and display by date.

What I really want is to get the files into the date order physically on the disk, so that when copied onto a digital picture frame, for example, it will play sequentially by date if possible. I don't know that they have a lot of intelligence, to sort the pix by itself.

I tried sorting by date and the copying to a different folder on a different disk, but it always changes when I access it afterward. With 400+ pictures, I don't want to do them one-by-one.

Any freeware out there that'll do it for me?

For a long time, if I downloaded a folder from Google chrome, it would go to the downloads folder in Microsoft explorer with the latest downloaded file on top. I'm not sure how I changed it, but somehow the download folder now has the looks of the music library with categories in the details view of "name","contributing artist", "title", "album". I can sort them by name alphabetically, but not by date downloaded. If I don't remember the name of the download, I'll have to search for it in this huge folder of lots of different downloads, and if it has a weird name as some downloads do, it will be difficult. Is there a way to go back to getting the downloads folder like a documents folder (or however it was) and be able to arrange them by date downloaded?

When I download photos from my Sony Cybershot to my notebook, using Windows Camera wizard to MY PICTURES relevant sub-file, they remain in the jpg file (& date) number order. But when I view or edit them in MS Picture Manager, I find some of my photos date order has been mixed-up compared to the order of taking and storing them on the camera folder and in the Explorer/My Pictures sub-file. So, when I simply wish to view them in a slideshow sequentially they are of course displayed as well out of order. Nor can I find a facility in MS PM to re-arrange them in date order? Furthermore, MS PM will not allow me to drag & drop them back into the date order (which would be a long job sometimes with holiday photos in any case!).

Has anybody a solution how to overcome this frustrating time-waster, please?

Is it possible in IE8 / IE9 to make the History page show sites in LAST VISITED order. I.e the site you just visited is AT THE TOP of say todays date.

The default alphabetical method IMO is totally useless if you've visited a lot of sites and you want to go back to one you've forgotten the name of but you remember it was probably for example in the last 5 or 6 sites visited.

I can get the info from a server log but I should be able to get it directly in the history page in the browser.

I ordered 2 laptops online. Order # 2005705260971. I received a call from Dell's sales rep (heavy Indian accent). She told me she could offered me additional 3% discount and next day delivery. I was very happy. She then told me she has to cancel the original order and replace with new order. I told her whatever she need to do. She then told me she needs to recollect the payment. I said I don't feel comfortable to give her info over the phone. I later received an email cancellation and also another email  for the quote. However, she changed my original laptop with more expensive laptop and also she removed another laptop. I told her NO, I need the original one. She then sent me another quote with one original and one with different model. I again, told her NO. I need her to put back the same models. She keeps insisted this is the same spec I have with better price. I was mad and told her don't waste my time and just put back my original order. She said the order already cancel. I called the Dell CS, again, you can heard very heavy Indian's access. The rep asked me a lot of unrelated qs, although I have provided my original order #. At the end, I have to end the call. I tried to order with LIVE CHAT, and again, another Indian's rep. I gave up. I have NO problem with Indians. I ordered parts to upgrade my Alienware Area 51-R2 whereupon the fun began. While I made 1 order Dell decided to charge my card for each individual part. My bank approved the first charge but when the second one came right behind it was declined until they could contact me and verify the purchase, which I did. 
I then tried to contact Dell this morning to complete everything. Big mistake. My first road block was the automated answering system. Obviously it was designed to frustrate customers and weed out all but the most serious people. After finally making contact with a live person ( a third party agent in I dia) tried to explain my concern. After much fumbling with the English language and accents this agent transferred me to an office that was closed and they hung up on me. It took me 3 more attempts following the same procedures to get in contact with someone who could complete my order. This agent ran card with no problems. Process complete. Silly me. @minutes after I hung up I received a call from a different Dell agent to confirm that I was ordering these parts. I verified this.
To my complete surprise when I checked my bank account I come to find out that both agents ran my card. So as of right now I am being charged twice for the same order. I called Dell back.....AGAIN. Last month, November 18th, I ordered a Dell Zino HD. The initial delivery date was December 2nd. Later the date got pushed back to Dec. 10th. Then, just the other day I look at my order status and it says it's been canceled! What!? Dell never contacted me regarding this. Now there is a new order of the same Zino HD on my account and a new delivery date of Dec. 23rd. Why? I've tried to contact Dell and couple times. Dell has yet to contact me in return to fix the problem, or at the very least explain what's going on.

Hope someone at dell can help me resolve this (Service Request Number 940696238).
At the end of November, I placed an order for an XPS 13 with i7 processor and 16gb memory.
On  11/22/2016, I received the order but found that it came with a 8gb memory instead of 16gb.
Contacted customer support and the agent agreed to send out a replacement unit.
On 12/14/2016, received the replacement unit, but it also had 8gb memory instead of 16gb.
Contacted customer support again and reported the issue.  The agent said another replacement unit would be sent out shortly, and emailed me return labels for the two units I already received.  The agent also told me I could return the two units AFTER I received the replacement unit.
On 12/22/2016, received an email from a customer support sr. associate named Siddharth Mondal, saying the replacement unit had been delivered according to tracking information and asking whether everything is fine.  He was obviously not aware of my situation about the two incorrectly-configured laptops.  I emailed back saying the replacement unit again has the wrong memory size.  However, soon after that, I checked the support request status via dell website and the status says the case is closed.
Bottom line: Sitting here with two wrong orders (original plus replacement) and two return labels for them, still without the correct order, and the support request appears to be closed.

Someone else will have to advise you on the BIOS. Most of them only require flashing the latest, but we have Dell experts here who will know for sure.

I can advise you on getting a perfect Dell Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7. Just read and follow closely the steps in the tutorial, especially about how drivers are handled in Win7 which is different than previously. Wait to see which drivers are missing after all rounds of Important and Optional Windows Updates are completed.

1) My desktop takes forever to boot up, then after being on 5 minutes it reboots itself so I am unable to run utilities or virus scans. I have the Dell Reinstallation CD, + the Dell Drivers and Utilities cd, however I can't even get into Boot Options to change the boot order to cd drive The System32 files are damaged, + the windows installer is corrupt. What to do now?
2) In the past I have used a special cable to connect defective hard drive to a functioning pc and use it's OS to run scans and remove viruses from the defective drive. But I don't know how using this method would help if the problem with defective drive is damaged or missing system files. Ie. I do not know how to repair these files while the defective hard drive is connected to another functioning pc OS. Any thoughts on this?

3) One other concern, there is a product key # label on the Dell case, however as I recall this rarely matches the product key in the machine (in BIOS or hard drive???) . I'm wondering if I will have trouble activating the OS if I only have product key on outside of case?

Well, I get the PXE-E61 error on my computer every once in a while; maybe 1/5 times I start it up, and when it does happen I usually have to restart about two or three times to get it to start up correctly.

I 'm not sure if it's a huge problem, but I would really like to get rid of it altogether because it is kind of annoying. Nothing else is wrong with my computer.

I know changing the boot order is supposed to get rid of this, and I was given a link and a suggestion, but my options are slightly different than the ones I found in the link.

I just want to be completely sure I'm doing this right.

I recently (April 2014) bought a Dell Inspiron 15 computer (4GB of Ram and 500GB hard drive) with Windows 8 installed. I have created a backup image of the OS and also burned a bootable disk so that I can reinstall Windows 8 at a future date.
My old computer (which uses Win XP) permits me to change the boot order sequence by using the f12 key during the startup process to access the BIOS and then edit the boot order sequence so that the machine boots from a DVD or USB drive. This makes it possible to restore a backup image from a previous date or even to use a different OS, e.g. Linux.
My problem is that the f12 key does not work on the new machine and I do not know how to create a boot order sequence that will permit me to boot from a DVD or USB drive instead of the hard drive. So at this point, I cannot use the bootable recovery disk that I prepared. I understand that there is now UEFI technology that controls booting.
Question: How can I make make the new computer boot from a DVD or USB drive?

I have a dell 7567 Gamimg laptop with a 1080P TN Panel that I own since 1/23/17 (ordered since 1/12/17) and I'm wondering if it's possible to have the display upgraded to a 1080P IPS, if it's not possible then I'm having a tough decision on upgrading the Display to a IPS Panel to void my 2 year premium display warranty when I have the money or wait until the warranty expires

Just bought this laptop from ebay and I am looking to upgrade my current BIOS (A03) to the latest one (A23). But I am not able to install this latest BIOS (A23) unless my current BIOS is (A05). I follow the instruction on Dell support site and trying to download (A05) but it does not show anything in the links.
Where can I find this (A05) BIOS for my laptop?

Okay, so as the topic title implies, for the life of me, I cannot figure out which motherboard model I'm supposed to get for this Dell Inspiron 1300 here. Only info I have is that it has the Centrino sticker on the palm rest of the case, and I also have the service tag, but that doesn't seem to give me much information from what I've found.

I've taken the motherboard out of the thing and looked it over, but no luck, as I don't see the model number on it.

Will someone please tell me how I'm supposed to figure out the motherboard model number so I can get a new one?

Im startings to recieve BSoDs now, every few days. The most recent was about half an hour ago, I didn't catch the error message this time except something about "lvrs" if I recall. For some reason I can't find a record of it either. I had two tabs in Firefox open, AIM running as well as WoW(which had been running for no more than 30 minutes).

Per title, my PC randomly freezes with a loud buzzing noise and sometimes I'll have to hard reset and sometimes it'll restart on it's own.  It varies from a week, 10 days, couple days.  There's no rhyme or reason that I can find.
I'm usually gaming when this happens with youtube in the background or flash running.
My PC specs:
Built August 2015
EVGA 750W gold power supply
Intel I7-5820k
16GB Ram, 4gb each, 2400DDR
MSI X99A Motherboard
Nvidia GTX970
I had been using the overclocked version of GTX970 and it was freezing back then too so I thought it was the video card.  I replaced it with a non overclocked GTX970(current for about 3 months) and it still freezes randomly)
What I've tried:
SFC scan
Re-formating, different OS multiple times
Isolating RAM one by one
I have a new PSU to try out too but it would not turn on when I tried putting it together(maybe I need to unseat everything first?)

Hi to all
I have random very random BSODs on my older PC.
P4 3.0ghz, 2gb DDR1 PC3200, radeon 9600 pro (using latest legacy drivers for Vista on Win7 for my ATI card), Win7 7600 build - and I have terrible BSOD problems since I upgraded from Vista 32bit. These BSODs are occuring in very random fashion. Every 2-3 weeks only once, or every 2-3 days at once. I didn't see that BSODs occured in the row at the same day. I checked also for any memory problems (Windows memory diagnostic tool from Win7) and it found nothing. I have latest BIOS and I didn't have any single problems when I had Win Vista Sp2. These BSODs are annoying really, I tried to resolve this and I didn't find any solution. My memory is okay, my hardware is okay and I didn't had any problems with Win Vista SP2 on the same PC.
Also I analyzed these provided minidumps (which are here) and only what I think about this, that some driver or drivers are causing this BSOD. I think that's 100% software problem. So please help me - please analyze these minidumps which I provided and please reply to me what do you think. And many help to anyone which is trying to help me. Please reply here what do you think about these minidumps.

We've tried all the fixes, and batch files from MS, and elsewhere, but Almost all new installations of Windows 7 will just not get updates. I have 2 machines we have formatted twice and reinstalled Win 7 and one literally has been sitting waiting for updates for 2 solid weeks. (it's not crucial, and we're sort of using it as a test. We're starting to wonder if it's an I.P. issue or something, because it only seems to be our location. I am going to grab that Vaio and bring it home and see if it works here, but for the first 3 years in our location, and some 3000 jobs (obviously not all Win 7 installs) we had no problems. Now, whether you set it to automatically update, or download and let me decide, changing time and date etc. Activated or not. It's really odd, and none of my research is finding a cause for it. Has anyone else experienced this?

Update runs are notoriously slow at the moment, but not that BAD and at some stage i would have thought there would have been a timeout sent by your server, which brings me to, have you reached your licence allocation .

Are they just sat with the message checking for updates, or is it another.
Either way could you post a copy of the last days entries from the windowsupdate log, we'll go from there
(moving post to Updates/activations please read the stickys at the top of that sub-forum i will more than likely ask for some of the other operations)

History Browsing: "View By Order Visited Today"

Instead History will show Recents Pages by X pages (Recent FIFO method), it shows by "Today".

Every time when it is 00:00 (midnight), it resets all the history I've had.

I want to change it to "View By Order Visited" or "View By Order Visited for couple days", instead of "View By Order Visited Today" (Browsing History displays only for one day), So that If it pass midnight - I could still see the last links.

Any Edit Reg / Tweaking ?

I don't want to depress you but it is the same in IE9
I doubt theres anything you can do: anybody know different ?

I ordered the HDR / 16GB / 1TB model on March 6, 2018 with expedited shipping. The shipping estimate is 3 weeks (March 28) at time of checkout. But I noticed the shipping time has decreased to 5-7 business days on Lenovo's website since March 9. Does this mean my order will get shipped sooner? However, the estimated shipping on my order detail page still shows March 28. Thank you!
