I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hello, here is anudeep. I have a problem with software Returnil Systemsafe 2011 which i was installed in my laptop. It was not going to uninstall. If I tried to turnoff the Virtual mode, it opens a pop-up message i.e., "The RPC server is unavailable". So, please solve my problem how to get that uninstalled ?    regards, AnudeepEdit: Moved topic from Introductions to the more appropriate forum. ~ Animal

A:Solve my problem through online

Returnil System Safe 2011 is a legitimate security program which offers real-time protection. The problem with many such programs is that they sometimes can be difficult to remove if their services and running processes are not disabled or turned off prior to attempting removal because they are in use. With some programs it's easier to uninstall after booting into safe mode which is designed to start Windows with minimal drivers and running processes. In safe mode many programs and their related services that normally start when Windows starts will not run. Since that is the case, it also means there are less processes which can interfere with uninstalling a program.[/i]

Accupoint problems appear to be prevalent across many Toshiba laptops. Remember that occasionally the pointer will recalibrate itself, this should take approx 10-20 seconds - do not try and use the pointer during this period - it should stabilise after this period. However if the problem becomes frequent or recalibration is taking a long time, the general consensus is to:-

a) Clean dust / debris from around the pointer using a compressed air can. This does work in most cases.

b) Continued drift / erratic behaviour - reinstall drivers / replace the keyboard.

Note: Use of an external mouse will not, in most cases, prevent the drift problem.

If your laptop is out of warranty and / or you do not want to replace the keyboard / have the laptop repaired, you can permantley disable the Accupoint device. This will mean that you will always have to use an external mouse - connected to the mouse or USB port.

If you are reasonably competent proceed as follows:-

Remove the keyboard - disconnect the external power supply and battery/s first.

a) There is a small black plastic strip located immediately above the function keys, remove, using the two small recesses - it should snap out easily.

b) Locate the two small black screws that secure the keyboard to the chassis and remove.

c) Gently lift the keyboard away from the chassis by lifting the keyboard from the top.

d) The keyboard is connected to the laptop via a ribbon cable which is secured to the connector by... Read more

I appear online on Facebook all day when my windows 8 is switched on. I turn it off and it automatically gets online.
Went to messages in the metro and set the status to invisible. Do you also have this issue?

A:Facebook status: online

Yes...this is normal behavior since you signed in with a MS account and let it sync up with FB and Messeger. It will show you online all day every day, nature of the beast sort of thing. Just unsync it with FB and you should be good to go.
1. Sign in to Windows Live Profile page: http://profile.live.com/services
2. Click Facebook, click Remove this connection completely.
3. Click Remove button in confirmation window.
But if you still want to have your accounts connected, please note that all events that are from both accounts will be in the Calendar App.
Please perform these recommended steps, review the additional information provided and post back if you are still experience the issue. I will be glad to provide you with additional options available that you can utilize to get this resolved.

Have a Toshiba laptop running Windows 7 Home Premium with service pack 1 64 Bit

Everything will be fine then for facebook and facebook only I can't connect to facebook and when I diagnose connection issues I get that Facebook.com is online but not responding. if you ghost over you get a message that it may be your firewall and port 443 but my firewall is configured to allow facebook access through that port. Once it happens it does not matter if I'm using Internet Explorer, or Google Chrome. The funny thing is, I can still access it on my nook, but frankly have you ever tried playing a game on a small nook screen?

I've run virus programs, disconnected and rebooted my clear wireless network, and it just does not let me in till the next day on the laptop. Frankly it's getting tiring and I don't have the patience for this to continue nor the ability to keep configuring different fixes.

Other webpages work fine, it only does this to facebook.

A:Facebook.com is online but not responding

What happens when you type facebook.com into your browser? Do you get a connection timed out or page could not load? If so:

You can try removing all of the cache from Internet Explorer.
- Open IE
- In the top right hand corner, there is a tools icon
- Select that and then choose Internet Options
- On the general tab, select Delete under Browsing History
- Make sure the following are selected:
- temporary internet files and website files
- cookies and website data
- history
- NOTE: This will remove all of your browsing history and such from Internet Explorer
- Close Internet Explorer, reopen it, and then try again.

If that doesn't work, you can try removing DNS cache:
- Hit the windows logo key + R at the same time
- type cmd and hit enter
- in the black box that appears, type ipconfig /flushdns
- Restart computer and then try again

After my Facebook account was diabled I got an email from Facebook security that my account was compromised by Cybercriminals. The day before, a few friends got emails from my account saying I was stranded in a foriegn land and requesting money....

I have Norton Internet Security, but I tried to get an external scan, per Facebook security instructions and Kaspersky, Panda and Trend Micro online scanners won't run, either Java based or via Browser add on.

I tried using a different Administrator account and also booting in Safe Mode with Networking. None worked.

Does this mean there is a compromise on my system?

Hi, just as of yesterday morning I've been unable to access Facebook on all of my browsers, that is including Firefox, IE, and Google Chrome.

Just before this happened I had 2 random windows system updates that logged me off without warning, which has got me thinking that it had something to do with this.

I've done every solution possible, read every thread in this forum about this problem, that is including flushing dns, checking hosts file, adware cleaner, virus scan, malwarebytes, all of it. It's driving me crazy.

What exactly happens is this:
It loads for about 2-3 minutes, then finally loads and shows up with just the blue bar. I have no idea why its doing this and would love if someone knew what was going on. Please help!

I am also on windows 7, if that helps.

Hi All ?

I have two issues with Windows 8 Pro 64-bit that I cannot fix even though I have spent already many hours searching the net and have followed many of the suggestions offered. The pc wakes almost every night and frequently freezes at restart ? not every single time, but more often than not, and I?ll have to switch the power off and on and then the pc will boot normally.

I have so far not been able to find anything in Task Manager that could wake the pc and or fix the occasional freezing on restart.

I would be grateful for any suggestions of howto fix these issues.

Many thanks in advance.

Greetings, folks.

Here's what I've got...

ASUS A8N-SLI Premium (current BIOS 1007.002 BETA)
2x OCZ EL DDR400 PC3200 Platinum Dual Channel 2gb (2x 1GB)
2x BFG nVidia 7800 GTX OC
2x WD Raptor 74GB in RAID 0 (nVidia RAID)

Plextor 716AL DVD
Audigy 2Zs Platinum

Windows XP (sp2)

So, I'm having a couple of interesting issues. First and foremost, the MB will not POST with 4 sticks of memory, either with the (non-QVL) OCZ 1GB sticks or the (QVL) Corsair Value Select 512MB sticks. I relaxed the memory timings with two sticks to 3-4-4-8, (2T) and still no POST with 4 sticks.

-> tried popping the CMOS battery and resetting it, starting with 2 sticks working up to 4.
-> tried 1 to 3 sticks with no problem.
-> tried manually setting memeory timings, both tight and relaxed.
-> tried 2 kinds of memory
-> tried BIOS version 1005, and BETA 1007.002

The second problem is that I can't get the nVidia Control Panel to give me the SLI option. I spent a couple hours with a BFG tech support guy, and we tried just about everything. I stripped out everything from the system, installed one card at a time, set the BIOS to Single Card, installed the second card, set the BIOS to Dual Card... nothing. Device manager recognizes two 7800s, but SLI section of the display control panel indicates that I need to uninstall the "non-compatible" GPU before activating SLI. A:ASUS MB and SLI Issues, anyone else solve these yet?

do not use all four ram slots at once or max out the system ram capacity. doing so would lead to slow and unreliable memory operation. your best bet is to use 2 of the slots for a dual channel ddr configuration.

as for your sli situation...you are going to need to do some things befoer sli is ever going to work. these steps can be found in your motherboard's manual and they vary from board to board. you are also going to need to make sure the two graphics cards are identical, as sli will fail otherwise.

Windows 7 keeps insisting me that I have a problem with Kasperski Anti Virus and the only solution available is to download the latest version. Well, that is all fine and dandy but, the main problem here is... I DON'T HAVE KASPERSKI INSTALLED.

Why is it telling me this if I never installed it, unless of course, Windows 7 already comes pre installed with it? Windows Defender perhaps is ran by Kasperski?.

How do I get rid of this?

I always run Avast as my anti virus, never kasperski or any other AV... totally bogus and annoying to say the least.

A:Solve PC Issues Option...

Interesting, not seen that one before - as far as I am aware Defender is an In-house Microsoft creation, but I may be wrong.

If I remember correctly if you select no on the lower options it will provide a feedback option which you could use to inform MS of their error here.

Not a solution I know but at least if a lot of people suffer the same issue reporting it may prompt a cure

Hi, I recently came across a few issues but have been unable to fix them, I came across the issues when trying to install linux on a second partition.

The issue I noticed first is the failure to find a grdl.mbr file so the install of linux failed. I then noticed that the option to unsecure the boot loader was missing from the bios setup.

From then I tried to create a repair disc to get an error and also tried to make a backup but get an error 0x81000037 a shadow copy message.

So I'm unable to create a repair disc, unable to make a backup to both dvd and usb / harddrive and then the missing bootloader mbr file.

If tried using HP tools to make a backup but it just hangs and hangs on making a repair disc too, I've done an sfc scan with no errors, ran anti virus and anti malware scan to find nothing & check the registry to find nothing other than old program data which I removed to get all the same issues.

Sort of scratching my head here as every attempt to solve one specific issue leads to another.

Unfortunately, with the OS swap done I'm realizing I'm over my head dealing with it. I don't know what to do next, hoping you guys can help.

I have the Windows7_BSOD_jcgriff2 folder & the PERFMON zipped up and attached.

The computer was built by a tech I know a couple years ago. Everything is that old.

1GB Kingston Ram (was running 2G but they are not matched. memtest came back ok so I tried using just one, then just the other, hoping to solve it with no luck).
Dual Core Pentium D 2.8G
Win 7 Pro 32 bit
NVidia GeForce 8400 GS vid card
WD 150G SATA drive

If I left anything out, it may be in my user profile, or just ask and I'll do my best to answer. Any help on this would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

-ddk

edit: Thanks for TEWS for pointing out I screwed up adding the dmp files in the BSOD info zip. The perfmon html should still be there, and I'm adding the dmp files to this original post as well as post 3. Sorry for the screw up.

Facebook is making users sign up for new privacy policy that allows it to track users everywhere on the Internet
This is really bad news for privacy lovers.  Facebook has just updated its privacy policy which allows Facebook to track you, the Facebook user activity even after you have left Facebook website to surf other pages. And more over you have already agreed to it without realizing it.
Facebooks new policy allows it to gather data about you, from across the internet. This is in addition to the normal data it generally gathers when you post something or add friends to your network.  The new privacy policy has such provisions that, Facebook now pass this information with its subsidiaries like WhatsApp and Instagram.
Readers may not know that Facebook had already announced the new privacy policy last November but it is being implemented from Friday.  You may be surprised as to why Facebook did not notify you, but it so happens that you are deemed to have agreed to the new policy once you log into Facebook.
Facebook management says that the new policy will help it tabulate data which can be used to serve precision adverts to the users and avoid serving unwanted information to them.

Hi!

My computer is having a lot of trouble booting and I get a BSOD ?message: memory management? from time to time. I'm running Windows 10. I?m looking for a way to fix this and my idea was to change the RAM and/ or CPU, since it would be a shame to throw the whole thing away. But first I would like to be sure that this would actually solve the problem.

Do you think that my troubles are caused by a hardware malfunctioning? If so, will changing any of the parts help?

my W10 suddenly is not able to wake up from sleep or from hibernation now. It was working perfectly a few days before, but now after putting it to sleep/hibernate, when I wake it up, it just restarts.

All opened programs and web sites need to be restarted after w10 is finally running.

Does any one already faced something like that and know how to solve it?

Additionally, my wifi keeps turning itself off. I need to restart my pc always to make it functionally again. All drivers updated. It really pisses me off...

Finally, an issue I have since I acquired my new pc with w8.1: the buttons on my touchpad does not work at all!! I tried to update the drivers, uninstalled old ones, but nothing solved this issue. I have an ASUS G751JT here....

If any help is possible with these issues, I would be very appreciated.

Hi guys, if I have a pc that I'm pretty sure is infected and also is just not running clean & smooth. What are the odds that a FORMAT and re-install of all software would resolve all those issues?

Does that in fact wipe out all the possible trojans & viruses that may be in there?

I appreciate any help on this one.

Thank you in advance,
jcarissimo

A:Format & Re-install Software - solve all issues?

A reformat should wipe all data, but if you restore any files, they might be infected. It's usually a good idea to scan all files you will restore for viruses and trojans. Note that the slowdown can also occur if there are a number of background processes running.

The problem lies with facebook and their connections with the apps your trying to use. Unfortunately their tech support will not tell you that they are broke and as will all software companies tell you, it is you and your computer, it is not you or your laptop.
All the internet stuff that goes on makes it impossible to get 100% reliability.
Their attitude is "IF IT WORKS FIX IT". Below is a list of some of the people, software and links you have to deal with.
your isp
hub link to facebook
facebook
facebook links
app software provider
app software server
and also remember all the back tracing they are doing slowes you down, times you out and breaks connections.

Hello/Hallo wuschel93, exactly what I had. Shutdown issue apprears only after some time running the notebook. The problem is INTEL MANAGEMEN ENGINE V.11 RELATED! I fixed it with uninstalling Intel Management Engine Version 11. Windows will install then version 9.5 automaticly. After that I disabled automatic driver update for this device. You can also install 9.5 without uninstalling the old one, it wil be overwritten. Other manufactures also have this problem, but while Acer is still sleeping, they provide a solution (including download links): http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Operating-Systems-and-Software/Sleep-and-Shutdown-issues-after... Maybe there are some other issues that result in the same problem. But in most of the cases this is the answer. The thread starter maybe forgot to disable automatic driver update or did the installation of v9.5 wrong?   Tepco

Hey all, I'm using Dropbox and I've got 5GB of storage. Whenever I plug in my digital camera Dropbox automatically imports all the videos and photos I take. The videos are taking up far too much space, more than 500MB for most videos. By the way, how can I tell Dropbox to only import image files?

I just noticed that Dropbox has 100GB for $10 a month. What are other services like?

Is there another large company with a higher storage count that people could recommend?

What do users on here use as their cloud solution?

Thank you!

A:Best online cloud solution?

Hey guys, I should have said this in my first post: I really don't need 100GB. Even 12-15GB would be enough for me. I really like how Dropbox automatically uploads the photos and videos to Dropbox as soon as I plug in my camera. Does Google do this as well?

Those are basically my needs: 15GB of storage and automatic upload to the cloud when I plug my camera in.

Thanks for any help!

I would like to back up my photos and some other files online somewhere but the prices look quite high.

There are quite a few web hosts (Hostgator etc) that offer unlimited space hosting packages, could something like this work as a way to allow be to upload my files somewhere? Or am I being niaive?

I have about 30 GB of photos and counting so Dropbox won't cut it for me!

Can anyone help me with a low cost solution for backing up these photos?

Thanks!

Was setting up a new backup system and was running into access issues. Since everything was set properly, thought, well, I'll just dump the HomeGroup and set up a new one. Solved the access issue, but now, my 64 bit machine sees the 2 32 bit machines, but they don't see it (they do see each other). No problem accessing shares through the network tree and all show correctly in full network map, but I can't get either 32 bit to see the 64 in HomeGroup. (They all showed prior to redoing the Homegroup)

Any ideas?

A:Helps needed to solve redirect issues on Google Chrome

Hi,

Please do the following:

Download ComboFix from one of the following locations:
Link 1
Link 2

VERY IMPORTANT !!! Save ComboFix.exe to your Desktop

* IMPORTANT - Disable your AntiVirus and AntiSpyware applications, usually via a right click on the System Tray icon. They may otherwise interfere with our tools. If you have difficulty properly disabling your protective programs, refer to this link here Double click on ComboFix.exe & follow the prompts.
As part of it's process, ComboFix will check to see if the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console is installed. With malware infections being as they are today, it's strongly recommended to have this pre-installed on your machine before doing any malware removal. It will allow you to boot up into a special recovery/repair mode that will allow us to more easily help you should your computer have a problem after an attempted removal of malware.
Follow the prompts to allow ComboFix to download and install the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console, and when prompted, agree to the End-User License Agreement to install the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console.
**Please note: If the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console is already installed, ComboFix will continue it's malware removal procedures.

Once the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console is installed using ComboFix, you should see the following message:
Click on Yes, to continue scanning for malware.
When finished, it shall produce a log... Read more

Well, i've been thinking. I'm curious, do I have to have a controller for raid? I don't even know what a contorlelr is, but i keep reading something about them.. Can I not just have a raid setup with two harddrives, and an IDE cable? What's the basics of setting it up? I've saw the sticky at the top of the last page, and I decided if I could do it, I'd set it up in Raid 0. I don't need data backup, really don't care for it. Let me know, thanks in advance. this forum=thesh!t.

Lately, I'm using many different services (as long as they're safe) to store everything I can online to get my laptop and somehow my house, well lighter. I am quite sure I'm not the only one, but I'm curious to know what do you use to backup your data.
Here's my list of my favourite ones so far:
evernote but mostly as a bookmark tool
dropbox, googledrive and skydrive for photos, docs or work stuff
unioncy recenlty found, where I moved my products documentation like warranties and receipts

Any suggestion? Do you use something different I can try out?

I have an old Win98 laptop that supposedly supports USB 2.0, but either the jack is hosed or some subtle driver problem exists that prevents me from using any USB device on it, including an external storage device. The laptop is on my home network, but I no longer remember the Windows login password, so I am not really able to connect or share files with another computer. It does not have the ability to write CD's, either. I do have Internet connectivity via a cable modem (wireless router, though the laptop is connected via an ethernet cable). So, I would like to find an easy to use online storage website where I can upload about 100 Mb of files and then download them onto another computer. I tried one service, but they seem to starting zipping up the files as they are being uploaded and I had disconnections throughout the process (I don't believe that it was my problem) and it basically did not work for me. Sorry for the longwinded inquiry, but can anyone suggest a good online file storage service that works and is reliable, etc.?

Or is there another way to move these files that I am not thinking of?

A:Online Temp Storage Solution

Too bad its Windows 98. Mozy Home seems to do exactly what you need.

Here is a list of some others, a few of which are free. XDrive looks promising except that I couldn't find OS requirements: http://davie.wordpress.com/2006/06/30/couchsurfingcom-goes-down-but-a-lesson-learned/

If you are just looking for a place to dump files and not a true 'backup solution' then I think it gets quite a bit easier. http://www.listible.com/list/online-file-storage

Hello members,
I know this topic is super common, so I'm directly starting with my problem.
As mentioned in the title, non of the solution online worked to show that stupid Windows 10 upgrade icon. I have verified every single perquisite 10 times. Running Windows 8.1 Pro, purchased personally as a genuine CD. Yes, my Windows is genuine.
Next, I verified some stuff. Here is my report:-

1) GWX folder exists in System32 folder. It got all of its content.

2) Trying to launch from the GWX folder gave no results although it was running in the task manager. By default, I don't see the app running in the task manager.

3) GWX's registry is missing. Screenshot below.
4) GWX's Schedule tasks are present but for GWXTrigger, its empty. Screenshot below.
5) All the Windows Updates are installed, even the optional once. No, I don't see the upgrade notice of Windows 10 in the Windows Update either.

Thanks,
Waiting,
HDash

A:No GWX Icon, No solution online worked

Hi,

Yes you're not the onlyone what happens if you open a command prompt (right click => run as administrator) and

c:\Windows\System32\GWX\GWXConfigManager.exe /RefreshConfig (enter)
c:\Windows\System32\GWX\GWX.exe /taskLaunch (enter)

For that message to go away you must have Windows Update set to automatically download and install updates.

I have a Media Sharing problem. Up until a few days ago I could stream files from my PC to my Xbox360 through WMP11 (I am running Vista Ultimate Home Edition 64bit SP2).

I have the error message on the WMP: "Media sharing has been turned off because a required Windows setting or component has changed. For additional assistance, click Web Help." The Web Help link sends me here where I discovered the origin of the problem:

http://www.microsoft.com/windows/wi...id=C00D0FF4&contextid=233&originalid=C00D0FF4

I have completed everything until Step 5 (part 3)

Navigate to the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\MediaPlayer\Preferences\HME\[security ID] subkey. The name text of the security ID folder is long, composed of alphanumeric characters broken up with dashes.

When I navigate to the appropriate location there is nothing in my "HME" folder. No [Security ID] Subkey, no alphanumeric characters...nothing. I am supposed to access the Permissions of the security ID folder and confirm my user account is listed as the owner of this subkey on the Security tab, but I can not.

I believe a total re-install of Vista would solve this since WMP is built into the OS, but I don't have an install disc and I really would hate to do that regardless.

The CMD: sfc /scannow does not repair the file. Neither does the MicrosoftFixit.WinMediaPlayer.Run.exe program. It's not possible to re-install WMP since the version I have is newer than the version the Mi... Read more
