Blue Screen Error: "UNEXPECTED STORE EXCEPTION" and 2101 Detection error on SSD (M.2)

Q: Blue Screen Error: "UNEXPECTED STORE EXCEPTION" and 2101 Detection error on SSD (M.2)

Hi: I have an X1 Extreme 1st Gen (20MF): I get an BSOD every 1-2 weeks (UNEXPECTED STORE EXCEPTION), which is sometimes (not always) followed by a "2101 Detection error on SSD (M.2)" error at reboot. I reinstalled Windows 10 from the scratch already, but no help. Any idea how to troubleshoot this issue? Thanks!

Preferred Solution: Blue Screen Error: "UNEXPECTED STORE EXCEPTION" and 2101 Detection error on SSD (M.2)

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I bought my P43s about 2 months ago, I added 16 GB of RAM and a Crucial P1 1TB NVME M.2 SSD to the laptop. After a month of regular use, I started getting the following error: 2101: Detection error on HDD0 (Main HDD).  Here is the troubleshooting that I have done:- Checked the SSD to ensure it is well position into its connection.- Updated the Bios.- I thought the issue was due to a faulty SSD but after I put the original SSD back in and returned the Crucial SSD, it still got the error. Now I am really not sure what the issue is. Is anyone having a similar issue? Could it be a problem in the miniSATA connection? Thanks

Model: T450sEquiped as:Intel i54+4GB RAM256GB SSD (M.2) Configured as boot disk running Win 7 x64500GB HDD as additional storage Issue:Seemingly at random, approx once every one to two weeks while PC is on and at the desktop but not actively being used (meaning no user is sitting in front of it performing tasks) it will error and crash.  The error is a black screen with the following error: 2101: Detection error on SSD1 (M.2) Press Esc to continue. According to the user Esc does nothing and the only escape is to long press the physical power button until a power down occurs.  On reboot the system comes up without issue.  No user has actually seen the crash take place.   MY QUESTION(S):1st.  Is this most likely an issue with the T450s not being able to reliably boot from the m.2 slot or is this more likely an issue with the SSD installed in the m.2 slot?2nd.  Is this something altogether different?  Any (knowledgeable) advice or info appreciated.

A:T450s Thinkpad - ERROR 2101: Detection error on SSD1 (M.2)

It is hard to diagnose without seeing it, but my experience has been that the Gen4 and later CPUs (like yours) support a very low power state that is incompatible with some devices. (that would make it a problem with the card) Make sure you have the latest BIOS and power manager software installed. Look in the device manager and find the M.2 SSD. There should be a power management tab. Turn off the option to allow the system shut the device off to save energy.

I get the following message when I turn on the laptop: 2101: Detection error on SSD (M.2) The laptop (T560) is new and was only received on the 13 May 2016.  When it occurs I run thediagnostics and can usually get the machine to boot up. However, the error then reoccurs at a later stage, usually if the machine has been idle for a while.  I have lodged a service call with Lenovo but thought I would share my experience here and see if anyone else has the same issue?

My X1 Yoga with a 512 GB hard drive just started getting the "2101 Detection error on SSD (M.2)" on boot.  When I am able to get it to boot it stays up for 10-30 minutes, then freezes and/or reboots. I have seen numerous postings in this forum and elsewhere but no definitive description or solution. Lenovo support refuses to answer any questions as the laptop is out of warranty. This is clearly a defect and KNOWN to Lenovo - yet I cannot find any resources to help solve the problem.  How is that even possible? If this is not addressed by Lenovo this will be my very last purchase from them. Does ANYONE have concrete information as to what this problem is and how to fix it? thanks

Hi,

I keep encountering the blue screen of death once every day. It does not matter what I am doing. It has happened when I play games, and it has happened when my computer is idle. The computer will freeze for about 10 seconds and then the BSOD will appear. The error code is: Unexpected Store Exception.

After that, the computer reboots to a black screen which asks me to choose a bootable device, but pressing any key does not do anything and I am forced to manually reboot by holding down the power button on my computer. Once I have done this, the computer reboots just fine. The error will not occur again until the next day.

Please help, and thanks! JUSTIN-PC-Fri_09_16_2016__01157_30.zip

This is less than 1 week old X1 Extreme Gen2. I had to repair my ideapad 530s three times and wasted so much time on that so I thought let's try "professional" instead of "media" laptop. I reused my Crucial 1TB NVME SSD that was working just fine in ideapad and stuck it in X1. What I'm seeing in X1 are random freezes, parts of the drive not being accessible, whole drive not being accessible and finally 2101 boot errors. What I tried so far: made sure all drivers are up to date, swapping SSDs in the two slots (stock Intel 256GB with Crucial 1TB), using 1TB drive with external USB-C caddy and placing the 1TB drive back into ideapad. SSD works perfectly fine when out of X1 and creates the same errors regardless of where I place it inside the X1. I also tried some third party drive health check utilities, they all said the drive is fine and Lenovo's boot utility/system checker said the same as well. EDIT: I also tried changing Lenovo power saving plan so that disk never goes to sleep if laptop is plugged in. Another thing I also noticed is that every time I will plug in or out either power cable or headphone jack the screen will go black for a second or two, as if I was connecting an external monitor. Not sure what is going on with this machine. I'm trying to backup data right now and I type this on ideapad. Is there anything I can try before I return this laptop? After struggling with this fault on my T430 for many years, and reading (almost) all there is on the interwebz, I'm disappointed to see many laptops are affected by it and Lenovo hasn't (so far) given out an official word on the subject (apart from installing Express Cache on Windows 7). I understand the problem is specific to Lenovo and due to BIOS, not hardware. Apparently a few have had this problem despite not having an msata drive which is strange... This is an attempt at summarizing the experience and stop-gap solutions until (hopefully) Lenovo can say/ do something about it My specs.T430 Core i7 3840QM (mod). Discrete graphics with latest BIOS v. 2.82. 16 GB RAM, FHD (mod). Hi.  I have a T430s (original owner). At boot-up, I receive a "2101: Detection error on HDD2 (mini sata)", BUT I don't use a Mini SATA!! Windows 10; All drivers current via Lenovo system update (incl. bios 2.69).I have a Crucial SSD drive; I have verified Crucial SSD has latest firmware.I do not have (and have not had) a Mini SATA card installed - this is why the error is so weird to me.I DID recently change the Wifi Switch and cable (which is when the error started showing)The wires that would feed the Mini SSD are still covered with tape from the factory (I forget the colors)I have removed the battery, internal battery and power (and rebooted).  I have reseated the SSD and the DVD drive (and rebooted).I do not have Express software installed; the software that would control the Mini SATA drive (I can't see any "express" software in Add / Remove programs) Can you help me with this annoying mystery?

Two of the three (at least) ppoint to memory (memory exceptiosn) as the cause.

Download a copy of Memtest86 and burn the ISO to a CD using Iso Recorder or another ISO burning program. Boot from the CD, and leave it running for at least 5 or 6 passes.

I've been getting this BSOD, usually once every 1-2 days. When my computer reboots, it sometimes says that boot drive cannot be found. Once I turn off my computer for a few seconds and turn it on again, it boots normally. I've tried searching for solutions, but the error seems very widespread and not due to any single cause. I had a bigger hard drive installed on my ThinkPad T550. I decided to do this because a big Windows 10 update could not be installed because the original hard drive was full. After this I started getting crashes, either the HDD0 detection error or a blue screen. I took the laptop back to the technician a couple of times, he first removed the foil that had been around the original drive, then added it back etc. At some point I ran CCleaner and let it remove all the files it found. This seemed to have resolved the issue. Today, which is a couple of weeks after I first ran CCleaner, I suddenly got the HDD0 crash again. When I restarted the computer, there was a big Windows 10 update waiting. I installed it, but the computer kept crashing. I then ran CCleaner again. It found a dozen files to removed, for Edge, IE etc. (which I don't use). I let it remove those files and  since then the computer has been stable again. I lost a lot of time because of this error and presumed it was caused by a hardware issue, but it turns out it was simply a Windows 10 update problem. I hope this solution helps someone!

Hi there @Joseph84?,  Thank you for visiting the HP Support Forums and Welcome! This is a great site to get answers and ask questions. I have looked into the issue you had mentioned in your post on the HP Support Forums. I understand that you are receiving a Blue Screen that says Your PC ran into a problem and needs to restart. We're just collecting some error info and will restart it for you on your HP Envy Notebook PC.  Here is a document I found called Computer Does Not Start (Windows 10).  Have you tried performing a hard reset?Have you tried to do a Hardware Test? Can you boot into Safe Mode?Is there a specific error code? Here is a document called Error Messages Display on a Blue Screen during Startup or Boot (Windows 10, 8, 7). This specific document is used if the computer stops responding and displays a blue screen. Have you tried to update the Graphics drivers? Have you done any Windows Updates? If you boot into the Notebook, please update your drivers. You can do that at your HP Software and Downloads page for your specific Notebook or use the link to the HP Support Assistant (if you don't already have HP Support Assistant). Just download and run the application and it will help with the software and drivers on your system that need updating. Please let me know if I answered your question by clicking the 'Thumbs up' if the troubleshooting steps in this post resolved the issue for ... Hi,

We've had our share of BSOD's in the company, most of them were solved by installing the newest drivers from the support site. There are still some laptops however, that get frequent BSOD's (4 a day on average).
The laptop is a Dell E5550, newest drivers & bios update. I've run the command sfc /scannow; after the scan was completed, it showed that there were errors but none could be fixed. I copied the log, so if someone would be kind enough to take a look at it? I'd be much obliged.
Also I don't know if I can run the dism / restorehealth command, because we have our own image on the laptops, and I if I understand correctly this replaces the current image with a default Windows image? Or does it only extract the files needed to repair?

Hello,

Starting last week my computer started making problems, since wednesday it crashed every 10-40 minutes giving me the bluescreen error "unexpected store exception" and rarely sometimes "Memory management" in the wednesday morning i saw that theres a new windows update aviable so after a few BSODs i decided to update windows, the update changed nothing, i checked for new drivers, installed a new driver for my graphic card, no changes, i googled for the problem and found the solution to turn off fast startup, turned it off, still got bluescreens, i ran memtest and chkdsk, no errors found, i checked for fragmentation of my hard drives, C was 5 % fragmented, i defragmented it, no changes.

Because i suspected a RAM problem i went into the Bios and checked how the ram is adressed, i found out that the Ram is adressed with a lower clock and voltage than it is recomended by the manufacturer, the timings were wrong to, i fixed that, noticed that the ram workload got down, but the bluescreens continued

Then i found bleepingcomputers and looked trough the bluescreen section, i ran memtest86+ as described here https://www.sysnative.com/forums/hardware-tutorials/3909-test-ram-memtest86.html#post28391 , it ran 12 hours strait for 14 passes and found no errors, then i ran seatools as described here https://www.sysnative.com/forums/hardware-tutorials/4072-hard-drive-hdd-diagnostics.html it abortet one long test after 3 hours, restarted it, did a new long test and i... Hi there, Iím having a problem when I try to install the Virgin Media Hub to add internet security to my pc. I have taken some screen shots from my pc to show you what Iím dealing with. (See below)
Code:
An unexpected error has occurred that this application cannot recover from. It will now close.
Code:

[FONT=Times New Roman][SIZE=3]Exception Code: 3221225477[/SIZE][/FONT]
[FONT=Times New Roman][SIZE=3]Exception Address: 77C46FA3[/SIZE][/FONT]

I have done a lot of research on search engines about this error and a lot of people are saying it is something to do with the start up registries and that one of my previous programs hasnít been uninstalled successfully Ė even though I have deleted all files I could find about my previous internet security programs.

So, if they are correct about the start up registries being wrong I tested it and unticked everything from the start up registry. (Displayed in the image below)

I rebooted my pc and still had no luck when trying to install the virgin media program and I am still stuck with the same error.

I called up virgin media but they said the problem is on my side.

Any help would be great!

I own a Dell Inspiron 3521 laptop. In the very first month I started getting a blue screen and fatal error UNEXPECTED STORE EXCEPTION. There is no error code.

Dell support replaced the hard disk and then for a few months the error did not occur. Again I'm facing the same issue after warranty has expired.

I upgraded to windows 10.

Now, This is happening too often and I lose the work that is unsaved. Please help.

I don't remember seeing actual BSODs caused by a Store situation.  But since it seems to be happening, can you put the dump file on your OneDrive and give us a link?
We might be able to gain some insight into the situation.
If someone were to suggest you do a Clean install of Win 10, would you consider it?  I assume there are Win 10 drivers for that system?  Is there a Win 10 Recovery image available for download?

Ive just bought some new memory (TWIN2X4096-8500C5C G), the new memory doesnt seem to work unless I only add one stick, and even with that I get blue screen errors.

So from reading a few pages on teh internet I put my old memory back in, and ran windows driver verifier. Upon restarting I got and keep getting teh following BSOD.

IO SYSTEM VERIFICATION ERROR in wmiacpi.sys (WDM driver error 20e)

[wmiacpi.sys+152f at B7C5C52F]

A:Blue Screen IO Error. Verification Error In Wmiacpi.sys (WMD Driver Error 20e)

If the system ran fine...before you added RAM...then you need to see if the new RAM (by itself)...works.The new RAM may not be compatible with your old RAM, in which case the system will run fine with one or the other...but not both. The Driver Verifier tool is tricky to use, I would disregard that effort...for the moment.Remove your old RAM...put the new RAM in...see if the system works properly.FWIW: http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/t/153175/blue-screen-io-error-verification-error-in-wmiacpisys-wmd-driver-error-20e/Louis

I have run the Dell diagnostic and everything passed.
This is a Dell laptop latitude D531. Dell just replaced the hard drive about 10 days ago. It worked fine until Monday.

Any any what this may be?

A:Blue Screen Io Error. Verification Error In Wmiacpi.sys (wmd Driver Error) 20e

Are you sure of the spelling of the 2nd file name? If so, Google doesn't give any results for it - which is suspicious. The first file name ( wmiacpi.sys ) is a Windows file that's used to help manage the ACPI settings in your system. http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/filedb/wmiacpi.sys-7763.htmlA BSOD error will usually point to the file that the error occured in, but this may not be the source of the error. Here's a link on how to find more info about the BSOD message: http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/top...tml#entry409491Once you locate the .dmp files for the event, you can use this link to generate an analysis of the dump for us to have a look at ( http://forums.majorgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=35246 )

Hello there, I've see a lot of people getting error 2101 with an M.2 SSD on the Lenovo T4XX series but no real answer to fix this problem.Actually I got an T440s AR20 motherbard with an unused M.2 slot. I've buy a Transcend 512Go SATA III 6Gb/s MTS430S 42 mm M.2 SSD 430S Solid State Drive TS512GMTS430S and migrated my Windows 10 OS with AOMEI. Almost two hours after the migration a 2101 error occured. I've tried to update the BIOS, installed Transcend tool, tried a lot of tricks founded with a quick google search but nothing fixed it. Please can someone tell me what to do. I really need more storage and I've used the SATA SSD (128Go) to install three Linux distributions. I cant rollback my Windows to the old SSD. Thank you for your reply.

I have a X260 with a Samsung 850 EVO SSD installed connected to the normal SATA cable. Recently, the system ran down in hibernate or sleep mode until the battery was completely drained. The next time I started it up, Iwas presented with an immediate error after the logo of "2101 Detection error on SSD(M.2)". Booting into BIOSor UEFI diagnostics doesn't show any options for diagnosing the SSD. What is odd is there is no M.2 SSD. ?Right nowI am traveling and don't have a SATA-USB cable or another drive to try, but is there any possibility this is something other than my SSD failing completely? System does not boot. Things I have tried already: Reseating the SATA cable, Resetting BIO S to default settings, "Power Cycling" the SSD. All checks in UEFI diagnostics pass.

Hi to all,

Around 5 days ago, some sort of error, cropped up while installation of Kaspersky Anti Virus on my laptop, and after that everytime, I turned the system on, I faced the blue screen error.

Then, i formatted my laptop and reinstalled Windows XP. It was running fine for two days. Suddenly, it started giving error "Logonui.exe application error" at startup displaying something similar to "The instruction at '0x0037149c' referenced memory" something.. It had to buttons - Cancel (for debugging) and Ok.. I pressed cancel/ok/close button. It always cropped up. Until after a series of pressing buttons, my log on screen came. After logging in, all my icons and taskbar gone. So, i opened Windows Task Manager and run "explorer.exe". After everything came up, Some Data Execution Prevention error cropped up. Whenever i tried clicking "Close Message", it always came up again with a separate window for the "Send Error Report to Microsoft" dialog box.

Whenever I connected to internet, the link under my Internet started blinking very fast. I even left it without any internet application open, but it still went on. I saw the properties window of my connection. It went on and on. And in return, everything went slow. Internet surfing and downloading. And one major problem occurred that, whenever I leave my internet open for a short while, it shows the blue screen of error and restarts.

I thought of formatting every drive ... Read more

A:System Error: Cat:(102) Event: 1003 - Blue Screen Error frequently.

At first sight this could be the result of a windows update messing with a driver, or possibly a recent driver update. Have you tried going back on a recent driver update or possible a system restore to see if this cures it? The trouble with intermittent BSDs like this is that it can take an age to check!
