Q: Internal battery not detected

My original battery stopped being detected so I ordered a new battery and the new battery is getting the same message. The battery is internal so I can't just pop it out.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hoping this problem will be noticed by more people, the original post on this issue came from:https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/Linux-Discussion/T470-Linux-Power-Bridge-wrong-discharge-order/td-p/365...https://www.reddit.com/r/thinkpad/comments/63odjr/t470_battery_order_question_internal_discharges/ Brief description: same problem with OS including Win 10, Ubuntu 16.04, Gentoo etc. The internal battery always gets discharged first regardless its remaining power, which is generally harmless but seems not so good for the internal battery life. With my own T470 machine, updated with the latest 1.29 BIOS, this problem remains. According to searching results online, this little bug came with early versions of X's and T' including T460. PS: this issue had been successfully fixed with T460 via BIOS update 1.26, hoping it would be fixed with T470 sooner or later. Best regards.

After a round of Windows updates, I went to turn on my laptop and recieved the "Primary internal battery (601)" error.  After this screen, however, Windows would not load.  I have tried taking the battery out and 'draining the charge',  and starting up the computer plugged directly to AC with no battery.  Windows still does not load.  The start-up test in the diagnostics menu said the battery needed calibration, however when I go to run the battery test, it gets to "waiting for battery to charge" and exits out of the test without giving me any results at all.  Currently when turning on the computer I no longer get the "primary internal battery" error, it just goes directly to a black screen with blinking cursor.  Any help is appreciated, I'm completely at a loss here!

Hi everyone, Title says it all, I know this topic of discharging internal battery first has been brought up a lot, and that the reason behind it is this: The T470s are designed to drain the battery with least wear first so as to degrade both batteries equally and prolong the laptop's overall battery life. However, as I'm using a new 61++ battery, clearly somethig is going wrong somewhere as the year old internal battery cannot be in better condition than the brand new external.https://gyazo.com/6c12f3f40514599d04d852a8589189ab Any ideas? Thanks!

My original 9 cell Lenovo battery pack dropped from 3 hrs to 2 hrs capacity after a couple of years. So when it stopped working, "battery not detected", I thought it was forced into retirement due to low capacity. In fact I opened the pack and all cells were unexpectedly within millivolts and were good to at least 2 Ah. I get an aftermarket 9 cell pack, and it arrives with zero volts. eBay seller quickly sends me another. But the W540 cannot detect it. I order two 6 cell packs from two other vendors. None are detected by the W540.So it strikes me maybe there is something wrong with the connector, and not that the handshakes had failed by these aftermarket manufacturers. Lo and behold, the two positive pins on the laptop were bent, and so was the plastic tongue. It turns out that you can gently force in the battery and hear the double click of the lock, and due to misalignment, normal insertion would bend the pins. No connection will be established if the male pins on the laptop are bent. After straightening them, which breaks the plastic tongue guide, I was able to insert the battery and the battery is now recognized. So if you get a "battery not detected" error, before suspecting the cells or the pack, you may want to check the male connector pins on the laptop and make sure they are all straight. Also check the female connector on the pack as that can be bent, or the female connector pushed into the pack. I believe the alignment of the battery connector is a bit off with res... Read more

Hello!

I bought new original Toshiba battery for my M800-107, since my old one has lost a half of its capacity. The problem is, when I plugged this new battery in Win7 says "Battery connected, No charging" and after that "No Battery Is Detected". When I unplug AC, laptop works, but when I plug it in again, still no charging (no existence of the battery). The red battery charging led is blinking, when AC is unplugged, lighting when AC connected. I have tried everything I found on the internet to solve this problem, but nothing worked :-(

I also tried Ubuntu to see if Win is the problem, but the same problem occured.

I have bios v. 5.00.

Don't you know any solution? Maybe - new BIOS if there was any newer?

Thanks in advance.

Can Lenovo explain why they have this policy that once the cells in a Lenovo battery pack drops below a certain capacity (about 80% to 85%), the pack electronics remembers that and then "destroys" the pack by refusing to handshake with the laptop -- so the laptop will no longer recognize the pack?  And replacing the cells or charging the cells will not bring the pack to life as the electronics will continue to refuse the handshake, even with new cells.  This makes the pack unrepairable and forces a purchase of a new pack from Lenovo, way before necessary? Measuring the cells of the pack, I find that the three cells in series register 10.48 volts which is about 3.5 volts for each cell (yes all nine were both capacity and voltage balanced within 1%).  This is way above a cell cutoff voltage of 3.0 volts (or 3.3 V for the purist).  But Lenovo considers 3.5 V to be the limit, displays 0% charge, and forces a recharge of the battery.  At 3.5 V, about 40% of the capacity still remains unused with the cell.  So although the cells have 40% capacity left and may be discharged to 3.0 V, Lenovo considers the battery pack to be fully discharged and forces an unnecessary early recharge. Then to add insult to injury, apparently if the cells continues to hit the 3.5 volt level too soon, the electronics decides that the pack is defunct and then "blows the fuse" and refuses to charge the battery, and refuses to accept an external cha... hi , i have this problem whereby whenever i resume the computer from sleep, the dvd drive disappear from "my computer" and device manager. It could not be detected as well. All the hard disks were detected.

The only way was to restart the computer.

The dvd drive is connected via the IDE cable to the mobo , using the Jmicron IDE/Raid chipset.

may i know if there is any remedy to this ?

Thanks !

A:internal dvd drive not detected.

I experienced a similar issue, only instead of my dvd drive not being detected, when I woke up my computer from sleep mode my wireless pci adapter wasn't detected, and I had to restart the computer, and then it was fine. Only thing I can recommend is to make sure you have the latest drivers for anything you may have under IDE in device manager, and your dvd drive, only other thing I can recommend is to disable sleep mode if noone can provide a solution to your problem;(Right click your desktop, click personalize, click screen saver, towards the bottom click the blue link called 'change power settings', click your preferred plan, and set "Put the computer to sleep"; to 'Never') Hope that helps, but hopefully someone can provide a better solution for you.

This is was not an upgrade, I nuked my old OS (vista 32 bit) and did a totally fresh install of 7. Everything went smoothly, the only problem is that 7 is not recognizing my 2nd internal hdd. Only the C drive shows. When I installed, 7 asked which drive to install on, so I know it saw it then.

Any advice? Is there a driver I need to install maybe?
I am clueless, any help would be very much appreciated.

Welcome to the forum!

I'm guessing that what you are considering to be a 2nd HD is a hidden partition that HP configured as a recovery disk...

If so then it's not accessible now... Once we identify this being the case, we can at least recover that as free space.

Do you know what hard drive setting you had in Win 7, ACHI or SATA? Your new system may be set for one and it's giving you problems accessing the drives if they previous were operating on the other. Also, check your BIOS setting to see what your mobo is set to.

Check your settings in Windows 8, but be careful switching from one to the other. Then search for how to switch. Depending on your exact circumstances, you should be able to find a procedure that matches your situation.

Hello! Earlier today I bought a brand new 2TB Seagate Internal HDD to replace my temporary 300GB HDD. The first thing I did was connect it to my PC (and other laptops) using USB-to-SATA Adapter. I opened the disk management and the HDD wasn't there, only the drive letter showing up and it says that there's "No Media". After that I connected it to the SATA cable to see if the PC will detect it. Unfortunately, it's still not detected (It says "PXE-E61: Media test failure, check cable, PXE-MOF: Exiting PXE ROM, No bootable device - insert boot disk and press any key". I reinserted the HDD to see if this fix the issue, still no-go. But when I inserted the 300GB HDD the PC detected it as usual.

I don't know what to do now! Need help!

Hi, Just to clarify, the 601 error relates to your notebooks main battery ( not the rtc cell on the system board ). If you're happy with running the machine on mains power full time, there's no issue with that and you can simply remove the battery. If you do want to replace the battery at some time, you can order a new one through HP Parts Store or ( and often less expensive ), just google the full Model No. of your dv7 series notebook including the term battery. Regards, DP-K

It will be somewhere on the motherboard. It's a flat round battery like those in a watch only larger. On some older PCs, the battery is soldered to the motherboard so you may need to take it to a shop to have it replaced if that's the case.

Hard to troubleshoot. As a guess, I would suspect a problem with the headphone jack or the internal wiring as many I/O jacks are on a small circuit board that is connected to the main motherboard.

Alright, so I have a Dell Latitude D630 laptop that's rather old and has several major problems, including never charging, overheating without a small fan next to it, and the occasional key falling off. Well, I was using it a few nights ago and it was working better than usual. Eventually, I turned it off and went to bed. Nothing unusual happened then, but the next day, when I booted it up, it told me the internal hard drive was missing and suggested I reseat it. I ran a diagnostic and it told me basically the same thing but this time it was accompanied by a happy little tune composed of loud beeps, as if to say: "Ha ha, I have found yet another way to ruin your life by becoming even more of an ungrateful mule than I already am, a feat which you thought was impossible but apparently isn't." As of today, when I try to boot it up, it doesn't even show the Dell logo before turning off. This is naturally a tad miffing, but I hope reseating the hard drive will help. Thing is, I don't know how. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Okay, so I've been having a few programs with my computer...this including slowness, poor wifi connections, and odd performance of wacom tablets.

The problems with a tablet are described in more detail here--> http://www.sevenforums.com/drivers/1...ml#post1658350

Recently, before I signed into windows, a message on a black screen popped up stating something about my internal battery needing to be replaced. I'm on an HP pavilion laptop // HP pavilion entertainment PC.

Could the problems I mentioned above be related to the battery? I desperately need to be able to use my tablets for my major in college, and are majorly concerned with how they've been acting poorly with my laptop...could just replacing the battery work?

Also, would the 'internal battery' still be the battery that is capable of being removed from the laptop? Or does a laptop of two batteries?

A:"Internal battery" notices..what problems could a low battery cause?

This is the CMOS battery it is talking about. It should be replaced asap. But this is not a do it yourself job in a laptop. Better have some expert deal with it.

The most common MB battery is a CR-2032 Lithium. Usually found at most Drug stores, WalMart, etc. Arround $2. That would be a cheap test to try first.

But also double check all your other power connections, but it could be the PSU failure , also.

I receive this error message on start-up: HP Battery AlertThe system has detected the storage capacity of the battery stated below to be very low. For optimal performance, this battery may need to be replaced.Primary (internal) Battery (601)ENTER - Continue StartupFor more information, please visit: www.hp.com/go/techcenter/startup. whats the difference between the internal battery and external battery?  I have replaced the external battery with a new one but the message still displays

A:internal battery error 601

It would help to know your laptop model. But I would say the "internal" is the CMOS or Real Time Clock battery. That is why I ask your model because it is unusual to see one of those die in less than 5 years. The model of the laptop would also allow us to show you how to replace the internal battery. It can be quite a job although the little battery (like a hearing aid battery) is very inexpensive usually.

So the primary battery is the one that detaches, I have a HP 15 touchsmart and I did the whole unistalling of the battery driver and did a battery scan ? and it told me to replace the primary battery so my question is if the primary battery is the detachable one??

A:Re: Primary (internal) battery 601

In a ONE battery laptop, that battery is the Primary.

I have issue after upgrading from Win 7 to Win 10. The internal battery isn't detected and chargeable. Right clicking the battery icon on the notification area, I could see the following messages: Battery 1: This battery is not available for useBattery 2: 100% I installed ThinkPad setting dependency 3.0 and Lenovo Power Management Driver 1.67. They don't seem working. I launched Lenovo Power Manager, but no longer able to see status of both internal and external batteries. I was able to use the internal Battery 1 when I unplug the external Battery 2. But after I depleted the battery 1, nothing seems to be useful in charging it and be usable again. Appreciate if there's any guidance here. Thank you.

I have received the dreaded 601 error before my start-up process.  I ran the battery check through the operating systems' diagnostics (F2) and it said it would need replaced due to use over time.  I also ran the battery charge check through HP Support Assistant and it said that it was very weak and possibly needed replaced.   How do I replace my internal battery?  The website that HP Support Assistant took me to only had the external batteries available.

A:Internal Battery Error (601)

Can we have your full model number? I think the error you are seeing refers to the "main", large battery and not the little clock or CMOS battery. Is your system closed so that the battery is not easily removeable? The full model number will point us to the right service manual which will show the part you need and the replacement process. Also need to know what country you live in.  http://h20564.www2.hp.com/hpsc/doc/public/display?docId=emr_na-c00033108

I think its 65+I have noticed that when i remove the battery, the laptop turns off. Shouldnt it have an internal battery? Is there a version of T440 that doesnt have this battery? If so, can i purchase one and install?

A:Do all T440 have internal battery?

Hello and welcome,

Some models do not have an internal battery:

I can't say whether they can be added.  Hopefully others here can address that.

I bought my machine not a year now an yesterday this info just pop up an d my battery don't charge any longer

A:Primary (internal battery) 601 very low

@royalrazak? That error means that your MAIN battery can hold only 25% or less of it's full charge. Shutdown remove your MAIN battery then reboot. The error should go away. REO

My system displays HP internal battery error (601)and requests for replacement also the battery no longercharges the icon shows 0% plugged in, not chargingDo I need to replace the battery or there is a work aroundto fixing it.Thanks.

A:Hp internal battery issues

I would guess the battery is somewhere between 2 and 3 years old maybe a little older. They are a consumable, replaceable item like tires or brakes on a car. Time to replace.
