Inspiron 15z 5523 Ultrabook not turning on, Not Charging,No lights,No sound

Q: Inspiron 15z 5523 Ultrabook not turning on, Not Charging,No lights,No sound

I shut down my laptop the other day...while it was shutting down I closed the lid and placed it in my bag(the battery was around 35 maybe)... Charged my iPhone while the laptop was off and after some time the charging stopped. I ignored this and after sometime tried to turn on the laptop ... It wouldn't turn on... No red lights for low battery no display... I plugged in the laptop ... No lights ... Tried reseating the ram without any luck ... Since it's inspiron 15z 5523 Ultrabook from late 2012 I cannot go down to the battery easily. The laptop has never been opened.except for changing ram that too 2 years ago

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

A: Inspiron 15z 5523 Ultrabook not turning on, Not Charging,No lights,No sound

Unplug the system, disconnect the battery (remove the base cover to access it), and hold the power button for 30 sec.
Verify that the LED on the adapter or DC plug is ON before you continue. If it's not, the adapter is bad and will need to be replaced.
Remove and reinstall both memory modules.
Power on on AC only with the battery disconnected. If it will but won't with the battery in place, the battery is bad; replace it.
If the system still won't power up, replace the mainboard.

Got my laptop a month ago and was working well until yesterday. I had just closed it the other night after charging it. Then there was nothing - no boot, no LED with charger, no fan. I checked and the charger is definitely functioning, so I worry that this is a problem with the motherboard.

Since it's an ultrabook, I haven't been able to remove flea power since the battery is embedded into the laptop. If I could get some advice on removing it, or any other possible solutions, that would be great!

Otherwise, I wonder if it would be possible for a technician to come have a look at it ASAP? I'm a student at uni and have no way to get to the repair centre :(

A:Inspiron 15z 5523 Ultrabook not turning on - no response

Hi Kathartic,
I suggest you try running diagnostics by press and holding the Fn button and power on the laptop and select diagnostics from the list. If the diagnostics displays an error, please reply with the right error message.
If unable to run the diagnostics check for beep sound or flashing lock lights when the system is turned on. Also check the status and color of power button light, and include them in the reply.
Also check the status of AC adapter LED, if LED on the AC adapter is not lit (when unplugged from notebook), reseat brick and cable. Still if the LED on the AC adapter is off, replace AC Adapter & Power Cord only, else follow next step.
If LED on the AC Adapter goes off only after connecting it to the notebook, the problem could be with the motherboard of the laptop.
Please reply with results for further help.

Hey Guys,
Recently a week ago, I watched a movie and put my dell ultrabook to sleep, the next day, when i started it up, The laptop started giving out three beeps, Then i took it to my local service center who said that the motherboard was faulty, I didn't seem to believe them, so i disassembled the laptop and replaced the cmos battery, after an overnight capacitor drain.

The laptop finally started, and i was met with the dell logo, I tried tapping F2/F12 to no avail, then a black screen appeared mentioning "PXE-ROM : Exiting PXE ROM", This screen comes very rarely, Only after 12 hours of cmos drain. I can't seem to access windows, My hard drive is well working.Any help would be appreciated

I have one of the newer model Dell Inspirion laptops. How do I turn off the light that accompanies the power button and the charge light on the front. I'm able to turn off my backlit keyboard, but these two other lights are quite bright and annoying when I'm trying to play movies in a dark room.

A:Laptop lights (power/charging) - Dell Inspiron

What is the exact system model?
The power led and the leds on front are also used as diagnostic indicators. If there is any hardware issue on the machine, these leds help isolate the source of the issue. Hence, there is no way to disable the leds from turning on, as they would be connected to a cable soldered to the motherboard.
Download the service manual / specifications for a better understanding of the machine - http://dell.to/1n3X2po - enter the service tag and download it from the Manual section.
Write me a private conversation with the service tag and your contact details(Name and Email) for case records.

I have my new Inspiron 15z 5523. It's been 5 months now since I had it.
I liked that Windows 10 Preview very much and it reminds me of Windows 7. Right now there are no drivers for this new Windows on the Inspiron 15z page in your site.
But will you add "Windows 10" drivers download for that model later when the official release of Windows 10 is released?

Hi all, I've got a 3.5 year old Inspiron 15z laptop, and noticed that it doesn't want to start up any more. With the power adapter in, the "Power" LED on the laptop turns on after I press it, and the 3 quick start buttons also light up briefly. I hear the fan start, and then nothing. The screen stays black, the power LED stays on, but that's it.
I do know that it is getting power, since I've completely drained the battery and the power button LED won't light up unless I plug in the adapter. The LED on the adapter brick is green.
Am I stuck with having to replace the motherboard? I'm at a loss as to what else could be wrong. I've also tried doing a reset via the button near the RAM slots.
Thanks in advance!

I have an Inspiron 15z - 5523 with touch screen, but some days ago my computer resulted damaged and now it has a scratch from the top of the screen to the inferior part of it, including the black frame that is around the screen, but anyway the image projected is perfect.
I don't know if what is broken is the screen or a type of protector that the screen maybe has.
Trying to find the part to fix it, I saw this:
But I have some questions about this,
- It´s just a bizel or it´s a bizel with an screen protection what they are selling me?, because it's not very clear on the image of the product, and researching on the internet I saw other Inspiron laptop models with a protector that was separated from the real screen.
- In the other hand, if this is the protector how I think, i don't know if it is related to the touch screen unit or not, I guess not because of the low price, but I take this opportunity to ask.
Thanks a lot if you can help me with this problem clarifying my doubts.

My computer was beeping on start up and would start beeping randomly while the computer was on. Sometimes it would beep non-stop and I would have to disable the internal speaker. I updated the bios and that fixed the problem, but my webcam driver and internal mic driver isn't working anymore. I've been looking around and I can't find anything. So, I came here in hope that someone can help.

I'll provide any additional information if needed.

A:Webcam drivers for Dell Inspiron 15z 5523?

Hi Legended,

Do you have any yellow exclamation marks in device manager?:

If so, you could try installing the updated audio driver (from Dell) for the mic problem; however, I don't see any specific download for the webcam, so you can either search Winodw Update for an optional driver download or try installing a simple 3rd-part webcam utility and that might fix your issue with the webcam.

Also, even if you don't have any exclamation marks in device manager, I would still consider the above recommendations as well. However, there may be a few better options forthcoming from other forum members but this (at least) this can give you a place to start. Good luck.

I recently upgraded the HDD in my Inspiron 15Z 5523. I restored the HDD from a Windows 10 backup image and all went well. I discovered that the Intel Rapid Storage Technology was not working. In the course if trying to get it working I inadvertently changed the SATA mode setting in BIOS for from Intel rapid storage to AHCI. I realized what I had done and restarted right away to BIOS and changed it back. Since then getting the laptop to boot is hit or miss. I won't get the Dell boot splash unless I cycle the power repeatedly until it displays the Dell Logo. then it boots fine. I've run the tests by hitting Power+Fn, everything passes. I've put back the original HDD, same problem. I've run the motherboard diagnostic on the Dell support site and it passes. I've taken the machine apart and removed the main battery and the CMOS battery. The problem remains. When it is working it runs all the time without any issue, until it hibernates or restarts. Then I have trouble getting it to boot again.
I'm out of things to try so, in case there is BIOS corruption,  I'd like to re-write the flash BIOS but the flash utility 5523A05.exe won't let me write over with the same version. I have a copy of flash version 5523A03.exe as well so I'd like to try downgrading to it.
Are there command line switches that can be used to force the BIOS to flash. I've tried adding /forceit and /s /f from elevated command prompt but neither of those work.

A:Inspiron 15Z 5523 BIOS re-write or downgrade

Had this thing running since my last post. I had turned off sleep and hibernate, only allowing the screen to dim and never shutting down. I have been able to manually restart Windows 10 many times. However, this morning it was sitting there non responsive with black screen and keyboard still lit.
I pressed the power button and it shut off right away. Pressed the power button again and and it returned to black screen with lit keyboard. As before, I started to quickly cycle the power button and after 3 or 4 times the Dell logo popped up and it booted. Once booted there was a notification that Windows updates were installed.
Sure would like to know what the solution to this problem is. Is there a method to force a bios recovery or rewrite?

My laptop is 4-5 years old and it's failed to boot since Tuesday after it cut out while in use on Monday night.
So far I've tried
Safe mode to remove recent software (NowTV media player)
System refresh
System restore
Running diagnostics/ePSA (no issues)
Initially I was getting different error codes (bad_pool_header, kernel_security_check_failure, ntfs_file_system and some others) seemingly at random so I decided to just do the system restore after all else failed.
Since then though it seems to be stuck on a preparing automatic repair start and crash when after displaying the logo. I've failed to find my recovery disc and after searching for my service tag on the support page there wasn't a stored image for my laptop available to download either.
Is there anything else I can try without needing to purchase a new version of Windows or having to locate a backup disc?
Thanks in advance for any assistance.

I have a 3 year old Inspiron 15z that has a broken audio jack.  I had to use it for a presentation and when I plugged the speaker system into the headphone jack, it was popping, cracking and snapping.  I took the laptop apart and the black casing on the jack is badly cracked and 2 of the pins are badly bent.  No idea how this could have happened.  I don't think I have ever used headphones on this laptop.  At any rate, would like to replace the jack but cannot find a manufacturer.  The number on the jack is 120926.  Does anybody know where I can buy a replacement?

Hello. Probably the best bet would be to find someone on ebay who is selling salvaged parts from that model.
You could contact the parts-people.com -- who are experts on Dell parts -- and see if they have anything. If you cannot get the part, or find that it is too difficult to install it, you can use a usb audio jack instead.

Hello, I have in my service a Dell Inspiron 5523, Service Tag 358YKW1. The laptop worked with 2 x 4 gb ddr3 12800 low voltage memory modules which is supposed to work with. Suddenly stopped working with any other memory modules than one 2 gb ddr PC8500 1,5v. Is working without problems only with this memory module, like is in love with it . I tried everything 1gb, 2gb, 4gb ddr 3 different frequencies and brands, low voltage and normal. I think is a chip problem, but I wanted to eliminate the bios problem. So I downloaded a bios update from Dell website but when I try to update the laptop hangs does'n matter if I try to update from DOS or any Windows (7,8,10). I located the flash chip on the motherboard and I could try making a reflash on that chip externally but the Dell download section offers only an *.exe file, no bin file. Long story short, do any of you guys had similar problem ? Or do you know how to get a bios file? not exe, but  *.bin, or whatever this ami bios had ? Thank you.

I have a Dell Inspiron 15z 5523 Laptop shuts off randomly after 20 - 30 minutes.  I have run system diagnostics, reloaded the OS, and cleaned the cpu fan and board.   The only error present is the showing that the main battery which is internal is no longer good.  Anyone have any ideas?

A:Dell Inspiron 15z 5523 Laptop shuts off after 20 - 30 minutes.

Hi bassundergrace,Can you Private Message me your Service Tag on the system? Also, when it turns off like this is the system plugged in (with the AC adapter for power) or just running on battery? If the system is only turning off on battery then the battery will most likely need to be replaced at this point. However, if the system is turning off after 20-30 minutes use and it is plugged in (it could be the adapter/system board is going bad etc), but before jumping to that conclusion is the system being used on a flat service? The reason I ask is because the system could be turning off due to it getting too hot (due to ventilation). Before the system turns off does it sound like the fan is running at a high speed?Best regards,Brad

Hey guys

Trying to fix an issue with the mrs' Dell notebook; which is an Inspiron 15z 5523.
1st thing - it's out of warranty, so need to try a self-fix if possible, if not, I'm sensing it may be time for a new laptop for her so any tips on data recovery will be appreciated down the line.
Also worth mentioning that this has come about a couple of days after installing Windows 10 - unsure if that's related, but worth a mention.
The issue is that no matter what, we're faced with a blank black screen, with no backlights or LED anywhere. It's now started beeping 3 times in succession which as far as I can tell from the troubleshooting (here) is a system board failure.
For now though, I've done the following:

Allowed the battery to drain and try running on AC power
Reset the motherboard (using the paperclip/reset button method)
Troubleshooted using the above link
Confirmed that it is out of warranty

The main priorities are trying to get this working again and if not, getting the data from the laptop to allow us to get it onto a new one if necessary.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

A:Inspiron 15z 5523 Notebook - 3 beeps, black screen

Yahooo!! Sorted!!!

Thanks guys for all your help! It's really appreciated!

A few things that I noticed. In terms of getting it restarted when the three beeps were happening:
1. There were no clear "this will always work" instructions. Doing the right thing will work sometimes and not others.
2. The most consistent method I had which resulted in not just clearing the beeps, but a successful boot was as follows:
a. Remove CMOS battery.
b. Either Remove main battery, or move the little switch under the keyboard (to the left) into the off position. This just disconnects the battery.
c. Press and hold the power button to drain the capacitors (Now that the cover is off, this is just a tiny silver button...so you'll need a screwdriver or something to easily press it....preferable an electrical screwdriver!)
d. Leave the computer in this state for some time. At least 10 minutes, but if you're having difficult, do it overnight. I've no idea why this delay should be necessary, especially after draining the capacitors, but it seemed to help make it more consistent.
e. Put the CMOS battery back in, and either put the main battery back in or slide the little switch under the keyboard back to on.
f. Again wait 10-15 minutes. I've no idea why this seemed to help, but it did. Perhaps the CMOS battery does something after being reinserted.
g. Do NOT connect any USB drive. Inserting a USB drive triggers a startup in this case. Instead you should just c... Read more

I have a XPS 12 Ultrabook with windows 10 and recently it has stopped charging.  By reading some of the other posts I have tried to make it charge to 100% by clicking in desktop mode and then restarting the computer.  I then got an error on bootup that the battery charging was temporarily diabled.  I hit continue to see if I still got the error of plugged in but not charging and it was still there.
Next I looked at the health of the battery and it said that my battery was good so I rebooted my compter and went into the BIOS.  Here I looked at battery health and it said the following:
"This battery is temporarily disabled, please turn off the computer, reseat the AC adapter and try again when the unit is back to operational temperature."
Now when I am writing this I had just taken it out of my bag, plugged it in and turned it on.  It was within operational temperatures.  Not sure how to reset this.

Any help would be appreciated.

My year old XPS 13 Ultrabook's battery is not charging when plugged in. I measured the voltage of the power adaptor at the plug (the end that connects to the Ultrabook) and the voltage level seem fine at 19.4V

However when I plug and unplug the power when the Ultrabook is off, the LED turns on and off accordingly.

My Ultrabook is L321x, running Windows 7, and has BIOS A7 installed.

Does anyone have the same issue, and is there anything I can do to check what wrong?

Thanks for any help

A:XPS 13 Ultrabook battery not charging

Hi kc.yyz,
I would suggest you to drain the residual power from the laptop:

Disconnect any external peripherals (flash drives, printers, external hard drives) from the computer
Then remove the adapter and the battery
Press and hold the power button for 10 seconds
Reconnect the battery and the adapter

Check the status of AC adapter in BIOS, follow the steps below:

Restart or turn on your computer
As soon as the Dell™ logo appears, tap <F2> until the message Entering Setup appears
‘AC Adapter’ will be listed under the Main tab, and it should be 45 Watt

If the AC Adapter is determined in BIOS, you can update the system BIOS to A08. You may download and install the latest BIOS from the link below:
Also, you can check the battery health from the ‘Dell Battery Meter’. The Battery Meter is used to check the status, life and health of the battery. To launch the Battery Meter:

Click ‘Start’
Click ‘Control Panel’
Click ‘Power Options’ under ‘Hardware and Sound’
Click ‘Dell Battery Meter’

The battery status on this system can also be found using the LEDs, which are located on the right of the system. Press the button located near the LEDs to check the battery charge. Each glowing LED represents 20% of battery charge.

Hope this helps. Please reply if you have any other questions.

I have 2 issues that came up at about the same time, best I can tell.  I scoured the internet to try to find solutions, but nothing has worked.  *not sure if I have 32 bit or 64 bit Windows 10* Problem 1: The computer shuts down immediately after unplugging cord, even when it shows there is a charge on the battery indicator. Problems 2: The battery indicator shows "plugged in, not charging." I ran the battery test through the HP Support Assistant, which shows the battery is working fine, but needs to be calibrated. I tried going into the device manager>battery> and then uninstall the two listed items, power down, unplug cord, remove battery, power up without the battery, check to see if the two battery items are reinstalled (they were), power down, remove cord.  reinstall battery, and power up.  Both problems are still there. The battery power is slowly dwindling, since it has not been charging and  has gone from about 50% when I first notice the issue to 37 %.  I am trying to be economical on powering the unit back up while figuring out a solution and have it shut down currently. I also tried a system restore as far back as it would go, but that did nothing to help. Thank you for your help. John

I just purchased Dell inspiron 14 running windows 8. I have hp 6310 all in one printer. The computer does not recognize the printer. I had a similar problem with an iomega removable hard drive. Dell technical support told me that this PC has USB 3.0 ports and older USB devices cannot be recognized by these ports. Is this correct? If so, is there any device available (e.g. a small cable with USB 3. plug at one end and USB 2.0 socket at the other end ) that would enable the printer and iomega usable with with this laptop ?

I shall appreciate any help in this matter.

What Dell told you is not true. USB 2.0 devices work on USB 3.0 ports. If you have multiple USB devices that are not recognized by this computer, then the computer is probably defective.

My Inspiron 14Z has a hybrid drive with a 32GB SSD and a 500GB HD.  The OS is supposed to be on the SSD portion as drive C:
When I made the mistake of updating the 14Z to Windows 10, I waited too long to go back to Windows 7, and had to use the recovery disk to set it back to factory settings.  This didn't go well as the OS was put on the 500GB HD instead of the SSD.  The HD then became the C: drive.
The SSD is clearly visible in the Bios, but it is not visible in either Computer Management or Windows Explorer.  How can I make the SSD visible, and get the OS back on it?

A:Inspiron 14Z Ultrabook Does Not See SSD Drive

A hybrid drive is not a combination of a hard drive and a separate SSD -- the SSD is built into the drive and not separately accessible.  It's used by the drive's logic board as a cache.
The other possibility is that you have a 32G mSATA drive that's separate from the main hard drive and also used as a cache.
There is no way the operating system was (or is) installed to a 32G SSD  though - the OS is on the hard drive, cached by the SSD either way.  32 G is just too small for use as a bootable OS drive.
128G is a bare minimum - 256 a more practical one - if you want to run the OS from an SSD.

Hello, I dont know if this is the right place to ask for UPS troubles. Sorry, in advance.

My UPS lights all three of em keeps flickering when I turn it on and it gives a sound which always could be heard once when you turn it on or turn it off. The flickering started after a 15 mins blackout and when I came back to turn it on it became like this. The flickering is there and there is no power. My UPS version is IDEAL 5312A 1200VA

A:UPS Lights keep flickering at turning on

Call or email Ideal about it. Something is wrong if that indicator light is flickering.

I was thinking about leaving my computer on more so my CPU cycles could be optimised but the only problem is the LED fan lights would be on all the time. Is there a way to cut off the LEDs on the fans other than a switch. I know when I put my computer into Hibernation the LEDS go off. Is there any way to simulate this.
ps. sorry this is probally in the wrong section but I figured if anyone has had this problem before me it would be you guys.

A:program for turning off led fan lights for UD

LED Fan lights are hardwired to be on all the time. They are usually wired in series to the fan motor so if you cut the light off, the fan will also go out. The only work around is to rewire them in parallel with a cheap switch mounted on the case. This is kind of a home project and should be easy to do. Basically split the DC power cable positive side into two. One end will also be hot and run to the fan, the other will connect to a switch and from the switch to the lights. Your negatives from your fan and lights should connect to a common negative. This of course is assuming your fans and lights are DC power (which most are).

Bear in mind, your voltage will drop off when wired in parallel, so your fan will run slower.

Hi Everyone,
I tried searching, but forgive me if I missed something.
I am having power problems with my new inspiron 14z ultrabook. When it goes into hibernate I cannot wake it - the power button is lit but the screen is black and the computer is unresponsive to any buttons I try. I can only force reboot by holding the power button. I called Dell and the nice tech altered some of my power settings. It still happened - I closed the lid and laptop hibernated and would not come back. I have now had to change the settings so that it only goes to sleep, but this is not going to be good on the battery.
How do I wake it from hibernate?
Thank you!

A:New Inspiron Ultrabook Won't Wake Up from Hibernate

Hi jenNOfur,
I would recommend you to flash BIOS if it needs an update. Hibernation issues can occur due to corrupt video card drivers. So, we need to re-install the card drivers as well.
1) Please follow these steps to flash BIOS:
Click the following link to install the BIOS update: www.dell.com/.../inspiron-14z-5423
Note: Before flashing the BIOS please check the following:
- Battery should have 10% charge
- Adapter should be connected
- No external devices should be connected.
- All other programs should be closed and documents saved
If the existing BIOS version is the most current one, BIOS update give that prompt during the installation.
2) If BIOS update does not fix the issue, we will have to re-install the video adapter drivers.
Since multiple video adapters are shipped with the computer, I need to check the exact computer specification before I provide you with the recommended video drivers.
I am adding you as a friend. I am also sending a private message. Please write back with your computer’s Service Tag and the name of account holder. Once I get these details, I will send the appropriate drivers and steps for re-installation.
Please perform these troubleshooting steps and do write back with the findings and system information. I would be glad to assist.

I have noticed this behavior ever since I'm using my old pc.

my old pc and new one is located at the same place.
(As I just replaced it).

I've noticed this weird behavior when someone turns on the lights.
I'm having alarm sound that a device is unplugged, and when I turn off the light.
the same alarm sounds.

the lamp is a flourescent lamp and it is beside the PC tower and the only thing that separates them is 2in. wooden wall. if you need a photo. I'll upload it for you.

is it the static discharge of the lamp that causes this?.

A:Weird behavior when turning off the lights.

Reminds me of a very old Hitchcock movie named Gaslight with Charles Boyer and Ingrid Bergman.

Please relocate either the lamp or the PC at some distance from one another to test if the same odd behaviour continues. But weren't the old PC and the light located at the same place before you got the new one?

I've been using the Y720 for a month or so and the RGB keyboard lights seem to turn on every night at some point. I can't exactly pinpoint when but they alwys seem to be on and flashing when I come back after not using it for a few hours.   I have four schemes set up in Nerve Sense and the 4th scheme is "No Light."  It seems to keep this setting without issue during the daytime adn while I'm using it. But at the end of the day, at some point, it seems to shift to a different scheme.   Is there a setting for this somewhere?

I'm just wondering where to find the settings that would adjust/turn off lights that are on my tower.  Or am I stuck using a winter hat to cover it up for the rest of my life, lol.  Thanks.

Is it possible to turn off the LED lights of fans/ case fans with put turning off the fan or turning off the computer and unplugging the fan from the mother board?

The two fans are big cooler master fans that have small connectors (each has three wires (red, white, and black).

A:turning off led lights of desktop fans

Standard fans use 2 or 3 wires. Two of the wires are power, the third is for RPM sense.

It's a custom build and came w/no manual for the card so I'm looking it up as I write this. What could be causing this? Its a brand new machine.
Card is ati radeon 4890
AMD quad core
vista home premium
4 gb ddr3 ram

I checked connections, cleaned some dust off the inside; the cpu temp was 38 C, HD 43C; usually they're about 35-40. I had just finished playing Silent Hill homecoming but it had no problem w/that.

My sister gave me her X230.  I don't know much about it.I reinstalled a fresh new system from the Recovery Disks. So what does it mean when the mute, microphone and Thinklight simultaneously flash once when the machine is turned on?Also, the Touchpad is unresponsive.   The mouse works but sometimes the icons are unresponsive to clicks. Should I just replace some hardware or are there deeper problems here? Thanks in advance!

So I had my yoga 920 conk out on me at a VERY inopportune time, next month I go abroad to study. Yesterday I started my laptop and started some light browsing when it suddenly shut down. I tried starting it up again, when it came up with the dreaded blue screen saying 'failed to detect boot device' or something. Third boot try onwards, the laptop does not respond to charging, no lights come on, nothing, NADA. Worst part of it? This happened within 10 months of my purchase from USA. I have 54 days of my warranty remaining. I tried static discharges multiple times, no luck.Went to multiple service centers in Pune, India, but they refused to diagnose the issue saying that they do not service this model since it was not released in India. I'm ready to ship this laptop to the USA with my own expenses to have it fixed or replaced, but so far no customer service has been able to help me out.Any bright ideas/contacts?

Hi All
I have a Inspiron Ultrabook 14z which was giving me a battery backup of 5+Hrs about 2 weeks back. I did not use the laptop for 2 weeks and today the laptop is not turning on. When I plugged in the adapter and tried there is a black screen with an error "The battery has permanently failed..." The system is just out of warranty but it is hardly used for 100 hrs.
Dell service center said they would need about INR 1.5k to look into the matter. INR 7k to replace the battery and if things did not work, then another INR 14k to replace the motherboard and see if it helps.
Anyone has a smarter idea? Please help me out.

A:Dell Inspiron Ultrabook 14z Battery Error

Good day, Thanks for writing to us.
The battery removal in the machine is a little complicated.
When you get the message The battery has permanently failed, does it gives you an option to press f1 or f2 ?? If yes press f1 to continue boot up.
Do you have another adapter to try?
When the machine stays blank , are you able to toggle caps or num lock (do they respond?).
Also you can try power up the machine with 1 memory at a time (if there are two), to rule out memory issues.
If you wish to try remove the battery , you can watch this video for instructions ..

Please bear in mind , any damages during the battery removal process Dell will not be responsible. Its at your discretion to remove the battery and power on the machine without it.
