I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hi everyone, my 100s Ideapad recently had a charging issue where it won't charge unless you cram it in. So, I ordered a new charger off of Amazon with the same output voltage. However, when I plug the charger in, it doesn't show the charging light or turn on. I tried unplugging the battery and holding the button down, but it didn't work. The gold part inside the charging port is loose, I think that's what's wrong. Does anyone have any fixes?

HI, I recenty bought the Ideapad 100s  and am generally satisfied with it. But sometimes (about 7 out of 10 attempts), laptop does not turn off when I shutdown the computer. That is, the power light (one next to the battery light) is still on. In fact, I know that the computer is really not turned off because the battery life goes down when that happens.  So I have to press the power button for about 15 sec to actually turn off the computer. And I do not think manually turning off the computer like that is not good.  What might be the problem and how can I fix it?Thanks,

I was taking a 40 day break from my computer ending on Sunday, put it in the basket. I was going to test the bootup, and when i push power, no light turns on. When i plug the adapter in, i hear a very quiet buzz noise from inside the computer, and i push the power button, still nothing happens, no lights, no boot. Is my computer dead or what? I just got this for Christmas. Is their a way to fix it, i hear taking the battery and unplugging the adapter and holding the power button for 30-60 seconds works on some Lenovo models, but the battery is not accessible without me having to mess with screw drivers. I want to have a good working lenovo. Should i mail this in to Lenovo, or is their a way to fix manually. -Isaac Schaff

Hi Isaac,

Welcome to Lenovo Forums.

When you plug in the power cord the light for the AC adaptor doesn't turn on?

Hope this helps. Let me know your findings.

The kids let their laptop run all the way down, and now we can't get it to boot back up. It's been plugged in and the battery light is on, going from orange to white, but otherwise there's no sign of life at all. No noise, no screen flicker, etc.

I've read through posts describing similar problems and seen suggestions to remove the battery, but this unit doesn't have a removable battery. I've also seen various suggestions to hold down the power button while unplugged or try the Novo button, and have tried both with no luck.

Is there any other way to bring this brick back to life?

Hi smcindoe,

Welcome to the Community Forums.

I would encourage you calling in technical support for inwarranty repair.
The hardware manual here do offer power checkout guide (page 21-22) to help isolate the ac charger but since it can charge the battery from purple to white, then internal parts should be checked further.

I hope this helps you on how to proceed.
Update us how it goes best for you.

The BIOS and boot options on this machine seem very restrictive, I have never encountered this before on any other machine.Any help would be appreciated as this pc is coming very close to going into a skip.

Hello, for the past weeks I've been trying to tackle the following issue.I have a Lenovo Ideapad notebook that came with a 32gb eMMC card for storage. I wanted to downgrade it to Windows 7 so I ended up cleaning the card/drive completely. Soon after I found that there were no drivers available for Windows 7. So I tried going back to Windows 10 with the disc. The problem is I get the following error when picking the drive during installation:"?We couldn?t create a new partition or locate an existing one. For more information, see the Setup log files.?I tried so many 'fixes' that I found during research but can't past this roadblock I've manually created the partition and even manually moved the installation files to the primary drive. Something tells me that it has to do with the eMMC. I can't even install a normal drive since there's no space for it.Please help guys!!

Hi! I had many computers before, but this is something new. My Lenovo IdeaPad 100S-11IBY [Z3735F 2GB 32GB] W10 [Version 10.0.14393] is draining its battery when I don't use it. For example: I have 79% battery left. I've finished my work for today. I'm shutting down Windows 10 (no sleep mode, just turn off). Next day I open my computer and I see 10% battery.  I check Windows event viewer and my laptop didn't turn off properly, it just went to sleep. And 10% battery was left becasue I set power options (if battery = 10% go to hibernation). When I want to finish work I always use Start Menu / Power / Turn Off. I wait until screen goes blank and power led goes blank as well. Than I close the lid. Had anyone the same problem? What should I do to prevent this from happening again?

Hello,I am receiving continuing Windows 10 update failures, initially with Cumulative Update for Windows 10 (KB4015221) and now with 2017-05 Cumulative Update for Windows 10 for x86-based Systems (KB4019474). I did download and successfully install "Security Update for Windows (KB4019474)" using the stand alone file, but there are two issues that baffle me: 1) Windows 10 Update is still trying (and failing) to install "2017-05 Cumulative Update for Windows 10 for x86-based Systems (KB4019474)" 2) My PC says I have a 32-bit x64 system but the x64 version of the stand alone update tool had the error that it was the wrong system architecture while the x86 version of the tool worked. And in fact Windows Update is attempting to install the x86 version, so perhaps I really do have an x86 system??? Ultimately, I'm trying to correct a .NET Framework parse error I receive when trying to run new software and suspect it will be resolved by a successful Windows 10 update. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated! Thanks,Rich

Hey, I'm having a lot of trouble with installing Windows 7 on a Lenovo Ideapad 100S. Hi

I got a 2nd hand Lenovo Ideapad 100S. It came with Win10 installed but had someone elses profile and data.
(I am not sure if it originally had Win8.1 when it was shipped, there is no rollback option anymore)

My preference is to wipe the current installation completely by downloading Win10 and installing a clean copy off USB.

I also usually prefer to delete all partitions, including recovery because future reinstallations can be done from scratch via USB. (I don't need the option of reinstalling from recovery partitions , the extra space is more important)

I see a warning in the user guide however .....
"Do not delete or modify the Recovery Partition on a WIMBoot-enabled computer. If the Recovery Partition is deleted or modified, you may not be able to restore Windows to the factory status. For computer models on which WIMBoot is enabled, deleting the Recovery Partition may cause Windows to fail to start. How can I determine whether the Windows running on my computer is WIMBoot enabled? WIMBoot technology is normally enabled on copies of Windows 10 Update running on SSD (or eMMC) -only computer models."

What is the best way to do this?

Install a clean copy and remove the partition by booting off a USB, or should I not do this?

A:Ideapad 100s - Win10 clean installation on ideapad...

 Hi larrens ,

Welcome to the Community Forums.

It's a good thing you posted first before proceeding with any clean installation.
Not sure what the Machine Number is to verify the details and specifications of your system.

But if you have a pc with a Windows Image Boot (or WIMBoot) you may not want to choose a clean installation.
This new deployment of installation is compressing part of a big OS file so that you can have an operating system that can only take small spaces intended for small storages (SSD).

Best option to wipe out previous owners profile is a have a fresh out of the box image is using the Puch button Factory reset (Novo key similar to Item 7 page 1). Simply shutdown the system and use the button to turn on, System Recovery option would provide One key recovery from initial backup to do it.

WIM boot are usually created thru OEM depot authorized by Microsoft . DIY for WIMboot maybe a bit complicated.

Hope this answered your query.

Hello! Few days ago I tried to reset system on my Lenovo Ideapad 100S-11IBY 80R2, but I everytime got some error so it was not possible. I guess its because I upgraded Windows 10 to Anniversary Edition. Anyway to solve this problem I just used Media Creation Tool and made a fresh install. Sadly after doing this Windows came almost without any drivers - there was no sound, touchap/keyboard doesnt worked, etc. I downloaded from Lenovo website driver "Intel Platform Driver for Windows 10 (32-bit)- ideapad 100S-11IBY", and thats all I installed so far. Now everything work, but theres one small problem. Before I could play Warcraft 3 smoothly with all settings on high, after fresh instalation of Windows it works much slower even with all settings on medium. So is there something I missing in my system? some more drivers? How to improve performance on this netbook?

Hi, I recently upgraded the Storage with a WD green 120 GB M.2 SSD. Post upgradation, i installed Windows 7 into the new Drive. After dealing with several error messages and trying all workarounds the system was able to boot and became a working machine again.  I accidentally formatted the eMMC i.e. previously my C: drive and faced a lot of difficulty in making it work. However happy that finally the system is back to its normal working condition. The only problem i am facing now is, i am not able to see the 32GB eMMC card in Disk Management or in MY Computer. Though the same is visible in Advanced Troubleshooting during pre-boot (Repair your system Option) . Though the volume is visible and is empty there, its not visible inside windows explorer after windows starts. Though it doesnt affect the system's performance now, i would like to use the 32GB memory. I tried looking for the driver but not didnt find any. I am currently using Win 7 Enterprise. My next attempt would be to upgrade to Windows 10 and see if that resolves the issue.  Please Help !

I have a 100s 11.6 and, of course, the memory is full.  Almost instantly.  I bought a 64gb card for it but when I go into disk management and try to delete the D partition, all 3 choices are greyed out.  Do the same with C partition and the only choice is Shrink Volume.  Is there a work-around ?? Also, reading online, all I've read says the memory is soldered in on my model.  When I pulled the back off it, I see that the boards are plugged in.  I'd be real pleased if I could buy a larger capacity board to install.  Is that possible ??  Barring any of the above, I can manually copy and paste individual files from C drive to D drive to make a bit more room on C, but not sure which ones are safe to do so or how to go about it without messing up my OS.  Yah, I'm a newbie at this stuff and need hand-hold assistance. Thanks in advance.

Quite a pain having to wait for it to re charge, isn't that the point of corded use? Also it seems to die pretty quickly and even when put to sleep when closed fizzles out quickly. Again is this normal?
