I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

hey all,(First time here, sorry if I'm asking laptop Qs in tablet section.)So, I'm wondering what laptop( or, a "drawing tablet") should I go with. Both has stylus, but samsung has emr, while lenovo is aes.I've been drawing mostly on pencil + pen, and the only "drawing tablet" i have used was galaxy note 2. I mostly draw & sketch things like cars and buildings, and what I want to see is precise pointing and good tracking. (Slippery screen is actually fine, since I've been drawing with slippery pen for more than 2 years.)I got bad taste for aes after the terrible adonit pixel, as it responsed so bad and the drawing point was in wrong place every time when I repositioned my hand.Thx for anyone helping me to make a choice.Any help ?

Since you have to hunt around different Lenovo sites (and other sites) to find out about these softwares, I decided to make a post to get feedback from actual Yoga owners on how these programs interact, what they do, which ones are prerequisite, and which ones are unnecessary. Please don't take this as a blanket answer. This is just what I have found. It might be right - it might be wrong. I'm looking for others to post their experiences as well. Lenovo System Interface Foundation Driver - Necessary prerequisite (missing driver in device manager without it). It allows the Lenovo Utility and Lenovo Companion to work. Lenovo Yoga Mode Control - Necessary if you want to use your yoga to seemlessly change between all the different modes (laptop, tablet, tent, stand). This software is responsible for autorotating and putting Windows into tablet mode. Lenovo Utility - Recommended(?) This one I'm not too sure on. I remember that I was missing some function that I wanted but I can't remember what it was now. Maybe battery cycle count and health? Lenovo Companion - I don't have this one installed and don't think it's necessary but would like someone else to shed some light here.

In this discussion, Amy from Lenovo recommends that we purchase Lenovo SSDs if we want thermal management: https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/ThinkPad-P-and-W-Series-Mobile/Can-I-add-a-Samsung-950-Pro-NVMe-SSD-to-... The link no longer directs us to a particular model. So I perform a search on the Lenovo site and see (among others) this model: ThinkPad 256GB SAMSUNG PCIe NVME TLC OPAL M.2 SSD http://www3.lenovo.com/us/en/accessories-and-monitors/memory-and-storage/storage/HDD-BO-ThinkPad-M-2... What is this? A Samsung SSD rebranded as a Lenovo SSD? Would I gain in compatibility with such a drive or not, and specifically regarding thermal management? Also, is there a misprint below concerning the read speed? "ThinkPad 256GB SAMSUNG PCIe NVME TLC OPAL M.2 SSD supporting PCIe 3.0 interface standard up to 4 lanes shows much faster performance than previous SATA SSDs. It's sequential performance is up to 300MB/s for read operation and 1700MB/s for write operation by 4 lanes. Test-Prove 100% Compatible with ThinkPad machines. " That has to be 3000MB/S, right?

A:Thinkpad-Samsung or Lenovo-Samsung NVMe SSD? What is this?

My impression is that even Lenovo themselves does not have a clue.

Disclaimer: I received the Yoga 920 as a review loaner unit from Lenovo. All opinions are my own, nobody is paying for my review, and no one is reviewing this content before it's posted.

Left: Yoga 920 in Bronze. Right: Yoga 910 in Silver

On the surface, both the Yoga 910 and Yoga 920 look nearly identical, but in my testing, I prefer one over the other. Let's dig deeper to see the differences between the two!To get this out of the way, both machines have 1TB PCIe storage, 16GB memory, and the Yoga 910 has the 7th gen i7-7550U processor, and the Yoga 920 has the 8th gen i7-8550U processor.

Hardware & Design
Both the Yoga 910 and Yoga 920 are built out of aluminum, which gives them a high quality feel to them.  Both laptops have the keyboard integrated into the chassis, which means less keyboard flex. One thing that I find better in the Yoga 920 is the fact that it's all smooth edges around.  The Yoga 910 has pretty sharp edges which means you could scratch your surface or yourself.  The sharp edges of the Yoga 910 was a common complaint, and I'm glad they rectified it.

The Yoga 920 also has a little slit on the display lid that makes it much easier to open the lap... Read more

Hello Dws520Thanks for using the Lenovo forums. Was this the creators update?
If so, have a look on the following post, this should show if your device has been tested with the update yet:

From what I can see, your unit does not seems to have made the list, which leads me to believe that this will be the cause of the issue, I would recommend that you revert back to the previous version of Windows, and observe if the fault still occurs or not.

Hope this helps, let us know how you get on.==================================================================================Did someone help you today? Thank them with a Kudo! If you find a post helpful and it answers your question, please mark it as an "Accepted Solution"!

I've been looking around and found a few people who are very displeased with the logo startup/boot logo (example1, example2), but no way to change it as of yet. Is it possible without too much hassle? I know it's not a big deal but the logo is simply terrible in so many ways. If nothing, then at least I'm raising awareness and maybe Lenovo will choose a better graphic designer for our collective startup screens. I mean, seriously? Is that the best you could come up with?

For many months, I have been dealing with a frustrating issue when connecting my external Samsung SSD T1 (500 GB) to my Yoga 2 Pro laptop.  After two weeks dealing with Samsung tech support and getting a new unit, I am convinced the problem lies with the Yoga 2 and not the drive.  (The drive does not suffer the issues described below with either of my two desktop machines.) The external SSD is supposed to launch an "unlock" window upon connection, allowing you to enter a password to unlock the drive.  When I connect it to the Yoga 2 Pro, it acts as if it is going to work, but then the disk seems to "hang" and stop communicating with the laptop.  I can see the disk in File Explorer, and even open the drive folder to see the executable inside that needs to run.  But when I double-click the unlock program, it hangs.  The entire drive becomes unresponsive.  I see this behavior regardless of (A) the drive is connected before the laptop is powered on; or (B) when I let the laptop fully boot and then connect the drive afterward.  Either way, same problem. With me so far?  So here's the piece I find bizarre.  I have found that I can resolve the issue by doing a hard reset to the laptop.  Holding in the power button for ten seconds to force a power-down of the laptop.  If I do that and then restart the laptop, everything comes back up fine and the drive works exactly as it is supposed to.  But the next tim... Hi rajulgpatel,

Greetings.

It is not specific in the hardware manual for the SSD specification but checking with FRU listed (item11 page55). Product specification sheet here shows : SSD / SATA 6.0Gb/s, NGFF 2280, removable, upgradable too.

I would suggest to have amn M.2 SATA SSD like Samsung PM871 instead of those using NVMe protocols.

I hope this helps answer your query.

I read other posts and none specifically addressed this for the 920 and the use of what is actually a good Lenovo config tool seems to be poorly documented.   I would think it would be the same for any Yoga model with Windows 10 and Lenovo Vantage installed.   I can't seem to find a version for Vantage, so hopefully this works on all versions.    1) Find and open Lenovo Vantage on your machine (use Cortana if needed).   This is the Responsive view and yours may look different...don't worry, options are the same.  Click on Hardware settings  2)  Click on Input (again, responsive view...whatever view you have should have this button labeled the same)  3)  This will open the Hardware Setting - Input UI.   Under 'Function Keys' click on the one that is labeled 'F1-F12' (should look like below, highlighted in blue) to make that the the Function the default setting for those keys...to further clarify: it will now be a Function Key (F1-F12) by default.    With this change, you will press the FN+ one of the function key for the Hot Key option (e.g. FN+F1=mute/unmute, FN+F2=volume down, etc.)     4)  Your change is already saved, so you can now X-out (click X in the upper right) of the pop-up windows created by that were created

Hi Kenshiro7 ,

Welcome to the Community Forums.

Don't buy it yet , your issue may be very much related to this thread.

Samsung 950 PRO -Series 512GB PCIe NVMe - M.2 Internal SSD 2-Inch MZ-V5P512BW  would slide in the port.
Problem is, it may not recognize the SSD as what was tried on the link.

An SSD SATA / M.2 would work nicely.

Hi huQbbTCi,

Lenovo active pen 1 is also compatible with Yoga 920 as shown in the accessories search tool here PART # GX80K32884. It would be less sensitive to depth perception but with palm rejection enabled then you may not have the same issue on losing contact with it.

It would also be favorable to have it tried first before any purchase specially if you have someone that have it and compare it with other active pens whichever would be comfortable and efficient to your writing style.

Hope this helps answer your query.

Regards

Initial problem:On the  29th June 2016 my laptop suddenly turned off and now only the backlit keyboard lights up and goes off again and the power button just goes on and off. After about 5 minutes of use before the error the screen went blue and shut down. After restarting, as it went onto the desktop the screen flickered constantly and was unusable. I then turned it off again and it wont turn on since. My issue now:Anyway after emailing lenovo, and sending it off they said it was the RAM. I just feel like I am being treated unfairly as the laptop wasn't even 2 years old and it's broke and they will not fix it. I don't want to have to  do it myself as that will probably cause its own problem, but its the principal that they should fix their mistake! I have seen a youtube video of the same problem on the same laptop so it is obviously an issue. Any ideas on what I can do to get this issue solved would be great, even if its the email to ... Santa delivered a Lenovo 510-AST looks great, santa?s Elves at the store said that a Lenovo Active Pen 1 GX80K32884 would work with it..... The laptop seems great, the usual mega GB of updates from windows, and setting Gmail up with outlook was like code breaking the CIA !!! The the pen, how can Lenovo not have instructions on how to turn it on ??????  I don?t know if its on or not, doesn?t appear in the Bluetooth device list on the laptop... So is this Active Pen computable with this laptop ?If it is, how the chuff do you turn it on ? If not compatible, what Other active pens are comparable ? frustrated... grrrrrrr
