Trusted Sites???

Q: Trusted Sites???

w7 IE version 8.0.7601.17514

I use trusted sites to run a webpage on my computer, I set it to "Custom" level with most functions enabled. For some reason, a few hours to a day or so later, it resets to "Low" level and changes the following settings...

Enable > Prompt download unsigned activex controls
Enable > Prompt Initialize and script activex controls not marked as safe for Scripting
Enable > Disable Only allow approved domains to use activex without prompt
Enable > Prompt allow webpages to use restricted protocols for active content
Enable > Prompt display mixed content
Enable > Prompt websites in a less privileged web content zone can navigate into this zone

How can I lock this or stop it from happening?

TIA

Preferred Solution: Trusted Sites???

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I have the newest Internet Explorer and im using Vista. I play a game called Travian and I want to use a 'graffic pack' which loads from my PC.

I had to add the site to my 'trusted sites' for it to work, and it does now.

The only thing is that when I open the site it opens a new IE and loads it in there. As it is the only site in my trusted sites I cant load any other sites with that IE, so I need to go to a different one if that makes sence.

How can I make it so that my trusted sites open with my non-tusted sites (using tabs)?

A:Solved: How can I make trusted sites and normal sites open together?

Set your tab preferences in IE, otherwise, try Firefox and set those tab preferences.

I have my Firefox preferences for Tabs set to never open in a new window, and always open at least one tab:
New pages should be opened in: a new tab rather than a new window
Always show the tab bar
When I open a link in a new tab, switch to it immediately
Warn me when closing multiple tabs
Warn me when opening multiple tabs might slow down Firefox

On Windows 7 with Internet Explorer 9 in a domain environment I have been trying to figure out why users can't add to trusted sites. Spending hours on this. I changed the setting in "Site to Zone assignment list" to disabled and was able to add a site, or so I thought. I add a site, close the dialog and go back in and then ALL the entries in the list have disappeared.

Yes we use Group Policy.

I hate troubleshooting this, I hope someone can expalin this (without telling me to "Search"). I have come across MANY issues similar but have yet to find a solution.

Hi, go here and download HJT, copy to its own folder and run the programme. DO NOT FIX anything yet.

Save the log file and copy and paste it here, someone will take a look at it for you.

I have added a site to my "trusted sites" list in Internet Explorer:
http://www.bravenet.com.
However I cannot get the site to load at all.
I keep getting the error message:
Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage
I have tried over and over to find the problem.
I can get the site: http://www.bravenet.net to load, but most of the links on that site are to a bravenet.com site, including the contact us information.
I would ask them (Bravenet) to help me, but I cannot get to their help or contact files.
When I try to go from Google to bravenet.com I get an error box with the message:

The current web page is trying to open a site in your trusted sites list.
Do you want to allow this?
Current site: http://www.google.com
Trusted site: http://www.bravenet.com
Yes No
Warning: Allowing this can expose your computer to security risks. If you don't trust the current Web Page, choose No.

When I answer Yes, I still get the error message:
Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage.
Do I have some settings incorrect in my security settings somewhere.
Mostly, I have not had any problems viewing the sites I want to see.
I do have one other site that is a problem in the same way.
It also is listed in my trusted sites:

IE7 will not hold trusted sites. After you add a site, click OK to get back out to the browser, and refresh (or even exit, and re-start IE), the desired site is no longer listed in Trusted Sites.

Internet Explorer enhanced security features are un-installed.

Suggestions?

Thanks!

A:Trusted Sites

What is the domain of the site? The "*" just means any prefix for a URL on that site would be trusted. I don't like adding entries there as it basically gives them permission to bypass security measures on your computer. This is sometimes done for troubleshooting purposes but I wouldn't leave it that way.

A:http://*.63.219.181.7 in trusted sites ?

Welcome to TSF.

Please print out or copy this page to Notepad. Make sure to work through the fixes in the exact order it is mentioned below. If there's anything that you don't understand, ask your question(s) before proceeding with the fixes. You should not have any open browsers when you are following the procedures below.

Go to My Computer->Tools/View->Folder Options->View tab and make sure that 'Show hidden files and folders' (or 'Show all files') is enabled. Also make sure that Display the contents of System Folders' is checked. Windows XP's search feature is a little different. When you click on 'All files and folders' on the left pane, click on the 'More advanced options' at the bottom. Make sure that Search system folders, Search hidden files and folders, and Search subfolders are checked.

For the options that you checked/enabled earlier, you may uncheck them after your log is clean. If we ask you to fix a program that you use or want to keep, please post back saying that (we don't know every program that exists, so we may tell you to delete a program that we think is bad to keep).

Turn off system restore by right clicking on My Computer and go to Properties->System Restore and check the box for Turn off System Restore. Click Apply and then OK. Restart your computer. After we are finished with your log file and verified that it's clean, you may turn it back on and create a new restore point.

I have tried and tried to figure this out and just cant get it.

We remotely connect to sites using remotely anywhere along with tunnelier.

So we login with tunnelier to the server, then tunnelier gives us our port number, and to connect to the site, we put http://localhost:11233 in our browser.

This all works great, except we get the certificate error in IE.

What i would like to know is how to add localhost to the trusted sites list, so that no matter what the port number is, here 11233, we wont get the certificate error where we are having to click continue to website.

Anyone know how to do this?

I have tried everything I can see on the forums to get acces to the trusted sites list to add another site.
The HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings only has a: Default REG-SZ Value not set, nothing else in that field. I obviously have admin rights and even started IE9 as admin. I used Local Group Policy Editor to check User config/Windows settings/Internet explorer Maintenance/Security and ensured that Do not customize ... is ticked. All to no avail.

I have been trying to add one of our servers tot the trusted sites in IE8 but with no prevail.

We have a program thats piggybacks on IE so we have to allow the use of ActivieX.
When I try to add the site it gives me the "Must have HTTPS:// prefix.
I have unchecked the box that says it is required and even try adding the site as an Administrator but no luck.

On a second note when I try to Change the home page to our company Intranet page it will not change. After I change it and click apply I then hit the home page.

This is happening on Windows 7 machines.

A:Adding to trusted sites

Did you uncheck "requires server verification"? It looks like you did the IE8 version of that, but afterwards did you re-look at all the security settings, particularly involving scripting and ActiveX? Outside of IE did you also check the way you set up your intranet to see what restrictions might be causing both problems?

Hi,
I had raised this question in Microsoft communities
http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/ie/forum/ie11-windows_7/trusted-sites-settings/638743fd-a57f-4595-92aa-e26e172b95bd
and they have asked me to repost the question at this forum.  Hence reposting my question below

We develop applications that are installed on a windows 7 system. Our application has a webpage hosted in IIS.

As an example lets say the system on which we have installed our application has hostname
A and IP "29.1.1.5".  System A
has IIS installed.  SSL option is enabled.  As part of our application we host a home page on this system
A(Example
https://29.1.1.5/home.htm)
Now in the home page of system A I have displayed URLs which correspond to pages from another system(Example href->http://29.1.1.7/home.htm).
Let us name this second system with host name B and IP "29.1.1.7". System
B on which its home page is hosted does not have SSL enabled.

When I click on the system B's URL in system A home page it displays a warning "Only secure content is displayed" which is in accordance since we are navigating away from the secure site(System
A's home page).
So now the requirement for us is to add the system B's home page as a trusted site as part of internet settings on system
A and to enable the mixed mode.  I am already aware of the manual setting in the... Read more

Just purchased a new Dell 4700 desktop. SOftware was previously installed. When accessing Window Media Player, a Security Message pops up and reads "The current web page is trying to open a site in your Trusted Site list. Do you want to allow this?
Current Site: go.microsoft.com
Trusted Site: wwwp.musicmatch.com.

Regardless of the answer I select (yes or no), this message appears every time and it is getting annoying. How do I fix this problem?

A:Trusted Sites List

Copy your link (http://wwwp.musicmatch.com/) into the buffer.

Go to "Start > Settings > Control Panel > Internet Options > Security > Trusted Sites > Sites". Paste your link in the upper window and click "add".

It may "choke" on your link because it wants a secure connection. Add an "s" to the "https:...". Maybe that will work. Maybe that is why it hasn't been working in the past.

If there is already a similar link in there, delete it.

See if that helps.

Okay, I am using Internet Explorer 6.0 mainly but there are other versions in our environment as well. Let me preface this by saying I know how to add a trusted site. What I need to know is how to mass deploy 3 trusted sites to multiple built PC's. Where does the PC indicate where the trusted sites for that PC are. Is this in an INI? Is it in the registry?

Let say I have http://Ilikecheese.com http://Idontlikecheese.com and http://Ilikebutdontwantcheese.com

I don't want to go through a 5 minute scenario at each PC (in many different locations so I would have to drive all over) adding these all in. Or worse yet a 15 minute over the phone conversation and ensuring they get the URL typed in right and so fourth. It would be much easier to send out a reg file for the people to click on or to just push a file to their PC's.

Please note all of these PC's do not have trusted sites setup so I don't have to worry about current preservation. Also I want this trusted site to be there no matter who logs onto the machine.

Anyone with any ideas on how trusted sites works mainly with I.E. 6.0 but if they want to point me to I.E. 5.0 and 4.0 stuff too that would work. Thanks in advance.

Specifcally I am not able to get to vanguard.com, fidelity.com or citibank.com on my trusted site list. Am able to get to other trusted sites (ie troweprice.com). Have updated IE . Same problem with Netscape and Firefox. No problem with other computer on the router. Have adjusted Internet Options every which way. Problem started about a week ago. Cox suggestions were of no help.

I have an issue issue with IE11 on Windows 10.
The trusted sites are pushed out via a domain-based GPO, the ZoneMap registry entries are populated correctly on Windows 10 in
Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings\ZoneMap\Domains\xxxxxxx

However the sites are not listed in Trusted Sites zone via IE (Tools | Internet Options | Trusted sites | Sites) and therefore the zone security settings are NOT applied.

The existing GPO to apply IE security/site to zone assignment works fine on Windows 7 and previous Windows 10 versions with IE 11

Added http://*.company.com to trusted sites in IE 6 sp2. When clicking on a link, I receive the error that page cannot be displayed. If I hit refresh the page ( a word document) then opens. Page appears to use Macromedia Flash for some purpose.

Problem does not occur on XPSP1 machines running IE6 sp2. Windows XP SP2 machines patched to MS05-037- July patches, Windows XP SP 1 machines patched to same level.

A:Trusted sites blocked on XPSP2

Hi on computer with sp2 installed if you want to put an http:// into a trusted site you have to make it https:// this is what windows inside/out xp written by ed bolt saids about it. the s stands for security. i am not saying it will work having never tried it myself.

Without GPOs is there a way I can add trusted sites to all users.  I know using the HKCU I can add the site information, but when I do the same under HKLM the entry is there but it doesn't appear in IE under trusted sites.
I'm running XP SP2/3 and IE7 I had wanted to write a script I could deploy via SCCM that would effect all users, I'd rather not do something with every user that logs on.
So I have the following, but it doesn't appear under Trusted Sites
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings\ZoneMap\Domains\mytest.org]
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings\ZoneMap\Domains\mytest.org\pacs]
"https"=dword:00000002

A:Adding trusted Sites for all users

Hi,
Try to add  these four keys.
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings\ZoneMap\Domains\mytest.org]
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings\ZoneMap\Domains\mytest.org\pacs]
"https"=dword:00000002

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings\ZoneMap\EscDomains\mytest.org]
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings\ZoneMap\EscDomains\mytest.org\pacs]
"https"=dword:00000002
You can use a VB Script

The product is an e-learning course that is distributed on CD. It connects to a web site allowing the user to sign in online, but then is supposed to return to the CD to run through the content.

We have added the web site as a "Trusted Site" and that process works fine. The problem is that when we're on the web site and then try to access the local CD drive, the browser just doesn't respond. An example of the link would be:
[a href="D:\page.html"]Link[/a] ( where "D" is the CD drive and of course we're not using square brackets )

In our advanced internet settings we've enabled content to run from CD. The difference seems to be when you're already on a site to link back to the CD.

Also, this works fine on Win 2000, just not XP.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Whenever I try to add *.amazonaws.com to the Trusted Sites list, I get the message that it's an invalid wildcard sequence. If I add the site in GPO and do a gpupdate, then I get a message this message:
Windows failed to apply the Internet Explorer Zonemapping settings. Internet Explorer Zonemapping settings might have its own log file. Please click on the "More information link"

It's the same as this issue: https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/ie/forum/all/cannot-add-amazonawscom-to-trusted-sites-in/377c17b7-94c6-4171-92bb-fe7283a98d7f
I ran process monitor to see why this is happening and I can't figure it out. Anyone know the reason why I am getting an invalid wildcard sequence even though it is a valid url?
I have only tested this on Windows 10 1703 and 1809.

Logging into ebay sends me to one of two pages. The first gives a list of options as to where to go next. The other says my browser security settings dont allow redirect and to click a link to take me to the correct page.

In both cases NON of the links work. If I right click a link, copy the shortcut and paste into the address bar, I go to where I expected.

This also happened on a virgin wines website - I login to my account details, but non of the links work.

I am running Ad-aware and Spybot - nothing found.

This has just stared happening... but only on ONE of the two users logins on this computer running windows XP and IE6.

I am also unable to access the "trusted sites" in options - the custom and sites buttons are greyed out!!

Any ideas out there???

About a week ago, IE6 has started putting the following address in the Trusted Sites Zone: https://*.0.0.0.0
I have no idea what this address refers to as it's not even normal form. I did not add it myself, and everytime I go to delete it, it comes right back the second I open the sites window back up. I'm not sure why this is happening. I'm not running any personal firewall software. The only thing I can think of is that maybe one of the IE6 Windows Update files put this in there. But since this address has been being put in there, it's been messing up my browsing. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Justin

Hi justind

If you post your startup list we may be able to spot something

Please post your startup list by doing the following :-

Please go here and download startuplist 1.52 :-

http://www.lurkhere.com/~nicefiles/

Download to any folder or your desktop
Unzip the zipfile
Double click the exe file
go to Edit - select all - copy - and paste the results in a new post here

Post your startup list first - then we will probably ask you to d'load and run spybot
This could be a spyware\foistware\malware\adware problem

IE 7 and IE 8
You can add URL's to Trusted sites - but after accepting, when opening the list again the new site is gone !
The problem appear to be there only AFTER one of our GPO's setting these trusted sites via a .reg file, has run.
The GPO is calling a .cmd file executing the .reg file
We don't use setting trusted sites via the policy "site to zone assignment list", because this totally blocked (dimmed out) the buttons for adding trusted sites i IE.
This Microsoft KB describes the same problem:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/307907 But we don't use IEAK.
Any ideas ?
