Q: E550 - Reinstalled windows, keyboard lights dont w...

Hey, I reinstalled windows, and of course I dont have the Lenovo programs that were pre-installed before. Pretty much everything is working without them, but the lights on my keyboard dont work now. (For example if I mute speakers, there used to be orange light on the mute button, now there is nothing.) Where do I get the drivers for this?

I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

please help me! I reinstalled windows XP and now my speakers dont work. they are connected to the computer and they are on, but do i need to reinstall the sound drivers? please tell me simple step by step instructions. HELP ME!!!! i NEED sound!

A:I just reinstalled Windows XP and now my speakers dont make ANY sound they are on too

Yes there should be sound card drivers that came with either the motherboard (on-board sound card) or your pci add-on sound card such as Creative Soundblaster Infinity series. Do you have a pci sound card installed? If so just go to manufacture's website and dl the last drivers.

I purchased a A485 and worked well but quickly replaced Mech harddrive with SSD. Afterwards I noticed I loss the function of the backlit keyboard, as well as my mouse cursor kept freeze when using the Track point when I would use the middle button for scrolling. all drivers up-to-date and even tried reinstalling windows and drivers again...still have this issue the mouse freezing is the must fustrating since I primarily use the Trackpoint to control my mouse functions. I found that locking (windows + L) and login back in frees up the mouse again...but typically freezes shortly after pretty fustrating, especially when one of the main reasons I buy Lenovo is their trackpoint. I've seen people have similar issues but no resolutions in their threads.

flogit, Welcome to SF. Sorry I looked all over the web for some details and it's not looking good for full details on this model. I watched two lame video's and all I can guess is could this be the numbers lock indicator? You should have a manual which you can download or it may be hiding in the machine as a file, could be time for a complete read ! Good Luck.

Greetings,
I recently installed a new OS onto a blank hard drive. The OS is WinXP Home (Service Pack 2). After I finished installing it, I went on to install Norton Antivirus 2002. The only devices plugged into the PC are the monitor, keyboard, mouse and Ethernet (Cable). Everything was working fine untill I turned off my computer and plugged in the rest of the devices (printer, modem, joystick, speakers). When I started up the computer, The Windows XP loading screen moved slow. When the computer finally made it to the Welcome screen, the keyboard lights (NumLock ScollLock CapsLock) blinked erratically and the muse would freeze from time to time. Before I screwed anything else up, I wanted to see if anyone knew what the problem is.

I beleive it may have to due with some of the device drivers for the cable modem and router not installed, but I had them connected when the computer was fine, I even connected to the internet with them.

A:Flashing Keyboard Lights

I believe you are headed in the correct direction. Check your device manager to confirm all devices are installed correctly. The joystick sounds suspect to me, everything else should be fine.

I've only noticed this on Windows 7, I have NO idea what's going on.

I know sometimes when your computer is badly frozen that the keyboard won't respond and the lights won't even respond when you press numlock and capslock.

Well my keyboard works just fine (I'm typing from it now) but the LIGHTS do not! The numlock light is on, the capslock and scroll lock lights are off. They won't change no matter what I do. Same with numlock. The lights stays on even when it's off.

If I press capslock I still get capslock SEE. But the lights won't change. O.o

Obviously it's not a major issue that's inhibiting my experience but it is a little confusing because I can't tell what locks are on or off.

A:Keyboard lights are frozen

Ruled out that it isn't the keyboard itself by trying either another keyboard, or this one on another computer?

Hi,
I have a 2003 Compaq pc that I am fixing up for my grandmother. I had everything ready to go then the keyboard I was using had a loose cord and when it was taken out the pc started beeping. I had to unplug the tower from the wall.

Ever since then, with a new keyboard, the capslock, numlock and flock lights flash when the pc is shut off but not unpulgged, but works fine when the pc is on. I have tried many things and am starting to think that the old keyboard screwed up the motherboard. If this is the case will I have to replace the motherboard or just use a usb keyboard and mouse? And if anyone has any suggestions that would also be welcome.

Thanks

A:Keyboard lights flash when PC off

You mean they flash and then eventually stop?
Or they continue to flash?

If it's the first one that's ok

If it's cintinual flash, it could be a couple of things:
1. On a battery powered Keyboard, it just may not be compatable with that computer, try another keyboard (again)
2. Confirm there are no wakeup events in CMOS, or update your BIOS (Note: do this at your own risk)
3. Otherwise I'd say motherboard issue (Although don't replace it, just turn off the computer at the wall as well)

I was playing a game, my system crashed to the point of the power shutting down. I could not turn the power back on immediately.

The keyboard that was in my system is now destroyed as a result. The lights on the keyboard blink repeatedly. This has happened twice now. Both times the keyboards were destroyed. Trying the keyboards on another computer did not solve the problem.

I haven't played any memory intensive games since the second crash, because I do not know if it was specific to the one game, or if I would destroy another keyboard.....and keyboards are starting to get expensive.

I have two questions, first is, anyone have any ideas on what caused the crash?

The second is, is there any way to reset the keyboards?

Thanks.

But at the end of the day, at some point, it seems to shift to a different scheme.   Is there a setting for this somewhere?

I have a Compaq Presario 7000, P4, 256RAM, etc. System is a couple of years old running Windows ME. System is used for gaming, internet, email, and that's about it. Just did a complete system restore which was successful. Was downloading 16MB of upgrades last night, and gaming at the same time. System kicked me out, only this time the monitor was blank, and all the keyboard lights are dead. Have tried rebooting several times, unplugged and reconnected everything. System powers up, HD light, CD, etc. light up, but monitor is in self test mode and says that the monitor is OK, check the video cable and computer, and keyboard lights are still dead.

Hello
I have an older (2004) Sony Vaio. I don't have the model number in front of me, but wondering if somebody can help me with a problem. Here's what happened:

Just bought a new video card for the computer (video card is the correct one for my computer). The computer was left on yesterday and I noticed later in the day the LCD screen was black and the keyboard and mouse lights are steadily blinking green, on and off. Tried to shut the computer down by the on/off button on the front of the computer. No go. I had to unplug the PC and I tried to fire it up and again it gave me no video and the blinking.

Please help me... before this happened, the computer worked great!!

Thank you for any help you all can give me!

I've browsed around various threads and I still couldnt find an answer, so I'll try my luck by asking.

My hp dv5 laptop does not boot up straight away, all that happens a blank screen awith flashing keyboard lights. I can get it to start but only after repeatedly turning it on and off for an hour or two( many wasted hours -_-)
This all started as a minor issue where it would take about 3 or 4 restarts and then would proceed to boot up normally. As time went on it grew increasingly longer, so i looked around on various forums and I read a few problems people had with poorly applied thermal paste on heatsinks. I bought some paste and disassembled my laptop to the mother board( cleaned it out in the process) the previous thermopaste had cemented and so I removed it and applied the new paste. Once assembled, the problem still remained.
I'd appreciate any help as I don't have big mulah to spend on new laptops or expensive parts. Thanks in advance

Lo mate Sorry about your problem. I can relate the same thing happend to me about 2 weeks back! its a bummer.
Anway to cut a long story short I finally gave in and took it in to a local shop they also couldnt find anything wrong with it.
If I were you I would send it back to the people who you purchased it off and see what they say I did that and it tured out to be a faulty motherboard they were happy to send a replacement. It still didnt work with the new one! So I decided to buy a brand new CPU with a higher FSB not using my old one. My old CPU wasnt comptible even though my board was suppoed to take it.

Double check things and tell the supplier.

good luck hope it works out for ya mate.

I recently finished assembling a PC for someone. It contains:

Motherboard (ECS GeForce6100PM-M2 Motherboard - v2.0, NVIDIA GeForce 6100, Socket AM2+, MicroATX, Audio, Video, 10/100 Ethernet LAN, USB 2.0, Serial ATA, RAID --- $50): http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=3581158&CatId=2320

CPU (AMD Athlon 64 X2 4600+ Processor ADO4600DOBOX - 2.40GHz, 1MB Cache, 1000MHz (2000 MT/s) FSB, Brisbane, Dual-Core, Retail, Socket AM2, Processor with Fan --- $60): http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=2207256&CatId=2328

After I finished putting everything together, I turned the computer on. All the fans fired up, but I hear no beeps from the little speaker and I see no video on the monitor.

I've tried to dismantle and reconstruct the system, as well as tried to power it on with nothing attached to the motherboard except the CPU and one stick of ram. Same result.

If I remove all the ram and all the parts, except the CPU, the PC speaker beeps non-stop.

My guess is I ruined the CPU during installation some how... perhaps I touched a couple contacts on the bottom of it. I don't know why else I would not see anything on the screen as far as the BIOS is concerned, but I also don't know what to make out of he no-beeping (except when ram is removed)... it makes me wonder just how brain dead this thing is.

Thoughts/Suggestions?

Hello.

Um. I Don't really know what to say about this, as it seems a bit strange here goes

I have a computer desk that has an overhead storage cabinet, and underneath this cabinet is a fluorescent light bar that I can switch on.

It looks like this

These days, everytime I switch this light on (OR switch off) (I use a Razer BlackWidow Ultimate keyboard with LED on), the keyboard lights are gone and I hear the sound of a disconnected device in Windows 7. The keyboard is completely disconnected for 5-6 seconds.

Sometimes the mouse too, the pointer wont move, but it is VERY rare. (only once it happened)

Err..maybe it's a power supply issue? I've had my desktop for nearly 2 years without a problem then this started happening around 4 weeks ago.

Behind my desk, are TWO electrical sockets on the wall, the first one is for an extension cable that connects the CPU, monitor, Printer, etc., while the second one is just for that Fluorescent bar.

What's going on?

Please ask me anything you need to help you too, I'll try to answer it the best I can.

A:Keyboard Temporarily Switches Off after Turning on Desk Lights? O_O

What I would try first is a surge protector for the PC, monitor and printer. Their should be one anyway in my opinion.

Your keyboard is wired so I don't think it's a RF from the light.

You could also try another light and see if it still happens. A faulty light could cause a surge in current.

Having a qualified person check the wall outlet.
