I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

First of all - Welcome to BC !

Can you give some details of these computers - make, model and so on - it gives us something to go on.

When you say 'the bottom of the page', do you mean the task bar on the desktop, or at the bottom inside one application or another?  I am not familiar with a zoom control on the task bar but a lot of applications, from image viewers through graphics software to MS Office, have a zoom function. But this almost always uniformly expands or shrinks the complete page, text and everything included. And, more to the point, the zoom control goes wherever the designer of the software decided to put it.

Recently purchased an Acer 5733.

Why will my new higher zoom setting not remain as such, until I wish to reset.

It seems erratic from one web page to another, and often automatically returns to 100%.

Sometimes when I return to previous viewed web pages, the higher setting will have remained.

If I set at 125% I want it to stay there!!

Is there any movie players that let you zoom while its in full screen, i know many dvd players have a ZOOM feature, and i was wondering if any movie players on pc's do, because i hate letterbox/black bars!

let me know!

A:zoom feature in movie player??

because i hate letterbox/black bars!

I believe you're talking about aspect ratio, not zoom. Most players have a place to set the aspect ratio, and some codecs have aspect ratio settings. On standard TV's and monitors, generally you use a 4:3 aspect ratio, on widescreens generally you use 16:9.
There are also different stretch settings offered by different software packages. Cyberlink PowerDVD offers CLPV stretching while other software packages have different pixel stretching or doubling techniques, these stretching techniques can have a large impact on the video viewing quality.

I bought a E520. I am not liking the touchpad on this thing. It hangs up and does not respond a lot of times. The biggest thing that irks me is that my screen will zoom in and out when I run my finger along the touchpad or when tapping it. I know you can use the "pinch" with two fingers to zoom in and out but mine will zoom with just a tap of one finger. Someone must know how to disable the zoom feature. Can you describe in detail to me how to do that? I called Lenovo support about it and the guy said it might be a software or hardware problem and told me to take it into a repair facility. There must be a way in settings to turn that off. I just want the touchpad to work normally, as in move the cursor around.. thats it, nothing more. Can someone help me with this??

A:How to turn off zoom feature on touchpad

Hi,

I've been using XP Pro for a few years now. However, on my last re-install I left off ACDSee and was just going to use XP's own settings for viewing photos. I'm now using SP2.

I was certain that in the 'filmstrip' setting for photos there was a 'Zoom IN/OUT' option - am I wrong? I only have 4 buttons for:-

Previous Image
Next Image
Rotate Clockwise
Rotate Counter Clockwise

I'm using TweakUI + TweakXP Pro 4, I've checked everywhere but I can't find anywhere that the zoom option has been unchecked? Is it there or can I enable it somehow?

Thanks

A:Zoom feature in 'Filmstrip' of My Pictures?

I found this site:-

http://www.mdpublishing.com/MedicalDealer/BioMedToday/TechTips/04/Jul2.htm

It states here that:-

Another new WindowsXP applet is the Picture & Fax Viewer. To view files as you would in a slide show, just right-click on any graphics file and select "Preview". The Viewer applet will open and the controls at the bottom allow you to navigate, zoom, copy, etc. This is a very quick and useful feature that is always available in Windows Explorer.

Sure enough, all the icons that I'm sure were always there appear in this window *but* I would like them there ALL the time when viewing in filmstrip mode - is it something simple I'm overlooking here?

Thanks

I have an HP dv3 laptop with a synaptics touchpad. Swiping the left edge of the touch pad causes programs which have a zoom capability to zoom in and out. There is no documentation from HP or Synaptics or Microsoft that I have been able to find which even acknowledges that this feature even exists. I would like to turn the feature off because I keep activating it by accident, but I cannot find a setting anywhere. Perhaps there is a registry setting I can change?

A:Want to disable left edge zoom feature

Some additional information: the pointer becomes the crossed lines with arrows that I associate with Move during the swipe and then after the release the shrinking circle occurs as if I had pressed the CTRL key to locate the cursor. The advertised way of doing a zoom with the keypad is to hold the CTRL key and swipe the right edge.

Howdy, my brother! He says the virus on his Y!Mail is hardware independent - and modeled the behavior he found at the motel - i.e. when he attempts to write a new email or forward one, a script inserts nuisance text in that message. After he experienced that on my pc, web browser windows now run a script which hijacks the Zoom-in / Zoom out control and locks-up at either the zoom in or out (out is worse) because you only see a corner of the raster.I ran Malwarebytes Anti-Malware, AdAware, and my installed Avira AntiVir Guard - none of which detected anything but cookies. I installed some new camcorder software which rebooted the system. But after the Windows start-up screen, the screen just goes BLACK and the system is unresponsive. I booted in Safe Mode with Networking, downloaded and ran HijackThis to get log. I ran Dr.WebCureIt - which detected nothing in this mode. I have timely news video for CNN iReports Independence Day coverage which I seek to transfer from my camcorder to edit on this tower - if you would please help me get it back working again. Well, up until recently I've had no trouble with my new computer. After setting the zoom to 200% it's stayed that way. Now though it's taken to going back to default every 5 frickin' minutes! I am not sure what this is called, but we've all seen this on TV (especially on shows like 20/20) where they take a regular picture...and as the picture is zoomed in, the subject of the photo is almost 3d, standing out from the background. How is this done? Is there a tutorial online anywhere?
I like creating photo slideshows and being able to do this would be nice...thanks!!

A:3d zoom? How?

Can't give you a step by step for a particular program, but basically you would start by duplicating the image, then cutting out the main subject.

So you have the original image on the bottom layer, and the cut-out subject on the top layer. If you do nothing else, no one would know that there are two layers, because they are identical except for the missing background in the top layer.

Apply the zoom-blur effect to the bottom layer. Now pretty much anything you do to the cut-out subject on the top layer will make it seem to pop out of the background. Lighten it. Enlarge it a bit. Add a subtle drop shadow. That's what I did to the still image attached. Because its visual properties are now different from the original image in the bottom layer, it'll just jump out at you, and it doesn't take much.

In video you can push in slowly on the cut-out subject, which is I think what they do on the tv programs.

Hi there, I've been trying to install my Zoom PCI modem within Winfax pro but Winfax doesn't see my modem.
Has anyone seen this before?

A:Winfax and Zoom DSL PCI

Let me get this straight..

You want Winfax to recognise an ADSL modem for fax calls?
This modem is not a 56k Dial up as well, just ADSL?

If so, no can do.

ADSL runs "over" the phone line / cable, not "through" it.

Fax's operate through the dial-up process and cannot be accessed by ADSL modems.
You need a 56k fax/modem for that, not ADSL.

My daughters laptop has started displaying the "End Program" box whenever she shuts down (this box doesn't appear everytime though).

The program that supposedly is not responding is "Zoom In", i have taken it into a computer shop and they are unable to find what this is, they even checked all of the registry information.

The laptop is an Acer Expensa and is running windows XP, has anyone any idea what this is and why this is happening?? it's more of a nuisance than anything else.

My laptop has just starting showing the above message whenever I shut down or restart. It then gives me the option to "End Now" or let it end itself.

What is this error for as i've noticed that the laptop is also running slower not sure if this is connected to this or not.

Any help would be appreciated

Often when I start my computer my CPU usage reaches 100% even though no programs are running. When I go to reboot it, an "End Program - Zoom In" window pops up and I have to click on OK to end the program for the computer to shut down. It seems obvious to me that this "Zoom In" program is using all my resources but I don't know how to keep it from starting - and it doesn't always start.

My computer is an Acer TravelMate 2300 with an Intel Celeron 1500 Mhz processor and 1.23 Ghz of RAM, Windows XP Home Edition SP2. I have AVG anti virus and run AVG Spyware, Ad-Aware, and SpyBot regularly.

Thanks

A:CPU 100% and End Program - Zoom In

Either search for that program and option to start at boot-up, or this small program will work great to control what starts up; http://www.mlin.net/StartupCPL.shtml , and select the version that installs into the Control Panel, (listed first), rather than the stand alone version. I find this really helpful as compared to the built in msconfig.exe
