Q: Dell Warranty less than 6 months on new Purchase

I have purchased one Dell Vostro 3546 series laptop 2 days back i.e 4th June 2015. When I checked the Warranty details for my laptop (tag <ADMIN NOTE: Service tag removed per privacy policy>) it shows that the warranty will expire on 24-Dec-15 which is less than 6 months whereas the Dell provides the 15 months warranty for this laptop.
It shows that the product is shipped on 24-Sep-14 and thus the warranty will expire on 24-Dec-15 but how come the warranty will expire when the product was not at all purchased by customer.
I have purchased this laptop from authorized dealer under the bill from Nehru Place and request you to please let me know the solution for my problem.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I bought a Dell Inspiron 15 5567 on 2/01/2017 from Reliance Digital Store Pune. Dell support assist shows that my warranty started on 14/09/2016 and will end on 14/09/2017. As far as I know warranty should start from the date of purchase on the invoice. So I searched a little bit and got to know about the ownership transfer process. I did that 15 days ago but still haven't received any notification regarding the same. Can you guys please help regarding this process. I don't know what to do now as my warranty will end in 12 days.

If the ownership transfer doesn't go through, contact the seller to find out why - if the system was originally sold through a grey market channel, you can indeed have transfer issues - your seller should be able to tell you.

My laptop is only under warranty for a few more days. I have tried several times over the past few months to purchase an extended warranty, to no avail. 1. Support can't help. I even included a summary when I sent in my laptop for repair this past month and mentioned the laptop's problems.  On the same letter inside with my laptop I asked to PLEASE HELP ME BUY AN EXTENDED WARRANTY. I just received an email that my laptop is fixed and being returned but NO OFFER TO BUY AN EXTENDED WARRANTY! 2. Chat people refer me to Sales.3. Sales people bring my system's info up on their computer system and apparently can't access it in order to sell me an extended warranty??Or, at other times, sales people say THEIR SYSTEM IS DOWN, PLEASE TRY BACK as they can't access that function [to buy an extended warranty]. I guess I SHOULD HAVE bought it within the first month or two I owned it, when I COULD ACCESS the purchase page for extended warranties. This really bites.  I have owned several computers under the Acer family's name, Acer, GW and eMachine. This LACK of being able to buy an extended warranty is REALLY making me think to look elsewhere, especially as Black Friday is kicking off this week throughout the USA. Maybe I should just use this recently repired acer laptop under it has some hardware issue, BUT BUY A DIFFERENT BRAND during this BF sales week.

A warranty is supposidly 12 months yet i have only had mine 1 1/2 months and is says i only have 8 months warranty left, somethings wrong there and looking at the dispute page it looks like you cant dispute it until they says its run out????

Hi Is it registered with HP? When registration occurs the warranty would be adjusted to start from the born on date (I think you press ESC and then F1 to view this). So if you could try that and then ask again if there is still a difficulty.

Hi, Inspiron 13 7000, 2 months out of warranty and they are telling me its tough, pay for repair at 80% of original cost, if this is not uncommon then is this a design fault that can be challenged ?

Hi, I have a Compaq Presario V5000 which I only bought a few months back. It was fine at first but I had a little incident where because someone switched off the laptop by pressing the power button during startup the "My documents" folder became corrupt. Now I dont know if thats the cause but recently it has been running quiet slow. It doesnt freeze but just just takes a while to run/load things. Just yesterday I reinstalleed XP and it is running a bit more smoothly but is still slow compared to what it was. I guess it cant be Spyware/malware or virus because the hard drive has just been formatted (during reinstallation of the OS) I've also downloaded all the drivers for everything i could think of. Is there anything else I should check?

I purchased a Yoga 720 15" 2in1 three weeks ago and I am trying to decide if, when, and the type of warranty extentions I should get.I can add the " products " to the cart but I can not find the small print anywhere.  IF I decide to get additional coverage I would likely go for the maximum available but I want to know what the coverage is prior to purchasing it. About a month ago my computer would not charge. Purchased a new power cord but that was not the issue. The motherboard has went out on the computer. I paid about $1200.00 for this computer hoping it would last me through college. Now halfway though my second year, I'm looking at having to buy a new computer. Hello, I have bought this HP 15 Notebook (product no. N4G35PA#ACJ) from Flipkart.com on 18th march 2016. As per the invoice/purchse date (18-03-2016) and product description (1 year warranty) the warranty should end in 24 March 2016. But I can see (on 16-05-2016) in the HP support assistant window that it is showing "Warranty and services remaining for 8 months". It means I get only 10 months warranty on the product and not 12 months. I registered my product as soon as I received and started using it in March 2016. I donýt understand why it is showing like this. And what do I need to do to rectify the warranty information. Please suggest ASAP.

Hello everyone. I'm thinking of purchasing a T470 and it appears that it comes with a 3 year onsite warranty as standard here in the UK (with the student discount anyway). My main question is that will I be able to make warranty claims even if I'm not in the UK? I'm going to be going to China in August and I'll be there for a good 10 months (maybe more) so I want to know if I'll be able to make warranty claims there. Going along with that, if I am able to make warranty claims in China, will I have to make the claim in Chinese to Lenovo China, and what is the chance that the technician speaks English (especially in a second tier city)? I'd say my Mandarin is "OK" at the moment but I know very few computer related terms. I think I could just about get by with what I know and the dictionary app on my phone, a roommate helping, or someone in the International Students office helping over the phone, but I'd feel much better having making the claim and talking to the technician in English if possible. Finally, I'll probably buy some RAM and a SSD from Amazon if the price is significantly cheaper than Lenovo. Will I have any problems with this if I need to make a warranty claim? Thanks in advance!

Hello, I recently purchased Lenovo Flex 5 (14") laptop (Part Number:  80XA0011US). This comes with 16.0GB DDR4 2133 MHz and 1TB 5400 RPM+128GB PCIe SSD.  I have 3 questions: 1) I am hoping I like the laptop. If for some reason, I want to return it, how many days I have? Hello! I bought a Dell Inspiron laptop several months ago (new) and last week it stopped charging. Two issues here: 1. purchased the laptop 12/04/2016 - Warranty expired 14/08/2016 (4 months) 2. Laptop has been increasingly unuseable due to significant flickering on screen then moving to sleep mode.Ive updated all drivers, also completed a reset but to no availAlso when coming out of sleep mode I get a black screen but if I run my finger along the top bar (the F keys) the display re appears until it starts flickering again and then to sleep mode Ive a couple of videos that shows this in action Any help would be greatly appreciated Nick

I've been trying to find a solution to this online for a few days now and haven't come across anything. I have a Toshiba Satellite Fusion. It was working beautifully until the other day when I went to use it. It wouldn't power up so I assumed the battery was dead. Plugged it in and the charging light didn't come on but the computer powered on. The laptop recognizes that it's plugged in and shows that the batter has a 100% charge on it but will not run unless it's plugged and will shut off instantly when unplugged. I've tried using another charging cable with no luck and I'm unsure at this point what next step to take. I would pop the battery out and put it back in but this one doesn't have an easily accessible battery and I'm trying to avoid taking it apart if possible. I haven't located a battery reset button on the bottom either.

As noted in the title it's two months out of warranty otherwise I'd just send it in.

Any help on this subject would be greatly appreciated.

It seems Lenovo just rolled out new plans for  Thinkpad customer to choose their warranty add-ons. It moved from old optional plans with different extent of bundled products (e.g. ADP, KYD, Sealed battery) into an a-la-carte item model for the customer to choose. I compare Lenovo online sales website in HK, JP, SG and US and have the following findings: 1. Not all countries have rolled out the new warranty options scheme yet (e.g. Lenovo HK and Lenovo JP is still using old "bundled" warranty plan option) 2. Inconsistencies on the choice of additional warranty services available for Thinkpad customers (For Levono SG, Seal Battery, Keep Your Drive are not available as add-ons if the customer chooses Depot Warranty plan, while Lenovo US offers these add-ons to both Depot and Onsite Warranty. Meanwhile, Lenovo US customer need to buy an add-on for international warranty but Lenovo HK, SG offers the international warranty to all new Thinkpads they sold. 3. Lack of transparency on warranty add-on pricing. I noted Lenovo SG priced Seal Battery Add-on for T480s at SGD330 but same Add ons in Lenovo US is only quoted at USD$26. Can Lenovo explain why such discrepencies happen? And welcome you all share your findings on the Thinkpad warranty add-on offerings in your home country.

HiThe fan of my less-than-half-a-year-old T470 suddenly began to emit strange noise and I went to a local service provider in CA. My laptop was bought in Russia with a 3-year international warranty. The service provider told me that he might have to send it back to Russia, and they will consult with Lenovo within a week. Before buying laptop, Dell store person told that I will get express service and the person will visit home if there is any issue. But now there is no one to help even when I called 8 times since morning.

Just received and installed replacement Mobo from Dell.   All is well except now when it boots.  States no bootable device.  
* The HDD is plugged in
Per Dell tech support, they sent a replacement Motheboard.   Mobo installed fine.
States cannot fine bootable drive.
* HDD is plugged in
* HDD in #1 in BIOS boot order
Does this have something to do with the Windows 10 Pro system key in BIOS?
Dell sent me the S/N and product key card.

I got a DELL Inspiron 7559 in July 2017. The rear left corner is already pulling a part at the seam. It doesn't seem to be the hinge, but it does pull further a part when opening and closing the screen. 
I called DELL support. Even though the computer is only 5 months old, this problem isn't covered under warranty. 
Online, it looks like several other 7559 buyers have experienced the exact same problem. It seems unethical of DELL to have a recurring manufacturing problem and refuse to repair it.
Any suggestions on options to get the split repaired without spending $140?

I was extremely disappointed in my attempt to purchase (Dell Purchase ID: 2005718625152) a computer from the Dell website. Although I have paid for the computer, which the amount was withdrawn from my account (in my bank account exhibits this message $ 2,086.50 DEBIT AUTHORIZATION Sep11 10:59a 5046AT 10:59 DELL SALES & SERVI 866-393-9460), the Dell insisted during 3 days that my bank refused the card. So I requested the cancellation of the purchase. According to the agent in the chat with a Dell sales representative, the purchase was canceled, but I did not receive confirmation by e-mail and after 4 days the money still did not return to my account. I'd like to buy a computer in another store, but I need my money back to do this purchase. Therefore, in this moment I have no computer and no money. A total disappointment. I have always bought DELL computers, but this time I will change and I will never buy a DELL computer again.

Dear all,
Good afternoon. I would like to check on where can I buy a PSU for a Optiplex 390 SFF?
My warrenty is already over and I know it is the PSU that is faulty as I did some testing with another working PSU and hence I need to replace the PSU in order to get the desktop up again.

Just bought this laptop (Dell Inspiron N5110) few months ago, since yest. after rebooting the laptop, am NO longer can access second partition (D), Windows management tool says -> RAW mode. plus, he become so slow, it takes him like 20 min. to load desktop.
Partition C is still reachable, browse, open soft. etc..
Dell diagnostic boot tool, found an error on HD "error code 2000-0142"

I prefer not to format the hard disk, I have important project stuff related to my work on the second partition. and yes, am a real jackass I didnt make any BACKUP of the data, so am quite lost here..

any advise please? what should I do? can I recover the data from D somehow?

Contact Dell in Austin, TX. They actually are a good company and will assist you. They will more then likely ask you to send the computer back to them. If you can save anything from the HD then do so as they will most likely wipe it clean or install a new drive. I am guessing that you bought this new from Dell.

I currently have a DELL Vostro 1310, which is now around 10yrs old. Whilst it is working well still and has been very reliable I do need to upgrade.

My question is based on my lack of knowledge. If I give some criteria could someone advise me on perhaps a few best options?
1) Style & looks don't matter / my 1310 is an ideal size - so something similar. I'd rather have capability than looks.
2) I don't play games
3) I am looking for it to open programs and pages fast
4) I need to run with many pages / windows open at the same time, without slowing down its operating response
5) I store most of my large files / photos on an external hard drive.
6) The programs I run most are Excel, Word, Internet, Outlook, Music, Steaming or Downloading Video. 
7) Speed - I need it to operate and open and close programs quickly, or multiple programs
8) Internet connection would be via standard wifi.
9) I don't want touch screen!
Basically I don;t fully understand about memory and processors etc, as to which offers which benefit. So based on what  my needs are, can anyone suggest the best option, as the more I look at the extensive options on DELL website, the more I get confused!

Basically, any current system with an i3 or higher CPU and a screen with a maximum of FHD (1920X1080) will work.  If you're using this for business, a Latitude is a better choice than an Inspiron or XPS (or Vostro if you're in a part of the world where those are still sold).  
Though you might find 4K screen resolution appealing, seriously consider whether you're willing to live with the trade-off that such a screen will bring (smaller pixel size, much lower battery runtime, and much reduced video performance if you're going for a small/lightweight system).

Today I face the same issue with poor quality hinges which got broken. I will request  all to say no to DELL laptop.

After 6 -7 month of use your hinges gone. Dell India support say, this does not cover on warranty.here was no drop, spill or accidental damage done to the laptop.
Dell India support  say it is due to usage. Please note laptop is meant to be use and not to keep on showcase. If your hinges broken with in 6 month, do you think next time the same user will ever look for a Dell laptop.
Either improve your quality in India or replaced your poor quality spare. Or else simple go away from India.
Our PM Mr Modi will not tolerate such poor quality service to Indian. I am going to take this matter to highest level. Please inform your India service to replace my hinges asap.

I had bought Dell XPS L502x exactly 13months back. Since its an era of Flash Drives, I rarely use my DVD Drive to read/write. My DVD Drive reads most of the DVDs. But it never burned a DVD successfully. I have tried writing DVDs occassionally over last one year, and when It fails, I thought its due to the poor quality of Disc. Yesterday I tried to Burn Windows 7 ISO to a DVD to recover my PC at home. After 3 failure to write disc.
I decided to test my drive, I bought MoserBaer PRO DVD-R, DVD-RW, DVD-DL and Sony DVD-R, DVD-RW, DVD-DL.
After wasting first four DVDs in the process, I decided not to waste last 2 Sony DVDs.
I am out of Warranty. What should I do?

MY recent purchase of Dell Inspiron 15 3000 has been a nightmare I spend more time trying to get it to work then doing anything else can hardly get on even a web page before it freezes up or takes for ever to just load ,watch a video almost impossible refresh, refresh ,refresh then the total freeze up have to yank out battery pack reinsert and sometimes that will work sometimes have to wait and do it again when I am done going GRRR for a few days couldn't even get it to start .Oh I have had the tec. people call and try to help but never seems to work right now I have the battery pack pulled out and only using my power cord .
I have run numerous  sfc /scannow as come up with numerous errors that cant be fixed I think there is something wrong with this series of laptops oh and btw this wasn't the one I even ordered but was sent it anyways and when I told them wrong laptop the day I got it they said I had ordered the one with the DVD drive I said yes but I didn't get that one then connection was broke and when I got back to them they sent me a link to a laptop I ordered and again had a DVD player but I couldn't get it to sink it I was sent wrong laptop and still got stuck with with one that don't hardly work

Hadn't used Dell products before. One year and 3 weeks to the day after I received my 7359 I turn on and "no bootable drives found".  I run the internal diagnostics and it passes all tests including hard drive test. I ring Dell in Australia where I purchased the laptop and they cannot help as I am currently living in Thailand. I ring Dell Thailand and they advise that it must be a hard drive failure but I have no confidence in that advice as their English is not so good and they can't explain how the hard drive can pass the internal diagnostics and still be defective. They advise they will send me a quite for a new hard drive (SSD 250 GB), which I am currently awaiting. To say I am not happy would be an understatement. 3 weeks out of warranty and the PC dies. Can anyone offer any advice or ideas about how I should or could now proceed? Thanks

Before going further, check your system setup to make sure UEFI is ON (not legacy mode) and that secure boot is enabled.  IF those settings changed, the drive won't boot.
If the SSD truly has failed:
If the system  is out of warranty, and the drive has failed, the least expensive approach is to buy a new SSD yourself, install it and reload Windows (available by download if you didn't prepare recovery media).
Dell will likely charge more for the SSD than you can buy it for in the open market.

Do I have to send it to a Dell repair place somewhere in the U.S. or can I bring it to a local place in the Chicago area? I can't be without my laptop for more than a few days so sending it through the mail is not an option. 
I am a little shocked that this very expensive laptop would have problems within the first 2 months. When I pay $2,500 I am expecting a little quality and quality control. 
In the mean time, I will use my Bluetooth speaker or my home speakers but it really *** knowing my sound will be bad if I go on the road and can't bring my other equipment with me.

The warranty terms depend on what you purchased with the system.  The default is a 1-year return to depot warranty.
If you upgraded (or now upgrade) the warranty to an onsite plan (extra cost), the repair will be done at your home or office.   That's the only way you can get local repair -- Dell does not use authorized repair shops in the USA.

i AM READY ?now? TO BUY A windows 7 Pro XPS on sale?  The last one I bought was ABOUT 16 month ago and it as an XPS 8700.  IT HAS BEEN FIELD TESTED BY MY 13/14 YEAR gRANDSON AND HAS PERFORMED FLAWLESSLY.
IF YOU HAVE ANY OF THE OF THESE UNITS ON CLEARANCE, PLEASE LET ME KNOW.  You originally quoted me one of these units at $814 on the 11th of July. You also said that you had some leeway in being able to lower that price.. I'm ready to buy one today if you could lower the quote to $775 inclusive of Tax.
