Q: cicero, script errors, lagging, slow, skipping computer

ok so I may have picked up a CICERO virus a few weeks as and now my computer is running like total *&^%$#@. I'm having script errors popping up (internet explorer script error, CCSvcHst and ccApp errors), when I shut down it seems like so many things are running and "end program" prompts show, my flash player .exe wont allow me to view content. it takes like 2 minutes to even open a new internet window, programs take forever to open and the entire system is sooOOO slow and skipping, and lagging like its just bogged down (not to mention that I just got a new itouch and I cant even get to itunes to sync it because it thinks the itouch is a flipp'n camera???...in my ineffective attempt to fix any of the problems I've run cleaners, malware scans etc but nothing seems to do anything.Edit: Moved topic from XP to the more appropriate forum. ~ Animal

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hi and welcome to BleepingComputer The process of cleaning your computer may require temporarily disabliling some security programs. If you are using SpyBot Search and Destroy, please refer to Note 2 at the bottom of this page. Please download Malwarebytes Anti-Malware and save it to your desktop.alternate download link 1alternate download link 2Make sure you are connected to the Internet.Double-click on mbam-setup.exe to install the application. When the installation begins, follow the prompts and do not make any changes to default settings. When installation has finished, make sure you leave both of these checked:Update Malwarebytes' Anti-MalwareLaunch Malwarebytes' Anti-MalwareThen click Finish.MBAM will automatically start and you will be asked to update the program before performing a scan.If an update is found, the program will automatically update itself.Press the OK button to close that box and continue. If you encounter any problems while downloading the updates, manually download them from here and just double-click on mbam-rules.exe to install. On the Scanner tab:Make sure the "Perform Quick Scan" option is selected. Then click on the Scan button. If asked to select the drives to scan, leave all the drives selected and click on the Start Scan button. The scan will begin and "Scan in progress" will show at the top. It may take some time to complete so please be patient. When the scan is finished, a message box will say "The scan completed successfully. Click 'Show Results' to display all objects found".Click OK to close the message box and continue with the removal process.Back at the main Scanner screen:Click on the Show Results button to see a list of any malware that was found.Make sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected. When removal is completed, a log report will open in Notepad. The log is automatically saved and can be viewed by clicking the Logs tab in MBAM.Copy and paste the contents of that report in your next reply and exit MBAM.Note:-- If MBAM encounters a file that is difficult to remove, you may be asked to reboot your computer so it can proceed with the disinfection process. Regardless if prompted to restart the computer or not, please do so immediately. Failure to reboot normally (not into safe mode) will prevent MBAM from removing all the malware. Note 2:-- MBAM may make changes to your registry as part of its disinfection routine. If you're using other security programs that detect registry changes (like Spybot's Teatimer), they may interfere with the fix or alert you after scanning with MBAM. Please disable such programs until disinfection is complete or permit them to allow the changes. About a week ago I was experiencing some random programs crashing (fullscreen videos and games), along with a few bluescreens. I noticed at startup I got the "Floppy Drive fail (40)" error, so I went into my CMOS and turned off the non-existant floppy. This seemed to stop the crashes, but now I'm experiencing 'skipping', if you will. Music played over the internet will skip, along with games such as Call of Duty or WoW will stop for a brief second or two, and fast forward. (Edit: I would like to add this happens to music offline as well)

This can happen for hours, sometimes only seconds apart. Here is the HJT Log:

What browser are you using?
Does your computer have all the latest updates?
Do you have Java installed? If so, does it need an update?
What site are you attempting to access?
What script errors are you getting?

Is your computer running slowly all the time, or just when you are accessing this web site?

Hi. Ever since I moved into my dorm my computer has been stopping for ~1 second every 2-3 minutes. The best I can describe the skipping is everything freezes and if there's sound it replays the last ~.3 sec of sound 2-3 times. The skipping isn't dependant on me doing anything, either.
Please help! I listen to music all the time and I can't live with the skipping any longer.

Hello, I have a problem. My mouse is skipping around to insanity and it drives me insane. I've tried to Uninstall / Reinstall the IDE Drivers and bios, Ive tried the Hardware acceleration, I feel that I've been trying everything but it still skipps around. I run on a Packard bell Laptop. Also the CPU peaks every 10 - 15 seconds. I saw that there was a thread about this but it was for XP and I run Vista 64.

So hopefully you guys could help me. I also have a problem with a USB hub I have, It's hooked up to my comp via a passive 5m USB cable, but it has its own electricity so it should match it up, still everytime my comp saves something to my USB Harddrive both my USB mouse and USB Keyboard gets turned off and on 4 - 5 times and then gets shut down permanently til i dissconect and recconect the USB hub

Maybe it has something to do with my current problem? Anyways Thanks in advance for the help

My computer was getting really slow, and it was starting to freeze and stutter. Eventually it wasnt able to run windows 7, so i reformatted and it is still running extremely slow, skipping, and studdering. Also, everything goes Not Responding for about 5 seconds. For example, it takes 15 minutes to open Internet Explorer.

When someone talks to me through their mic I here "this is a teeeeeeeest" when it should be "this is a test"
Not sure whats going on i tried the following:
Reformatting, Defrag, Disk Cleanup, Check Disk, Checked the BIOS.
Another key note is that windows 7 64bit worked fine for 6 months before this problem, i upgraded from Windows Vista 64bit.

Computer Specs:
4 Gigs Ram
500GB Hard Drive
Nvidia 9800 GTX+
Intel Quad Core 2.4Ghz
please ask me any additional questions, I'm not the best with computers and i would love some help.

A:skipping and lagging every few seconds.

Hi, there

Well if you have already tried all these steps: Reformatting, Defrag, Disk Cleanup, Check Disk, Checked the BIOS and if you still have problems with the system being slow and sound not being heard firmly i will have to recommend to reinstall WINDOWS 7 clean installation and once the OS is installed plz check for all the drivers and install all the drivers like Motherboard drivers, chipset drivers, Audio/Video drivers also.

And by looking at your system configuration, there should not be anything to worry because it defenetly meets all the criteria that is requeired for 64 bit windows 7 Operating System.

Hey I recently bought a new computer that is much better than my old one in stats but its not acting like it.

Windows XP
Service Pack 3
Intel Dual Core E5200
2.50GHz
2GB RAM

Now it was running ok to begin with but then the internet started having problems. It kept dropping out or fluctuating in speed and nothing seemed to fix it. It didnt happen on my old system it sat nicely at 54MB/s all the time.

Then the rest of the computer started going slow to start up so i got rid of some start up programs and desktop items which didnt seem to do much. And now ive noticed that when songs are playing in itunes they skip seconds every now and then.

Also when i click for programs to come up after i wait till everything is started up properly i have to wait a minute or two before they open. And burning DVDs has doubled in how long it takes.

Any ideas of what could be wrong, ive scanned for viruses using Avira and spyware using SUPERantispyware, ive cleaned registry using Registry easy and removed all unnecesary crap using CCleaner.

It got suggested that my computer was going slow because of AVG8 so i got rid of it and with got Avira but it slowed up again.

I'm not sure what the issue is with this laptop. It is a Lenovo running Windows XP. It takes forever for the machine to boot. Once it finally gets done, it will hang and lock-up for a duration frequently. When it finally decides to allow things to click along again, warning boxes will show up with various "unresponsive script" errors. I have run Malwarebytes and it comes up with nothing infected, but the quick scan took 1 hr. 35 minutes to complete. Having just finished cleaning up my daughter's laptop, I know this scan shouldn't have taken this long. This machine is used primarily for email and internet access and there is very little stored on it, so I can't imagine why it took so long to get through the Malwarebytes scan. Any insight into what is going on here is welcome!

I have this really weird problem when playing 3rd person games. For example in Resident Evil 5, when I run, the running doesn't go as smoothly as it should. Instead, the character kind of skips and shakes like he's glitching. This only happens to the character. The game doesn't lag at all and runs perfectly. This also happens in Alan Wake and Skyrim. It's really annoying and I don't think it should be happening since I have a good machine. I even tried lowering graphics... still the same. However it does not happen in ALL 3rd person games. Batman: Arkham City and Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood don't have this problem.

To sum up, it's just like a regular game lag, but it only happens to the character model. Any help would be appreciated.

I've added a video to additionally explain my problem.

I was messing around with some audio configurations the other night, basically trying to get things to sound 'louder'. Anyway, whatever I did I guess has made audio just about unlistenable. I don't want to fully restore my computer but is there a way I could just restore the audio settings? I think I've restored most settings for the audio but maybe I'm missing something.

I have a Lenovo laptop with "Realtek High Definition Audio" for the playback.

**edit: Seems to only be happening through iTunes! Just blasted some music through Youtube and the audio was fine.

A:Crackling, skipping, stuttering, lagging audio

Well, I searched around and it seems to be an issue with making sure the sound playback is at the same sampling rate as iTunes. So far so good. If anybody has the same issue I recommend making sure your iTunes sampling rate is at the same rate as the playback device settings.

Hi there,my name is Marius and I will assist you with your malware related problems. Before we move on, please read the following points carefully. First, read my instructions completely. If there is anything that you do not understand kindly ask before proceeding. Perform everything in the correct order. Sometimes one step requires the previous one. If you have any problems while following my instructions, Stop there and tell me the exact nature of your problem. Do not run any other scans without instruction or add/remove software unless I tell you to do so. This would change the output of our tools and could be confusing for me. I recently defragmented my drive and used Disk Clean up and have encountered some problems. I also de-installed Norton Internet Security because it was giving me problems and installed Norton Anti-virus instead.

I don't know if this is related to any of those things but since about the time that I defragmented my computer has been really slow and whenever I try to play any music file using Windows Media player the music is not continuous and it skips every couple of seconds while the hard drive seems to be working on something else even though I have no other programs running. All these music files are saved on my hard drive and it doesn't matter which one I play, they all skip. When I open task manager I also noticed that I have several copies of svchost.exe running (about seven of them).

Hi everybody, for the past few months my computer has been acting strange, and I figured it was time to ask someone else for help before I took it into the shop.

I'll start off with my computer.

System:
Microsoft Windows XP

Service Pack 2

HP
Intel
Pentium, 4 CPU 3.00GHz
2.99GHz, 512 MB of RAM

HP Pavillion zd8000 laptop.

Now the story :)

I bought this computer a while back, worked fine for a long time. Then the hard drive completely died on me. Brought it in, and got the hard drive replaced. It was sweet, it worked amazing for a good week. The out of no where the computer took forever to start up. When the windows XP sound that plays at the beginning played, it played all crackly and skipped parts, and was really drawn out (the sound goes for a good 3 seconds, but it went for like 6). Confused, I just went about my daily business on the computer, and started up Cubase, a recording program I use. I opened up a song I was working on and the program would freeze up often, skip seconds in the song, and made it impossible to work with. I went onto the internet and the internet was acting very slow too, not too bad but noticeably slower. Logged onto you tube, and the videos were skipping sound terribly. Still confused, I opened up Itunes, and all my music was skipping too. I checked the task manager and my CPU usage was off the charts, with almost nothing running. I deleted a bunch of stuff, reinstalled the drivers and still no... Read more

I have a 3-year old Toshiba A100-989 laptop. I did a complete reformatting about 5 months ago. Everything worked fine for quite a while.

Now the computer takes forever to start. When the windows XP sound that plays at the beginning played, it played all crackly and skipped parts, and was really drawn out. Listening to MP3 or watching videos is of course impossible now. It again takes an awful long time to shut down or to start programs.

I attached the hijack log file and hope that anyone can help me.

Thanks,
Baiano

PS: Windows is up to date, virus scan runs smoothly too.

My laptop is slow and sluggish no matter what I am doing. Startup takes a good 5 minutes on some restarts, and there is always high memory/resource usage, and my AV/AM programs are always turned off. I can't open anything or use my browser (Firefox or Chrome) without it locking up/not responding, or getting hundreds of non-responsive script or plugin errors. These will often take 10 minutes to resolve, and I usually just have to kill my browser and any open software/programs to get it to do anything. I've run scans, and they will pick up small things, but the problems are still there, and very frustrating.

OK, this is the third time I have tried to post a thread on her but the last two times my computer dumped it's memory and shut down before I finished. So I am on a different computer now. Here's what is going on.

About a month ago the issues started on my Compaq Preario V2000 with Windows XP. The music I was playing started skipping and I notcied the mouse was skipping at the same time as the music. It would intensify when I opened another program, to the point I couldn't recognize the song. So finally it got so bad I reformatted the hard drive and reinstalled XP. It ran great for a day and the old issues came back. Now there is a new issue, the memory dumping. It dumps all the time now, the error message is usually KERNEL_STACK_INPAGE_ERROR or KERNEL_DATA_INPAGE_ERROR. The computer also takes about 2-3 minutes to start when it used to take about 20 seconds from power on to welcome screen. CPU usage is also high (70-80%) even though on the processes list there can only be 10-20% being used.

Please help guys, I can't buy a new computer. I just can't lol

Hello,

A few days ago I noticed that my laptop was taking a long time to start up. I use Windows XP, and when I turned it on my computer it took about a minute to even get to the "Welcome" part. And then, you know that jingle that plays everyday Windows starts up? The sound cracked and skipped, it was like I was listening to a scratched up CD. It took a long time for my desktop icons to appear as well as the icons that appear on the right side of my taskbar.

Here are some details of my laptop:

Microsoft Windows XP
Home Edition
Version 2002
Service Pack 3

ASUS
EeePC
Intel(R) Celeron(R) M
processor 900MHz
900 MHz 504 MB of RAM
Physical Address Extension

Then, I tried watching a video on Youtube. Sure enough, the audio was skipping like crazy. I didn't pay as much attention to the video (most of the videos I watch online are songs with just a still picture), but I watched several others and the video did seem to be lagging as well, though the audio for what it's worth is worse.

I have Microsoft Security Essentials, and I ran a scan. It found hundreds of trojans. I don't know to copy a list of the ones it found to this post, but most of the trojans look similar to this: Exploit:Java/CVE-2010-0842.AN I removed all of them, ran another scan, and this time only a handful of trojans showed up. I removed those too. I ran a third scan, and my computer seems to be clean. And yet, all of the problems I've been experiencing remain.

My wife uses a Toshiba Satellite L675 laptop, running Windows 7 Home Premium, Purchased new in 2009, HD replaced by BestBuy Geek Squad in 2011. OEM OS and programs reinstalled then.  Running Avast AV and Malwarebytes, which indicate no issues.  Using IE11 as browser.  Connect wirelessly via NetGear router.

She primarily uses it to check email (Juno), news and travel sites, play Facebook Farkle and Scrabble and Windows Solitaire and Hearts.  Infrequently uses Word.  She usually opens separate IE windows for Scrabble, Merriman-Webster dictionary and email.

She complains that Juno (her home page) takes so long to load, often several minutes.  While managing email, it often hangs after selecting a few messages for deletion.  Hangs may last for several minutes and have had to use Task Manager to force closure of IE.  Same experience with Farkle and Scrabble.  Sometimes closing her FB newsfeed, if open, seems to clear the hang.  Clearing IE cache and temporary files has not seemed to help

Also receiving a "Page failed to display" message when trying to open or refresh above pages.  "Fix connection" doesn't identify any issues.  Sometimes repeated refreshing of page seems to clear the issue, but most often have to close IE and re-open.

I rarely use her laptop, but my observation is that it takes about five minutes from boot-up or restart to get to the desktop and several more before it... Read more

Hi. I have been having a problem with script errors whenever windows starts up. This started as a much bigger problem with a virus, but the virus has since been resolved, whie the script errors still hang around. It is not a serious issue, as I just need to hit no 3 or 4 times when the boxes pop up and then it's usually gone till I start up the computer the next time. Please see the following link: http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/t/319536/http-tidserv-request/This is where I began discussing the script errors, around post #8. If you have a chance, please review the post to see what has been done so far to try and resolve this. Do you have any other ideas on what could be causing this problem? Thanks!

A:Script errors on computer loading

What are these script errors?

Can you post some more information about them, like what they say, and what programs cause these. I would recommend screenshot, but a description is just as good.

Hello im having problems making my computer run at normal speed. It has been running slow for awhile now but recently VERY SLOW. It takes forever to boot up and any program I open also takes an eternity. Once the program is running it works fine.
I have scanned the computer w/ norton, malwarebytes anti-malware and spybot.
I removed all the harmful files. Spybot seemed to make it run slower.
In the task manager the CPU usage is at 100%. There are about 80 processes when I boot up the system.(seems like a lot)
I uninstalled a bunch of programs I never use to free up some more space and I also tried restoring it to an earlier date.
I gave it the newest updates for windows.
I deleted all the programs I dont need from the start up.
Today I tried running Malwarebytes' anti-malware today and it TIMED OUT!! taskmanager said program was unresponsive.
I'm not sure where to go from here. Do I have to wipe my hard drive??? Please help!!! It is a Sony VAIO laptop.

A:My slow lagging computer

<<I removed all the harmful files.>>

That seems to always be a presumption...by those who get infected. Of course, it's not necessarily true but users seem to like to say/believe it.

I guess that I have to ask...was your system infected?

Any error messages during this troubled period?

I'm not sure what's been happening lately, but my laptop has been running kind of laggy and slow. My specs are as follows:

Windows XP SP2
Intel Pentium M
1.60Ghz
1.12GB RAM
30GB HD (19.1GB Free)
Software: Avast! AV, Comodo Firewall

I initially thought that my computer would only slow after I started Trillian, but I tested this (by not starting Trillian), and it seems it will still slow a few minutes after a restart. Restarting my laptop seems to solve this problem temporarily.

I have run the following programs to test out any problems, but they all come back clean:

Chkdsk
Defrag
Avast virus scan
Spybot S&D
Lavasoft Ad-Aware

Keeping it in safe mode (I'm posting in Safe Mode w/ Networking right now) seems to also keep the problem at bay.

Help?

Thanks!

Hey, its been a while now since I've been having these problems. So I've fianlly decided to post on a forum and ask for help!

I have windows xp sp2 on a dual core p4 3.06 Ghz processor, 504MB of ram.

My computer used to work perfectly well before all of a sudden these problems started occurring. I have formatted my windows a hundred times but after a couple of days, the problems arise again.

Okay so to start with, my windows is taking forever to load. Once it loads, the windows introductory sound skips and glitches as it is with all the other music i play with itunes or any other software. When I play a video, the video also skips and makes weird sounds. My computer is being very slow with everything. When I open the task manager, I see the CPU usage varying constantly from 0 to 16 upto 70 percent, even when the windows is idle and system idle process is at a constant 98 percent. The system image is using 75000k plus memory (I thought it might be important in some way so I've mentioned it).

All this is really annoying. Is it a virus/malware or something? I have AVG anti-virus and everybody has told me its pretty good. Or is it a hardware problem with RAM or whatever. Please help me I'm clueless and I really don't want to reformat my windows AGAIN!

I'm posting my hijackthis log for you guys just incase it helps.

To add to the problems I just encountered another one: I got the disk read error while starting the computer. I restarted and it worked fine though. I've got this error many times before and had to reformat my computer each time but it doesn't work. This is pretty annoying. The computer is still very slow and the cpu usage now varies even to a broader range (uptill 100 to initially). Can someone please help me?

I'm trying to reinstall windows xp on a friend's Cicero computer. I want a full reinstallation, get rid of everything (documents, music etc). I have 2 cds: Windows XP(Home Edition SP2) and Hardware Drivers. The computer did not come with restore cds.
I had done this for her before, but she has since lost her manual and I have no idea what the steps are. Do you have any suggestions?
Thanks

A:reinstall windows xp on cicero computer

if those cds came with the cicero computer then just insert the winxp cd and restart.

Hi all,  As of the past few days my laptop (Dell XPS 13) has suddenly become slow.  For example, when I minimize or restore a browser tab it "hangs" or lags for a little bit before opening or closing.  It's nothing serious but since it wasn't doing this a few days ago I thought I'd check it out. Thanks! Scan result of Farbar Recovery Scan Tool (FRST) (x64) Version:05-06-2016 02Ran by Jeff (administrator) on JEFF-PC (05-06-2016 14:22:31)Running from C:\Users\Jeff\DownloadsLoaded Profiles: Jeff (Available Profiles: Jeff)Platform: Windows 10 Home Version 1511 (X64) Language: English (United States)Internet Explorer Version 11 (Default browser: Chrome)Boot Mode: NormalTutorial for Farbar Recovery Scan Tool: http://www.geekstogo.com/forum/topic/335081-frst-tutorial-how-to-use-farbar-recovery-scan-tool/ ==================== Processes (Whitelisted) ================= (If an entry is included in the fixlist, the process will be closed. Run tdss killer from http://support.kaspersky.com/viruses/solutions?qid=208280684
let it cure anything it fnds ( except SPTD.SYS or anything detected as UnsignedFile.Multi.Generic, which should be ignored) & then reboot
post back with its log
By default, the utility outputs the log into system disk (it is usually the disk with installed operating system, C:\) root folder.
Logs have names like: UtilityName.Version_Date_Time_log.txt.
E.g. C:\TDSSKiller.2.4.7_23.07.2010_15.31.43_log.txt

I ran spybot and removed a BUNCH of stuff. But it is still happening. Do I need to stop stuff at start up? If so how do I know what to stop? How can I find out what's running in the background? Any help would be greatly appreciated. I know nothing about computers other than mines slow all of a sudden

Hello,

I am trying to help out my mother on her computer and considering you guys helped me out on mine, I figured I should come back.

Anyways, the problem with this computer is it has a lot of junk files, folders and things on it, yet I am not sure which files and folders are needed and which are not. Along with that problem, we have the bad lag. Sometimes it takes quite a few minutes to load Windows itself as well as programs.

My mother runs a eBay business and enjoys downloading games and music, so I know that is some cause of the slowing down of her computer.

Attatched is a Hijack This log.

Thank you in advance.
