Please check out my HJT log...comp not responding and freezing up

Q: Please check out my HJT log...comp not responding and freezing up

Along with the above mentioned problems, there are also a couple of items that my firewall continuously requests access to the internet for... eridrb.exe and tbyhr.exe. I have no idea what these are or where they came from.

Prior to running HiJack This I ran Spybot, Ad-aware and Ewido Suite. Here is the logfile...

Preferred Solution: Please check out my HJT log...comp not responding and freezing up

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hi,

With my laptop, It seems to crash and stops responding after a while. I think my computer has a small bug but I cant run any scans because the laptop crash's. Even if its left on then after some time the laptop will slow downs its response time with opening something as small as a txt file and the mouse will stop responding and then just move slow.

Programs I have:
Windows Vista (Basic)
Kaspersky Anti Virus,
Spybot Search & Destory,
Spysweeper,
Ad-Aware

When i run them they just stop responding as does the laptop. Is it a security issue or is there something I can do?
The memory usage seems to be a bit high as this image shows.

I do have 1.5GB RAM

Help Please?

Could be heat, too much on the Hard drive,IE temp /cookie/cache is too full. When was the last time you cleaned out the case? How about deleting Cookie and temporary internet files? Oh and how about the last time you defragged the HD?

We started noticing trouble in our internet browser Google Chrome. Gmail would not respond at all and YouTube would drag loading videos. We have two computers in our home and the other computer works just fine with gmail and youtubes videos so we believe our internet connection is stable. I uninstalled Chrome and re-installed it but got same results. Also, internet explorer was having the same issues. Now, the entire computer system is running slow as if there is computer issues not browser issues.

Ran MS Security Essentials scans but no problems. Malware Bytes full version runs on our computer and no detected problems. Ran CCleanup but no detected problems but did remove alot of junk.

We are at a loss on how to proceed. We have had very good success in the past using Tech Guy support so we thought we would reach out for help.

Thanks!!

This was posted in the Windows XP forum and a user suggested I post here:

"Windows XP Pro 2002
SP2
2.61 AMD 64dual

I've been having this problem off and on for the last year or so. I know that seems like a long time to ignore a problem but it seldom froze and I just accepted that computers do that from time to time. However, within the last week, it's been getting pretty bad. I had it freeze three times in a row within 15 min.

Each time it freezes, I have to restart the computer. I know of no other way to pull it out.

There doesn't really seem to be any rhyme or reason to the freezing. Some times it will freeze when doing processor intensive activities like rendering out a 3D project (I'm a motion graphics artist) and some time it'll do it when I'm just browsing the web.

I only have a few guesses. I'm using wireless internet that is pretty spotty. Sometimes when the internet goes out, it seems to freeze; although the two may be unrelated. I have an external Seagate 1.4 TB HD hooked up via USB2. Some times, it will make this weird clicking noise (like it's searching the drive. It's brand new, so it's not going out or anything like that) and the comp will freeze. Again, they might be unrelated. Those are just my two guesses.

As you can imagine, this freezing has caused me to loose loads of work and is extremely annoying.

I'd appreciate any help.

Thanks,
Malcolm"

My comp. kept freezing the past few days, which led me to run virus scans with multiple programs (Lavasoft Adaware, Spybot, Malware Bytes, Microsoft OneCare). Venudo virus was found and removed, however, my laptop continues to randomly freeze. , sometimes within a few minutes of start up, but lately it's been after awhile (hour or longer). I'm wondering if there is some kind of process/virus that keeps getting overlooked by my virus scans. Below is my Hijack This Log. Thanks.

My computer has been freezing lately. At 1st it would freeze during or right before the windows welcome screen. Thinking it may be a hardware problem i checked the ram. After removing 1 removed a stick, leaving me with 720 mb I thought the problem was fixed but now it freezes during operation. It also freezes everytime i try to run a virus scan. I ran a few adaware scans, which came up empty the last 2 times. Now I'm not sure if the RAM had anything to do with the problem. Please help, here is my Hijack This log:

Please print out or copy this page to Notepad. Make sure to work through the fixes in the exact order it is mentioned below. If there's anything that you don't understand, ask your question(s) before proceeding with the fixes. You should not have any open browsers when you are following the procedures below.

Go to My Computer->Tools/View->Folder Options->View tab and make sure that 'Show hidden files and folders' (or 'Show all files') is enabled. Also make sure that Display the contents of System Folders' is checked. Windows XP's search feature is a little different. When you click on 'All files and folders' on the left pane, click on the 'More advanced options' at the bottom. Make sure that Search system folders, Search hidden files and folders, and Search subfolders are checked.

For the options that you checked/enabled earlier, you may uncheck them after your log is clean. If we ask you to fix a program that you use or want to keep, please post back saying that (we don't know every program that exists, so we may tell you to delete a program that we think is bad to keep).

Turn off system restore by right clicking on My Computer and go to Properties->System Restore and check the box for Turn off System Restore. Click Apply and then OK. Restart your computer. After we are finished with your log file and verified that it's clean, you may turn it back on and create a new restore point.

Lately, while on the Internet, my computer will freeze.
It starts operating normally after a minute or two.

I have run scans (superantspyware and malwarebytes) and they show clean.

A:Comp freezing

So your system actually freezes, then if you wait a minute or so, it'll start working again? Is this intermittent? Can you move your mouse cursor when this happens? Does Ctrl+Alt+Del work when it's frozen?

Please turn on Driver Verifier then provide us info using the instructions given here. Read both articles completely and follow instructions entirely.

There is also a KVM switch connected to both.

I have run Ad-Aware with the newest version along with the newest versions of spybot and cw shredder. I have also run several scans with panda and house call. I recently downloaded AVG Virus protection as well. None of these things brought up anything bad. I have posted my HJT log because maybe i am missing something any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

For example whenever I press Enter or Skip song on keyboard. When I click send on Msn, Start a download and few other random times. It mainly does it when I press something on keyboard, rarely with mouse. Could it be the keyboard? I also have Vista Home Premium disk but I haven't installed it. Hi i have an AMD athlon 2400+ , 1 gb ram, 240 gb hard drive ( 80 and 160 ). running windows xp.
the first time my pc started freezing was when i was running a movie. all of a sudden there was a click and a constant light on the cpu lights. no flickering as it normally does. then the keyboard and mouse wouldnt function. all i could do is restart the pc. after restarting it would run ok for 10 to 15 min and then again freeze. so i reinstalled windows over the existing one and it started functioning great. i got kaspersky and avg antispyware. did systems scans and everything was running fine till one week following the first incident. again it froze and when i manually reset, it lasted only till the xp logo, the next time i did it, it lasted till the option where i choose xp or windows 98. the next time it lasted till the processor start up.

i reinstalled windows again and it is running fine. why is this happening , any ideas. there are no viruses according to the antivirus and antispyware programes.

speed fan shows the
temp 1 -59'c
temp 2- 47'c
temp 3 - -1'c
HD 0 - 35'c
HD 1 - 47'c

could this be due to my hard drive ?
or a windows operating system problem.
any suggestions ? thanks

Stupidone,Since you have an open HJT log posted in the HijackThis Logs and Analysis forum, you shouldn't make any changes to your system. Which can be seen at this link: http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/t/91547/comp-keeps-freezing/That could change the results of the posted log, making it difficult to properly clean your system. At this point, the HJT Team should be the only members that you take advice from, until they have verified your log as clean.I'm closing this topic until you are cleared by the HJT Team. If, after your log has been cleaned, you still need help, please PM a Moderator and we will re-open this topic.

I've done malware scans and nothing comes up; I ran Wise reg fixer and that didn't help.

If you have any ideas I'd really appreciate it.

A:comp keeps freezing

I ran Wise reg fixerRegistry cleaners/optimizers are not recommended for several reasons: Registry cleaners are extremely powerful applications that can damage the registry by using aggressive cleaning routines and cause your computer to become unbootable.

The Windows registry is a central repository (database) for storing configuration data, user settings and machine-dependent settings, and options for the operating system. It contains information and settings for all hardware, software, users, and preferences. Whenever a user makes changes to settings, file associations, system policies, or installed software, the changes are reflected and stored in this repository. The registry is a crucial component because it is where Windows "remembers" all this information, how it works together, how Windows boots the system and what files it uses when it does. The registry is also a vulnerable subsystem, in that relatively small changes done incorrectly can render the system inoperable. For a more detailed explanation, read Understanding The Registry.
Not all registry cleaners are created equal. There are a number of them available but they do not all work entirely the same way. Each vendor uses different criteria as to what constitutes a "bad entry". One cleaner may find entries on your system that will not cause problems when removed, another may not find the same entries, and still another may want to remove entries required for a program to work.

hey, i got a new computer for my birthday a few years ago and one of my parents work associate's built it for me, he bought all the parts from newegg and assembled it. so ever since i've had it its been freezing up quite often. usually 1-4 times per day. i was wondering what could be the problem? i was thinking maybe its a compatibility problem with some of the components, or perhaps my CPU isnt powerful enough. i used to have 1gb of ram but i put in an extra stick to see if it would handle it but it didnt. here are my specs:

OS:Vista Premium x64
CPU: AMD Athlon 64 3700+ 2.20 GHz
Motherboard: Biostar GeForce 6100-M9
Memory: 2046 MB
Graphics Card: nVidia GeForce 7600 GT
Hard Drives: 111 GB HD

A:comp freezing

Computers freezing can be for any number of reasons.
When it freezes is the hard drive light on?
Go into your error logs to see if there is any event data.

probably going to need some more info...what were you doing when it froze, or is it random.....is it under warranty? probably should have been the first question.. if it is... thats the way to go....its a new machine thats not working...you shouldnt have to diagnose or fix anything on a new machine... got a warranty...use it. get what you paid for.. a working system. That being said.. people will need to know what your doing when it freezes, or just hangs from nowhere...is there a blue screen or errors?

Hi, I dont know much about the tech side of comps, but I was wondering if my computer could have a virus?
It did the strangest thing the other night.....i was asleep in my bed when all of a sudden i could hear noise coming from my computer...it sounded like the audio from a television show on DIY composting (weird i know) but when i got to my computer there was no programs running, when i got the screen up it just showed my normal desktop, yet there was still this audio running. So i turned the comp off.
I ran my antivirus the next morning with no detection of any nasties.
Does anyone know what could have caused it? (or am i going mad )

Please check my log.
****I was unable to complete step 4 (updating my operating system) at microsoft, could not complete the action.****

Cheers,
Susan

Welcome to TSF.

Please print the below instructions or copy them to Notepad. Make sure to work through the fixes in the order mentioned below. If there's anything that you don't understand, ask your question(s) before proceeding with the fixes.

O23 - Service: WServing Service (WServing) - Unknown owner - C:\WINDOWS\system32\wserving.exe

Go to Start->Run and type in notepad and hit OK. Then copy and paste the following into Notepad:

sc stop AFinding
sc delete AFinding
sc stop perfmons
sc delete perfmons
sc stop Routing

My laptop Frequently freezes and programs stop responding, its like the computer falls asleep, when I click on something i have to wait for up to 1 minute for programs to respond, this is with most programs on my computer. When I click on programs that I have minimised to the bar at the bottom I cant get them back up unless I double click on the program icon. I am pressing ctrl+alt+del every time I use my computer just to get programs to close.

In the WinXP forum I have posted (Win XP Programs Not Responding ) a problem of not being able to reliably use Windows programs such as IE, windows explorer etc. These programs seem to work fine in safe mode but when I boot normally they hang (not responding) and when I close them down or use ctl-alt-del the PC hangs.

When explorer hangs up and I leave the non-responding program open, I can get other applns to work OK , eg. notepad... However when I close down the non-reponding program (ie. explorer) the PC will hang - so my problem seems to be oriented to windows explorer and internet explore (which are obviously closed coupled into WinXP).

This sounds like a malware problem but so far I've been unable to find anything - and if it turns out to be something other than malware, what could it be?

Thanks for any help.

I have reason to believe a bad PSU is the reason for my random freezing on my computer. My tech level is somewhere between beginner and intermediate for computers so pardon my lack of knowledge.

I use SIW to monitor my computer and was wondering how accurate the voltage readings are because ive taken my computer to two different shops and both believe there is nothing wrong with my power supply yet SIW tells me my +12V rail is only outputting 5V. Another thing, i went through my event viewer and have 50+ red/yellow errors is that normal?

A:Comp freezing possibly bad PSU, help?

Do you or a fiend have a digital multimeter to test your power supply? That is your best way. Don't rely on software monitoring at this juncture.

And, yes, having those many errors is not good. Run a security scan.

OK, I just got back from a couple months backpacking Europe and Africa and during that time my sisters have been using my computer and I've come home to find it riddled with bugs. I ironed most of the out no problem but there's one that I just can seem to beat. Every time I try to play a game, when it gets to a point where the 3d engine is used my computer screen goes either all white or white and black staggered squares and my computer freezes hard requiring a reboot. Everything else works fine(2d, video playback, dvd playback) except for 3d. I've reinstalled the card with the latest drivers, made sure the card was at default clock setting, vacuumed my comp and run it with the case off to make sure it's not a heat problem. Latest directx and everything. So here's what I have.

pentium 4 1.8
abit sr7-8x
msi geforce4 ti 4200
wd 80gb 8mb
sb live audigy
512mb ram

anything else you need to know?
thanks in advance

A:Comp freezing/ popups HJT log help

Hello jeff,

I'm not seeing anything in this log. Let's see what an online scan will show.

Please run an online scan at http://www.pandasoftware.com/products/activescan.htm *Requires Internet Explorer.
Make sure you click the "Free Online Virus Scan" in the upper right hand corner of the page under the Free use Activescan header. We do NOT want the default spyXposer scan. Click on the Scan your PC button & a 'pop up' window shall appear. * ensure that your pop up blocker doesn't block it
Click On 'Scan Now'
Enter your e-mail address & click 'Scan Now' ...begins downloading Panda's ActiveX controls.- 8MB
Begin the scan by selecting My Computer
* You needn't remain online while it's doing the scan but you have to re-connect after it has finished to see the report.
If it finds any malware, it will offer you a report. Click on see report
Then click Save report
Post the contents of the report in your next reply along with a new HijackThis log.
* Turn off the real time scanner of any existing antivirus program while performing the online scan

A:help please with HJT, comp is freezing all the time

Hi That's not a full log.

Launch Hijack This.
Click on the Do a system scan and save a log file button. It will scan and then ask you to save the log.
Click Save to save the log file and then the log will open in notepad.
Click on "Edit > Select All" then click on "Edit > Copy" to copy the entire contents of the log.
Come back here to this thread and Paste the log in your next reply.
DO NOT have Hijack This fix anything yet. Most of what it finds will be harmless or even required.
