Q: Aspire V Nitro VN7-791G Touchpad tapping not worki...

Okay so this has been happening for a bout a monty now, when tapping on my touchpad it will select whatever folder or tab I'm tapping, but it will be stuck to the mouse and tapping will no longer work until I press the left mouse button. I've checked and made sure that the touchpad is on, tapping is also on, and everything else that should be on is on. This is getting quite frustrating and I need some help to fix this.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Greetings So after 15 months of usage, my laptop fan has started to not comply with me anymore and is randomly going up too high speeds and making strained noises. It is the right fan closest to the power chord. My warranty has exceeded and thereby im turning myself to Acer's forums to see if there is someone able to help me with the troubleshooting and hopefully solving my problem. Best wishes-Antsos

Hello. I purchased this laptop in February of 2015 and am unfortunately past the warranty, so before I go down the route of having to pay for a repair, I'm hoping someone can help me troubleshoot what is happening. Essentially, every time I boot the laptop, it will freeze/lock up (no error screen, just a hard lock) within 2 minutes of getting to the Windows login screen, if not immediately upon reaching that screen. Only way to reboot is holding down the power button and cycling power. After it reboots, it will sometimes run for a few hours without issue, other times it will freeze again shortly thereafter. Usage doesn't seem to matter - I can be playing video games, just browsing the internet, or not using the laptop at all (I have walked off with nothing running only to return to it being frozen). Again, no error screens/BSOD/etc. What are some steps I can take to try and remedy this, or at least determine what is causing the crash? No new software/games/etc have been installed recently or that correlate with the crash. I have tried the solution presented in this thread (http://community.acer.com/t5/V-and-VN-Series-Laptops/Aspire-V17-Nitro-Black-GTX860-video-driver-keep...) however the crash remains. I have uninstalled any non-necessary software put on the laptop within the last 6 months, long before the behavior began (about a month ago). After the laptop locks up, within a few minutes the fans will max out their speed. I installed temper... Read more

I have an acer aspire nitro black laptop that I bought at the end of January 2015 (Meaning I had it one year and 4 months when it broke).  The model number is VN7-791G-7484. The laptop is completely dead.  It was on when I went downstairs and off when I came back up with 0 signs of life.  Not even the light on the side with the cord plugged in was on.  I took it to the local repair guy and he verified that there is no power anywhere and that there was probably a short in the motherboard and I need to replace it.  He checked the websites where he usually buys replacement parts for laptops and the only motherboard he could find was $700, and that would not even include the labor to fix it. It is out of warranty and when I looked at the website the only repair options in the out-of-warranty section did not seem like they could help with my issue since it looked like a hardware problem. My question is...where can I get replacement parts for my laptop or find an official repair place that would actually have access to these parts for a reasonable amount of money?  Obviously I am not going to pay the price of a new laptop to fix the old one.

Okay so I already made a previous post on this but the answer to the problem turned out to not work. So I was playing a game with some friends, the game was running on the lowest possible graphics and the only other thing running in the background was skype. The computer after an hour cut to a black screen and shut down for about ten minutes for what I'm assuming was an overheating problem. Is there anyway I can fix this because it's really getting annoying.

Hello,I own Acer v17 nitro black edition from about a month and I was very happy. It did cover my expectation for hardware power combined with very good design. However the laptop seems to have serious issues with the cooling.I don't play very resource consuming games and in the matter of fact I play an online game which is about 5-6 years old.During the in-game expirience I began to notice lag which made the game unplayable after a research I found that the CPU is overheating and there was a throttling which decreased the clock rate of the processor to 700 MHz.CoolBoost is ON.Active cooling is ON.I even took the laptop to an autorized service and everything seems to be OK with the hardware cooling. The only thing that helped and made the laptop usable for gaming is that I decreased the maximum CPU to 85%.CPU now run at 2.2 GHz clock rate at most. ( Standard clock rate of the CPU is 2.6 to max. with Turbo Boost 3,6 GHz) I don't believe that such expensive laptop should have such issues with such load.Does someone have any solution for the overheating ?Maybe someone from the Acer staff could help ?I'm very dissapointed from the product right now.

Rictus,

I'm uncertain of why it would just start happening randomly. I'm not sure if you have tried a system restore to before the problem started happening to see if there might be some sort of software corruption interrupting the cooling process. I know that you said you took the system to a authorized service center, I assume that means you contacted Acer and sent the system to them for testing?

I recently bought an Aspire V 15 Nitro vn7-591g-56jg, for the first few days I had no problems. However recently I've found that the touchpad often becomes very slow to respond and unusable at times, also if I'm watching media and try to use the touchpad (whilst it's being slow to respond) the audio cuts out slightly and the media player doesn't work properly. If I restart the laptop the problems disappear but only temporarily. I have a wireless mouse that I can use that seems unaffected by the problem. Is there a fix for this? Any responses would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

So i just bought this laptop, it has like 3 days. And the touchpad is just awful, isn't it? So many problems about it, i've updated my drivers but it changes nothing at all.  Issues I have are about the mouse going in random position for idk what reason, Touchpad recognize touching as a right click from time to time, blocks on left click, and so and so and so and so....  The only way to fix the stuff TEMPORARLY is to disable the touchpad with FN+F7 and activate it again... Is this the official way to work with this pc?  This is such a great laptot for gaming and anything else but this touchpad...  Anyone have a solution that will work permamnently, not for 5 min?

Hey there,I need your help and advice guys. I've had my Nitro for awhile and everything is great, except for one thing - touchpad. Most of the time, touchpad works fine but sometimes it happens that touchpad acts strange - out of sudden, it starts with selecting and marking things as if I wanted to drag it and copy/past it somewhere. I can't find a way how to reverse it, neither do I know how do I turn it on. I suppose it's some kind of gesture?!? Touchpad gets sort of stuck and keeps selecting and dragging/copying anything on open website or programme..... Whatever it is I'm running at the moment. Turning off touchpad etc doesn't help. I always have to restart laptop to get it back to normal. Here's screenshot for to give you better idea

About the best answer I have found is from another site."First step is to get rid of any and all Acer bloatware. Second step is to upgrade every device driver to the latest and greatest. Not just the touchpad, but also GPU, network and other drivers. Then you should be good to go. I have a V15 Nitro Black Edition (i7-4720HQ/GTX860m/16GB) and it works like a charm after getting rid of all the bloat and updating the drivers. Nothing wrong with Acer hardware (pretty standard stuff, so basically identical to other manufacturers)"

On my HP laptop, updating its Synaptics touchpad driver fixed that exact problem. Elantech may have a similar update. Check laptop mfg's site first, Elantech's site second.

(Note: it is possible that there is a driver update which addresses the issue but makes no mention of the fix in the description. Be sure to create a Restore Point before applying [any] update!)

A:ASPIRE VN7-791G FPS problem

Hi, The only suggestion is to check if your notebook runs into thermal issues, like thermal throttling. If yes, changing of the thermal paste could help to improve performance. A more simple solution? Reduce the graphic settings from the game settings Also, why you want 250 FPS? Since you have a build in display at max 60 Hz (aka 60 FPS). No matter if your graphics card is able to pump out 200 or 1000 FPS you will not see any improvement, contrarly you will have issues with screen tearing, thus you will need to enable Vsync.  Unless you use a 300 FPS monitor (i know just about 144 Hz) it is completely useless, visually speaking.

Is it possible to configure a synaptics touch pad settings such as sensitivity, tapping, and type lock settings without the synaptics software?

When I upgraded my laptop to Vista, my touch pad became erratic randomly clicking both left and right buttons as well as being unresponsive and/or jumping to random locations. I discovered that the issue was caused by the synaptics software. When I uninstalled the software part of the driver, the touchpad worked fine, but I can't configure it. I've tried updating to the latest software/driver from the synaptics website as well as Compaq's recommended drivers for my laptop off their website and neither worked. I've also tried on several occasions to deal with Compaq chat tech support but was unable to come up with a solution.

If anyone knows if it can be configured in the registry, or if there is a config file that can be edited, or 3rd party software, please let me know if you have any ideas!

I have a HP Entertainment PC laptop. It's Windows 7 (upgraded from Windows Vista). When I tap on the touchpad, it won't work as a click. It's so annoying that I have to use the button below the touchpad to click. Help me, please.

Thank you~

A:How can I make “tapping the mousepad (touchpad) to work as a click”?

Did you install the touchpad drivers from HP? If so, you may have to play around with some settings for it in control panel. If yo did the upgrade isntall its supposed to keep all your drivers, but sometimes it doesn't retain all of them.

Hi, I am having a problem with my touchpad and Windows 10.  It started yesterday after my computer was frozen after startup and I couldn't access the login screen, so I reset my PC and kept my files.  After resetting and getting back to the desktop I found that If I either tap on the touchpad or do a quick swipe on the touchpad, Windows Action Center will pull up every time and I have to tap or swipe again for it to go away.  I never had the problem before resetting my PC and after speaking with Microsoft they claim it is a malfunction of the touchpad.  I've been searching online and see suggestions to disable 4 finger gestures to resolve the issue, however my laptop does not have 4 finger gestures.  I have reinstalled the driver for the touchpad and still have the issue.  I'm at a loss.Anyone familiar with this issue?  It has become increasingly frustrating and I'm hoping there's a solution.  Thanks!

Every time I shutdown and restart I have to go into Options and turn off Tapping.
I must goto Settings -- Devices -- Mouse and TouchPad -- then:
Click on "Additional Mouse Options" at the bottom (grayed but still active)
Click on "TouchPad settings"
Click on "TouchPad settings" (the button) and turn off "Tapping"
Then click on "Apply"

I also clicked on the [reset device] button. (Did not seem to do anything, did not help)

A:it seems like down arrow key is pressed and hold automatically and tapping on touchpad do not work

I have the same problem. I press the UP ARROW key once the laptop completes booting. This solved the down key lock problem. I started hearing the beep sounds when I upgraded to windows 10. When I went back to windows 7 the beeping stopped during boot up but the down key problem exists. I am thinking of downgrading to XP to see if the noise problem and the keyboard works. I hope its not due to my ram upgrade.
