Virtual COM port error: COM port needed for CDMA phone

Q: Virtual COM port error: COM port needed for CDMA phone

CDMA software requires a COM port to communicate with a cell phone. I'm using HW Virtual Serial Port v3.1.2 (single port, standalone install).

I have a separate modem and router. My Win8.1 PC is hardwired to the modem. Windows firewall is off. Windows Defender is off. Motorola Mobile Drivers Installation 5.9.0 is installed (directly from Moto's website for my phone although Win8 is not listed just Win7. I did not install in Win7 compatibility mode.). My Motorola Droid Razr HD is running stock 4.1.1 ROM. It is booted into BP Tools. WiFi is off. USB Debugging is on. It's connected as MTP (media device). Stay awake is on. Modem, PC, & phone have been rebooted. There are no errors in Device Manager for the Motorola USB Networking Driver.

In IP config, the IPv4 address for the Motorola USB Networking Driver is 192.168.137.1. In HW Virtual Serial Port under Settings tab, I unchecked NVT Enabled. On the Virtual Serial Port tab, I selected Port Name=COM10, IP Address=192.168.137.2, and Port=11008. When I select Create COM, COM10 is created and I can see it in Device Manager but I get a LAN status error (in HW Virtual Serial Port app). So something is not right. In Network & Sharing Center, I see it's an unidentified public network with no internet access (IPv4).

I'm at a loss on how to fix this. Anyone know what I'm missing? Thank you in advance for the help.

I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

My computer says under Ports in Device manager that I have a Virtual IR COM port and also a Virtual IR LPT port. My Nokia 6620 also has an infrared port. Does this mean I can download data from PC to phone using IR? If so, where exactly should I point my cell IR port? I'm not sure where to find the Virtual IR COM port on the computer.

Hello all. I was talking on skype and lost internet connectivity while talking. I received the error above (Firewall Settings HTTP (port 80) HTTPS port 443 FTP port 21 error message). I am running a laptop with windows XP and IE 7 and my antivirus is AVG and I also have Ad-Aware.

I'm not much of a computer person but I did some research online and tried a few things: I turned off the option on skype's advanced settings for it to listen on Port 80 and then rebooted. I also ran a command, 'netstat -aon' and did not find a listing of 1270.0.1:80/443 or 0.0.0.0.80/443 which seems to imply that nothing should be affecting port 80 or 443.

I also downloaded firefox and it cannot access the internet either. The only way I'm able to access the internet at the hotel I'm located at was to call the hotel's tech support and they had me go into the LAN settings of internet options and manually select port 8080.

Any more suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks,

Mike

It actually is " ipconfig /all " i.e replace" j"with "i".Please go to command prompt under Start--> Programs-->accessories. No need for "safe mode" to carry out this task. Can you kindly provide details of your computer specifications? Are you using a third party firewall and if so which brand? What security software are you running?

Currently i have no firewalls running, not even the windows firewall. I also have no anti-virus running. I've checked the port forwarding settings on my routers admin page and they appear correct. Does anyone have any ideas how i could unblock this port? Thanks. I am running windows xp home.

Hi All,

Getting a strange error with Hyper-V on Windows 8 Pro x64.

When I try and add a virtual switch I get:

Error Applying Virtual Switch Properties Changes
Failed while adding virtual Ethernet switch connections.
Ethernet port '{a bunch of stuff}' bind failed: The data is invalid.
(0x8007000D).

There doesn't seem to be much on google that relates to this (in particular the bind failed: the data is invalid part).

Anyone have a clue what the cause might be?

Cheers

can be many thing, in 3 or 4 years that I'm using Hyper-V I never encounter it, you need some networking knowledge to play with virtual switch, but usually 0x8007000D error are due to files corruption or permissions, try to run hyper-v management as admin.

Well, this has me baffled. My Bell Internet Security Services Activation (I just installed it on a computer not used for some 4 or 5 months) popped up a window saying "Waiting for Internet connection"...and waiting and waiting. But my Netgear wireless connection to the router in the house indicates "very good" signal strength, which I thought meant I was connected. Obviously not!

I tried opening IE. "Internet Explorer cannot display the web page" (much as I expected)

Clicked the button which was showing on the IE cannot connect page "Diagnose connection problems" and followed the instructions. The final diagnostic is "Windows cannot connect to the internet using HTTP, HTTPS or FTP. This is probably caused by firewall settings on this computer. Check the firewall settings for the ports HTTP...etc." Where on this earth are they?!

I checked the Windows Firewall settings and found it "off (not recommended)" so I switched it on.

I re-ran the diagnostic on the IE page and nothing has changed.

My question is:

How do I check the settings for HTTP port (80) and HTTPS port (443) and FTP port (21)? Also what do I set them to?

Many thanks, in advance, for a solution to my problem!

A:Solved: Help! Settings for HTTP port (80), HTTPS port (443), FTP port (21)

So you just installed an Internet Security Suite which has a Firewall built-in and then you enabled XP' built-in firewall? I am baffled as to why you would do that. The new software you installed has to be blocking it somehow. I would search their website for known issues.
http://www.securityservices.sympatico.ca/ssp.do?lang=en

Or just uninstall it and use something different.

Hi,

I saw this problem listed, but My issue is a bit different and the previous solution didn't work for me.

Please forgive me if any of my posts offend, as I am new to this site. I don't intend to be rude, but my ignorace may anger some. Also forgive the length of the post, I wish to be thorough as to avoid getting possible solutions that I have already tried or are not relavent.

I recently had some repairs done on my computer which involved reformatting my hard drive and when I got it back started having trouble accessing some internet sites. Unlike the previous person's post with this issue i can still access the internet and 95% of sites, but a select (and seemingly random) few give the IE cannot access website error. When I run the networking Diagnostics for Windows XP get the following error:

Check the Firewall settings for the HTTP Port (80), HTTPS port (443), and FTP port (21)

The only firewalls I know of on my computer are Windows and my router (both of which I have disabled) i have also tried Firefox and it craps out at the same exact sites.

In addition to selected sites, some third party programs are having trouble accessing the internet. This includes Nortons Installer (I haven't been able to install my antivirus yet because of this error) and I haven't been abble to register Microsoft office after I installed because it cannot access the internet for ID Key Verification.

One meter assigned to record current in PC and the other one record voltage in PC. Operating system: Windows 7, 64 bit. And similarly, when voltage measuring multimeter alone is connected to PC via micro USB-USB cable, it records voltage as expected. But if the two multimeters are connected to a PC in two different USB ports, and if the program is opened to record both current and voltage data, it shows an error says ?Port error, Port already open?. The point is both meters are connected in separate USB ports. Now to record the results I am using two computers one for each.

Hi all

I have a Dell Inspiron 1420 which does not have a serial port. O/S = Windows 7 running on 32bit configuration. As my work requires the use of a serial port, I purchased this item, ATEN USB to serial port hardware convertor. This works great except this ..

Each time I plug in this ATEN device onto my USB port, the O/S recognise it and load in the appropriate driver. However the serial port it assign to keep on changing. eg yesterday it assign to com port 5, today it assign to com port 6, etc.. The com port number keeps on changing !! and my program that uses the serial port required a static com port number.

Question.

How do I assign a fixed com port number to this device or can I reset the assignment com port value . If YES, how and any programs available to perform this tasks.

Many thanks and appreciate feedback from you ..

A:Reset Virtual com port assignment

Hi! Kooldog, welcome to W7F

It would help if you could supply the model number of your ATEN.

The ones I've seen either have a manual button on the side or its done with the software already supplied with the unit. Look for "Randomize port" Uncheck it.

There should be more information on the Disk, see read.me file

And it would help if you could finish filling out your system specs.

I recently installed a virtual serial port emulator, VSPE by Eterlogic that I use in conjunction with a software controlled amateur radio. Using this emulator allows me to run an external desktop meter to monitor signal levels from the radio. It works very well. However, everytime I reboot the computer I have to reconfigure the emulator. The emulator is in my start-up folder so it does come on at boot-up but it still needs to be configured. The manufacturer has instructions to automatically load this software already configured by using the "command line", but I can't figure out how to do this and need the procedure to do this. I'm using XP Pro. Here are the manufacturers instructions.

Thank You
Command line
To make users life easier VSPE supports command line parameters.
For example it can be used to automatically load configuration at Windows startup. Warning: only one VSPE instance can exist at the same time !
Usage:
VSPEmulator.exe <config file path> <options>
Config file is a special file with extension ".vspe" that can be created using VSPE "Save as..." command.
Options are additional parameters that can be passed to VSPE to manage its basic behavior.
-minimize : minimize VSPE dialog
-hide_splash : do not show splash window
Example:

Execute VSPE and automatically load configuration file
VSPEmulator.exe c:/config_files/main.vspe

Hi all,

My question concerns Virtual PC 2007 and a DOS application that utilizes a serial BIC card.

A little background is in order. I use VPC for testing. One of the programs that I test is a legacy DOS program (completely DOS no windows - REALLY old school!) this program uses a serial BIC card to access several serial ports (about 8 in total).

My question:

How can I emulate these serial ports INSIDE Virtual PC without actually having these ports available? Sort of "tricking" the system.

Any thoughts would be appreciated. I also do some light programming (C#, VB 2005, ASP.Net...) so if you think you may know OF an answer requiring some programming, that's ok too just throw in a link or two and I will check them out.

Thanks a ton,

Give the normal user temporary admin permissions. Doing that it works? them most likely there is a permissions problem somewhere

If it doesn't work maybe there is something installed/configured only on the Admin account, try to reinstall the software on the user account and them remove the admin permissions.

I tried the usual "fixes", such as uninstalling/reinstalling the USB controllers/device drivers.
In desperation, I tried a repair install of W10 Pro.

The printer in question is a brand new Ricoh SP-C250DN, which operated perfectly when I first plugged it in and selected USB for the initial installation of the drivers. However, after I tested the wireless functionality thru my router, I couldn't use the printer on USB anymore.
I was seeing "Copy 1" of the printer when I tried to get it installed for USB again. In an attempt to rid the pc of all things Ricoh so that I could reinstall and hopefully get it working on USB again, I removed both original and "Copy 1" of the Ricoh printer. That didn't get 'er done, so I deleted Ricoh reg entries -- the only Ricoh product that has ever been on this pc is this printer, so I felt safe in deleting these (I did not delete entries which contained non-Ricoh data).
I've done plenty of work in Windows registries over the decades, with few adverse incidents, but this time I obviously slipped up. I discovered the USB Printer Support is AWOL in Device Manager (yes, I set View to Show hidden devices) and USB001 Virtual Port is AWOL from the Add Printer port list.

Ok, so the reg is/was apparently FUBAR where USB is concerned, which is why I tried the repair install.

I need a little help. I am trying to share the HP 8150 Photo Printer over my home network. I have a laptop that has the printer installed on it and am wanting to access it via my desktop. Currently, I can do this vice versa with another HP printer. One that is connected to my desktop being shared to my laptop. Below are the steps i have already attempted.

1- Turned on print sharing on both computers ( Note Desktop is SP1, laptop is SP2)
2- Installed drivers on both machines
3- Selected browse for network printer
* Active printer port for 8150 is not in list*

This is what i see as being the problem...

1- HP Installed printer on Virtual printer port USB001
2- My desktop sees this printer on different port, but not able to connect to it. Receive
Windows error about incorrect name, or loss of connection.
3- May not have firewall set up correctly from Desktop to laptop.

* note file sharing is enabled and works just fine, both ways.

Any help is appreciated, thanks.

A:Solved: Virtual Printer port not sharing over home network

This has been solved. After reading through a few of the diff. forums, i found out that if you re-run the network wizard set up on both machines after installing a new printer, your problem will be solved.

Thanks,

Here is my situation,
I own a Lattitude E7450, and needed to connected two displays to it. I went ahead and bought the Dell E-Port Plus Advanced Port Replicator with USB 3.0, since it has 2 DVI ports on the back. It shows it is compatible with my laptop.
I set up my dock, connected my laptop, as well as both external monitors. Only one monitor shows a duplicated desktop. When I go into the display settings, I cannot see any existence of another external display being connected.
All of my drivers are up to date, restarted laptop many times. Pretty bummed out.
Anyone have any solution/knowledge to this?

1. I would like to change my COM 1 TO COM 3.
Can this be done in the CMOS? or is there a simplier yet effective way that it can be done?

I need your help as soon as possible.

A:How Do I change Com.port 1 to Com.port 3? My modem is silent. Dual booting problem

What do you mean by changing COM1 to COM3? Do you want to move a device? Reassign IRQs? Physically pick one up off the motherboard and move it?

Your modem sound is usually configured in two places. One is in the Control Panel, and the other is in the Dial-up Networking settings. Adjust the volume there.

Are you running Windows 2000 and Windows 98 on separate paritions (drive letters)? If so, you'll need to use special software to convert the FAT32 file system to NTFS. I believe Parition Magic will allow this without data loss. However, I would never make such a large system change without first backing up data. There is always the chance that everything could get wiped out.

I Don't know what your talking about directly but I'm willing to try. Can you explain a little better what the isp person is asking you? From the screenshot I know the bottom section is your local connection and the top part is your WAN connection. If that helps any.

I recently started using the E-Port Plus Advanced Port Replicator with my Latitude E7450, but the headphones are not working. Sound comes from the laptop itself, even when the headphones are plugged into the dock or laptop. The headphones work with other devices, and the laptop works with the headphones when it is not docked.

Has anyone had any issues with the Precision 7510 only outputting through one DisplayPort output on the E-Port Plus Advanced Port Replicator? Our organization recently started to introduce Precision 7510 units to our employees, and we're finding that they will only output to one single monitor connected via DisplayPort through the E-Port Plus Advanced Port Replicators - even though there are two monitors connected into the two DisplayPort outputs on the E-Port Plus APR. If the monitors are connected via DVI, the Precision 7510 is able to output to both of them through the E-Port Plus APR. We have tried Precision M4800, Latitude E7450, and Latitude E7470 units in these E-Port Plus APR's with two monitors connected into the two DisplayPort outputs - and they all work correctly. The Precision 7510 units have the NVIDIA Quadro M1000M video cards, and the E-Port Plus APR's are connected to either a pair of P2417 monitors or a pair of U2414 monitors.
