Hotel Giant 2 Display Issues

Q: Hotel Giant 2 Display Issues

I recently purchased Hotel Giant 2 and attempted to play the game today. There were two error messages: "sys3d select display mode error" and "sys3de init driver error". I updated my video driver using the Lenovo website; this made no difference.

I also noticed today that when I attempted to open the ATI CATALYST(R) Control Center, there was an error message. The message was: "Could not load file or assembly 'CLI.Implementation' or one of its dependencies. The system cannot find the file specified.".

Are these two issues related? Another (possibly) related problem I'm having is that my multiple monitor capability has disappeared. My [right click>properties>setting>advanced>monitor] leads to this screen:

Previously, I was able to toggle between different displays, etc.

Any ideas? Thanks in advance!

I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

Hi there

I'm a sucker for these strategy sim games, so I bought Hotel Giant, (Sold Out Range). I have installed it successfully but it won't run.

It looks like it's about to start, and then just jumps back to the desktop and nothing else happens. It does not crash and I don't get any error messages.

I have written to the support team but they never bothered to answer, so I'm stumped.

You guys are always so cool at helping me out, so was hoping you could help me get the game to run instead of it just jumping back to the desktop.

Thanks again

Okay, I unticked the compatibility option altogether, and the game started, it got to starting the tutorial then froze and jumped back to the desktop. So i'm back to square one. Still no error messages.

I just put in a Laser S315E-32p (by Kaser) graphics accelerator in my computer which runs win 98, and which has been to this point entirely satisfactory. It replaces a Jaton 9685PCI video card. The graphics accelerator seems to be doing its job except now everything on the monitor is double-sized, or is increased by some other multiplier. How do I get it back to normal size?

Thanks for your thoughts.

A:Giant Size Display on Monitor Due to Graphics Accelerator

Right click on your desktop and choose properties, then settings. You should see a slider that lets you increase your resolution. Move it up a notch. click OK or apply and exit. (This is the set up on WinXP so what you see might look a little different) If this doesn't work there is always the possibility that your card is not installed right and you are just using "generic" windows vga.

Hey all.

So my Wi-Fi is all messed up right now. It was working fine like last week. I don't know how to quite explain it. But here's a timeline describing the Wi-Fi issues.

When computer first boots-up and goes to desktop: Wi-Fi is fine.

A few minutes later: Connectivity turns to Local Only and Internet. [Internet browsing rarely happens.]

Shortly After: Connectivity turns to Local Only. [No internet browsing whatsoever.]

Shortly After: Limited Connectivity. [Have no idea what to do.]

I've looked around on the internet with my other laptop [which is connected to the DSL directly.] and I went to "Device Manager," and found that my Broadcom 802.11 a/b/... [you can figure it out] driver wasn't in the "Network Adapters" section. So I went to the HP website to download the driver [Downloaded it on other laptop and put it on flash drive.] Installed it to the broken laptop. Reboot. Not working. I found more online support. One website suggested I disable and enable the driver. That worked.. For a while.

Now, when wi-fi stopped working, I did the disable and enable thing again. BUT. This time when I went to try to enable it again. The driver was missing. So I installed it again, rebooted, now it's gone. What do I do?!

Computer Specs: HP Pavilion tx2120us. 2.26 GHz. 4GB RAM. 250 GB Hard Drive 5400 RPM. Windows Vista Home Premium [64-Bit.]

I recently hooked up a secondary monitor to my ati 9800 XT, and its crap!

It's a Goldstar Stuidoworks 76i monitor. I have a dvi-vga adaptor and a regular vga-m/m cable. the problem isnt with the dvi cause if i plug my good monitor into the dvi adaptor, it works well and the 76i is still blurry.

the problem is if i change the resolution to anything greater than 800x600, the picture gets very fuzzy, and unusable. i've tried lots of different freq. combinations, and tried changing the colour as well. i looked all over for drivers for the monitor but i didnt find any for XP, i found something that was basically colour profiles, i loaded them, but they didnt change anything.

am i forgetting something? or is the monitor just CRAPOLA?

thank you so much for your help!!

A:Fuzzy Secondary Display? 9800XT dual display issues.

Well since you checked to DVI adapter with another monitor I say your monitor is going bad. How old is it? There might be a label with the year on it the back. I have seen this happen to monitors only old 3 years old but usually it monitors older than that.

Other signs indicating its near death is a high pitch whine at higher resolutions or max brightness and contrast.

There are three major issues I have with my laptop, and I was wondering if anyone else had them too.. I have not contacted dell support yet, but I will in the following weeks if I don't somehow figure out what's is going on myself.
I've had my laptop for a little bit under 2 months, so these are the things I have noticed.
Issue number 1: When you plug in the power cord into the computer, the screen freezes on what it is currently on. I noticed this issue because occasionally when I plug in my power cord, and try to use the mousepad to select something, the mouse pointer is gone! I have to unplug-replug the power cable to get the mouse pointer to show again. I have no idea what the cause of this issue is. It seems to have to do with the screen
Issue number 2: when I carry my E7440 around in my bad, or have it shut for long periods of time >3 hours (I just simply close the lid), the computer will SHUT DOWN. The thing will shut down completly, even though I simply closed the lid! At first I thought it was just going into hibernate, so I disabled hibernate in my power settings. But nope, even when the computer is asleep, it will occasionally shut it self down for no reason at all.
Just now, I closed the lid on my laptop, and put in in my bag, then walked to my office about 10 minutes away. When I sat down at my desk and opened my laptop, to my surprise, it had shut down by itself! All of my open windows, browsers, and applications were closed, and upon ... Read more

A:E7440 - sleep Issues and display issues

Update by original poster! This does not work!
1. Press F2 when booting and go to setup.
2. Go to Power options and disable the "block sleep" feature .
3. Save and reboot.
4. The system seems to now go into hibernate when closing the lid.
5. In fact in Windows, you can't see the sleep option anymore.
This takes longer to wake up the laptop but at least all work is intact.

A:Hotel wifi

Mickotabs Hello;Allow me to welcome you to the HP forums!I read your post about problems connecting using the hotel WiFi and wanted to help.I used to travel for my job and ran into this stuff all the time.  When hotels had wired Internet, it was not a problem, but now that virtually everyone has switched to wireless, it IS a problem. What I found worked was using Internet Explorer (yeah, I know, everyone's favorite malware catcher!), and when it opened, it invariably went to the hotel's website, where you had to click on some Accept button -- before you could surf the net. Once you did that, you could close IE, open the Browser you want to use, and access the net without issues. If that doesn't work, since this is a new PC, then instead of struggling for hours to fix it yourself, why not just let HP fix it -- for free!!  You should contact HP Customer Support directly to have them put you in touch with HP Technical Support to see what they can do about diagnosing and repairing your machine remotely.I did this recently and the HP Tech was able to remotely access my PC from the Internet and do the needed repairs. If you live in the US or Canada, contact information is on this page: http://www8.hp.com/us/en/contact-hp/phone-assist.html#section1If you live elsewhere, contact information is on this page: http://www8.hp.com/us/en/contact-hp/ww-contact-us.htmlNOTE: After you get through, stay on the line until you are finally able to talk to some one -- ... I know that this may sound stupid but, when I use my laptop which has a D-link wireless card (which I use at home daily) in a hotel does it just link to the hotels router automaticly or do I have to do something to make that happen. I'm going to Cozumel and I need to take my laptop which as I stated has a wireless card. What do I need to do to get on the internet once I get there. I've only used wireless internet at home an. I'm a novice and any help would be appreciated

A:How Do I Get Internet In A Hotel

Hi Dyrbooker. There is nothing you should need to do.Your wireless card will detect the connection automaticly.I travel extensively across the US. Hotels, Airports, etc, are nothing more then hotspots.I would assume it works the same way in Cozumel.I strongly suggest you do not transmit sensitive data or make financial transactions in a hotspot without taking security precautions first. I use a VPN for that stuff and also encrypt any files I upload to somewhere else.If you already have hotel reservations, contact them with any questions you have reguarding wireless connections.

I have an ACER 9300 running Vista Home. It connects to a wireless network at home, and I am planning to go on a trip and most hotels advertise "high speed internet".

Question is:

" What hardware will I need to be able to connect? Ethernet cable? Telephone cable?"

"What setups do I need on the computer?"

Obviously I have never tried this so I have no idea.

A:Hotel Internet

Hi Gene45. . .

If the hotel has a wireless setup, which most do, you do not need anything other than your system and the hotel's password.

Simply boot-up your laptop, click on Start, then click on Connect To. A list of available wireless signals will appear. Double-click on the hotel's network and if asked to enter the password/phrase - enter it.

Should you experience difficulty in either not being able to connect or the loss of connectivity (limited connectivity - INTRAnet buit no INTERnet), bring your laptop to the lobby where the signal would be stronger.

In 2007, I drove from New Jersey to California and never had a problem connecting in any hotel - except where the signal was weak and did not reach the particular room that I was staying in.

To test this, go to a McDonalds or Dunkin Donuts where wifi is free - and try to connect - or go to a friends/family members house and try.

Lastly, contact the hotel to assure that a wireless signal is available vs. modem.

Good Luck on your trip.

Regards. . .

I own and operate a small startup computer/network support business. I am seriously considering targetting the hotels in my area to sell them wifi systems.

Plan 1. If they only want to get their hotel lobby or one certain area online it would be easy. I plan to market the Buffalo Technology WBR2G54 router with an indoor antenna. That will cover a large open area and any rooms adjacent to this area. It also has WPA security so the hotel (or I) can change the WPA key periodically and only give it to the registed guests to prevent/limit stealing of bandwidth.

This system is rather inexpensive (about 800 installed with 3 PC wireless adapters) plus the monthly cost of the internet connection obviously.

For hotels that want ALL their rooms wired this system will not be adequate. Although it is possible with Buffalo techs' APs and repeaters, there is not a centralized administration solution for these devices.

the route lots of folks seem to be going is the Cisco Aironet 350 series APs and stuff. But these mothers' run about 450 per unit. A 200 room hotel could easily run about 10,000 to install access to every room. But these devices provide centralized Admin. and all the bells and whistles I could need.

Wow, all that typing and here is my question. Do any of you have experience or knowledge of other make/models of devices that would do this job... Read more

Hi carol, you would need to reduce the image size in a graphics program, like Adobe Photoshop, Photoshop Elements or Paint Shop Pro. Adobe Photoshop is rather expensive, but Photoshop Elements and Paint Shop Pro are arouns $100. There are free image editors out there, I just don't know the names of them, try going to http://www.download.com and look under the graphics section and there should be some editors there you could either download for free or atleast get a free trial to see if you like them. Recently my computer has started displaying giant pixels anytime I want to start up a computer game like The Sims or Trickster. For a while I thought it was just 3-d games that were not working but then I tried playing a 2-d pixel game, and I had the same problom, here is a screen cap of what I am talking about.

The computer that I am running is a eMachines T3256.
It has a nvidia GeForce 4 MX graphics card.
Is there anyways that I could fix this with buying a nother card, or downloading something, or will I have to take my computer in to someone to fix it?

A:Giant pixels, I need help

Re The Sims (original?) - your card should be able to play that

Re Trickster - your card doesn't support DX8 for 1.1 pixel shaders so probably cannot play that

Re the pixel problem - uninstall your present nVidia dtrivers in Add/Remove programs, reboot, and install the latest drivers.

edit: if the l;atest drivers don't fix it, uninstall them and try one of the 53.xx series - they apparently could, with hardware assisted software emulation, support vertex shader model 1.1.

A:Wirelessly networking a hotel, Need some help

I'm guessing you'll want at least two access points (routers will do), one for each floor. Put the router in a central location on each floor, same SSID but different channels. You'll probably want to pick up a couple of the 7dB omni-directional antennas to help with the signal strength as well. Wire one router directly to the broadband service, and the secondary router as follows.

Connecting two SOHO broadband routers together.

Configure the IP address of the secondary router to be in the same subnet as the primary router, but out of the range of the DHCP server in the primary router. For instance DHCP server addresses through, I'd assign the secondary router as it's IP address.

Disable the DHCP server in the secondary router.

Setup the wireless section just the way you would if it was the primary router.

Connect from the primary router's LAN port to one of the LAN ports on the secondary router. If there is no uplink port and neither of the routers have auto-sensing ports, use a cross-over cable. Leave the WAN port unconnected!

some ISP will only allow you to send email when logged in through there service - it may be simply that.

i have seen this a number of times - where you can receive but not send mails.

have you talked to the ISP about how there email operates

perhaps some comcast users will answer...

Hello all, I have a job where I need to access the internet over a secure connection. I use too much bandwidth for mobile broadband to be a viable option (about 30 gigs a month travelling).

Is there anyway to access the internet through a public wifi hotspot, routed through my home internet? The information I am handling is anything but sensitive (I mean, not even close at all. Let's just say I fill in rudimentary measurement data for flooring with no names or companies ever included, at all.). But my employer is a bit OCC and requires us to have a secure connection.

In other words, I'm not so much worried about a secure connection as I am appeasing my boss with a secure connection so I can do more work while on the road.

Most likley this is a driver problem. Your Asus S6f notebook was made for Windows XP so finding the correct drivers for Windows 7 may be a problem. I looked around but didn't see any, still looking. I can't find any listed at the Asus site for this model.

I am a IT engineer that has a basic to intermediate understanding of wifi.

I also have with some friends an investment in a small hotel.

I am interested in setting up internet for our hotel. I have attached a diagram of the hotel showing distances between points.

The building is of brick construction. I have attached a sample picture of the property.

We are looking into some access points, repeaters, etc.

Some of the ones we are considering include:

1. Linksys WAP200E (http://www.linksys.com/servlet/Satel...=8368193126B11)

2. Netgear WAG102 (http://www.netgear.com/Products/APsW...ts/WAG102.aspx)

with this extension cable.. 5m or 10m (http://www.netgear.com/Products/APsW...na_Cables.aspx)

Can anyone suggestion any recommendations?

Also, there are many many different types of antennas.... directional antennas, reflector grid antennas, panel antennas, yagi antennas, panel antennas, omnidirectional antennas, sectorial antennas, and other wireless Wi-Fi antennas. Can someone suggest the best and most cost effective idea for my application.
After reviewing the diagram and picture attached.. can anyone make suggestions?

Thanks in advance?

A:Hotel Wireless Project...

To do something similar, I used 3 D-Link DGL-4500 wireless routers connected to a switch. I mounted the routers in the center of the ceiling (upside down) and put this on each antenna (http://www.freeantennas.com/projects/template/). I painted them white (the same color as the ceiling).

Cheap, but it works.

I wish to set up a Wifi network in a hotel which has 33 rooms and many solid brick walls.

The system must be capable of maintaining a secure reliable wifi without any dropouts whatosever and capable of dealing with 33 users at any one time who will be largely using skype with some video streaming..

At present the hotel uses one one router ( BtHub3) and two extenders ( Netgear WN300RP and a cabled to router TP - Link extender ).

If 12 or more users are using the system at any one time dropouts will occur quite often and internet operation becomes slow.
Any advice would be most welcome.

Hey, I'm currently in a hotel and I just changed rooms to a room around 20m away.

We have pretty good WiFi in the room but when we moved my laptop will still connect to that WiFi in that room and not in the room I'm in now.

Although my iPhone, Surface, Parents phones, iPad connects to this new internet, I'm stuck with 2 bars that cuts out every minute.

Please help!!

There's probably not much you can do depending on how the hotel wireless network is set up. Your situation is exactly why I harp on using independent APs in setting up a "unified" wireless network. If the hotel is using a properly designed wireless network based on a central wireless controller, the controller would be able to steer your devices to nearest less busy AP for best performance. Unfortunately, many times, businesses skimp on things like this especially if they are providing wireless service as a free service.

I was at a hotel in Brussels this week where I could receive email through Outlook but not send it. The error message I got was

Task '[email protected] - Sending' reported error (0x800CCC80) : 'None of the authentication methods supported by this client are supported by your server.'

What causes this and is there a way to overcome it?

A:Outlook problems in a hotel

Three options:
Use a web-based email interface
Temporarily change your outgoing (SMTP) server to the one provided by the hotel's ISP
Switch your email over to an ISP that uses a secure interface and allows for validation of the SMTP server so that you can explicitly validate. This is what I do. My ISP at home (Verizon DSL) only provides internet access and is not my eMail provider.

The issue is that the ISP the hotel is using does not recognize your ISP as a trusted entity. ISPs do this because if they did not anyone could (and would) use them to send out vast amounts of SPAM.

My dad is taking his old brick windows 2000 laptop on a business trip. Note that it is not for his work, just to check his email and do finances. He has 2000 as I just said, and a old network card that looks like it is missing an antenna.
I have messed with it, but I can't even get it to connect to our home wifi. Is 2000 even compatible with current technology? Or am I being stupid and he just needs a new card? Or does he need a decent laptop?

Hi I have a question about using my notebook to connect to wireless internet in hotel rooms. What exactly do I need to connect? I have a trip planned, and some hotels advertise free Wi-Fi or wireless internet.

I have a Toshiba Tecra 8100 (kinda old, ~2000-2001) with Win 98SE. It has a IrDA infrared port. Is this enough, or do I need to buy a wireless PC card? Would the NETGEARŪ Wireless-G PC card work? I have 2 Type I/II PC Card slots, but no USB slot and I'm looking for an inexpensive solution.

I assume the hotel gives me a password and I set up some kind of network connection on my computer?

I'm sorry for such a basic question, but I really have no clue when it comes to networking/wireless kinds of things (I'm still using dial-up!). I've googled, but I haven't found anything that really answers my question about how to connect in hotel rooms.

Thanks so much!

I'm going to be living at an extended-stay hotel for a while (TownePlace Suites by Marriott, in Ft Lauderdale).

I'm running a business and often work from "home."

They have Ethernet plugs in the rooms at the hotel.

Is it safe to use that without a VPN?

I have a Netgear router, model D6300, I can use in between my computer and the wall plug. Does that matter?

I log into my Habbo.co.uk account- and Click on the Old Habbo link, as the BETA Version isnt as good- It starts to load then a message comes up saying: Your computer must be restarted in order to complete the installation of Shockwave Player. Would you like to restart now? Then there are 2 options saying restart now and restart later. I must have been on my laptop about 80 times since this notice began to show up- How do i fix this Habbo.co.uk problem?

I am unsing Hotel Wifi connections quite often. There I have to log in using the Room Number and a Pin.

When I look in my Android settings, I can see that the connection has no security (no WEP, no WPA, etc.).

For me it looks like my data is transferred without any encryption? Is this really true, or is such a network somehow else encrypted? I can not believe that there is absolutely no security in hotels as every nome user knows that he shall at least use WEP?

just used wifi a lot at libraries, airports, etc. now in hotel and when i click on the bars, am told the signal is low. no green lines at all. right click on the little monitors with red x's and can get one of them going but that does not help. once i did get connected to the hotel wifi but everything took a long time so i gave up. a prompt sometimes comes telling me to check with the wifi provider because windows cannot connect.

just want to be sure that i am doing what little i need to do to make sure it is the hotel's problem and not mine. when i click on a list of available wifi connections, i get all kinds of choices in the area but the hotel choices are way down the list.

can live with this but feel it not worth complaining especially if my computer is the problem. but cannot imagine that when i have been using wifi exclusively the past month. thanks for any help

Not particularly computer-savvy, so bear with me. Trying to connect to Wifi at my hotel, and while I can get on w/ my Mac (personal laptop), I can't get my Dell (work laptop) to connect. It sees the network, but shows Local Only for my IPv4 and Limited Only for my IPv6. Ran a diagnostic with Intel PROSet/Wireless Tools and it fails the Ping Test "Failure getting ping status!" My hunch is that something is preventing the pop-up with the hotel specific access info from popping up, but I've disabled pop-ups and everything else I can think of w/ negres. I'm using Windows Vista Business Service Pack 2. Computer is a Dell E6500 w/ an Intel Core Duo CPU P8600. Any suggestions/assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Download L2MFix from one of these two locations:

Save the file to your desktop and double click l2mfix.exe. Click the Install button to extract the files and follow the prompts. Then open the newly added l2mfix folder on your desktop. Double click l2mfix.bat and select option #1 for Run Find Log by typing 1 and then pressing Enter. This will scan your computer and it may appear nothing is happening. After a minute or 2, notepad will open with a log. Copy the contents of that log and paste it into this thread.

IMPORTANT: Do NOT run option #2 or any other files in the l2mfix folder until you are asked to do so!
