Peak Protection 2010 - MSBLAST?

Q: Peak Protection 2010 - MSBLAST?

I can get a desktop eventually with Task Manager however any action after that causes the NT AUTHORITY shut down to occur making it impossible to work with this infection. I have better control in safe mode and can run programs without the shut down. Malwarebytes runs and removes objects but normal startup still has Peak Protection 2010. Is it possible that the MSBLAST is working with Peak Protection 2010 to prevent removal for a normal start up of Windows XP? Thanks you for your advice.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Infected with Spyware Protection 2010 (or whatever crap is behind it). Can't really run any programs except for Internet Explorer. Tried to enable my firewall (Window's Defender) but can't. Tried to run DDS but can't. Tried to create a GMER log, but. Keep getting warnings in the bottom right of the screen saying I'm infected and suggesting I purchase their tool (yea, right).

Try downloading and using the SUPERAntiSpyware Portable Scanner in Safe Mode. Save the randomly named file (i.e. SAS_1710895.COM) to a usb drive or CD and transfer to the infected computer. Then double-click on it to launch and scan. The file is randomly named to help keep malware from blocking the scanner. How to start Windows in Safe Mode

What is the difference between Forefront Endpoint Protection and Microsoft Security Essentials?

A. Microsoft Security Essentials is a free consumer antimalware product for single client computers. Forefront Endpoint Protection 2010 provides endpoint protection for business environments, including antimalware and additional protections like behavior monitoring and firewall management. Forefront Endpoint Protection 2010 also includes central deployment, configuration, and reporting features needed for ensuring protection is maintained across the enterprise.

Installation is very quick and easy.

Taking up to 35-40 MB RAM when idle.
Quick scan nearly takes 5 mins.

Firewall is easily configurable.

Interface is very simple. I guess its because its a beta version. Mcafee total protection 2009 has a different GUI altogether.

Will check on the detections and heuristics later.

Overall a very nice product. But can slow down old computers.
Nevertheless, if you've got 4 GB RAM, would you mind giving 40-50 MB towards security?

forefront endpoint is a commercial product available to a compnay only
so have you asked your company IT for help
IMPORTANT NOTE REGARDING CORPORATE/COMPANY OWNED COMPUTERS

Please do not request assistance for corporate/company owned computers. Many changes/deletions are made during the clean up process, some of which may involve uninstalling programs, deleting folders/files, changing settings and/or removing policies etc. As we have no way of knowing for sure if these are actually needed for company operations, malware issues in these cases should be handled by your own IT Departments in order to avoid any undesirable results.

Windows XP OS,
I was helping a friend who had continuos Mcaffee pop up errors that would not clear. These occurred on start up and his subscription had expired so we went to Mcaffee and downloaded Total Protection 2010. Now after booting up the following appears:
"ActiveShield is either not installed or is installed correctly. Reinstall". We are able to click the "OK" button and it disappears. The Mcaffee Security Center is all green, protection is on but the message continues to come up on restart.
We uninstalled all other Malware detection programs, still no joy. uninstalled all AOL software (they don't use it) Now the message still appears AND on shutdown A Shutdown Message comes up and says "Mcaffee Firewall Plus Alert is shutting down.........."
then the "program is not responding, and we have to click "End Now". Restart and the other message reappears. I downloaded Mcaffee "Virtual Technician" and it made a couple of "registry corrections" but this didn't help and subsequent checks with it didn't reveal any problems.

Help!!

Hi guys, today we will look at the newest antimalware suite from Panda Security: Panda Global Protection 2010 beta. Its also one of the Windows 7 security providers.

So the installation begins:
After acccepting the license agreement, even before the installer, Panda started a Scan.
Scan finished within a minute.
You will get a Windows Security popup asking if you trust the software.
Also, a restart will be required after installation.
It took around 3-5 mins to install Panda Global Protection 2010 beta 2 and everything went smooth so far.

The update wizard popped up after restarting the system.
Also, an pop up appears to Activate the Product.
After Activation, it provides a 3 months license for the beta.
These are the scanning options. Strange that they did not include a quick scan feature.
During scan, it uses around 35-40 MB RAM. However, they will have to work on the CPU usage. When pulled up task manager, i was surprised to see that there were actually 16 processes running.

PGP 2010 moved all the suspicious files to Quarantine and deleted all infected items. The firewall is also strong.
The detections are impressive.

Under Preferences, it has options to reduce CPU usage and self diagnosis.
It has a lot of settings that makes Panda Global Protection 2010 highly customizable.
It also has Automatic Backup and Optimize Performance option.

Overall a solid protection against viruses and spywares. Really impressive and light weight pro... Read more

XP Home SP3 laptop was infected with PC Antispyware 2010 and Protection System. I found manual removal instructions and removed what I could find from the registry and file system but missed something somewhere. Found braviax running and deleted that and then tried to install anti-spyware software but nothing will run. IE8 loads and crashes. Installed Mozilla but can't get anywhere. Can not get a DHCP address from my router (wireless) but a hardcoded IP works. Can ping external websites but can not open them in a browser. Firewall is not running and will not load. Tried to roll back to before the infection but it says it has been disabled by group policy.

Tried to run DDS but window opens and closes quickly. Watched the processes and DDS.scr loads and find.exe and then DDS stops but find stays running.

Ran RootRepeal and it crashes if I include files in the report option so the report sans files is attached. Thanks in advance!

I was browsing the web and I may have downloaded something bad. First something with the process name 111122223333.exe or something like that crashed and poped up the "it crashed" window. Then all of a sudden this icon that looks like the windows security center icon pops up saying Windows File Protection and says I have something wrong with either my registry, file system, or something else along those lines. Windows Restore has also been disabled. I have tried enabling it and restarting, but it appears to disable it on start up. Have tried booting into safemode but no luck still. I have tried running Malware-Bytes Anti Malware, but it seems to get stuck on checking itself over and over. PC also seems to respond very slow now.
Any help would be appreciated, thinking about formatting it if no help can be found.

We have 1 workstation(Windows 2000 PRO with all patches) that I see on our Firewall sending outbound traffic on port 135. I have searched the registry for any MSBLAST keys and found none. I have run Symantec's MSBLAST removal tool, and it has found none. We run CA Anti-Virus, and it is up to date, and a full system scan also reveals nothing. I even ran AdAware and "quarantined" everything it found, rebooted, but yet the problem exists.

My Firewall logs point to it being MSBLAST as the address it tries to connect to is a variant of our internal IP scheme. Any ideas?

Thanks!

Any ideas?

Thanks!

I believe that I may have the msblast.exe worm.

I downloaded a fix from Symantec to load onto my computer, but now I cannot get it to even boot up successfully. After inputting the login password, it immediately (1-2 seconds) acts as if I've hit "shut down", saves my settings and shuts the computer off. This is even if I try to do so in safe mode.

Suggestions please!

Thanks,

Derrik

A:Need help with MSblast.exe

Hello derrick and welcome,

Open notepad and copy/paste the text in the quotebox below into it:

Quote:

@shutdown -a

Save this as fix.bat Choose to "Save type as - All Files"
It should look like this:

Each time your machine threatens to shutdown, double click on fix.bat & it shall abort the shutdown procedure.

If you still have issues after running Symantec's tool, kindly follow the instructions in our sticky topic New Instructions - Read This Before Posting for Malware Removal Help and post the requested logs in your next reply.

Q: Msblast

Hello All,

My friend has this computer with Windows 2000. All of sudden it started running extremely slow (I mean like an hour just to start up) .
We put the MSCONFIG.EXE file from XP on it so we could see the startup list and found a file called MSBLAST.EXE was listed in the startup.

Is this MSBLAST.EXE the virus that everyone is talking about? If so how can we get it off? He can't get on the internet. Can he download something on another computer and copy to his computer to aid him. He doesn't have a running antivirus program on his computer.

Thanks and Have a Great Day,
jraquel

When I logged in today, I am certain I got the virus msblast.exe. It only shut me down when I was trying to access the internet. I have Windows XP and have done everything I found on how to get rid of the worm. I downloaded the patch but when I click on the downloaded patch I get an error "Setup could not verify the integrity of the file. Make sure the Cryptographic service is running on this computer". I then researched to see how to "enable" cryptographic services and when I checked on my computer, it looks to be on "automatic" but it still will not let me run the patch. Any help would be appreciated -- thanks!

Hello, I'm new to this board, I was just wondering if somone could look at my log file to see if there is anything that may be suspicious, I had the msblast.exe virus but I deleted it, and dug into the registry to delete anything related, I also had problems with my regedit window closing whenever I would open it, but found the duplicate explorer.exe and deleted that as well. Your input is greatly appreciated, here is the log.

Yesterday i kill the worm and now when i connect to Internet it's working physically but when i lauch IE6 or MSN or other Inernet tools then my computer says "You are not connected "
Or it's crong because i see my connection at 640Kb/s in ADSL ???

Please Help ???
it's seems that the link between the physical connexion and the software is broken ?

A:After Msblast HELP HELP can't connect to the NET ??

Make sure that it has been zapped

Download and run this file

Then go to this page and download the patch for your version of Windows ie Windows 2000, XP

Finally, when you have done all that, go to Spyware.com, and download 'Hijack This!'.

Unzip it, launch Hijack This, then press Scan, and press Save Log

This will generate a text file that will list all running processes, all applications that are loaded automatically when you start Windows, and more.

open that file
Go to Edit | Select all
Now click Edit | copy to copy it
Come back to TSG, Right Click and paste its contents here so we can check that it has been removed

First, uninstall HJT from the desktop and install it into a "real" folder, otherwise you will have backups all over your desktop.

Then, run it again and select and delete the following and see if that resolves the problem?

If not, post back a new log.

As well, Click here to download getservice.zip and unzip it to your desktop. Open the Getservice folder and click on the getservices.bat file. A notepad will open up with a long list of Services. Please save that notepad file and attach it to your next reply to this thread. It will be easier to attach it rather than copy and paste because it will be too long to paste in one post.

You also say "It's got completely different registry keys"
What are you seeing?

If you have two operating systems or two computers you must run the tool once in each version of windows. However Blaster worm only affects NT based O/S - like 2000, XP.

if you have 2 harddrives but only one has windows on it, then the virus should be gone. You can rerun the tool to be sure. Do you have a virus scanner installed? You can do a virus scan at www.trend.com to make sure you do not have another virus.

Hi guys,

I've recently bought a new computer, and it's an issue I've had with another Windows 7 desktop that I purchased before. Unfortunately, when I fixed it originally, I don't exactly remember how because it was after hours of frustrating trial and error.
Anyways, the issue is that while all volume levels are set for peak output, the green/grey volume bar is only going up about halfway. I have been told to check all settings, check my speakers and reinstall my audio driver; however, none of them have fixed the problem. I have plugged my speakers directly into my iPod and they work fine, and I've tried different music-playing software, and the same issue persists.

If anybody has any ideas on how to fix this problem, it was be appreciated.
