I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

Hi,I just bought 4GB DDR3 RAM for my Lenovo Ideapad Y560 laptop. Before, I have 2GB+1GB DDR3 RAM, so I think the new one will be okay. After plugging it in, I can't boot my Windows 7 OS. I can't boot installation of Windows 7 OS. I can't boot even memtest86.Can someone help me with that? What can I do with that?Normal launching (1)?Normal launching (2)?Memtest86?Safe Mode/repairing startup?BIOS with 4GB inside?

A:Lenovo Ideapad Y560 upgrading RAM

Hi hyperxd ,
Welcome to the Community Forums.
Based on the product RAM specification :
4GB or 8GB std / 8GB max7 ; PC3-up to 1333MHz DDR3, non-parity, dual-channel capable, two 204-pin SO-DIMM sockets
Recommended RAM upgrade as per hardware manual FRU listing for 4GB (page 85) :
13 DDRIII 1333 4GB, SAM M471B5273CH0-CH9 DDR3 1333 4GB  Part number : 11011934 13 DDRIII 1333 4GB, HMT351S6AFR8C-H9 N0 ((Rev Orion /2Gb/54nm)) Part number : 1101151313 DDRIII 1333 4GB, ELP EBJ41UF8BAS0-DJ-F DDR3 1066 4GB Part number : 11011867
Do you have the same specification as indicated above?
Would that be the same issue when it is on the lower slot 0 ?
Note: If only one DIMM is used on the computer you are servicing, the card must be installed in SLOT-0 ( a : lower slot), but not in SLOT-1 ( b : upper slot) (page 41).
Update us how it goes.

Good morning everybody,

I have bought my laptop 1 year ago and everything was going ok, i installed many programs (Adobe illustrator) and games (PES2011) and many others and i faced no problems.
One day, my cousin used the laptop to watch a new movie but he forgot to charge the battery during that time until the laptop shuts down alone due to empty battery.
On the next day, i tried to power on my laptop it starts normally until it reached the Windows 7 logo it automatically shuts down. I tried again for several times with the same result then a blue screen with white writings on it was displayed on the screen (harddisk failure).
I bought a new Toshiba 500GB HDD and burned a new Windows 7 Ultimate x64 DVD to install a fresh new copy of it but i have faced the following:
1- when I power on the laptop it works normally.
2- I press F12 to choose the device to boot from (Boot from DVD)
3- It starts normally and a windows 7 screen appears with a loading bar. It is filled quickly in the first time then a new screen appears with a loading bar starts to fill but after around 75% of the loading bar is filled the laptop shuts down.
I tried to restart it for several times with the same result.

I make the following points to try to restart the laptop but always with the same result:
1- Remove the new HDD and then insert it
2- Remove the Rams and then insert them
3- Remove the battery and then insert it.

A:Booting problem with my Lenovo Ideapad Y560

Hello Hasan and welcome to Seven Forums.

Please forgive me but I'm a little confused. You say:

I bought a new Toshiba 500GB HDD and burned a new Windows 7 Ultimate x64 DVD to install a fresh new copy of it but i have faced the following:
1- when I power on the laptop it works normally.
2- I press F12 to choose the device to boot from (Boot from DVD)
3- It starts normally and a windows 7 screen appears with a loading bar. It is filled quickly in the first time then a new screen appears with a loading bar starts to fill but after around 75% of the loading bar is filled the laptop shuts down.
I tried to restart it for several times with the same result.

- Are you replacing the original laptop hard drive with the new Toshiba or is the Toshiba an external USB hard drive?
- Are you trying to clean install Windows 7 Ultimate x64 to the original laptop hard drive or to the new Toshiba?
- Where did you get the ISO file for Windows 7 Ultimate?

A:Lenovo Ideapad Y560 "black screen in boot up after windows 7 logo"

Sounds like a corrupted file system, so try running chkdsk.

How to run System File Checker (SFC) or chkdsk from the Recovery ConsoleBoot your Vista or Windows 7 installation DVD
When you see "Press any key to boot from CD or DVD", press Enter
At the "Install Windows" screen, click on Repair your computer at lower left
At the System Recovery Options screen, make note of the drive letter assigned to your boot drive (normally C and click Next
At the Chose a Recovery Tool window, click on Command Prompt. You will be sitting at X:\Sources directory
Run SFC or chkdskIf you did not note the drive letter of your boot disk, you can enter bcdedit and look at the osdevice line to see what it is.
For sfc, type sfc /scannow /offbootdir=c:\ /offwindir=c:\windows and press Enter (use the letter from above)
For chkdsk, type chkdsk c: /r and press Enter (use the letter from above).

Let either run to completion undisturbed.

Hello my friends ! A time ago i bouhgt two Lenovo ideapad 100 14 IBY (FreeDos Version) and install Windows 10 on it with UEFI and GPT Partition Table. All works fine until i want to play around with Linux and install UBUNTU Mate in UEFI on one of them. The install was easy but the Performance on Ubuntu with Bay Trail and the don't working Bluetooth was a reason to switch back to Windows 10. After that the Problem beginns. The Bios don't let me save changes anymore (only time and date !). There was no UEFI ESP and GPT Support since i install UBUNTU and the Bios Menu looks like that:Bios Entries on a blank DiskBootingThe Disk is Blank there is no ubuntu on there (Don't know waht the EFI Entries are no Hardware is connected). And when I boot also go to Network Boot there.(No Matter a USB Stick is connected). So what i did: # I Dismantle it and disconnect Battery and Cell and wait half an hour. # Nothing changes !# I change the HDD. # Nothing changes !# Reflash the BIOS by edit the plattform.ini - CheckByBios=1 - Error Cannot mount EFI Partition. # Nothing changes !# Install Windows 10 - Make mbr2gpt.exe and bcdedit and bootrec. # Nothing changes ! I can install and run Windows 10 in MBR and BIOS Mode on it. But no USB Stick was displayed in Boot Menu. So now Iam on my Limit and the Question is there a way to put UEFI and GPT back on it or does the BIOS locked in this State. For me UEFI is MALEWARE so why can a simple UBUNTU damaged my BIOS and ... HI, Please skip to paragraph six for the actual issue I am having--the preceding paragraphs include info that may help to identify how to fix this. I am posting this using my HP desktop running Windows 7 as my Lenovo Ideapad 110 cannot connect to internet as explained below: Firstly, Sorry if I am breaking community guidelines in any way with this post. I did multiple searches but only came up with "forgot my BIOS password-how can I reset it" type posts. I am looking for urgent help to get back into the "BIOS" of my Lenovo IdeaPad 110 running preinstalled Windows 10. Everything was running fine until yesterday. This is when I made the mistake of thinking I knew more about the system than I actually seem to lol :/ So, yesterday--I entered the "BIOS" screen upon startup using F2 (function key+F2). I went on to disable wireless connection ability (to test something unrelated), and also switched Boot from strait UEFI boot mode to legacy/UEFI boot-with UEFI being the default boot option.  I don't know if any of the above have to do with the issue I am now having but I wanted to share it just in case. Here is the real issue as of now: Also yesterday at the same time while in "BIOS", I also went on to set an "admin password", the one you must type in before you can even get to the lenovo splash screen to enter "BIOS". Basically I believe this is referred to as a POST password although I am not an expert cleary (hence asking for the experts' he... Read more

HI Everyone,

I just bought a brand new Ideapad Y560 with 740QM i7 & 8GB RAM 1333Mhz but when I run Speccy it shows my RAM as 8GB @ 665Mhz.

I have also had 4 BSOD happen to me in the first couple of days. The blue screen shows something about that I might have the wrong RAM installed but it does not give me enough time to read before restarting.

I don't want to open the laptop to check the RAM in case I void the warranty.

Another interesting thing I noted is that when I move my mouse to the top left corner of the screen I get the spinning wheel (instead of the normal cursor) almost as if some process is busy launching or something. I tried searching for this but found nothing.

Anyway, I hope someone here can shed some light on these issues.

So, long story short. I accidentally deleted my recovery partition and now it seems like the only thing that will get my laptop up and running normally again is a recovery disc from Lenovo. I just got off the phone with customer service and they informed me that recovery discs can not be ordered in USB form.  This is where my main issue is. My Lenovo Ideapad Y500 laptop did not come with a CD-ROM Drive. With that being said, I do not want to spend $69 on a recovery disc that will require me to purchase an external CD-ROM drive that potentially won't even work... When I asked customer support if I could return and get a refund for the disc if it will not boot through an external CD-ROM drive, they said no. Has anyone been able to run a recovery disc from an external cd-rom drive successfully? Any suggestions? I'm at my wit's end with this thing...

A:Y560 - Where can I get recovery media?

Good day and welcome to the community.
Sorry you're having difficulty with the Support site.
The page you linked loaded successfully for me just a moment ago.
Here is the section regarding obtaining Recovery media:
A. How can I get the recovery media CD/ DVD ?
Method 1: Download the files to create a recovery disk
This options is only available with selective machines that was manufactured with factory downgraded system. Please follow link on the document to check if your device is eligible and follow the instructions on how to download files to recover to factory default
Lenovo Digital Download Recovery Service (DDRS)
Note: If you machines is no eliglbe for files to be downloaded please follow step B
Method 2: Request for a CD or DVD
EMEA region please visit this online portal to place a request https://www.lenovorecovery.com/Extranet/Home.aspx
Other regions contact the support center
Unless your machine came with Downgrade Rights (requires a Windows Pro license), you can't use Method 1, and Method 2 doesn't apply to the US.
I believe that in your case, you'll need to contact Support (info below) to discuss. If media is available, they'll confirm machine and serial numbers to determine which version is applicable, and there may be a cost involved.
Hope this helps clarify.

My bios can not boot any operating system, nor removable media. I have tried changing the boot sequence, UEFI to Legacy support, and Legacy first, and also tried restoring setup defaults but it is still not working. How can I fix this problem? I am using Lenovo ideapad 630. Thanks

Good day. I updated my BIOS with this https://pcsupport.lenovo.com/uu/sk/products/LAPTOPS-AND-NETBOOKS/300-SERIES/305-15IBY/80NK/downloads... After update i got a big problem. It cound not find anything to boot from .So i did Fn+F2 -The Information show the HDD in hard disk   and DVD in ODD ,but in Boot while i have UEFI boot mode i do not have anything to boot with the EF is totaly clear(there is nothing..not even network) ... When i switch to Legacy support mode there is HDD, ODD, USB, Network.....so i tryed to start windows from hdd in this mode but failed ( not possible on legacy mode (  the 0x0 ...00A5 error ))so i wanted to try from usb or cd windows instalation ( is not possible on legacy mode ( ...00A5 error )) but i was totally able to boot enything else on it..(linux, comodo rescue and stuff like that) ..right now i have installed linux on hdd ..and i am able to boot it while on legacy.  Is there a way how to get the previous version of Bios? Any way  to install the version? or somehow get a DVD or anything like that so i can boot and isntall it from CD/DVD or boot-usb (vie legacy)? As i can NOT use windows (legacy say no..and UEFI is blind) right now it i am at tought spot. I saw a few similiar posts but not with this particular problem, or not answered(put poorly described problem).

Hello everyone ... I can not enter the BIOS menu or BOOT selection during system startup. (In case: Windows). I press the sequence Fn + F2, Fn + F1, Fn + F12, Delete, Esc and nothing happens. Any suggestions for this problem? Some configuration is made so that the key combination option is available the next time for entry on Boot Selection or BIOS access? Thank's.
