Can't find Chipset Drivers for Lenovo G550 - Windows 7

Q: Can't find Chipset Drivers for Lenovo G550 - Windows 7

Hello, first of all, here the necessary informations for my Laptop: G550 Laptop (Lenovo) - Type 2958 - Model 29588MGT4500(2.3GHz), 2GB RAM, 320GB 5400rpm HD, 15.6in 1366x768 LCD, Intel 4500M, CDRW/DVDRW, Broadcom 802.11bg wireless, 10/100 Ethernet, Camera, 6c Li-Ion, Win7 Home Premium 32(taken from the lenovo page via serial-number) I'm trying to fix the laptop of a friend. He deinstalled a lot of drivers for some reason, and after that the laptop wasn't running anymore.I thought, sure no problem we just format the hard drive and reinstall windows. Unfortunatelly after formating i couldn't find the chipset drivers on the lenovo web page. I contacted the german lenovo support but they told me they do not provide the driver for windows 7, only xp and vista. I asked if it would work when using vista but he didn't know. And now i wanted to ask if anybody could please help me with this. I thought the driver must exist because the laptop was bought with windows 7. Or did they just use vista and it works more or less? Help would be very much appreciated, thanks!

I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

Hi.I have Lenovo Y400 with Windows 10 updage, since I've been upgraded from Windows 7. Currently I have problems with external usb 3.0 hdd because of lack of Intel chipset drivers for C216 chipset Intel HM76 motherboard. External usb hdd occasionally fails to be regonized by system and doesn't work until I uplug it and plut it again.According to Intel's community they don't support this motherboard as it is shipped as OEM for laptop manufacturers, so I'm asking my question here. Is Lenovo Y400 model already obsolete and we won't get Windows 10 upgrade with drivers ugraded?

Hi.
I have an Advent DT1404. Windows 7 home premium 64 bit.
The motherboard is Foxconn H61MXL/H61MXL-K.
I have a message to say Code 28, no ethernet controller driver.
I have downloaded a Lan driver from Foxconn and a chipset driver, but I cannot install them as I do not know how to.The device manager cannot find them.
Can anyone help? Also, do I need the ethernet controller given that my pc is connected wirelessly to the internet?
My pc is running slow and freezing a lot, but I do not know if this is connected to there being no ethernet controller working. Does anyone know?
Thanks a lot,

Good day all I have installed Windows 10 Pro 64-bit on an old Lenovo G550. It used to work well on Windows 7, but now I cannot install or update the display drivers in order to connect an external display (LG 49" TV) at 1920 x 1080. Windows installed its own useless drivers that obtains at least 1366 x 768 on both the laptop and the TV when displays are duplicated. Then the highest I can go is 1366 x 768. When I select "Show only on 2" (which is essentially what I want to do), it goes down to an even worse display resolution, but this also disables the Resolution drop-down.  I have downloaded every version of drivers know to God and man from Lenovo's and other sites, but all of them tells me: "This computer does not meet the minimum requirement for installing software." I have deleted the driver and reinstalled via "Scan for hardward changes" as well. I have done a Windows update as well. I have no idea what to do next. How do I fix this stupid problem? Please help me. Thank you in advance.Kind regardsRenier

Hi,

I think my chipset is Intel Pentium 4 CPU 2.93GHz and my motherboard is Gigabyte GA-8TRC410M-NF but when using Driver Genius to scan for driver updates it reports back AMD South Bridge Driver (PCI bus) & AMD Chipset Drivers (ATII/O Communications Processor SMBus Controller) need installing/updating ?

Do I need them ? I think I've installed ATI Catalyst before for the SMBus driver but recently uninstalled because I didn't understand what it was for and didn't like the folder/installer

A:AMD Drivers On An Intel Chipset (South Bridge & Chipset Drivers ?)

First thing, check your specs just to be 100% sure of what you have.

Second, Driver Genius and any similar program is not really recommended as they aren't particularly reliable.

Then if you still have drivers for stuff you don't have we can talk about them.

I want to do a clean install and replace the pre-installed Vista with Windows 7. I see that the Lenovo G550 download page has drivers for Windows 7, but where is the pre-installed software, like Veriface, camera software, and all other pre-installed Lenovo software? I looked at all OS options for the G550 on the download page, and NONE of them had the G550 laptop software, all they had for each OS option was only  the drivers. I understand that I can make a recovery DVD, but as I understand  it, it will return the system to the factory fresh state (all pre-installed programs installed, but also with the factory installed VISTA  - yuck!). I didn't see any option to only re-install the  Lenovo software without also re-installing the OS. When I look at the download pages for other Lenovo  laptops, I see that they have drivers AND SOFTWARE, but the G550 has no software except for the drivers. Since the G550 came with no software disks, and there doesn't seem to be any of the software online, how exactly does one do a clean installation of an operating system, and then re-install the Lenovo software, on a G550? I was able to find downloads of programs like Veriface on the Lenovo site for different laptop models, but unfortunately those were much older software versions, and for a different Operating system. Why can't Lenovo post all of the software online? If they aren't going to provide the software on DVD... Read more

A:Where is the software for the Lenovo G550???

A week later and still no software? Come on Lenovo, I looked through the forums and saw that I wasn't the only one looking for the downloads. The only thing I can find is older Veriface software for G530s, and that is 32 bit ( I need 64 bit) G550 owners need the software downloads for Veriface, EasyCapture and whatever else you installed on the machine. Why did Lenovo not provide reinstallation DVDs with the computer? Since this wasn't done, then you should at least provide us with download links for this software. There are a lot of folks waiting to upgrade to Windows 7, and they would like to be able to use their built-in webcams after a clean install of Windows 7. DELL provides both reinstallation Disks AND  download links; why is Lenovo incapable of doing the same?

My 3ys old Lenovo G550 has stopped accepting power from the power jack. It's been fluffy for a while and has needed massaging to work, but now it's game over. It's doesn't with/without the battery. Been surfing around and partly concluded that it's a weak point in this design. Was on the Lenovo support today, and it will be too expensive to let them work the problem. Also learned that the power jack comes as a pigtail that can be purchased, but the laptop needs a total tear-apart to exchange the cable. Have not been able to find instructions/videos showing the needed tricks. Anyone in here that can help, or has experience with the same issue?

A:Lenovo G550 power issue

Sorry to hear this as I own a G550. My first thought after receiving and plugging power cord into it first time " what a cheesy weak and wimpy feel it had" - I've been waiting for it to crater ever since. Frankly surprised it has lasted this long. However, when it does, I'll not hesitate to tear that sucker apart to attempt a fix.

Good luck on getting it working. If you do find a maintenance manual, please do share.

HELP....I have a Lenovo G550 that is running Windows7 and has been for several months! Anyway, it will connect to the internet via wireless, but it only stays connected for a few minutes. I have other computers in the house and they remain connected, so that leads me to believe it's not the router.

Thus far I've done a few odds and ends suggested on other sites to eliminate my problem, like taking the battery out for 30 minutes, changing the power setting....I ran spybot to see if there was some bug lurking around and none of that helped.

If the recovery DVDs that you burned are bad, use the recovery partition to re-install Vista. If the recovery partition is bad, you will need to purchase replacement recovery DVDs from the system manufacturer.

The internet access WIFI WAN(Miniport) drivers crashed. I need to replace them. Somewhere on the Lenovo website I thought I saw advice that stated there is disk that can be purchased to replace the old drivers. Is this true? What is the name of the product? The service center in my area stated that there is no product, and that I needed to pay them for installation plus the product. Sounds a little off.... If there is a product I can purchase to restore the seven (7) drivers, as I cannot access the internet from my computer at it's location and must go to a public computer. See attachment for what I am trying to replace.

Hello, I bought my Lenovo G550 model 20023 around 4 years ago. When I recieved the laptop there was not any operating system on it and the seller told me that this model does not have one. But now, after years!, by accident I came across this link that shows all the G550 series have windows OS preinstalled on them. My CPU is Intel pentium T4400 with 2 DDR3 gigabte of RAM. My hard disk is 250 GB. I could not find exactly a g550 laptop with these specifications in that link, but there are two models with the same CPU. Does my laptop have a windows os? If yes, can I take it back by lenovo company?

A:Lenovo G550 Model 20023 OS

Hi yashar2014, welcome to the forums,

the odf you linked to only contains models manufactured for the US market, I don't believe there was a document of this type for systems sold on the European market at the time.    You can tell they are US systems by the "U" on the end of the type / model numbers e.g. 2958-2CU.

Do you have a similar 7 digit type and model number on your system or any other identifying numbers except the serial number?  Do you have the Lenovo order number for the system?   I'm pretty sure there were versions of the G550 on sale in Europe with DOS preinstalled, no Windows OS.

Sorry if this is in the wrong section.

So I had one of those TDSS Google Redirect virus things. It wasn't too much of a problem but it was irritating. Anti-virus things would automatically close a few seconds after I started any scan. So I figured that it would be much easier to just put it back to factory settings (I didn't have much saved any way).

So after the factory reset, during the Windows 7 Installation the mouse wasn't moving. Then I plugged in my USB mouse in and it started moving. I don't have a USB Keyboard so I used the on screen keyboard to fill out the rest. However when I try to use the inbuilt Keyboard and Touchpad they don't respond. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the drivers for both, I have updated the BIOS, I've tried using function and F8 all to no avail.

The keyboard works in the BIOS (I can select Safe Mode, etc) but not in Safe Mode or actual Windows.

BTW the laptop is Lenovo G550 if that helps anyone.

Can someone please help? Thanks!

It was working perfectly fine for several months. But, then recently a problem cropped up. Now, when I click the Bluetooth icon, click the adaptor on and then click 'Show Bluetooth devices', nothing really happens. The adaptor turns on and then after clicking 'Show Bluetooth devices, the search for locating bluetooth devices continues but no device is located. Similarly , if I try to browse files on my laptop by using the bluetooth on my mobilephone even then it doesn't work. I just get a message on the cellphone ie.  'connection lost'.I have carried several scans on my PC in past few days and the files always come out as clean so that's not a problem.I can't understand why I can't browse files when the bluetooth on both the laptop and mobile are switched on and both the devices are on discoverable mode.
Also, my hot key combination Fn + F5 does not show wireless settings menu now. However, it had been working fine for several months so this is a recent problem.

Recently, due to some hardware failures, I had to replace my motherboard. I also decided to reinstall Windows 10.

When I went to install the chipset drivers (16.4.2 Crimson, 64-bit), the only things it wanted to install were graphics related.

I can install these manually, but I'm not sure which drivers I should replace; it's simply been to long since I've had to do this and my memory isn't as sharp as it used to be. I'm having a problem with system file corruption on two computers with ASUS Sabertooth 990FX Rev 2 motherboards and some resulting issues after upgrading from Windows 8.0 to 8.1. ASUS still doesn't have 8.1 chipset drivers available for their AMD motherboards but they have 8.1 for their Intel boards, which is interesting. I have been told by a third level MS Support person that the corruption is caused by a hardware issue and he refuses to troubleshoot the computer until the corruption is resolved. He said that in the 8.0 to 8.1 upgrade, Microsoft made some significant changes so he thinks that 8.1 chipset drivers should be installed.

Every few days, when I run sfc /scannow, it finds corruption. If sfc can't fix it, then I run the dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth command and eventually it gets fixed. In the meantime, some strange things happen with Window's operation but I don't get BSODs and other major things but the computer can hang for a while.

I have contacted ASUS but I get conflicting information from them. If it's the internal, you may need to get the drivers from the laptop manufacturer. If it's the external, it could be USB drivers.

Have you checked Device Manager? Are there any devices with yellow ! ...if so, those devices need drivers installed.

I have been trying to fix a friends Lenovo G550 running Windows 7 Home Premium. The laptop won't boot and gives BSOD error "STOP: 0x000000F4 (0x00000003, 0x887925C8, 0x88792734 ...)" the codes in brackets change each time. It then does a crash dump and reboots.

There has been no new hardware or programs installed recently (apparently).

These are the steps I have taken:
Boot in all versions of Safe Mode (same BSOD).
Boot to Last Known Good Config (same BSOD).
Windows Startup Repair (can't solve problem reboots to BSOD).
Windows Restore (can't restore).
Windows Memory Diag (no problem found).
Removed one stick of RAM boot (BSOD), replace and remove other stick of RAM boot (BSOD).
Remove and reseat HDD.

My instinct tells me it is a HDD fault. Does anyone have any other suggestions or is the next reasonable step to buy a replacement HDD and reinstall Windows?

Thanks in advance.

This  G550  was working well till I was persuaded, perhaps unwisely,  in 2016 to 'upgrade' from Win 7 to 10. Since then bluetooth has vanished; also more and more often the laptop won't boot up ~ i have to keep trying turning it off and on maybe half a dozen times then it comes back up eventually but I fear at some point it will stop ~ then what? Another thing which SOMETIMES works and sometimes doesn't  ( I don't understand how that can be ) is that I have it hooked up to a large screen monitor.......... But sometimes it won't send a signal to that................ Again, if I restart a few times eventually it does.  Are the above all driver issues ?     If  it's amatter of downloading new drivers could someone please provide the actual link ? Or would it be better to try to revert from WIN 10 to WIN 7 ?  ( and if so how do I do that ? ) I suppose I could buy a new machine but not really inclined to if I can get this one to work more reliably........... Before the win 10 upgrade it did everything I need ( basically web browsing and emailing ). Oh, did I mention that LOADS of music I had stored has also become inaccessible ?   The songs and albums are still  LISTED  on the screen  but when you click on them nothing happens.    i would like to get that back too. YES I have done a fresh re install of windows  ~ no improvement.

I've done a new install of Windows 8.1 on a system that had been running Windows XP x64, I swapped out the hard drive for a brand new one and installed from scratch. This system uses an Asus M5A78L-M LX Plus motherboard which uses an AMD 760G (780L)/SB710 chipset. Since the drivers available on the Asus website are woefully old, I did some looking around and found this page: Chipset
which should contain the correct drivers for all the AMD hardware on this motherboard like the SATA controllers and all the hardware that you find in Device Manager / System Devices but after installing them and rebooting I see that the SATA controller and all the system devices that should have AMD drivers install are still using generic Microsoft drivers, some of which date back to 2006.

Does anyone have any ideas or suggestions about this?

Dratted new laptop  (Lenovo G505) came with Win 8.  I had a Win7 install CD and license key, so I figured why not?
The rest is a bit of a nightmare... Windows installed perfectly, but was missing drivers for some of the USB ports, networking and WiFi.  Found those on the Lenovo site, but even after hunting everywhere, could not find a couple of drivers so things are infuriatingly wonky (as opposed to lovably wonky!).
The mouse (touchpad) is doing an annoying hover-to-click thing I cannot seem to turn off, but most significantly, the hotkeys are only barely working and I cannot seem to adjust the monitor brightness no matter what I do.  I've got it so the volume (F1-F3) and all function keys are working, but the brightness-up key does NOTHING, while the brightness-down key shows a blank "fuel gauge" indicating that there is NO brightness, while in reality, it's turned up all the way and barely watchable.  :-(

Any suggestions for either or all of these woes???
I think it's disgusting how the Microsoft/Lenovo monopolists are still working hand-in-hand to make a system that is dysfunctional without Windows 8.  :-(

I've searched on Lenovo's site with no luck, from the pull down menu they don't have the J115 listed (they start at J200). Where aren't these drivers on Lenovo? Where can they be found? Thank you for any help you can provide.

Hello Munchkin, welcome to the communities,

If you go to the support site and click on the word Support" at the top a menu will open, please select the item second from bottom in the second column from the left; End-of-Life Products; this will bring you to the driver site for older products which are no longer catered for on the main support site;

EOL End Of Life Product resource

Once there you need to select as follows;
Type; Desktops & All-In-Ones
Series, Lenovo 3000 J Series
Sub series; J115 .......

Happy installing

Edit; edited link to remove unwanted smileys.

It's a bit confusing, but here goes...

Someone I know at work created an image of machines using the Intel 815E chipset. Now he wants to transfer that same image onto a machine using the Intel 845GS chipset. However (and I'm sure no-one will be too surprised at this), the machine keeps blue-screening whenever we try to boot.
It's Win2K, corporate edition, all legit etc. Question is, how can we install the new chipset drivers into Windows without booting it up? It blue-screens before it goes anywhere, but is it possible to install from DOS, or using some other kind of alternate OS? (like bootable CD-ROM, FD, etc)
Of course, have already tried booting into safe mode, tried using the recovery console on the Win2K CD with no luck. (the latter allows him to check the drive, etc, but not INSTALL anything)

So... is this even possible? Or should I just forget this and start from scratch? Any and all suggestions are welcomed!

Howdy there Nautilus...

Question is, how can we install the new chipset drivers into Windows without booting it up?Click to expand...

No can do, the OS has to be loaded before you can install the chipset drivers...

However...

You can load the image on one of the pc's with the 815E chipset, and install the Standard drivers for the IDE controllers, and Standard drivers for the Chipset ( when asked to reboot don't ), then use Sysprep with the -PNP option to force the mini setup, then dump the image back up to where you are storing the images, you may have to install the drivers for the 845GS chipset...

When I run the Chipset Drivers Installation CD into my drive, it shows this (attached JPG)

A:nVidia nForce2 Chipset Drivers For Windows 7?

Since you are trying drivers, did you try the Vista drivers? I loaded the Vista ones for my motherboard (Intel DX48BT2) which seem to be working OK. I did have to use the Compatibility troubleshooter to get them to load.

I am not recommending you install them, just passing along some information...
