My computer keeps freezing up while im watching video and not watching

Q: My computer keeps freezing up while im watching video and not watching

Help me out guys. I've had my asus eeepc 1001pxd running at 16 bit ( just changed it)
and my internet keeps freezing up especially when I im watching video. When i check the task manager it shows that I'm using a load of cpu when I open new page I've changed my browser from chrome to mozilla and finally now to Opera which seems to work better but whenever I'm online it seems to freeze up. I've had some other little glitches too. Once in a while the keyboard just stops working and also once in a while arrow keys just start turning the screen upside down out of the blue. I've tried to figure everything out. but to no avail. It even froze up (not responding) when i started the event viewer. If anyone helps me solve this I will love you forever!

Here are the details from my eventvwr from the last week.

Preferred Solution: My computer keeps freezing up while im watching video and not watching

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hi,

If this issue started occurring after doing some recent software changes on your computer, then I would suggest you to restore your system back to a date when it was working fine. System Restore will affect Windows system files, programs, and registry settings only.

For System Restore steps, you can refer to the URL mentioned: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/products/features/system-restore

This just started happening a week ago, I'll go to a website like youtube or nbc.com and watch streaming video and my computer freezes, entire thing and if I let it sit for a few minutes a continuous beep can be heard coming from my tower. Sometimes it takes a minute, sometimes 15 minutes of watching video, but eventually the comp freezes and I gotta kill the power.

Tried to think of things I did differently right before this started happening and only thing I could think of is I left the comp on all night but that doesn't seem like it would cause this.

Since this has started happening I've tried using different web browsers, reduced background processes from 50 to 30, and opening the case up to clean out the dust.

Any ideas on what could be causing this or how to fix it?

System Specs Below.

A:BSOD Whilst Watching Youtube Video, After Watching Tumblr Video.

Quote:
"It's not a true crash, in the sense that the bluescreen was initiated only because the combination of video driver and video hardware was being unresponsive, and not because of any synchronous processing exception".

Since Vista, the "Timeout Detection and Recovery" (TDR) components of the OS video subsystem have been capable of doing some truly impressive things to try to recover from issues which would have caused earlier OSs like XP to crash.

As a last resort, the TDR subsystem sends the video driver a "please restart yourself now!" command and waits a few seconds.

If there's no response, the OS concludes that the video driver/hardware combo has truly collapsed in a heap, and it fires off that stop 0x116 BSOD.

If playing with video driver versions hasn't helped, make sure the box is not overheating.

Try removing a side panel and aiming a big mains fan straight at the motherboard and GPU.

Run it like that for a few hours or days - long enough to ascertain whether cooler temperatures make a difference.

If so, it might be as simple as dust buildup and subsequently inadequate cooling.

I would download cpu-z and gpu-z (both free) and keep an eye on the video temps Let us know if you need help

When I download and watch YouTube clips, although the dialogue is continuous the picture freezes for a fraction of a second every few seconds.

This fault also manifests itself when I view non-YouTube video such as BBC iPlayer and other TV catch-up software on Firefox, IE and Chrome.

My computer is a Dell Dimension 1100. Its operating system is Windows XP.

Recently I had an additional 1GB fitted to my processor. I wonder, could the fault have anything to do with this? I doubt it, as the computer has been performing a lot faster since the RAM was added.

I?ve tried completely removing Flash Player and reinstalling it from Adobe?s website. This didn?t work.

Seems like buffering which is normal. I suggest you pause the clip and wait until it loads completely and see if that helps.

I've recently built a pc using
Core i5 4570T 2.90ghz
8GB DDR3 Ram
Radeon HD xfx 7900
Firepower OCZ 700w modular PSU
Tx3 coolermaster cpu heatsink
Gigabyte H97M-HD3 motherboard
Windows 8.1
Samsung 250 GB SSD
....
I have updated the drivers to all of my devices,. The problem is, when I am watching a video or playing a game it will sometime freeze causing the sound to loop over and over eventually I will have to restart the machine. It is not the graphics card because I tried my computer without it, using the integrated Intel graphics and the problem seems to happen even more, I ran a memory test and found no errors for my RAM. The only thing I can think of is that it might be a CPU, motherboard, or power supply issue. However I have no way to diagnose this, and I cannot afford to take it to a computer shop to have them test my stuff because they charge a lot of money. My components are not overheating as I am monitoring the temperature using HW monitor, this used to happen sporadically if the computer was left to idle. However it almost happens always if I am watching a video while playing a game. Today it happened twice. And without my AMD graphics card in my system using Intel HD graphics 4600, it happens even more. The picture becomes garbled and distorted, I cannot bring up the task manager, everything is frozen forcing me to restart. Do you have any clues? Thank you so much

I'm at my wits end. A few months ago I started having issues where my computer would freeze hard, mouse frozen, Ctrl-Alt-Del does nothing and the sound playing the last second of sound in extreme slow-mo that loops after about 10 seconds. Nothing can be done beside hard power off and restart.

This only happens when I am watching a video or playing a game. I just got a brand new GeForce GT 440 to test if that was the issue, and it still locks up.

Some quirks I've found. YouTube is usually okay. Demo movies in Steam, or on PCGamer.com or often in video ads cause the lock up.

If ITunes is open it locks up almost instantly and basically every single time I try to watch the weather for whotv.com.

In games it can run for a long time or a short time, it can be a graphic intensive game, or not. It can run for 10 hours straight on Skyrim on max settings, then I load Dungeon Keeper from GOG.com and locks up in 60 seconds. And vice versa for that matter.

I am starting to think it has something to do with sound. But I am unsure how to test this without shutting the sound off completely and forever (which is not something I want to do) or shelling out money for a sound card (which is not something I want to do).

I have wiped and reinstalled Windows 7 64 bit twice. Still same issues. I don't think it is a software issue, but possibly a driver issue.

Here is DXDIAG info to start with:

Sorry if this isn't the right forum and hello, I just recently bought a new computer and it is causing me some problems.

I originally bought it to play computer games on it as I do enjoy gaming, though it continues to freeze on me whenever I do so.

When I start up a game it plays fine on max settings (Borderlands/Crysis/COD4, etc.) thought after about 1 - 2 hours later it freezes giving me the only option of a hard restart.

When I start the computer up again I put the game on and this time it freezes after about 5 - 30 minutes. This even happens when I watching videos on youtube.

My computer specs are as followed;

Make/Model: Dell XPS 630
CPU: C2Q - Q8200 @ 2.33GHz
MEMORY: 3GB

My kids are attempting to watch video's, music either online via you tube or other sites and they continually freeze up. I am not sure how long this has been going on, I was watching something this morning and found it was happening. I have a relatively new HP computer (not quite a year old). Vista is the system being ran, 64 bit operating system, intel (R) core(tm) duo cpu, 4gb, hp pavilion dv6 notebook pc.

Why is this happening? is there anything within the system that I can adjust to stop it or a software upgrade I can do online without taking back to upgrade or software as a last resort I can buy to upgrade?

Any help would be appreciated

Sup, I've recently got myself a new PC [gonna attach the specs], it has been fine, but recently whenever I watch a video on YouTube, my PC starts to freeze after usually 1-2 minutes (It's like looking at a screenshot of youtube). After approx 4-5 minutes it unfreezes, there are two things that usually happen:
1) It unfreezes and I can use it as usual again, however the audio output device was changed.
2) The audio is completely gone and my keyboard, mouse and headset [I am using an USB headset) is disconnected :^(
And I do have windows 7; happens with Chrome and Firefox

I tried to go to safe mode but my monitor show no signal at the monitor screen
I tried uninstall the graphic card then suddenly my monitor screen show no signal

When i using the recovery disc the monitor show no signals but i still can do a full system recovery by using my imagination as the screen show no signals

Sometimes a message will pop up says kernel driver error

Im using windows 7 Home Premium , my graphic card is GT220
Here are my computer Specs:

Operating System: Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit (6.1, Build 7600)

A:[HELP]Computer keep freezing while watching videos and playing games.

Can you see the POST screen / BIOS prior to loading Windows? Or is there no signal at all?

If you can see POST / BIOS but lose signal as Windows loads - then that's interesting, as the recovery/safe mode uses the generic VGA driver.

The fact that the PC kept freezing coupled with the loss of signal suggests that either the card, or power supply may be faulty.

Hi there guyz, I'm new here and I hope that i'm posting this in the right area

I have an annoying problem from 3 weeks now. Whenever i try to play a game or watch a movie, my computer freezes and the only solution is to power off/power on.

Note: Sometimes the computer freezes for a short while and a message pops in the right corner of my screen saying something like "The driver stopped, but it recovered succesfully". I use a ATI RADEON x1600.

Hello,

Initially I had a problem with a BSOD for video scheduler, I installed the latest driver for my video card and I stopped receiving that BSOD. In its place, I began having a new BSOD stating, "An attempt to reset the video driver failed..." x0.00000016, so I followed the instructions on another link from this site and uninstalled the AMD driver and then used Driver Fusion to remove the remainder of it. Then I installed the latest driver.

Now I receive no BSOD, but while playing Company of Heroes, after a few minutes of play the screen froze and then went black, and the computer was completely unresponsive. I left it for a while to see if it would restart or show a BSOD, but nothing happened and I had to manually restart.

I have tried playing Diablo 3 to see if it was just that game, and it froze as well, but never went to a black screen, but the computer was unresponsive.

Not sure where to go from here. I have included everything SF Diagnostic generated.

Thank you for your time!

Hey, I've got a pretty annoying problem where the computer will freeze and monitor will turn black and speakers will play sort of a cut off buzzing sound. The only way to actually do anything is to force shut down the computer again.

This happens mostly while watching videos online but basically whenever the browser is running from what I can recall. It doesn't always occur either so it's hard to track down but when it does occur, I usually have no problem reproducing the problem after a reboot.

I have no problem playing games or anything else that may task the computer more which leads me to believe it is a codec-related problem.

Somewhat related may be that I have a problem with Spotify where it doesn't automatically play new local music in the play queue unless I specifically queue up new things to play.

Restarting the computer when it occurs ocassionally complains about the CPU being overclocked and this is the reason for the crash but I doubt this is actually the problem seeing as I've tried running it without any overclocking and running it at around 3.8-4.0 GHz (Turbo setting since the default CPU ratio is locked) and passing Memtest and Prime95 tests for 10 hours without any problems.

Computer doesn't crash due to overheating from what I can tell, freezing even when idling due to browser running or during Power-saving mode and is at about 40-50 degrees C.

System is about 1 ? years old and this has been an ongoing problem ever since. At first I thoug... Read more

A:Computer freezing watching videos online, possibly CPU-related

Update:
I realized that I gave a poor first description, the monitors don't turn black, they display what was previously displayed when the freeze occurs.

And the sort of cut off buzzing sound is simply from power getting cut to all devices, including mouse and keyboard not getting any power.

I also forgot to mention that I've tried running chkdsk, found no issues.

I'm gonna try running Accessible Event Watcher from the Windows SDK in order to see if I can identify anything suspect occuring when the freeze occurs. I'll check the normal Event Viewer to see anything for reference when it occurs again.

Otherwise, maybe this belongs in the Motherboards, Bios & CPU-section? If I had to guess, this is starting to feel like it is related to the PSU or the motherboard acting up.

Hello,

I've been experiencing this problem for awhile now. When I watch videos (for example, youtube), play pc games, or listen to music (itunes), my computer would randomly freeze up. The audio would sound like a broken record and I can't exit out so I have to shut down the computer. Also, I notice my internet connection is slower than usual. I do have virus/spyware protection (Trend Micro). I scan to see if there was a virus, but it shows nothing serious. My computer is about 5 years old and is a Dell Dimension 5150. I would greatly appreciate it if you guys have any suggestions as to what I should do. If you need any more information about my computer, let me know.

The only changes I made to the unit is to add a 130GB SSD and a Ceton tuner card.
Everything else is stock
The problem I am having is if I watch a video in Media Center or online the computer will turn off.
I don't mean shut down. I mean it acts like someone puled the plug. I have to press the power button to turn it back on.
Now I can have the computer on for days without a problem. I can watch video using VLC or Windows Media player But as soon as I try to watch something in Media Center or an online video it turns off.

Any ideas?

Hi,

While watching video ("Lost" on Hulu for example), Firefox will randomly freeze and stop responding, but audio continues to play as normal. I cannot close Firefox and simply restart either. It becomes so unresponsive that I have to perform a hard shutdown because not even CTRL + ALT + DELETE will work to resolve the issue. Now when I say it happens randomly, I mean it can happen at any point for any reason. Sometimes I can watch a whole episode fine, sometimes half the episode, and sometimes it happens sooner than later. This problem is quite frustrating because my computer is no more than 3 months old and I have had this problem since about 1 month.

There is another problem that could be related to this issue, so I thought I would provide that information as well. There are other times when using the Internet, that I get kicked completely off and disconnected from the Internet. I click the Network icon in the bottom right corner and ask it to fix the problem, which is does successfully about 95% of the time. This happens maybe 1-2 times a week and I should note that my laptop has no problems like this and stays connected even when my desktop is not.

Computer details are as follows:

Dell Inspiron One 19 i015-1817BGA
Intel Pentium Dual Core E5300 (2.6 GHz, 800 MHz FSB, 2MB L2 Cache)
4GB Memory
640 GB Hard Drive
Windows 7 Home Premium (64-bit)

If you need more details, please let me know what and how to get them. Thank you!

hey guys I have been having this ussue for a few days now. Any time I try and watch any form of video I get about 5 - 15 mins into it and the computer locks up without warning. When it occures the screen shows pixelated outlines of the charactes / actors, while the sound continues for about 20 seconds after the pixels show up then it completely locks up. After rebooting windows theres no error message displayed other then the usual "windows was not shut down properly." I have tried running games and bench marks fo try trigger the effect but it only happens while watching a video. I also tried different media players like VLC, nero showtime and vision, windows media player, divx, quicktime and itunes but same result everytime without fail. If sys specs are needed they are listed on the drop bar and on the profile of this account.

Thanks in advance and look forward to resolving this issue

Computer started stuttering all of a sudden when playing a video or even typing and e-mail (letters lag on screen). Would really appreciate any advice. Many thanks.

Welcome to the forums dapkevic,

It could be a number of things, I see you are running a pretty heavy OC on your CPU, my 1st port of call would be to return it to stock and see if the problem is still there.

If it is, then have you made any changes recently to your setup like hardware changes, OC's on any parts or even think about what software you have installed since it started happening.

Paul.

Hey all

Im having this really annoying problem with my computer atm when it randomly Freezes whilst just simply watching videos, Such as Youtube videos.

Ive Tried Ctrl Alt Delete, Hitting Esc button and waited 10mins.. Leaving me to restart.

Goodmorning Sambo, this could be a problem with your video card but I dont think so. Because your viewing them fine from the desktop I would suspect either your internet connection itself, the website your viewing the video from,(specifically not enough bandwidth), or your computer needs to update something.(Activex, java, something like that). Thats only a guess Sambo. Those are some things you could check on and meanwhile my post will move this thread back to the top so another tech will take a look at it and offer sugestions. I'm glad my link resolved your other issue. Take care.

There are never any issues on Windows Media Player however VLC, DIV X player and some online players such as YOUTUBE will always restart shortly after they've been switched to fullscreen.

Does anyone have any ideas on how I could fix this problem?
Any/all advice would be highly appreciated.

Hi, I was watching a video and my screen started disolving and then the system crashed.  Now I have a blue screen when I boot.  I tried using Startup Repair and it said it could repair.  Then offered me an option to try restoring to an earlier time. When I took that option all the restores failed due to an inability to copy this file: "users/office/fonts/purchased/fonts/linotype_fonts/fonts".  I then tried booting and it again went to blue screen.

To me it seems like a virus. I have a dual boot Windows7 environment and then second system image runs fine.  I can also pop out of System Repair disk (using the Windows7 installation disks) and still see the files.

Do you have any suggestions?  I'd like to avoid reinstalling the software on the machine, as much of it is purchased with three or more cycles of updates and I'd have to go through all the upgrades and customization - likely weeks of work to get it all back to where it was before I watched the bad video :-(

Hi all. Need a little help.

When I'm watching streaming video on Firefox, most of the time, about 5 minutes or so into it, the browser will crash. Sometimes, even my entire system crashes and restarts on its' own! I've read it might be a RAM or a temperature problem, but I don't really know the first thing about diagnosing, recognizing, or fixing those problems. I've done a Disk Cleanup and a Defrag, but that doesn't seem to work. I've got more than 20% on my Hard Disk and 448 MB of RAM.

Not sure what else to do. Anyone have any ideas?

[EDIT: Ah, now that I thought about it, it happened when my son was playing some games on the internet. I believe it was the Nick Jr. website. Not too sure which program Firefox uses to play the game.]

1) The most common issue I face is after a few seconds of viewing a video, the screen would freeze, proceed by either no signal on my monitor or weird fuzzy/green lines on my screen (No audio from video heard as well).

2) My graphic card crashed frequently with error message saying AMD Driver stopped responding and has recovered. (Issue mostly encounter when watching videos on Media Player Classic or opening of Firefox)

3) Weird shuttering and fuzzy while I am watching a video (Picture attached as fuzzy).

4) I have encountered two BSOD before as while, stating video scheduler has encountered a fatal error. (I have attached the minidump.)

On my part, I have ensure all my drivers are updated, including all software but problem still persists. I have also cleaned off all dust in my desktop.

My desktop PC is customized build with specs:

Out of curiosity, what program are you using to run the MKV files. Also have you tried converting the files to a different format and see if you have the same issue.

I find MKV files also require a specific Codec pack in order to properly encode and trans-code the video and audio.

A:Random Freezing While watching youtube or anything

Hi,
Unfortunately the installation is non-genuine.
The Key is that of a Dell OEM computer - and the motherboard is a retail one by Gigabyte.

The best course of action is to:Purchase a legitimate Windows 7 licence.
Format the HDD.
Reinstall Windows and activate.

Whenever I try watching a video, my computer will randomly freeze a certain amount of time in - The sound will carry on for about ten seconds, but the screen will refuse to refresh. If I leave it, it briefly BSODs and reboots. I thought this would be a problem with the format (matroska), but it freezes with avi as well. I then considered that it could be something to do with the media player (VLC), but it froze in mplayer also. I thought it could be something to do with DirectX, so I reinstalled the latest version, but it still occurs... I have never had this problem in the past.

My config: 192mb ram, 60 gig hard drive, XP sp2. Swapped in the 60gb disk about two weeks ago and did a fresh install of XP. The model's a compaq presario 2100 notebook in case anyone's interested.

Also, it never freezes during anything else. Help?

A:Freezing problem while watching videos

Your problem more than likely resides in your video drivers (or maybe your sound drivers, but probably your video ones). I recommend finding out what sort of card you have and updating the drivers. If you need help doing this, let me know and I'll see if I can type you out some directions.

It's a problem I've been having while gaming, watching videos, or skype with friends. Either I will get a BSOD or My computer will completely freeze and I have to hold down the power button to reboot it. I figured its time to get some help if possible. I used BSOD ScreenView and noticed most of my problems come from ntoskrnl.exe+72a40 and I'm not sure how to fix it.

Are you overclocking?

Code:
Processor Version AMD FX(tm)-8350 Eight-Core Processor
Processor Voltage 89h - 0.9V
External Clock 200MHz
Max Speed 3200MHz
Current Speed 4000MHz
As you are getting BSODs, you should stop overclocking and run all the hardware components like CPU, GPU and RAM to their default settings. Also set the BIOS to default, too.
How To Clear CMOS (Reset BIOS)

Update the network driver from Realtek ... get the second item from the list, that is the "Win7 and Server 2008 R2 Auto Installation Program" one and install it.

See how it goes. Let us know.

Hey Guys,

I would very much appreciate a little help on a problem I am experiencing with video playback on my laptop. Here are some specs, if you need more just search for the model number or ask.

HP Pavillion dv6760ea Entertainment Notebook, Vista Home Premium 32-bit, Intel Core 2 Duo T5450 / 1.67 GHz ( Dual-Core ), Ram: 2 GB (installed) / 4 GB (max) - DDR II SDRAM ( 2 x 1 GB ), NVIDIA GeForce 8400M GS - 256 MB.

So basically, I play a video off my hardrive, doesn't matter what program I use to play them or what video format I use (as far as I am aware of) or how big or bad quality, it has a tendency to occasionaly freeze the pictue (the sound carries on as normal) for a few seconds before the picture unfreezes but goes into a fast forward state until it catches up with the sound again before it starts palying again. This happens randomly through the video. Sometimes it happens constantly, sometimes only once or not at all. It is pretty random when it happens and how often.

I have checked my Laptop's performance during these occurances to find no out of the ordinary performance history, my laptop isn't overloading and has plenty of spare processor power or whatever to spare on the video.

I downloaded the K-lite codec pack... this didn't help. I can only think that there is some conflict happening on my laptop. Any ideas?

Help is, as always, greatly appreciated!

Thank you very much.

So initially when I first inherited the computer, it had a weak video card(ATI HD3650), Core 2 QUAD HQ8200 and 4GB of ram running Vista. With this GPU it would blue screen every 3 days instead of every day. I put in a better GPU (HD6570) and it started happening every day. Reformatted and upgraded to windows 7 which of course helped nothing. Since then, I've brought it to a computer repair shop where they checked and said they found no issues with the HDD and memory(I also checked memory prior to this with no issues found). They found a couple blown capacitors in the power supply and upgraded that to a 450 Watt. Still made no difference. Now I have an AMD R7 250X ASUS 1GB edition for a GPU. Seems a little better but not by much. Since the upgrade, most BSOD's point to ntkrnlpa.exe when before it pointed to ATI files. I know there have been posts similar to this before but I have not found help in those threads and was hoping there was something you smart cookies could find specific to my machine that might solve the problem. If someone can solve this, I owe you my life! I've spent hundreds of dollars trying to fix this so far. Thanks for reading my huge paragraph, I just wanted to make sure you have all the info :P Thanks!

EDIT: Last BSOD was DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL and the one before that mentioned a memory issue. It wouldn't surprise me if there was some sort of driver issue. I use driver identifier the best I can but not all of the driver updates work. If I could p... Read more

Hello,

Since about one month ago, I have been getting random freeze/BSOD's while watching videos in windows media player 11.

I am not sure if it is only due to using the player, or if some other service is locking up my computer, but the grand majority of times that my system has crashed has been while I was watching videos in the player.

I have attached the latest dump files in a zip archive, and here are my computer specs:

Windows Vista Home Premium
3gb RAM (ran the standard Vista-included mem test and no faults were detected)
Intel Core-2 2.13 ghz
Nvidia Geforce 8800 GTS 320 MB
Vista is installed on a Raid 0
I have a 500 GB backup Jbod harddrive (where the videos are stored)

If you need any other information, please let me know! Can someone help me with this?

Hello

This problem started a year ago with my old configuration, it started just once a day or just once a week... after a few months it was every day at least 3 or 4 times.
it mainly occured while i was watching a movie or playing a game, doesnt matter what game or what movie i was watching, ive tried to replace the RAM memory, run memory tests basicly everything i could do, even asked some local IT guys i knew, they didnt know what caused it... after a while i became really frustrated about it and i decided to upgrade my computer to my current configuration. after i upgraded my computer the problem was gone... till now! * i didn't bought a new HDD*
a few days ago Battlefield 3 was released, and after a few days of playing it the problem came back, while in game my computer crashed again randomly..! the game freezes, the only sound you hear is the last mili second of what sound it was playing in-game.

my current config:
