Outlook - download on HTML files when email containing HTML is received

Q: Outlook - download on HTML files when email containing HTML is received

Outlook keeps popping up two download boxes whenever I get email with attachments or that is in HTML format. I played with the trust center to see if I could turn this feature off, but it still pops up every time I open an email from Facebook or from a friend with an attachment in it.

Any ideas?

Preferred Solution: Outlook - download on HTML files when email containing HTML is received

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Right clicking and selecting 'properties' to change the icon is

This is a strange problem. I use MS Outlook (full version, not Outlook Express) as my primary email system. I use Yahoo as my "email for life" and obtain it using Outlook via their POP server.

When I send out a graphic HTML email message from Outlook to say:
1. a Yahoogroup with my Yahoo email address as a member, and
2. my Yahoo email address directly

(sent both simultaneously) the HTML will be received by my Yahoo address in the Yahoogroup (#1) but will not be received, but translated into plain text, by the Yahoo address which received the message directly (#2).

This is very odd, and I can't figure out if the problem is with Outlook, Yahoo, or something else.

If I take the time to more arduously create the HTML message directly within Yahoo webmail (on the web), the message (in full HTML) is successfully (and expectantly) received by both locations. But I really need Outlook to do this.

I've sent out HTML email to other people who are in my Yahoogroup who receive it fine there, but when I send the HTML email to them directly, they also have the problem of the message being translated into plain text.

This is very frustrating, and I would appreciate any help in figuring out this problem. I'm using Outlook 2002 SP-2.

Hello everyone! I have some html that I'd like to use as a personal signature setting with my Outlook emails. Two questions:

1.) what html do i use when inserting an image file from a folder on my desktop, and

2.) once I've completed the above step, how do I save all that html information so that when I select the "browse" option under "signatures" in Outlook", it will find it and paste it?

Hope that makes sense. When I read the online instructions it said to save my file a an html file in My Documents. When I did that, I was unable to locate the document in My Documents. I think that this shouldn't be this difficult. Help! lol

I'm using XP Home - SP1, with Outlook 2002. I use MS Word 2002 as my email editor.

When I either start a new email or reply to an existing one, the font size shows much larger than what is designated.

For example, if I specify Arial 10, it actually looks like font size 12. However, when I send myself a test email it appears normally as a size 10. This happens whether I'm sending a Plain Text, RTF or HTML message.

This just started doing this recently and doesn't change if I reboot, etc. Any ideas as to what's going on and how to fix it?

I'm trying to create a HTML email.

In Outlook 2003 I could create a webpage in Dreamweaver, save it as HTML, open it in IE, then 'send page by email' - easy enough. Now, loads of the HTML doesn't work any more because Microsoft have disabled loads of HTML functionality for Outlook 2007.

I can get around most of it, but what I can't do is to create anchor points within documents - it keeps trying to link to the original file on my C: drive. Apparently Microsoft are using Word's HTML rendering, so I've also tried to do it through that and use their 'bookmarks' thing, but still no joy.

Any ideas?

When I copy text from another email in Outlook to a new email it copies the text but with no spacing etc.

A:Solved: Outlook 2003 HTML email problem

It depends on the incoming email that you are copying the text from. Not all of them come in as HTML it depends on the senders email format. If it comes in a splain text replying to it will go out as plain text, same goes for copying a massage with formatting other than HTML.

Hello All,

Here is my problem. Everytime I open a program like Bearshare, Adobe, World of warcraft, etc. IE explorer opens up with the prompts the "Open or Save" dialog box and prompts me to download a file or open it. Typically, it's an html file which I think is supposed to open up within the program itself.. sorta like the splash screen. Instead it is getting opened with IE explorer and prompting me to save it or open is. .The save path is documents/settings... Example. Whenever I used to open bearshare, a splash screen would appear in the open window of bearshare. Now, I get this darn IE explorer prompting me to download and html file or open it up seperately.

This is driving me nuts! Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks much.

My office recently upgraded to Office 2007. By default, Outlook is configured to convert all incoming messages to plain text. This is a setting that we do not have the rights to change. However, when we used to have Outlook 2003 all the emails that were originally in HTML format could be converted back to HTML once we opened up the email and verified it was a trusted email. There was simply a "convert this to HTML" option that would show up somewhere in the header. This is no longer the case in Outlook 2007.

I can't for the life of me figure out how to convert the text to HTML on INCOMING emails. Outgoing isn't a problem. I've even tried editing the incoming email or forwarding it and then converting to html but it doesn't display properly. Any images that were in the email can only be viewed one at a time by clicking directly on the picture link, but not with the rest of the email.

Any ideas?

Sometimes, but not always (even during the same send/receive) Outlook 2003 converts incoming HTML email to plain text. This has been happening on and off for the last three weeks.

Outlook options are set to NOT convert to plain text and to use Outlook as email editor, with html for new messages. There are no add-ins or com options installed.

Like I said, this doesn't happen all the time, but does happen every time from one particular address. I've check with him and all other people sent the same email received it OK.

Am also using Avira Antivir for email virus scans.

I've seen this issue on other postings but have not seen the answer yet.

I have Vista, Outlook 2007 and Office 2003.

1. I have been trying to send an email merge (works fine on my other XP machine with office 2003) in HTML. I can send a merge in text, but the HTML option yields nothing. I purchased outlook 2007 because Msft Mail was not working either. I am about to throw out outlook 2007 and try to downgrade to outlook 2003 to see if this option works as it does on my XP machine. Any ideas before I totaly frustrate my wife by reloading her software again?

2. When the "text' email merge is initiatied, I get a message for each mail that asks me to accept that another program is trying to send an email. This seems to happen for each email which could really be a problem for several hundred emails. I have tried turning off the firewall but the box still appears. This whole Vista thing is making me crazy. I have to reconfigure my outlook 2003 and transfer the list of names and the word doc to my xp laptop just so I can send the mail merge. What is the setting to turn this off?

I am wondering why I paid for Vista, and the Oulook 2007 sw. Sorry, just frustrated. This should not be so difficult.

I am using Windows XP SP3.

I am trying to add an "edit" action to the .html file type. I have .html associated with Firefox. I go to Tools>Folder Options>File Types> and .html isn't even listed! (Nor is .htm) So I click "New" and add the .html file type. Then I click "Advanced" and fill in the action info and hit "OK". Then I hit "Close".

It doesn't work, and then when I go back into "File Types", html is not listed anymore. Basically, Windows is ignoring my attempts to add the .html file type.

I created the .xxx file type and added actions to open with Firefox and Word. It worked perfectly.

So what is it with the .html file type that Windows won't create it or list it?

Hi all,
My problem started a few weeks ago! I caught a Virus and Dr. Web got rid of it as well as some trojan downloaders that Malwarebytes killed.
The virus ruined my Avast as well as Google Chrome - so I installed Avira and Zone Alarm Firewall as well as ZA Forcefield browser. Avira continues to tell me I have a virus and quarantines it. I contacted Avira and they say it looks like a Zone Alarm problem - I contacted ZA - and am still waiting - I also uploaded these to Avira to be checked for a false positive and have not heard back from them either.
I was wondering - if I still have a problem or if this is a false positive?

A:HTML/Infected.WebPage.Gen HTML script virus

A common attack against the web infrastructure can be the infection of harmless web pages. Some malware changes every HTML file stored on the disc and adds a link (very often an IFrame) to a site hosting malicious code. Other attacks can aim for the web servers and try to insert forwarding to the pages hosted there. The owner of these pages is advised to take them offline. Fix the hole (either on his own PC or on the server), check the pages for infections, clean them and go online again. Infected Web Pages often contain additional Iframe, Object or Script Tags. The Script Tags often contain encrypted Code.Special detection HTML/Infected.WebPage.GenSince Avira is making the detection and you submitted samples, I suggest you wait on a reply from them or follow up by contacting them again with a reminder.See this Avira link for a discussion of a similar report.

LOL. You know more about AOL than I ever will!

If you have Outlook Express set up your HTML there. You don't have to really know how to code....but it helps.....for the final touches. Almost anything that works in IE works in OE.

Don't use VBscripts. Don't use Javascripts. Don't use sound files or other Embedded Object Types. They won't run in AOL. At least not up to AOL 8. Don't know anything much about AOL 9 yet.

I have just recently changed service providers and now have Outlook Express. When someone sends me an email it looks fine on the screen but when I print, it comes out with <DIV><FONT> face=Arial and all sorts of other stuff among the wording of my received email. In fact a four sentence email can take two pages of paper to print. Is this an HTML issue (not that I know anything about that). Can I configure my emails? This is with all emails not just from a specific person. I have had to copy and paste to notepad to have a short readable email - but it seems odd that i just can't copy the email(with headers) as sen on the screen.

Hi, I think this is possible. I am trying to send an e-mail through gmail that is made up of html. It's a news letter so I want it to show up like a web page in the e-mail, is this possible and how do I do it?

A:Sending an html email

Sure, entirely possible to send HTML emails. Most emails probably are HTML vs text only.
When you click to compose an email at the gmail website, if you are in text only,
right below "attach file" it will say...rich formatting. Click that. If you have things
showing like fonts, text size, bullets, align left, align center, align right, etc...then you are
already in HTML (rich formatting). In that case yours should say Plain Text on the
far right. And there is nothing further to do, except setup your "web page" email.

Now, that you understand that, help me to understand why you can't do what you want
to do? Just that you haven't tried it yet?

If you want to have images, they will have to come from the internet. Copy the picture
and paste it where you want it, in your email.

If there is some particular stumbling block, post the specific and I'll try to answer it.

I have just produced some HTML email stationery for my company, and I just wondered what would happen if I sent the email to someone using a client which didn't support HTML email? If you only see the code, is there a way to make a text version of the same email appear insted?

Thanks a lot,

The most likely scenerio: the tags get stripped and they get a plain text message. Graphics may or may not arrive. If they do arrive, they will be attached.

Depends on what email they use, I am not familiar with all of them but above has been my experience.

I recently got a new computer with a wireless internet connection and started using "Windows Email" provided by Vista. I also have my AOL browser on this computer. My problem is: I have buttons, created with Xara MenuMaker 1.1 and am using the (mailto:[email protected]) and with the AOL mailer I can push on the button and a window pops up with the addressee in it ready to compose a letter. My problem is: when I try to use the Windows Internet Explorer with the program and push the button that says (mailto:[email protected]) I get the error message stating that my default mailer is not set up properly. How do I set up the default mailer so that it will automatically do what the AOL mailer will?

Hi all,

I am now using Microsoft Outlook 2002 SP2 with Window XP. I have a small question. How could I make an option for all my outgoing mails (or both incoming and outgoing mails) to be in HTML type?

I hate the type of Plain Text. Sometimes I receive plain text emails and when I press reply button, my replying email is in plain text type also. Now I wonder how I could change the option of MO 2002 so that when I press reply, then my email is always in HTML type no matter the type of the original mail is in.

Thank you

A:Email type - HTML

That's an option under tools if I remember right. One thing to keep in mind, if you reply to a plain text message to a person who only receives plain text they get all the html tags that go along with the format of html.

I want to send a little promo to my clients--I'm a photographer--with a few paragraphs of text, some small sample images, and a graphic header and footer. I formatted the content as an HTML page, but I cannot figure out how to send it so that it appears the same way on the receiving end. I've read about using "Insert text from file" in Outlook and changing the MIME type, but I guess I'm not doing it right because I just get HTML code on the other end. Do I need an e-newsletter service to do this, or can't I just do it from Outlook?

When a html email is sent there needs to be a link in the message so the receiver can click on this link and a return email will be returned with the receivor's email address in the subject line.

I have everything working OK except, what must be done to have the receivers email address printed in the subject line?

Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks.
