Q: Ideapad S415 Touch - touch screen stopped working

My Ideapad S415 touch screen has suddenly stopped working. I've had a tech connect to my PC and try a BIOS reload of default settings, plus unistalling all "HID" devices in Device Manager with no resolution. I've also tried a system restore with no luck. The system properties does see the touch capability. Suggestions? Thanks.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

First do a Power Drain
(If the battery is removable)
Remove AC and Battery and hold the power button down for 15 sec.
Turn the computer back on and see if the Touch capability is now detected under System Properties,
If not
I suggest you contact Lenovo Technical Team about the Issue as this may be a device detection issue.

In the first week with my Y700, sometimes, when the pc started, the touch screen just didn`t work and i had to reboot in order to use this functionality. Now, there`s nothing i can do to use the touch, it`s like the computer never had a touchscreen.Looking in device manager i haven`t found anything related to the touch interface but there is a " Unknow USB Device" in Universal Serial Bus controllers tab.What shall i do?

I upgraded to 8.1 and Pen and Touch or the touch screen is unresponsive I have tried draining battery and reboot for device detection. I have gone in to device manager and deleted HID compliant-touch screen driver and then all the HID drivers. If I go into control panel and open Pen and Touch to enable finger input option under "touch action" Equivalent Mouse action no "finger input option" is there to apply? Under system properties I can see Pen and Touch: Full Windows Touch Support with 10 Touch Points is there. I have gone to Lenovo's support and downloaded all the drivers and firmware and BIOS update as well.
I also tried to reistall to factory settings with one touch but it did not work in 8 either I have since upgraded again to 8.1 and done all the updates for windows 8.1.
 
Any Help would be greatly appreciated

Have the AC adapter unplugged
Remove the battery
Hold down the power button for 10sec.
Reconnect Battery and plug in the AC
Turn on the computer and check if the touch will no respond

My laptop automatically updated in Sept./Oct. It took about an hour and had multiple restarts, so I am assuming it was a Windows 10 update. I am not 100% sure though. Hello everyone, my touch screen on my lenovo ideapad z400 touch is not working anymore.  The only weird thing I remember is some ghost touchpoint on my screen. I've been looking for the answer to this issue, but it seems that Lenovo does not address this problem.  If someone has found the solution to this problem and wants to share it with me, I will be forever grateful.

Please perform the below steps:
 

Press Windows + X
Select Device Manager.
Find the Touch screen driver under Mice and Other Pointing Devices > USB Touchscreen Controller (A111).  You're going to uninstall this and check the box that says "Delete the driver software for this device".
Restart your computer.
Re-pen the Device Manager, and confirm that the Touchscreen is now listed under Human Interface Devices.

Hey All!!So my touchscreen stopped working randomly and I tried updating my drivers. Windows said that the drivers were already update...sooo I was good on that frnt. I left my computer for a bit and now I am currently running Windows 10 and I just recently disabled the touch screen foloowed by a restart of my laptop then I enabled the touchscreen to no avail. The touchscreen is still not working. Any advice on what I should try next would e greatly appreciated.  Thanks!Tiff

I have Ideapad Flex 14 Ideapad S100 with Windows 10 having latest updates. A few days ago I had realized that thouch screen doesn't work any more. After consultation with Lenovo Turkey, which was insisting on recovery, I recovered my ideapad turning back to an image taken by Win10 two months ago. This step did not help. Some how next day after recovery in the morning it worked only for a few hours then stopped working again. I tried to disable and enable the "HID-compliant device" or other relaten USB items and reinstalled/activated, it did not help.I hope it is a software/driver failure and this problem will be solved soon by Lenovo.

Hi friends,New to the forum, and I'm hoping someone has a solution for me. I have been having an issue with my touchscreen... it doesn't respond at all. It had been working, and while I don't know exactly when it stopped, it's not working now. My touch screen stopped working about a year after I bought this computer. Right before it stopped working completely random items started opening on the computer as if there was a phantom clicking on things. I thought it was a virus but none was ever found by many anti-virus scans and nothing else in the computer was harmed. My HP Pavillion laptop touch screen stopped working several months ago and I have not been able to fix it. I have gone into the device manager as I have seen on other forums and my touch screen didnt even show up under human interfacing.   Hi @natalia1818, Welcome to the HP Support Community! I read from your posts that you are having an issue with your HP Pavilion 11x360 PC Notebook and the Touchscreen not working correctly. You might need to check that the Touchscreen is enabled on the Notebook. Here is a listing on how to do that: Press the Windows logo key + X.Select Device Manager from the list.Click the little arrow next to Human Interface Devices to expand the list.Click the touch screen driverRight-click, and select enable from the list.Confirm you want to enable. You can do a system restore. System restore will help if something automatically updated and did not go well on the Notebook. I suggest at least 4 days ago as it will make sure to catch what changed the settings. When performing a System restore please note remove any and all USB devices. Disconnect all non-essential devices as they can cause issues. Please let me know how this goes. If this post helps you to resolve the issue you can click the Thumbs up icon to show gratitude! Thanks.

I have had this system for around 3 weeks, and today the touch screen just stopped working for no apparent reason.
I have barely used the system since I received it (have been away), and so it is very unlikely it is due to anything I have done (I've installed virtually nothing except Microsoft Office).
I am reluctant to go fiddling with BIOS drivers, etc, given the repercussions that has had for some people elsewhere on this forum.
Any ideas please?
(I must admit I am disappointed to be having numerous issues in a top of the range computer at a premium price.)

I've had nothing but problems since my computer updated to windows 10, sadly I missed deadline to go back to windows 8.1. The touch screen barely worked after the update and has stopped working all together now. I've tried all trouble shooting suggested. After trouble shooting tried to call for support only to find out I'd have to pay because my computer is over 12 months old.

The touchscreen stopped working suddenly on my Envy TouchSmart Sleekbook 4-1115dx. At first i though it was like a normal failure and that will get fixed by turning the pc off or restarting so I did not pay attention to it until now that I had restart my pc multiple times. Currently running win10. I started to believe it was because of an update a few days ago since it was when the problem started but all drivers and everything is up to date. I have checked for the HID-compliant Touch Screen driver and had to  show hidden divices in order to find it. I cannot enable it and when i check in the properties the following message displays: "Currently, this hardware device is not connected to the computer. (Code 45)To fix this problem, reconnect this hardware device to the computer." I have no idea on how to connect or how it got disconnected. I come from a similar thread but did not solve my problem. I have been researching this for hours and have not found and answer. Help please!

So my pavilion was a gift back in August 2015 and about a month later the touchscreen stoped working at first I thught I had turned something off but it wasn't that. I upgraded to windows 10 thinking it would solve any issues but it didn't. Ive tried everything. Also about a two days ago my pc bagan to disconnect from the wifi at random now I know something is wrong. It was purchased at Famsa so i don't really know. I've check the properties and the touch calibration isn't even there. I've kept it clean and has no visible damage.Please I need the touch ability for school and there's no point in having bought a touch screen computer if it doesn't even work properly.

I recently purchased a new HP Pavilion x360 with touchscreen (approximately two weeks ago). The touch screen stopped working. Root causes may be plugging in with HDMI into TV or switching to tablet mode. Under hardware and software in the control panel, I only have the following options: devices and printers,autoplay, sound, power options, display (make text smaller/larger, adjust screen resolution, how to correct monitor flicker), windows mobility center, intel graphic settings, HPCoolSEnse, Energy STAR, Interl Rapid STorage Technology, Synaptics Clickpad, and B&O audio control. I have tried everything I can find online, yet nothing has fixed the problem.

The touch screen does not require any special Toshiba drivers.
The driver is already part of the Windows 8 / 8.1
Therefore I don?t think there is some software problem but of course, I would recommend you to recover the notebook back to factory settings using the Toshiba recovery disk just to check if this procedure would enable the touch screen functionality once again.

This is an first common procedure in case something wrong would happen to the notebook or the system.

But if system recovery doesn?t help, the notebook needs to be checked by authorized service provider for possible hardware malfunction. But let?s hope, the recovery procedure would solve your problem.

I bought Dell Inspiron 13 5368 2-in-1 a few months ago, the laptop was one of my favorite laptops ever, hence, I was using it heavily.
Sadly, the touchscreen stopped working suddenly without obvious reasons. Everything else is normal. I checked the screen or the laptop for any possible physical damage but I could not find anything. the screen is working totally fine but the touchscreen functionality is dead.
I reinstalled the device drivers without success. I have also checked the power management options and did the diagnostics.
I don't prefer to send the laptop back to dell because all my applications and files are in this laptop. 
Could you help me out find the problem, its driving me nuts :/

You have really two options:  replace the screen at your cost by yourself, or use the warranty and have Dell do the replacement.

I even did a restoration of the whole computer and the touch screen hasn't started working. I started having issues when I checked into the Device Manager and noticed that under Human Interface Devices the HID Touch screen (along with a few under it) were marked as "hidden". When I did the restore I thought it would fix the problem but it only seemed to completely get rid of it?
Instead of it being marked as hidden the only things I have under Human Interface Devices is the two options for Airplane Mode Switch. 

There is no touch so Calibrate isn't effective
The pen and touch option keeps saying it is unavailable
Turning it off and on doesn't work

My touch screen as stopped working. It was working fine, screen went to sleep and when I woke it up the touch screen had stopped working. Not sure if I may have push or touched something to lock or deactivate the touch screen?

There is a function key to lock the touch pad (mouse pad) on the keyboard but nothing obvious for the screen.

Try the steps below and let us know if issue persists.
1. "Press Windows" key +"C" to select the search option
2. In the search box type "Device Manager" and click on it.
3. Select the "Human Interface Devices", in that right click on "HID-compliant touch screen" and select "Uninstall"
4. It will display the warning message "you are about to uninstall this device from your system" click ok
5. Restart your computer and the driver should install on its own.
Check for the functionality and let me know if issue persists.

My touch screen stopped working about 2 months ago after an update and it came back then stopped again. I chechd for testing it in UFEI Bios and it is not listed. How can I get the correct bios and there are no drivers to update, the hid-touch screen driver says it fine.  Its been working fine for 2 years. Could the bios been changed?I downloaded the UFei bios that was on your site but it still didn't show up there. I tried a setup in windows but touch screen isn't working to calibrate.

First of all I was running Windows 8 everything was fine. Upgraded to Windows 8.1 everything was good at first. Months after doing so my touch screen started acting up. It would only work when I position the screen a certain way. So I stopped messing with it because I thought it was a wiring problem inside the computer. I would fix it later, And then sadly I upgraded to Windows 10. I noticed shortly after there was no touch screen options at all. It says there is no Pen and Touch. Today it was listed in the control panel so I started messing with it. Drivers were there all up to date. They said the Device did not migrate. It was 2 or 3 drivers listed for the touch screen and they all said the same thing. After a restart they were no longer in the device manager and no options in the control panel anymore. Please help me figure this out... Thank you.

What's the model name and complete model number of that Toshiba?
(2 sets of characters separated by a dash comprise the complete model number)

If that Toshiba wasn't tested for and doesn't provide driver support for Windows 10, you can expect some of its devices not to work properly or not work at all.

Hello! I'm hoping someone here might be able to help me. I'm running on Windows 8.1. Tonight, certain keys on my keyboard stopped working. These are the: 5, 6, F1, F2, +/=, -/_, home and end keys. The touchsceen keyboard still works, and an extenal keyboard plugged in also works. I have already tried uninstalling the driver and there are no updates available. Prior to this happening, I did have a brief glitch where the number 6 kept slipping in randomly while I typed. I assumed it to be stuck, but, well...now it isn't working at all. Could it be a physical issue with the keyboard? These are pretty random keys to go out all at once.  Thanks very much!

Hello Lenovo,I'm a business management student from India.I purchased Lenovo Ideapad U310 Touch model this May from the US (through Amazon) and have been using it without any issues till the last month. Last month I noticed that the hinge had developed tension and there was additional pressure on the lid or the screen area while closing. I thought it would be a routine issue and took it to my college's hardware repair center, but they suggested I handle the issue via Lenovo Support as it required opening the laptop.When I checked Lenovo support through customer care (India), I was told that the U series is not covered by International warranty. But I checked if the Lenovo service center would still have a look at the issue, to which I was told that it would be chargeable. I thought it was fair enough and took the laptop to the service center in Jamshedpur this afternoon.To my utter disappointment, the technician was unable to open up the area near the screen (where the problem was supposedly), but he also got the screen cracked while trying to. Now I'm left with a laptop that cannot be used as even though the screen display is intact, the touch sensors detect screen touch near the cracked area and keep the cursor rooted to that point. Also, the issue with the hinge could also not be fixed. All to add to the woes, I will have to manage a few days (don't know how many) without a laptop and also shell out the expense from my pocket!Now my question is, will the screen for Ideapad... I?m sorry to hear about the situation that you are facing regarding U310 touch Laptop, as it is ultra book Touch model displays can only replaced by the same kind and not the normal one, as Laptop was purchased in other country and international warranty is not applicable in India for this model, the parts will be ordered from the region of manufacture if the part is not available.
 
I'm sorry to inform you that the only option available to get the same type display replaced on a chargeable basis.

Hi all, I purchased my U530 Touch laptop in January of 2015, then about a year later I had the infamous "broken hinge" issue that a lot of these laptops seem to suffer from. I sent it in to Lenovo and had it fixed though, and haven't had any other issue with it until now. The problem I am now experiencing is a very noticable flickering that moves from the bottom to the top of the screen. Changing the refresh rate only seems to change the rate at which the flickering moves. I noticed that the glossy black portion of the hinge seemed to have a slighly loose feel, and saw the screen flickering issue go away when I pressed into the hinge in the right place. You can feel and hear the plastic moving when pressing into the hinge. If you fiddle with it enough you can get it to a state where the screen doesn't flicker, but it's not an ideal solution. If the laptop gets even slightly bumped or moved, the flickering will come back. Any help with this issue would be much appreciated.

Hi Lenovo Forum, Yesterday when I started my computer it showed the lenovo splash screen and the screen then turned black and nothing happened. I tried restarting the computer etc. but nothing seemed to help, so I decided to do a complete reinstall of Windows 10. Everything went fine until Windows Update installed the IntelŪ HD Graphics 4400 driver. About 80 % into the insatllation it plays the windows sound of something getting unplugged and the screen turned black (like before the complete reinstalllation and format). I have been able to get into the computer again by forcing it to shutdown and turn it on in safe-mode and disable the IntelŪ HD Graphics 4400 driver. I have tried to install an older version of the driver but it did not help.Therefore I am asking all of you if you have experiened anything like it and if you have a solution? Best regards,Rasmus Villebro
