I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I have an HP A6530f with AMD Phenom X3 8450 Triple-Core Processor, 4gigs of PC2-6400 DDR2 SDRAM memory, and a 640GB 7200RPM SATA hard drive. It also has an available pci-e slot, which is good because it comes with some crappy integrated card.

After shopping a bit I found that the Nvidia 8800GT seems to be a good deal for the 100 or so it costs. Thing is, I'm not sure if I NEED to drop another 100+ on a quality PSU, cause it may be that my stock PSU can handle it.

Is there any danger in trying the card before I buy a PSU? Is it obvious that it won't work? If I need a PSU, how many amps should I get on the 12v rails, and what is a good model to look for to satisfy my needs. I have no problem dropping real money for quality over quantity of watts, I just have no idea which companies are good.

I remember the older days, where you didn't need to consider a new PSU unless you were trying to build a server or something...

BTW: New to the forums!

A:Will the Nvidia 8800GT run on a stock PSU

I'm running a stock Acer with 3 hard drives, an optic drive and an 8800GT on a 300 watt PS. Normally I'd say such a setup may not be able to handle the spin up but it just keeps truckin'.

So what I do is try it, then if it works, it doesn't cost me anything extra.

Otherwise PC Power and Cooling is one of the best if not thee. (http://www.pcpower.com/products/power_supplies/ultra-quiet/)

Trying to upgrade from integrated graphics on my Vostro 460 so my son can occasionally play some medium requirement games when he spends afternoons at my shop after school, but don't want to upgrade the 350w PSU or spend too much on the card itself. Will the GTX 750 ti work, and can anyone recommend a good card version? Also, someone suggested I wait until the GTX 1050 comes out in October. Doesn't look like it will draw much more power, but I am not an expert at these things.

A:NVIDIA GTX 750 ti or GTX 1050 in stock Vostro 460?

GTX 1050 Features GP107 GPU – 768 Cores, 4 GB VRAM and 75W TDP
This seems like a re badged 750TI.
GTX 950 has the same 768 cores but needs more power and its 33 percent faster than 750TI.
RX460 is a 75W card.

I have a Dell 4700 and do not have very many components installed (just the basics), and I was planning to add an eVGA 7600gt graphics card. However my Dell 4700 Power Supply only has 305w, but has dual 18amp rails (at least I am pretty sure it does, heres the specs: http://support.dell.com/support/edocs/systems/dim4700/sm/techov.htm#wp1053452).

Do you think that the card will run ok on this PSU? Also, has anyone here tried what I am describing? Thanks

A:Trying to figure out if I can run an Nvidia 7600gt on a stock Dell 4700 PSU

Probably. It has good amps, but the wattage is a little low.

Maybe a 400W PSU from Antec, FSP Group, Enermax and OCZ will provide a stable and safe operation.

hi all im just wondering what you guys would recommend a 7600gt XFX or a
X1800GTO or any above the GTO im not sure which one is better for the games i play i was thinking of radeon beause of HDR lighting i think its called i play games such as half life 2 counter strike source F.E.A.R. so any ideas or recommandations would be greatly apprecieated

A:nvidia 7600gt xfx vs X1800gto or any models above the x1800gto? which one is better?

If you can cough up the extra $10-$20 dollars (you're from America right) the general consensus seems to be from what I've read that the x1800 gto is the better card. Plus, another member, Rage_3k_moiz, often mentions that you can unlock more pixel pipelines on the x1800 gto, making it as good as a x1800 xl card, which is cool. I saw this one here GeCube x1800gto or if you want to go open box
sapphire x1800gto
Hope this helps.

A friend bought a 3400+, which is running at 2.4GHz, with the bios being reset to defaults. The CPU is ment to run at 2.2GHz, stock. The FSB is 200, which is also what they say it is in reviews, so thats correct.

11x200 = 2.2GHz
But the multi is at 12x, so its
12x200 = 2.4GHz

This info is all coursity of WCPUID, so I believe its gotta be accurate. Any ideas as to why this isnt running at 2.2GHz?

So its essentially a 3700+ minus the 512kb of L2 cache.

Thanks in advance for any ideas/clues/comments.

A:A64 3400+ Not running at Stock Speeds /w Stock Settings

The 3400+ is meant to run at 2.4GHz & has 512KB of L2 cache. The 3400+ which ran at 2.2GHz had 1024KB of L2 cache & is of the older core. Everything is fine.

Hey guys,

I've got a brand new core 2 duo stock cooler from my old PC, and it seems much better than the stock cooler I got on my i5: cooper base, twice as much heat sink and pretty much the same fan. I was wondering if it would work better on the i5 than the tiny little I think I got along with it. Place your opinions, I'll test it this afternoon and post the results.

Eh, how embarrassing, the 775 cooler doesn't fit on the 1156 socket.

Most so-called Topseller models are not available anywhere. Why? Online vendors seem to have an abundance of only three P50 models, while one or two of a very few others trickle in sporadically, most not at all. Is this the way Lenovo releases these machines now? It used to be that models announced near the end of a calendar year would be stocked everywhere in great numbers by early spring, often at very good prices. Maybe having so many problems has held them back.

When do the new models (P50-C) become available?
Or is there a suitable alternative maybe?

We have to update our image every so often and with having to update for 5 different PC's it becomes quite time consuming. Having one master drive would be much more efficient.

I noticed with our recent purchase of a thinkpad x280 that there are no RAM slots anymore, the RAM is fixed onto the motherboard. A:Are all T61 models equal

All T61 machines are 64 bit and can run a 64-bit OS.  There is no such thing as 32 bit -> 64-bit upgrade.  It needs a fresh install.  The same license is good for both, but you would need recovery disks.  T61 machines are not all the same:  14.1: tall-screen (4:3), 14.1" wide-screen and 15.4" wide screen.  There are difficulties in getting a fresh win 7 install working, related to system update.  Microsoft has not paid much attention to windows 7.

Howdy folks.

Does anyone know of a good method for this?

I work with a lot of .cgr files. (CATIA Graphic) It is my understanding that this is a triangulated surface representation of a modeled CatPart or CatProduct. I would really like to be able to export the shell into AutoCAD.

Right now, the way I go about this is exporting the cgr as a .wrl then opening that in Spacevision and converting it to a .spv file. This spv is similar to a cgr. With the spv(or wrl) open in Spacevision, we then take a screenshot of the model and import that into ACAD and manually trace the outline. This is a slow, tedious, and inaccurate process. But it's the best way we know of right now.

Another issue is that Spacevision has a limited size of wrl that it can open. When a cgr is converted to a wrl it gets much larger. A lot of the larger wrls (over 500MB) refuse to open in SV as it says it runs out of memory, even if the PC has 24 or 32 GB installed. The size issue wouldn't be that big of a deal of I could go about it another way.

We have a program that was written to convert a section cut in SV into a drawing in ACAD. It takes the hpgl file and plots it into a CAD drawing using a script. The program and script were written by my company. But I guess the programmes couldn't figure this out. Idk.

If anyone has experience with CATIA or Spacevision, or converting models from CATIA to AutoCAD. I'd love to discuss this. I can get from Solidworks to ACAD and I can get the wrl t... Read more

This seems to be a topic that is beating a dead horse, but I have yet to find a definite answer, so forgive me.I am currently on the market for a Yoga,  and it's come down to the Yoga Pro 2 vs the ThinkPad Yoga. I have found a model which seems to suit all my needs but I am unsure if it has a digitizer which supports the pen. From what I have read, it doesn't include the pen, but some sources say you can buy a pen and use it on the screen while others just do not mention it. The model in question is: S1 12.5" with the i5 and 500GB HDD and 16GB SDD. Model #  20CD00CHUS. Beyond this, is there an easy rule of thumb to see which TPY have the digitizer? Thanks, and sorry agan for the overly redundant question.

Go to Solution.

A:Which TPY models have digitizer support?

Good day and welcome to the community.
Searching for that MT-M on the support site yields:
ThinkPad Yoga 20CD00CHUS
i5-4200U(2.6GHz), 4GB RAM, 500GB 7200rpm HD, 11.6in 1366x768 LCD, Wireless Option, Bluetooth, Intel HD Graphics, UltraNav, Secure Chip, 8c Li-Poly, Win8 Pro 64
IIRC, no 1366x768 LCD models were equipped with a digitizer. That was an option only with the FHD panels.
Looking at the PSREF: http://psref.lenovo.com/Product/91 bears this out. A quick scan of the table show the 1366x768 models as multitouch, but without digitizer pen support. The specific model above is down near the bottom of the listing.
Hope this helps.

HP's product coding is just not very transparent but it is very possible laptops with the same specs have multiple product numbers depending on distribution channel. I am sure John Lewis and PC World is each big enough to receive dedicated model numbers from HP. I have scoured the spec lists for you on both these laptops and as far as I can ascertain, they are identical: same processor, memory, solid state drive, wireless card, screen resolution. Functionally I can see no difference.

Regarding a new 1 TB External HD.

There seem to be a zillion different reliability surveys out there.
You folks are the real experts, so let me ask here:

Is there any consensous as to which Brand and Model is considered "the best" regarding reliability for
an external 1 TB (or 1.5 TB perhaps) HD.

Really confusing knowing which to get.

My Seagate, with very minimal use, lasted only about 3 yrs.
Was only used for backing up, (once every week or two) and unplugged the rest of the time.
Quite disappointing.

A:HD: Reliability Of Different Brands/Models ?

Yep, I have had bad luck with the last 2 Seagates I have bought, one was a 2TB and the other 3TB. The 2TB lasted about 14 months, the 3TB (both only used as a backup) only lasted about 8 months, then fried itself, yet I have 2 WD 1TB that have lasted with no probs for 3-4 years, and 1 has games installed on it.

Next week I am buying 2 new HDD's both WD a 3TB & 4TB, then 2 weeks later a Samsung 120GB 850 Evo, for my windows drive as I only use about 75GB as it is, all my other stuff is on other drives.

So, there I was... on my bench, with the M90z I'd bought for 8 cents on the dollar on eBay, all chuffed with myself.I installed all the drivers.  But I couldn't find *any* touchscreen drivers on lenovo's website, or anywhere else, for the 5205a25 I had in front of me. And it was then, and only then, that the implications of the matte LCD screen sunk through to me: even this i5-650 model -- the second fastest processor they sold with it -- must have been available without the touchscreen... and that must be what I got.<sigh>The touchscreen is mission critical to me, even if it costs me more. But *none* of the secondary market sellers seem to even address the topic.  And so this leads me to this forum, and this question: Is there, anywhere, a complete list of all the M90z 7-digit machine type codes, and which ones came factory equipped with a touchscreen?  CTO isn't an issue to me; unless the ad says touchscreen, I won't gamble.I have the M90z service manual, but it does not say.(To be clear here, I'm looking for a Lenovo-source document; the action cycle is too long to gamble on this more than once...)

Hi folks

Would need your opinions on memory compatibility.

I have two sets of DDR3 memory. 2 x 4 Gb in each case. One set of Ares and one set of Ripjaws. Here is the link that compares the two. Except for the heat spreader, they look identical to me. Same manufacturer, same Cas latency, same timings. Only the model is different. Under the heat spreader, they must be identical chips.

Right now, the Ripjaws are used. Ares still in the box.

My question is: Can I use both in my system (mobo: Gigabyte H97-D3H) without any problem for a total of 16 Gb insted of 8 Gb? I would not want to damage anything.

Hello, I work for an engineering company and I was wondering if anybody has any experience with NX. I saw a guy post something about catia so I assume somebody might be familiar with it. It is popular CAD software used by major engineering companies. Anyway, I am looking to design a customized feature for the program. However I am not quite sure how to approach it.
CAD models usually contain information or can be analyzed to produce information that can be used to make informed decisions by engineers. Information such as volume, surface area, weight, length, height etc. I am looking to design a simulator that can take CAD models and produce results and information based on the simulation.
I will give you an example; lets say I have a CAD model of Boeing 747, and I want to know how exactly how much speed it takes to create enough lift to get the plane off the run way in it's current condition. Now the models contain all the properties needed for the simulator to know how heavy that plane is, and how the weight is displaced among the structure (centers of gravity).
Now that was just an example, I am not running a simulator on a plane.
However my first thought is this:
CAD models (particularly in NX) are resource intensive, and unlike the render engine in your favorite game engine where occlusion culling takes place, in NX and CAD software in general the way it renders geometry isn't meant to save on your PC's resources. Even on a high end rig with the... Read more

i can go buy an oem 8.1 software for about 140$ that i understand is only good for 1 pc.
any insight on how this works??

A:windows 8.1 pricing models

What did you upgrade from?

How did you manage to upgrade without buying a license beforehand?

If you were already running win 8.0 , there should be no charge, it is an update/service pack.
