I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hi....... I am hoping that someone may be able to pint me in the right direction.   I have an old IBM Thinkcentre..... I am not sure which exact model it is.  Used to use it in my home office, but moved it out to the entertainment center ages ago and basically use it as a "jukebox" that I have stored all my music into and feed my audio system.  I run nothing else, and it worked fine doing this for years.  Anyway, with a recent update in iTunes, I now am experiencing issues playing back music, as I never have before.   I populated the main board with 4GB of RAM, but when I check in system information...... although it states 4GB installed, it only chows 2.25GB in "total physical memory". I have tried everything I could to increase performance of the resources I have..... disabled what was unnecessary and turned off everything that does not absolutely need to run in the background, but have only improved things a bit.  In doing some research, it was suggested that a  BIOS update "may" allow me to go beyond the RAM limitations of my system.  I figured I would try this out before bagging it and just investing in a new computer. Anyway, I have attached a snapshot of my system configuration.  Can anyone help me find a later version of BIOS?  I have tried searching for it myself, but everything points me back to the Lenovo site, were I cannot find anything.  When I plug in my serial number, it does not find a... I was updating the BIOS for my M910x Tiny via system update, the program just started then suddenly some system notification popped up and my mouse wouldn't move, as the BIOS upgrade window under Windows 10 also seemed frozen. I know it was my fault that I didn't wait long enough but just pressed the power button to shut down the machine, so when I power it up again I can only hear repeatedly 2 short beeps and the system couldn't boot anymore. So is there any solution I can fix the BIOS? I've seen the Clear CMOS/Recovery jumper method on other model, but not sure what is the correct procedure on M910x yet. Thanks for any help!

Got an M93 with Win 10. Lenovo solution center asks to do upgrades on BIOS and a bunch of drivers. Did that, and now I can't boot the computer.

Tried pressing F1 after pressing start button, no help. Can't enter BIOS, still stuck at lenovo screen. Also tried Ctrl+Alt+Del on that screen, blacks out then stuck at lenovo screen again.

Please help and inform, thanks!!!

I would try resetting the BIOS using the jumper, or by taking out the CMOS battery, wait a minute or two, and then replace it and try booting up. See page 73 of the Hardware Maintenance Manaul linked below for location of the Clear CMOS/Recovery jumper (# 20) https://download.lenovo.com/pccbbs/thinkcentre_pdf/m83m93p_hmm.pdf Clearing the CMOS (BIOS)1. Remove all media from the drives and turn off all attached devices and the computer. Then, disconnect all power cords from electrical outlets and disconnect all cables that are connected to the computer. 2. Remove the computer cover. 3. Locate the Clear CMOS /Recovery jumper on the system board. 4. Move the jumper from the standard position (pin 1 and pin 2) to the maintenance position (pin 2 and pin 3). 5. Reinstall the computer cover and connect the power cord. 6. Turn on the computer and leave it on for approximately 10 seconds. Then, turn off the computer by holding the power switch for approximately five seconds. 7. Repeat step 1 through step 2. 8. Move the Clear CMOS /Recovery jumper back to the standard position (pin 1 and pin 2). 9. Reinstall the computer cover and connect the power cord. Good Luck,

Hello,

I'm currently looking for a way to change all of our Laptop & Workstation (Approx 250+ machines) BIOS passwords using a remote tool if possible. The majority of laptops are Latitude and the workstations OptiPlex although most of the laptops have BitLocker activated.
We also use Empirum software to push out software if this would be of any help.

I have been looking around and into using the Dell Client Configuration Utility and also the OpenManage tool although I'm not too sure if they would work for us due to us using BitLocker.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Whilst I could do them all manually, this will take a significant amount of time.I looked at the Lenovo BIOS Config Tool, but this doesn't seem to apply settings from the config files to any of the several machine models I tried.I then went to look at the Windows BIOS Setting tool. The first tool; SRWIN.exe (& x64 version) errors out with the followingStartService Error: 5

Hello,

I have some strong IT Background and had a career in the IT Field installing networks for the past 3 years.  That being said this problem has me completely stumped and I have no clue how to reconfigure this machine back to normal.

It appears that the Virus or Malware is embedded within the high ram.  Performing memory dumps, pulling the RAM and CMOS for 24 - 36 hours,  has yielded no different results.  I have tried the following in addition:

Mem Wipe software utilities
Reinstall Windows via Windows 7 Home Disk (purchased from a retail store)
Reinstall Windows via USB Drive containing Windows 7 Pro
Reinstall Windows from a completely different image created using Norton Ghost (base image was Sysprep for any random machine)
Reinstall Windows from another unique image created with Acronis (base image was also sysprepped for any machine)
Used Motherboard CD to reinstall drivers each time.
Machine has Norton 360 on it.
Used WipeDrive CD to clear HD of all data and attempted to reinstall windows.

The last bit of info - What I am experiencing on this machine is also affected any device plugged into my network.  I have a kindle (HD 7), windows phone (Nokia Lumi 1020), and 3 Windows Desktops.
These all show the same symptoms.

Hi there, I recently bought a Lenovo Thinkcentre E73 SFF, which had Windows 10 installed in it. I decided that I wanted to installed Windows 7 instead of using Windows 10. I decided to go into the BIOS to change the boot priority so that my Windows 7 installation drive had priority over the pre-existing boot drive. In the process, I also recall disabling "Fast Boot", as the PC kept skipping the post screen every time I booted up. It continued to do that even when I was in Windows 10, but I've now got Windows 7 installed, but I cannot find any way to access the BIOS of the motherboard. Can anybody advise on how I'd go about getting into the motherboard BIOS? TLDR - I've installed Windows 7 in place of Windows 10, but I cannot get into the BIOS as the computer is forever skipping the post screen on bootup. Does anybody know about how I'd be able to get into the motherboard BIOS? Thanks in advance!P.S. I wish you all a Merry Christmas!!!

The problem is their BIOS. It was upgradet to 2016 version and the problem we experience is that whenever we put a GPU in any of the 2 included PCIE ports - it starts, but fails to boot. So I have a few questions about this PC I acquired recently, still being somewhat of a newbie to the building/modifying PC world. Hello there, I have (for the first time) a problem with my Lenovo ThinkCentre E73. I recently updated the BIOS (it was one of the initial versions and had some issues) to the latest version. I use a KVM (Keyboard Video Mouse) switch. This KVM switch has some USB inputs (for keyboard, mouse, USB stick or whatever) and the USB part is based on a (switchable) USB HUB. But when i connect my USB keyboard to this HUB, the Lenovo BIOS doesn't recognize it (keyboard does'nt work, and the Lenovo shows error 0211, no keyboard connected. The KVM itself isn't faulty, in Windows everything worked fine. Also the previous used BIOS version has no problems with the KVM and works fine also. There where no changes made in the hardware setup. When i plug my keyboard directly into the Lenovo the BIOS recognized it. When i use a simple (non powered) USB hub and plug my keyboard in, the BIOS doesn't detect is again. So it looks like the new BIOS has some issues with USB hubs. Not only my keyboard would be detected, also USB memory sticks are not visible by the boot manager. Can anybody help me, or can Lenovo made a change to the new BIOS version so i can use my KVM again into the BIOS? Thank you!

I have a ThinkCentre E63z 10D4 model all-in-one.  I attempted to update the BIOS using the Flash UEFI BIOS update (Flash from operating system version).  This seems to have failed spectacularly, as the computer will no longer boot.  It will power on, show the Lenovo splash screen, go to a black screen, then reboot endlessly like this.  I have tried following every guide there is to recover this thing.  I have tried making a USB disk and booting from it, but it seems that USB devices aren't even being initialized during POST.  No lights come on the keyboard at all, and no input seems to work.  I have tried F1, F2, F12, holding down the function key while trying these, and absolutely nothing changes.  I got so desperate that I pulled a CD drive out of another computer and held the thing together with it plugged into the HDD SATA connector on the main board - no dice there either.  Won't even spin up the disk. What am I doing wrong?  How can I recover the BIOS on this thing?  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Dear Lenovo ThinkCentre Team, please let me share my deep frustration about you inability to provide a proper Firmware Update routine, even after several years into the Windows 10 era. How hard can it be to sign your filter drivers with valid certificates that did not expire 2 years ago with an obsolete SHA1 routine? You might think that those certificates don't matter, but yes they do, if you have HVCI and credential guard activated. In this case you will be unable to install the firmware update and if you are really lucky you will also get a nice blue screen as reward. Funny enough, you have already a working solution. The firmware updates published in the Microsoft Update Catalog. Unfortuantely they are all outdated. Ok, thank you for listening to my pre-weekend rant ... and get your act together! Peter

I was trying to resolve the famous problem about the ACPI where the workstation will not power off after system shutdown procedure. I tried flashing again the BIOS but something goes wrong and system got frozen. So I powered off the machine and it never boot up again. I read about some procedure to flash again BIOS when that is already corrupted. I tried burning the iso on a cd and playing with Clear CMOS jumper. Nothing happened. Do someone know how it works for that model? That machina have only cd reader, sd reader and usb ports. So not floppy reader like guides for other models says.

Good Afternoon, I have about 300 of the ThinkCentre M710q coming my way and I have been trying to setup an automated process to update the BIOS as well as import BIOS settings.  These machines are being setup with Win7 Enterprise and will Legacy PXE boot. So far I am able to update the bios without an issue.  However I am not able to apply settings to the BIOS using the CFGWIN tool.  I am able to capture the settings, but upon restoring them I recieve the error: Restore Failed:  "Secure Boot,Disabled;[Optionalisabled,Enabled;". (MFGDone Set but Password not input or error) These are fresh machines out of the box with no passwords set for the BIOS.  They also have had their BIOS updated to the most current version. Has anyone else ran into this?  I also tried doing the same thing using the SRWIN.exe utility to export to a dat file, an I get the error: The input password is not correct.Return Code 40000001h Please let me know if you have run into this and perhaps found a solution/work around. Thank you!Michael

What is the cheapest 300W+ PSU that will fit in this machine? I want a gpu but that 240W PSU won't cut it. EDIT: Here is the gpu i am planning on buying. https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814932005&ignorebbr=1

A:Lenovo ThinkCentre M81 PSU Upgrade?

Tower or Small form factor... actually posting your Machine Type Model (MTM) would help. If you have the tower, just about any ATX PSU like this one would work since I believe your motherboard as the standard 24 pin connector, but with that card you might want to wait to see if it even needs a 300w PSU, because it may work just fine with you current PSU unless you have a bunch of HDDs installed etc.. If you want a Lenovo PSU that shipped with the M81, you can get a 280 watt like this one  https://www.amazon.com/Genuine-Lenovo-41A9684-Desktop-PS-5281-7VR/dp/B00R3NPNN6, which should be more than capable of powering your GPU. Best of luck,

Hiya, In my current PC I have an i5 3470, and In the Thinkcentre M91p i have recently purchased, it has an i7 2600, which is a little overkill for what ive purhcased it for, so I was thinking of swapping the cpu's so I have the 2600 in my gaming PC and the Thinkcentre gets the 3470.However I'm not sure if this would work as I have no idea whether the motherboard of the ThinkCentre would accept the new Ivy Bridge chip, and I don't even know if my Asus P8H77-V would accept the 2600?So would this work? and how would I go about doing it? Im a noob at all this im sorry ;(All answers are much appreciated, Ajsski99

Do they they use the same motherboard?Any suggestion? From the base configuration I already upgraded the factory 4GB RAM to 16 GB RAM, replaced the HDD with a SSD model, added a better NVIDIA graphic adapter and updated the OS to Windows 10 64bit. Catalin
