Preferred Solution: Can't configure Wifi Router

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I now need the WIFI connectivity to connect with my phone for browsing net.

For that I connected the Ethernet port of new DSL modem with the old BSNL wifi modem and applied the following configuration.

I changed the IP address of router from 192.168.1.1 to 192.168.1.2

But I get only WIFI connection to connect to phone and not correctly getting the connection on desktop through the ethernet.Sometimes i get the connection and sometimes the connection lost.

I attached some images here.

A:How to configure wifi modem having router with DSL modem ?

Hi there,

On the second router, DHCP needs to be disabled and assign a fixed IP within the router's IP scope (with Wi-Fi capability) i.e. 192.168.1.3 (make sure that 192.168.1.1 to 192.168.1.3 will be in the IP exclusion list).

The easiest way is to run the CD that should have come with the Router, if you havent got it then you will have to configure it manually.

Full instructions can be found on the netgear website here.

Hi,

I recently bought dlink D2750U WIFI ADSL modem/router, for my ADSL internet connection.

But I have now changed my ISP, who provide internet via cable(not telephone line). The ISP guy provides a cable modem(old modem) along with it.

I have connected my PC this way:
Cable modem -> Router -> PC through RJ45. I am able to access internet from my PC, but I am not able to get wifi working on the router. And I am logging onto internet through a dial up connection.
Questions:
1) Please help in configuring the router to get wifi working.
2) Also, my default gateway seems to be either 0.0.0.0 or blank. So, I am not able to login to the modem unless I remove the modem connection. Please let me know if I am doing anything wrong here.

Here are a few more details:
Output of ipconfig: http://pastebin.com/Zr9Eb7L7

A:Using dlink D2750U Wifi Modem/Router As a Wifi Router

Hey Narain. The D-Link unit you have appears to be a combo unit (modem and wireless router) since it connects straight to the RJ-11 phone line. This unit won't work with an ISP that provides service by way of coax cable. The D-Link will work if you want to use DSL, but you need a cable service compatible modem or combo modem/router if you use cable service.

I am having a BSNL(India) broadband connection with modem ZTE ZXDSL 831 AII. I am using a dail up for connecting to net.

Because of this i cannot connect it to my Wifi router Dlink DI 524 .

Previously i had a modem which need to be connected using dail up connection it was always connected i only had to enable or disable it , and could be easily be connected to WiFi.

but eventually using it with WiFi it became kaput ( i dont know y, but the modem started to behave weirdly and could not be connect later ) hence it was replaced by a BSNL technician . and he told that now there is no other solution than to connect the modem using dial up. because of which i cannot use my wifi .

Can nebody please explain me ,what all setting need to be change to use my Wifi with the modem, because i believe if it cud be done before y not now.

please let me know as soon as possible.

A:please help to configure modem and Wifi

I don't know about the "AII" part, but the ZTE ZXDSL 831 is an ADSL modem/router. It may be acting as both, or it may be "bridged" to act as a modem only.

I also don't really know what you mean by "dail up." Since you apparently have (A)DSL service I assume you probably mean PPPoE and your account/password. If so, then ...

If the modem/router is acting as a modem only you would specify that configuration type in the D-Link's WAN section.

If the modem/router is acting as both then you have a choice of ways to use the D-Link. To simply daisy-chain it the WAN is configured for (the default) dynamic connection and you need to make sure that it is not using the same LAN subnet as the modem/router (I think that the defaults are different).

My router is NEXXT Nebula 300 and my father accidentally threw the box out. I just have my router, the power adapter, and the cable, but no manuals and/or a CD (if the box came with a CD). I've being trying to configure my router without a CD (ACCVENT | Nebula 300 Setup without CD installation)

But "192.168.0.1" is NOT recognized by my browser, no matter how much I try it. And, yes, I'm typing it right. The "192.168.1.1" alternative doesn't work either. I've formatted my computer and all and the problem persists.

Help me! What do I do?

P.S. For anyone who owns the Nebula 300: What did the box have inside aside from the router and the manuals? I wouldn't know because I got it thrown out and I've just lost my warranty because of it.

A:How do I configure my router?

Check to see if your router is actually on that ip with this command at the cmd prompt

Code:
ipconfig

this is assuming that your router is connected to your computer, In my setup (below) the gateway is my router highlighted in red. try the ip you find and put that in your browser and if you have more than one browser try it another one if it still does not work. Also you could lookup how to reset your router to factory defaults and see if that works, Usually to reset the router there is a button inside a tiny hole at the back of the router that you have to press with something the diameter of a paperclip for about 15 seconds

I've started your own thread for you here, as it gets too confusing to work problems of multiple people in one thread.

Please post the brand and model of both the modem and router. In general you unplug the modem and router and shut down computers. Connect the modem to the router's WAN (or Internet or Modem) port and a computer to a router LAN (usually numbered) port. Plug in modem; plug in router; boot computer.

You should have internet access and can login to the router to configure the wireless. If you don't have a router user guide on CD download it from the manufacturer's web site.

A:Configure Linksys Wifi behind a network

Connecting two (or more) SOHO broadband routers together.

Note: The "primary" router can be an actual router, a software gateway like Microsoft Internet Connection Sharing, or a server connection that has the capability to supply more than one IP address using DHCP server capability. No changes are made to the primary "router" configuration.

Configure the IP address of the secondary router(s) to be in the same subnet as the primary router, but out of the range of the DHCP server in the primary router. For instance DHCP server addresses 192.168.0.2 through 192.168.0.100, I'd assign the secondary router 192.168.0.254 as it's IP address, 192.168.0.253 for another router, etc.

Note: Do this first, as you will have to reboot the computer to connect to the router again for the remaining changes.

Disable the DHCP server in the secondary router.

Setup the wireless section just the way you would if it was the primary router, channels, encryption, etc. Note that you should use the same SSID and encryption key for the secondary router but a non-conflicting channel. I recommend channels 1, 6, or 11 for use for the best results.

Connect from the primary router's LAN port to one of the LAN ports on the secondary router. If there is no uplink port and neither of the routers have auto-sensing ports, use a cross-over cable. Leave the WAN port unconnected!

This procedure bypasses the routing function (NAT layer) and configures the router as a switch (o... Read more

Hi all,

I've just got long range wireless internet. The antenna has a single ethernet cable for me to use.

Normally the provider has DHCP switched on withing the antenna, and this is how it came. When I plugged in my NetgearD6300 the router automatically changed my network numbering from 192.... to 10.... "to avoid conflicts" but it worked well.

I chatted to the provider and he switched off the Antenna DHCP so that I could use my own DHCP withing the router and return to 192....

Clearly my knowledge of ip addressing isn't good enough because I now can't get it to work. Of course I could return to blind trust but I'd rather understand and have greater control over my home network. I contacted several people both informally and professionally but nobody seems to want to help me with this ... I'm hoping that this forum will live up to expectations!

I don't mind paying

Hi there all,

I have TalkTalk wireless modem/router package that i bought some months ago, (oh no i hear you cry) that's been sitting in the back of my cupboard. (best place for it as far as i'm concerned!)

You see I tried to set it up when i first got it, but i got so frustrated with it, it's been sitting in the cupboard ever since.

I tried again yesterday evening, but ran into all sorts of problems. I spoke to several TT "technical advisors" (yes i actually got through) in the process and i use that term very loosely.

To cut a very long evening short, after about the 4th phone call they told me that i needed to get my Philips (?) SNA5630NS/05 modem router configured.

They suggested i call the help line number on the bottom of the router box.

Now here's the good bit. You call the number and are presented with a message from TT saying "This line is no longer in use and TT no longer supply this product" along with a TT Tech help support line number.

We all no how far you get (or not) when you call TT don't we! It was like i was caught in a never ending loop of the TT theme tune, recorded messages, and far away people reading off of pre typed sheets.

I did get some useful info though. One of the TT support Techs gave me a number to call which turned out to be Geek Squad.

I explained my problem to one of their guy's and he said unfortunately they only deal with the new TT modem/router and not my model. However he did tel... Read more

Click on ADSL settings

ISP settings and enter the following settings

1) Protocol: PPPoA

2) VPI: 0 / VCI: 38

3) Encapsulation: VC-MUX

4) IP address: 192.168.1.1

5) Subnet mask: 255.255.255.0

6) Username: need to delete whatever he has and enter the tel. [email protected] once again

7) Password

8) Configured MTU: 1500

9) And then Click on 'Save All'

10) Close current window

My current business is set up with a cisco router connected to a register

credit cards during purchases. This was already set up for us. The
register is connected to port 1 of a cisco soho router which is connected to
a cable modem.

We recently purchased a stand alone PC and connected it to port 2 of the
router. That PC is dynamically assigned the IP of 192.168.100.2 and shows a
default gateway of 192.168.100.1. We can access the internet with no
problem with this PC.

We are going to purchase a camera system that will attach to the router for
remote monitoring. I need to open port 7777 of the router, but am unable to
get into the configuration to do so.

The cisco router book says that I should type 10.10.10.1 in a browser to get
to the config screen. This does not work. It also makes it look like it
should be handing out IP addresses starting with 10.10. not 192.168. I've
tried using 192.168.100.1 to access the router but it doesn't work either.

What do I need to do to get into the router config?

Okay, I just successfully installed dd-wrt on my wireless FON router.

I have no clue where to go from there. The wireless signal can be seen by my laptop, and i can connect to it, but if i try to open a web browser, i get a page cannot be displayed. The laptop gets assigned an IP address od: 192.168.1.114, so it is assigning me an IP, i'm just not sure if it is the correct one. read on...

I am assuming this has to do with configuring the wireless router. My wireless FON router is connected to hub or a router (i am not sure, it came with my xbox and it says "Gamester" on it, with 5 ports). The Gamester is connected to my Speedstream 5667 dsl modem.

I am kind of new to this forum, so if you need more info, just ask. Anyone know where I can start to solve this problem?
I can also access the router by typing in 192.168.1.1 into my browser. I think i read somewhere that I need to find the IP of my router? or wireless router? I have no clue

Please see the attached pic to learn more about my situation.

I have two routers at home: Buffalo wifi router and Cisco 1700
So far, i have configured on the cisco router
Fa0/0 with 192.168.12.1 255.255.255.0
eth0/0 with 192.168.11.60 255.255.255.0

route with RIP v2, no auto-summary.
In LAN 1, my PC1 can go online and Ping to LAN2 with no problem.

MY PROBLEM:
In LAN 2, my pc2 and laptop can PING to pc1 and router 1. but they CAN'T go online. It seems LAN2 can't go beyond LAN1 to the internet.
Does anyone if I am missing anything to configure on the cisco router?? Thanks a lot!!!

I have two subnets on my home network, one for my family's Internet access and one for my video surveillance system.

https:[email protected]/14869987704/

Sorry for the link rather than inserting a picture but I don't have an account anywhere I can link to the picture or don't know how from Flickr.

It all works correctly except for the wireless connection on the video network. I'm trying to use the wireless router as an access point instead of router; maybe that just won't work with the two routers I've tried. Alternatively, I could have a third subnet for the wireless cameras but I am unsure how to make that work so that the dual-homed PC could access it.

What is best? To buy an access point rather than a router? Or manual route to a third subnet? If the latter, I'd appreciate any instruction on how to configure it. I've read some articles from various router makers on it but it's still not clear.

Thanks,

Dale

Hi,

My ISP provides me internet connection through password protecting Access Point bearing IP address 192.168.20.1 built with IP filtering which allows only a particular IP 192.168.20.88.
I am not able to access internet on more than one computers simultaneously because router allows only single IP and I am not sure what are the WAN IP's uses Access Point provided by ISP eg. IP, Gateway and DNS.
My ISP provides me static IP address for home computer as mentioned below :

IP : 192.168.20.88
Gateway : 192.19.20.1
DNS: 192.168.20.1
Alt DNS : 192.168.20.1

My public IP address is 180.87.210.26.

Is there any option to add a router to bride or configure router as proxy server so that i can access internet more than one PC's simultaneously.

Read more

If you are familiar with the HAUWAUI HG520s router, I want to filter an ip range (ex. 192.168.1.10 to 192.168.1.255) so that no other users can connect on this ip range and start using the router.
please help
thnx

do you have 9 computers that need connecting? Sounds like you just need to shorten the IP range, not filter...

Is this a consumer router or a commercial grade router?

User Manual - Page 41 -- Section 4.8 is something you could do.... you can control access to internet and to your LAN.

I finally have the computer operating wireless, but the printer will not reconfigure to the Netgear router. At this point it doesn't recognize the signal at all even when attached to the computer. Would you please make some suggestions to try. It is very frustrating!!

I will be setting up a VPN on my home PC so I can connect with the office. (A VPN server is being set up at the office by a techie). I use WindowsXP Pro and have a Billion router that connects me to the internet.

I see it is straightforward to set up a new network connection as a VPN to the IP number of the remote server following the prompts in WindowsXP.

My question is, do I have to open anything in the router in terms of setting up a VPN? I have looked at the Billion settings and nothing jumps out that says VPN. I know the router supports VPN passthrough.

So is this a one step (just setting up a new connection in WindowsXP) or two step (also configuring the router somehow) procedure?

Thanks for your advice.

Julie

My cousin is using AOL DSL services. Before he can access the web he must log-in his AOL username and password on the computer. I notice it is not a constant connection like RCN or Pacbell service, where it does not require users to log-in. Which automatically obtain the IP dynamically or with a static IP the user put in.

The problem is that he recently bought a Linksys Wireless Router from Fry's Electronics and the other wireless device attach to the computers and laptops. We are not sure how to configure the Linksys Wireless router.

Please let me know if you encounter the same problem and was able to resolve it.

Thanks in advance.

I have an Asus wireless WL-520GU that I have a wired connection to my PC. Why, because I am using the wireless only to allow access to my webradio.

Problem is the web radio connects 50% of time. Other times to connect I need to manually configure on webradio to connect to connect to wireless. It works sometimes other times not. I haven't been be to get to point of securing the SSID. So probalby someone is stealing my bandwith.

Now to explain my setup, my modem is connected to my Linksys 2102 adapter (used for VOIP) which to connected to the Lan port on the router.

I can surf the web on the PC, but trying to establish a connection, the PC does not recognize a wireless device. I cannot even access the Asus web interface (192.168.1.1)

My default gateway is 192.168.0.1 that of the Linksys adapter,

How to enable SSID so I can lock it and I can access the wireless problem-free from the web radio (Aluratek) ?

I have an old Siemens SpeedStream 6520 from bell, that is capable of routing. The catch is, when I connect it to my modem, and via to my first main computer; It works. However when i try connecting it to a other computer, it doesn't work. I believe it may be PPOE problems, but I cannot find any manual nor CD to configure this router. Help would be greatly appreciated.

Also another note:
When I connect to the other comp, and when i run cmd and show ipconfig.
I get a invalid.domain for the DNS SUFFIX
