Hi zarka,
Welcome to Lenovo Community! And happy to have you here.

Looking at the Platform Specifications of Yoga 720 13" it says Max resolution: [email protected]  using DP port. And IMHO it can output [email protected] if you are using DP port only according to this. But the monitor which you have mentioned doesn't have DP input.

I hope the above information helped you.

Hi,I have Thinkpad T470 I've been using for 1.5 years. I installed new SSD a year ago and didn't have any issues. Today I tried to install one more memory into an empty slot. I disabled internal battery in BIOS, turned it off, dissembled and put a new memory in. But after that the laptop doesn't start up. Power green button doesn't blink. Tried to remove that added memory - no luck. Tried to reset CMOS - no luck. What else can I do? I think it's still under warranty but I'd like to try everything myself before that. No sure how fast support is in Lenovo though. Thanks

I bought a Lenovo T470 a couple years back with Win 10 for school and its been working great with absolutley no problems. Then last night i get home from work and go on to do school work and a message pops up saying battery not charging. It has the icon showing it recognizes that the charger is plugged in. Also the light on the lenovo logo is blinking 3 times red and repeating. When i unplug the charger it stops blinking. So I thought it was the charger, got out my multimeter and check it and it reads normal on both sides of the charger. Then I thought i needed a new battery but it wont even stay powered on with the power cord plugged in. So now it is dead and even with the charger plugged in will not turn on. Not even the power button light will illuminate. This laptop has been great to me and this happened out of the blue im hoping there is a way to fix this problem. And I also tried taking battery, unplugging it, hold power button for a reset. Nothing changed. Anybody have any ideas?

So I just recieved my T470 today, and I eagerly wanted to at least boot it up, but much to my surprise, when I plugged the cable in, I recieved no indication that it was plugged in or charging whatsoever. No green light anywhere, no heat, no nothing. I've tried various outlets, a different cord for the brick to the outlet itself, I checked out the battery on the inside and out to make sure it was all connected, etc. To say it's disatisfying is an understatement. Unless I can quickly get a cable before classes start (in one week), planning on a full refund because this is beyond disappointing to not be able to even using the dang thing.Edit: I have no proof it could be the power brick either, considering since there's no real way I could tell whether it's something with the motherboard or something like that.Edit 2: Tried another Thinkpad's power cord and brick, didn't charge or even show an indicator that it was charging (no green lights). Probably just gonna RMA it and hope for the best.

Received a new T470 a couple of weeks ago, but having issues when running off battery (internal + 3 cell): 1. Power Bridge failure: sometimes if I unplug machine and run off batteries, then remove the external battery, the machine shuts off immediately rather than switching to the internal battery. This occurs 1/2 or 1/3 of the time. 2. When booting machine (if machine is unplugged, running on battery): sometimes it hangs indefinitely at Lenovo splash screen (i.e. with endlessly spinning icon). Only way out is to reset machine by punching reset button on the back. (Note: #2 occurs always after #1 occurs, and 1/2 or 1/3 of the time on a regular reboot). 3. However: boot hang never occurs if booting while machine is plugged in OR if external battery is removed (i.e. running with the internal battery only). Boot hang only occurs if booting off batteries and external battery is installed. I called Tech Support, they sent a new internal battery, but that makes no difference. They also said it might be a faulty system board, but I ran full Lenovo HW diagnostics and all tests passed successfully including mother board test. Also tried a complete factory reset (Windows 10 x64), loaded all latest updates & drivers incl. latet BIOS (1.30), which I reset to default values (F9). Problem still persists. Anybody else experiencing these issues?

I would buy the USB-C, thinking if or when I replace the laptop, the USB-C charger is more likely to work as a spare.  As far as wattage, the 45W will be lighter, but 65W may charge some devices faster and is more likely to be compatible with any replacement.  (I am not suggesting that you are going to replace the laptop soon, but things happen and situations change.)

Thank you all in advance for any help you can provide. I am new to this forum and I just do not know where else to turn or at least point me to the correct forums to post.

I just got my new Windows 7 Home Edition Premium 64 bit Lenovo T420 and I cannot enjoy it for the following reason. Under power options, I created a custom balanced profile and set my Processory Power Managment settings to

-100% for Maximum processor state on battery and plugged in.... and

-5% for Minimum processor state on battery and plugged in.

Everytime i put my computer to sleep, hibernate, restart, shutdown, etc the maximum processor state always resets to 5% on on both plugged in/battery,

This means I cannot enjoy my new PC at full 100% processor state ever. Is there a startup program that affects this? I am running NVidia 4200 and Intel chips.

I have troublkeshooted every setting on both to still get the same result.

Is anyone aware of have any input onto this?

Thank you so much in advance. I am really desparate. Lenovo support has not experienced this problem prior when I called prioirty support.

Nick

A:Serious Power Option reset of Maximum Processor State every sleep/hib

Have you updated the BIOS on that machine to the latest version available (if it hasn't been already)? I remember issues with their thinkpad line last year where resume from sleep would cause the CPU to throttle itself and not come back from throttle, even under A/C power, until a cold power down and reboot (and thus the IBM tools would set OS values incorrectly at times). A BIOS update mid to late last year fixed this problem, so make sure your BIOS is the latest if you can, and it should be very recent too.

I'm trying to figure out if my phone charges slower via the USB on my Vaio vs the wall.

It's my impression that USB ports on newer hardware have enough power to charge the phone as fast as the wall?

But I don't know if these are full power ports being a Laptop and / or if there are any energy saver type of programs in place that may limit it.

Thanks

USB supplies +5V, if that is lower than the output of the wall charger it will be slower or not charge at all.

Hi, I am currently having a problem with my ADSL connection, one which I have contacted my ISP about but am reluctant to pursue without more knowledge.

When I came back from working abroad in August I noticed that my connection was much slower than it was before I left, going from about 5mbps to something closer to 0.5mbps. I contacted my ISP and this was soon sorted, but soon after I noticed another strange thing -- I would randomly get periods where I would get no internet connection. I noticed that my SNR was dropping to very low levels (I'm on 12db interleaved but sometimes it would drop to 3/2 or so). Sometimes it is the case that I can still talk to people over VoIP and they can hear me, but I can't hear them, or they have lots of jitter/lag as they speak.

About a week after that I noticed that there were times where the SNR was fine but I could not access new websites. It is strange, because when it happens other network activity like IRC/torrents/Steam etc keep on working and (for example) I can still talk to people on IRC/Steam or continue to download torrents which were downloading before the problem, but I can't access any websites, they just time out, say that the connection was interrupted while the page was loading, or say that the connection to the server was reset while the page was loading. I noticed that when this happens my router lists my output power (dBm) as going to either 0 or 512 (I assume these must be the lower and upper limits for ... Read more

I recently had some trouble with my portable HDD that I have resolved, but in the process, I noticed something strange in how enclosures get power. I have (2) 2.5" mobile HDD's - one is 80GB (Hitachi) and the other is 160GB (Seagate). I have them in external enclosures made by Cool Gear Drives that are combo USB2.0/Firewire units. I use the Firewire connection since I can run them on Bus Power - the USB2.0 connection needs a DC power plug (another cable to carry). I thought I had somehow deleted my drive and I couldn't read my drive in either of the cool gear units, so I went out and bought a "cheaper" USB2.0 only CompUSA enclosure for $19.99. The Cool Gear enclosures were $70 and $90. I was able to just plug in both of the HDD's into the Compusa USB2.0 enlclosure and they worked with only one cable. Why was I able to do this on the CompUSA unit and not on the other two enclosures? Is the fact that the Cool Gear units are combos and the combo draws more power? I guess that I can only find out if I buy a USB2.0 only Cool Gear enclosure and try out my HDD's.

A:power output on HDD enclosures

It's all related to the power capability of the USB vs. IEE-1394 connection. USB 2.0 gives you a maximum of 0.5A of +5V from each connection. Many 2.5" drives connect to two USB ports to get enough power to spin the disk without an external P/S.

Section 4.2.2.7 of the 1394 spec details the power availability. In 1394, a node could provide a maximum current of 1.5A with a maximum voltage of 40V. The self-id packets give detail about what a node provides and requires from a bus in terms of power. The 1394a spec has changed some of these values (e.g. max voltage is now 30V).

DELL's are pretty proprietary with their power supplys so if you want to add a higer rated one you will have to buy from them. You can take the PSU out of the case and read it's ratings and I would bet it is below 300W. I would get a bigger one if I were putting that card in or doing any other upgrades later.

Hi,

I would like to use my American Playstation 2 in England. I have been told I need a stepdown converter to convert the 220 or 240V in Europe to the 110V the American appliance needs.
But I do not know how many Watts the American appliance uses. There are converters that will work with appliances from 45W to like 1,000W. Any idea which one I would need?

I read somewhere online that I might need to get something up to 5 times more powerful than I need because some things (like TVs) have a surge of power when they are switched on. Does this apply to a Playstation too?

Apart from the stepdown converter, would I need anything else? Please email me at [email protected] with your replies.

thank you for your help.

I was thinking about when I play games at my desk, my mouse hand sometimes get's a little sweaty from heat, and how nice it was to mount a extra fan to blow on the shelf that my keyboard and mouse sits on. Would a 80mm fan be able to run adaquately useing power from a USB port? Any guides on useing a old cable to grab power from the USB port?
Here's a good tip for anyone who has a side mounted fan: I noticed that the side mounted fan built to blow onto my heatsink from the side of the case was just exiting out the exhaust and doing nothing to cool my cpu.. I fixed this by cutting the bottom of a old plastic cup, then electrical taping the cup to the side fan so that it funnelled air straight to the sink, this dropped my cpu temp a full 5 degrees C!

I'm aware that Sirius and XM had to power down their satellite receiver/FMtransmitter output do to the FCC. What I don't know is did they change model # at the time of the transition from higher power FM output to what they have now which is litteraly no output. I bought a new Sporter 3 and it has not power output, the home dock has to be pugged into a single Audio unit by RCA plugs, and the vehicle dock has to have a antenna output wire wrapped around your vehicles antenna wire. I have a freind who has a old Sportster and it puts out a FM signal that broadcast though out the house and I can even get it next door at my house, I've picked it up almost 2 blocks away on my car radio., hense the FCC coming down on the FM output.
I've sent back my Sportster 3 and I'm trying to get an older model on ebay. I've attemped to contact Sirius and find out from them what models have the old higher FM output and what docks are compatible with which units etc... Yah right. Those boobs are the worst. I've read review afer review. and everyone says Sirius customer and Tech support is an absolute JOKE!!, and I concure!!
I'm wondering if Sirius changed their models from Sportster and Sportster R to Sportster 3 &4 when they powered down their FM output or did they continue with the old models and simply power them down. Also their are muti model #'s for the same units .Sportster R is a SP-TK2, SP-2R2, SP-R2 and other models SP-R1R, SP-R2, SP-... Read more

What about HD Free Radio is out in some states, just have to buy the radio and that's it. I am not impress with Sirus and XM Radio they have a lot of drawbacks.. A good MP3 FlashMem card /transmistter or IPod can pretty much give you the same. HD Free Radio might kick the other two out since you don't have to pay the monthly charge..

Hi -

I have a HP Pavilion G7-1070us laptop bought about a year ago.

I tried to find spec to confirm the power output of the USB (translate: charging a Kindle).

Am I correct it is a relative standard output of 5.0 V @ 500 mA?

Just want to be sure before I use a wall charger.

Thanks much.

A:Solved: USB power output - confirmation

Yes that is the standard.
The newer fast charge USB ports can put out 900 mA.
Don't know if there is a fast charge charger that is available
for your kindle though.

hello, what are the power outputs on usb ports of the t460? there are 3 - 1; on the right, 2 on the left.what is their voltage and amperage levels out?most surely voltage out is 5v - but what about amp levels?what are the amp levels max out and are they  variable or constant? my real question is whether amp levels are preset in the laptop usb config being a constant amperage out or whether the charging item pulls just what it needs and the t460 gives amps out at the charging devices specs. if i have an item that states 'charge with 1/2 amp output charger' can it be safely charged using usb of the t460 laptop?  and i can't answer that question until i know amps out availability/specs. thanks.

I set up a network in a friends house with a netgear router and two netgear cards. One of the computers is a dell and the other a toshiba. Both are running Windows XP. I get a very good signal from one computer (dell) in a spot and a very low / no signal from the toshiba in the same exact spot. Could it be that the toshiba's PCMCIA slot doesn't output as much power as the dells? Is this possible or do they all output the same amount? Thanks.

Hoping this problem will be noticed by more people, the original post on this issue came from:https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/Linux-Discussion/T470-Linux-Power-Bridge-wrong-discharge-order/td-p/365...https://www.reddit.com/r/thinkpad/comments/63odjr/t470_battery_order_question_internal_discharges/ Brief description: same problem with OS including Win 10, Ubuntu 16.04, Gentoo etc. The internal battery always gets discharged first regardless its remaining power, which is generally harmless but seems not so good for the internal battery life. With my own T470 machine, updated with the latest 1.29 BIOS, this problem remains. According to searching results online, this little bug came with early versions of X's and T' including T460. PS: this issue had been successfully fixed with T460 via BIOS update 1.26, hoping it would be fixed with T470 sooner or later. Best regards.

I'm going to assume this is a hardware problem. I'll start from the beginning. I plugged in my cell phone via a USB cord to transfer some stuff to it, and everything on my computer froze. My keyboards backlight turned off and my mouse wouldn't respond. Nothing was doing anything.

I shut down my computer using the power button on the front. It started booting up, I could hear the fans and the hard drive, but nothing turned on. The keyboard stayed unlit and the monitor didn't even come on. It's like nothing is getting any power. I'm starting to freak out a little bit....

I'm running Windows XP Home dual booted with Ubuntu Hardy, Dell Dimension 3000, 2.8Ghz P4 processor, 2GB RAM, ATI Radeon 9250.

Any idea what's going on? Any help is much appreciated.

Thanks
