Hello. I've searched high and low for answers, tried many suggestions, but haven't had any luck in resolving.
Symptoms:
1. OneDrive explorer won't display in Modern UI (tries to load, shows splash screen/logo initially, but in a flash, turns black / displays blank/black screen and just hangs there. however, OneDrive does appear in left pane of my Windows Explorer, and in
Charm/PC Settings/Accounts & OneDrive all settings appear correct, ie connected to my Microsoft account, shows Used vs Free cloud storage space available, etc...)
2. When I check onedrive.com, recent files created on my computer and saved to c:\users\[myusername]\OneDrive\etc... are not syncing/uploading automatically as they're supposed to.

Things I've tried:

sfc /scannowchkdsk /f /rControl Panel/Troubleshooting/ProgramsRan AppsDiagnostic.diagcab & onedrivets.diagcab tool/utilities

I have a Virtual Server that has multiple NIC's on it. I am trying to run a scheduled task off the event 10001. If my first network interface goes from state up to disconnected i get an event ID 10001 and when it gets connected again event ID 10000 (this
is expected). For NIC 2 when it goes to a disconnected state there is no event ID at all for the disconnection event. When it gets connected again there is an event ID 10000.
I have been looking all around and become rather frustrated with why my disconnection ins't listed in the event viewer on my server for NIC 2.
Running Server 2016 Datacenter.
Any ideas would be welcome.

A:Microsoft Windows Mobile Remote Adapter -from windows update Install failed - Where can I find this so I can retry to re-install - mobile device does not connect

Your best option may be to open device manager (with device connected) and uninstall any related device, making sure the 'Delete driver software for this device' is checked.Once you have done this, unplug your device, uninstall WMDC 6.1 and reboot your machine. Then follow the instruction on my first reply, this should sort it for you.If anyone is helpfull, please click the 'Vote as helpfull' icon.

A:Windows failed to find the well known host "www.microsoft.com" using DNS.

You are unable to utilize DNS services. These are usually provided by the ISP and are implemented in the router. You may have inadvertantly blocked these if you added a second wireless router after your ISPs router/modem. Or you could simply have had a network outage. Turn off both the reouter/modem and the router for at least one minute and then turn them both back on. Often that "fixes" transient connectivity issues.

Hi,

I am running Windows Vista Home Premium on my laptop. For last few days I have been trying to install 'Upadate for Microsoft Silvelight (KB979202)' without any luck. Each time, I get the error "WindowsUpdate_00000652" - Windows Update Encountered an unknown error. However, in between, another update (KB915597) has been installed successfully!

I tried to resolve this problem by wandering through different forums. However, no luck yet! Can anybody help me resolve this problem and get my Windows Installer back on track?

By the way, I did the following:

Run cmd.exe with administrative previlliges and type sfc /scannow

Following is the output I received -

Microsoft Windows [Version 6.0.6002]

Beginning system scan. This process will take some time.

Beginning verification phase of system scan.
Verification 100% complete.
Windows Resource Protection found corrupt files but was unable to fix some of them.
Details are included in the CBS.Log windir\Logs\CBS\CBS.log. For example

Does anyone have any idea of what's going wrong here? Do I have to fix the corruption to make this installation happen?

Please help me resolve this issue.

Thanks,

A friend's Microsoft Office Professional 2010 install just started throwing this error:

microsoft office activation failed 0xc004f074

Does anyone know what causes this and how to fix it? Google shows that others have had the problem, but it's not clear how to fix it. I've already done a "repair" but that didn't make any difference.

Also, there's no hard copy for the license key. Can you recommend a program to recover the key from the Windows 7 computer? If I can recover the key I'll try to uninstall/reinstall.

I'm trying to install Windows 8.1 via Parallels on my Macbook Pro.
I create a new VM and use the .ISO file and get the error: "Windows cannot find the microsoft software license terms. Make sure the installation sources are valid and restart the installation."
I found this question was answered here: http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/windows/en-US/b1021d66-9774-4b5b-b50b-ad860c5ecc89/windows-8-enterprise-rtm-installation-error?forum=w8itproinstall
However, following the steps of the solution did not work for me. I created a blank VM and chose Windows 8.1. After this, it asks me to insert the installation disc. I cannot figure out how to use the .ISO as the source at this point. I tried copying and
pasting the path to the file and dragging the file to the VM, but no luck.
If there is a way I can install this without this error message or by somehow getting the path to the .ISO that'd be perfect.

Hi,
According to your description, I would like to confirm if you have unchecked the Express installation box.
Be sure to uncheck 'Express Installation' when installing, otherwise Windows setup will fail with an error "cannot find license terms" and get stuck in a reboot cycle.
I suggest you refer to the following link to use Parallels Desktop to install Windows 8.1.

So I had this box pop up earlier in which it said microsoft security essentials wanted to upload a file to microsoft or something (I didn't quite read it all) to see for further testing if it was malicious. The file in question was steamwebhelper.exe

Was this alert legitimate? Am I infected with something, what can I do to remove it? I have run a MSE and malware bytes scan and not found anything.

Hi there,From the file name it appears to be a component of the Steam gaming platform - if you have it installed then there is nothing to worry about. I guess MSE just got curious and wanted to take a further look, but this is the first time I've heard of MSE asking to upload a file.

The message in the event viewer that occurs just as the system reboots itself is "The MCSTRM service failed to start due to the following error: The system cannot find the file specified." - I googled this and found that it was connected to Rhapsody, which I promptly uninstalled. This alleviated the problem COMPLETELY for about a week and a half, until two days ago when it began all over again. I had not installed or uninstalled anything when the change occurred. Here is my HijackThis log (I'm not sure if you need this but I saw other topics include this).

Greetings,

I just started getting a repeat pop up asking for my permission to make changes to the computer - it's from Microsoft and the program is Windows Activation Technologies.

I keep clicking on NO, but a few minutes later - it pops up again. All scans have been done for spyware/malware.

I can't see the full link of where these changes will be made, but this is what I can see:

Windows\system32\Wat\WatAdminSV

I am not computer savvy, so I would greatly appreciate help with this.

Thanks,

Windows activation is alive and well in Windows 10. Microsoft doesn't like to talk about the inner workings of its anti-piracy software, but it's clear from testing that Windows 10 included a major change in the way activation works

Hi there,

I had bought upgrade licence for windows 8 Pro and used it in a machine while i was in USA. Then i moved to Australia and the Machine in USA was wiped and donated. I moved to Australia, bought another machine with windows 7 and tried to upgrade using purchased windows 8 licence (same licence keys that was used in USA) but windows was not activating.
So, i got in online chat with windows tech support guy who checked and verified purchased licence as valid. He said, he is located in Philippines and asked for remote access to my desktop. He played about 1 hr, he was trying to use the key that i purchased and was not able.
Finally he said, now your windows is activated and nothing to worry about.
I thought okay, good then.
Recently, i tried to upgrade to windows 8.1 and continually it says, i am not eligible. then i checked to windows activation and it appears that the Microsoft tech guys used some other keys than my own purchased key to activate and which says will expire in 30 days from today(expires on 09/11/2015). But apparently that expiry date keeps on changing as time passes by. Say, last moth i checked, it was saying will expire on 08/**/2015 (where ** is the date 30 days from checked date) and yesterday was saying will expire on 09/10/2015).
I dont know what kind of licence key he used.
When i checked the Windows activation, it says

Windows is activated.
Your windows licence will expire soon.

The original windows licence is most likely still active on the original laptop you donated.
Wiping the hard drive and removing all data including the Operating System does not remove the activation key which is tied to the BIOS once installed.
Basically anyone can install Windows 8 on that laptop and it will automatically activate.

For some reason half the computers in our organization will not take this patch.
Patch is suppose to update the %systemroot%\system32\wmphoto.dll file to Version: 6.2.9200.17254.

All indications show that the patch is successfully installed.
I can go to Program & Features view installed updates and see its there. Remove it/uninstall no problem.
Windowsupdate.log says patch installs. Dll just will not update.

Not setup to connect to the internet to do windows update. All patches are pushed via SCCM.
Manual install will not work either.

All computers are WIN 7 SP1.

Anyone experience/seen anything like this?

A:MS15-029 Microsoft Windows Graphics Components Information Disclosure

I can't help thinking that the KB article is in error here - neither 6.2.9200.x file exists on my machine, and the version number is one for Windows 8.x anyhow.

I'd ignore it and move on.

[edit] I checked the actual updates for both x86 and x64 versions - and neither contained any v6.2.x.y files at all [/edit]

This problem affect both documents i had prepared over the last 10 years as well as those i have prepared since downloading Windows 10. I dont think the problem is Windows 10 because until recently i could always open any of thes documents and edit them , print them etc. Now they wont open and i cant print them either. Any help in figuring out what is causing this and how to repair it will be appreciated . I even tried to access some documents from a flash drive and had the same result. Could it be a file extension problem?

Small town boy reboots Microsoft

GC Shekhar

Chennai,*August 6, 2006

He'd wanted to be the next Dhanraj Pillai, but the vista that destiny opened up for A Mahesh led to greener pastures in the world of technology.
The 24-year-old from small town Tamil Nadu has created a software that will add considerable muscle to Vista, Microsoft's brand new operating system due for launch next year.
In all probability, Vista will incorporate Mahesh's creation, which is an image browser, image editor, web browser, system tools and disk manager rolled into one.
In fact, Microsoft has already validated and awarded the product BETA2 iBRO.NET a patent protection certificate.
This means anyone may make use of Mahesh's product using the validation key but would need to pay Microsoft a royalty a part of which would reach this shy lad from Palayamkottai in southern Tamil Nadu.
The first member of his family to reach the post-graduate level, Mahesh developed the BETA2 iBRO.NET as the fifth-year project for his integrated M Sc course in computer science. He chose Vista's developer platform, where individuals are invited to contribute features for Vista.
"For sheer conceptualisation and acumen, his creation shows enormous scope and maturity. It's a full fledged tool that would not only remove deficiencies in Vista but add never-seen features in the OS," explained Dr Krishnan, professo... Read more

A:Windows Can't Find:oca.microsoft.com

Good Morning SimplyRose, I am not much help for you but as far as I knew the red X problem was associated with earlier MS Word programs.
I also personally never gave much consideration for the MS "Online Crash Analysis", a bit like asking "the man in the moon" how to fix your rocketship.

It is most likely that you have a software problem with your system and I would suggest seeing if you can get stable operation by hitting F8 during boot and try to get into safe-mode.
If you can reach this point and run your antivirus, spyware and adware that would be constructive.
As far as I recall you may be able to enter the "restore to a previous time" program from here and revert back prior to the problem happening.
I would suspect some form of file corruption for some odd reason is involved.
This is a start, others may have different ideas.
Cheers, qldit.
