Q: W530 - Intel HD Graphics 4000 vs Nvidia Quadro K20...

So, I havent really understood this with two dispaly adapters. On my Thinkpad W530 I have the Intel HD Graphics 4000 and the Nvidia Quadro K2000M Does the computer use both of these? How do I choose which one to use? It looks like mine is using the Intel, because as I right click on the desktop and go to Screen Resolution -> Advanced Settings I only get the Intel Controlpanel as an option (Not the Nvida). When I right click the deskop and choose Nvidia Controlpanel I get the error message: "NVIDIA Display settings are not available - You are not currently using a display attached to an NVIDIA GPU" I am totally lost The laptop works perfectly fine, but I would of course like to use the best display adapter, if itīs possible. So it would be much appreciated if someone could explain this to me

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Prior to today, I had a Dell Precision M6600 with....
Intel Core i7-2620M 2.7GYZ
NVIDIA Quadro 3000M
Windows 7

Using HDMI and the eDock, I was able to get it to work fine with my LG 34UB67-B at 2560 x 1080.

I recently got a Precision 7710 with

Core i7-6920HQ 2.9GHZ
Intel HD Graphics 530
NVIDIA Quadro 3000M
Windows 10

After updating all of the drivers I could find (LG, Intel 530, NVIDIA), I still can't get the 7710 to produce the 2560 x 1080 resolution?

According to the documentation I've read, this should be possible.

Any ideas?

Hi everyone
I already have 3 computers, don't play games but do adobe premiere video editing, no special effects, simple timeine and cut and titles.
I will now start to move around to give some lectures and maybe with video projection, so I'm thinking a lot about connectivity and battery life.
I might do some video editing as well.... so firewire is important but I can get it with a pci card I think.
I've found that devoted video card is better, but expensive.
I've found a second hand Dell 620 with a NVIDIA Quadro NVS 110M for around $500
http://www.portafixe.com/latitude-d620-p-71.html?language=fr
would it be better than a new Lenovo / Dell with a Laptop Intel GMA X4500 card ???
Anew lenovo/Dell with devoted video card is around $1000
Do I need more power for my use?
And I'm looking for a widescreen model also

What do you think?
Thanks

Upgrading my W530 Thinkpad to 1607, 3/4 way through the update, the Intel graphics driver is permanently disabled and the laptop screen goes blank.   The only way to monitor the rest of upgrade is to plug in an external monitor.   Once the upgrade is finished, rebooting still has the laptop monitor completely blank or displaying the "Lenovo" logo.   Reinstalling the Nvidia-Intel Win 10 Optimus graphics drivers does not fix anything, the intel video driver stays disabled.   Even if you try to replace it with the latest Intel video driver it does not work.   How could this get through beta testing.   No one with an optimus laptop ever tested the insider builds at all?    Before I plugged in the external monitor, I thought my laptop OS was permanently corrupt.

Intel integrated graphics uses ram for video ram, and that 32 mb is just minimum reserved ram for video or something like that, most important thing is that ram allocation for video ram is fully automated, it will use as much as it needs.

Were you using onboard before? If so, you need to enable discrete GPUs or disable on-board video in the BIOS of the computer. Then it should work. If not, check for any power plugs that have come undone and if that still doesn't work, the card is most likely dead.

Hello,

My laptop has Windows Vista Home Premium (64-bit) on a partition and I am having trouble finding drivers for my graphics card, which is an Intel HD Graphics 4000 model. I have tried my manufacturer's website, Intel's drivers, and all of them don't work. They end up with an error like 'This operating system is not supported.' Also, when I contact support, all they say is to upgrade to Windows 7. When I did get a driver to install, it messed up my screen, so I had to revert to the VGA Graphics Adapter again. If someone could help me find some drivers that were made for Vista or were for Windows 7 but were released quite a long time ago, that would be awesome.

Thanks,
Matthew

I recently bought an HP NVIDIA Quadro K5200 8GB Graphics card for a killer price for this chipset. I have been looking at some pretty nice used Z800 and Z620 machines.  I am wondering what compatibility issues I might encounter if I try this - the card specifically says it's for use in the 440, 640, and 840 series. Will in work in an 800, albeit at a slower bus transfer rate? If not, in a Z620 or Z820?   How much will I lose by using the card in the lower grade machine. Any insight greatly appreciated.

I found out from Nvidia, that I must have a Quadro Card for graphics, not a gaming card. I purchased on line an Nvidia Quadro 2000. I installed it, but the computer will not start and I get 3 long beeps then 3 short beeps. I have contacted HP to ask what video cards work in my motherboard and they tell me to call Nvidia. Nvidia says to call HP. Does anyone know where you can go to match your Motherboard with Video cards?

Hello, I've recently purchased a ThinkPad T430, and while trying to play a few of my games, I've noticed that under display drivers instead of listing "Intel HD Graphics 4000" it just lists "Standard VGA Graphics Adapter". Now, I know all about the simpler fixes with the Standard VGA problem. I've tried all of the "solutions" I could find. I've downloaded the Intel HD driver from the lenovo website under my specific laptop model(T430). I installed it, and everything seemed to work fine. I restarted my laptop, and went back to see that nothing had changed. It still listed only the Standard VGA adapter. I manually installed the Intel HD 4000 driver from the list in the Device Manager update window, and it showed that everything installed correctly. I restart the laptop, and boom. Nothing. Still lists the Standard VGA Adapter. I'm completely clueless as to what the problem may be. I've even restored my system, and uninstalled the VGA Adapter driver in hopes that it would install the correct driver after a nice restart. I've updated windows and everything. Nothing seems to work. Any input is appreciated. Thanks.  **A few notes: I'm running Windows 7 Professional - 64bit with a 256GB SanDisk SSD and 6GB of Ram. i5-3320M

anyone knows how the HD 2500 compares to the 3000 and 4000? I'm mostly looking for improved video transcoding compared to my Pentium G620 and don't really need the "gaming" graphics capabilities. But I haven't been able to find any information as to how the HD 2500 compares.

The fact that 2500 < 3000 is not really a good sign though...

A:Intel HD graphics 2500 vs 3000/4000?

the 3000 and 4000 are pretty superior of course the actual speed they function at will depend on which intel cpu it's paired with.
From what I've seen they actually are superior to even some of the higher dollar dedicated graphics cards in the way of transcoding. (if you are a gamer you would want to consider the dedicated, but if all you want is transcoding you are good)

However, you will only get the benefit if the software you are using supports the new quick sync features.
Intel? Quick Sync Video

In the instances where your software does support the features the 3k and 4k are twice as fast easily...

Hello,
Recently I've bought a new Dell U2515h monitor: Revision A02, manufactured date Jan. 2016.
I connect the monitor to my laptop Acer Travelmate P243m using the HDMI-HDMI cable.
In the laptop I've replaced Intel Celeron B820/830 processor with Intel I5-3210m, which comes with integrated Intel HD Graphics 4000.
OS used on the laptop is 64-bit Windows 10.
All drivers are up-to-date.
If this information is enough, could I ask you please to guide me through settings to achieve the maximum resolution and video signal quality?
With Intel's software I've created custom profile with following settings:

Resolution 2560x1440 (ok, the maximum the monitor can handle)
Refresh rate 50Hz (if 55Hz or 60Hz, than error of exceeding max. bandwidth appear. Try 1Hz increment?)
Color depth 32 Bit
Progressive/interlaced scan - using P is better?
Timing: CVT-RB (if GTF or CVT or CEA 861 than error of exceeding max. bandwidth appear)

And these settings work fine and monitor's resolution is 2560x1440 now.
So, there are my questions, please:

How a choice of timing standard influences on video quality on the monitor?
Does CVT-RB (Reduced Black) make black colors look worse? Black screen backlit bleed?Should I better lower the refresh rate to be able to set GTF or another timing? Which timing?Or better remain CVT-RB and try increment refresh rate by 1Hz to its maximum possible value?
After finding the maximum possible quality solution for RGB gamut, will choosing a wider gamut ... Read more

This time I triple checked the poll before I submit it.

Limits: max score possible in W7 is 7.9, WEI of Intel HD 3000 is about 6.3 so that's the minimum.

This is for the graphics score and not the gaming graphics score, as I believe the former will be slightly less.

Hi,I have in the past had a lot of problems with my Nvidia K2000M on my W530. Windows have kept disabling this due to "code 43" (Yellow triangle by the display driver).I have solved this by reinstalling Nvidia drivers, but when this happened every 3 days or so, I started to suspect something was wrong. And I believe I was right.... I tried to uninstall the driver (probably a mistake) before reinstalling the driver, but now the graphics card cannot be detected at all. When I try to install Nvidia drivers I get the following error message: "NVIDIA Installer cannot continue. This graphics driver could not find compatible graphics hardware". I also tried to disable optimus in BIOS, and enabled discrete graphics to try to force the computer to find the NVIDIA graphics card, but this obviously didnīt work. The computer then starts up with low graphcis and bad resolution. Under "Display adapters" in Device Manager there is no card detected at all (As the Intel integrated was disabled). So, is my NVIDIA graphics card defective, or is there som other solution to try to detect it? PS! I Also did a system update through Lenovos update center. Updated firmware in BIOS etc. This did not solve the problem..... Thanks,-ø

So according to the NVidia 378 Release Notes the 375 Professional drivers will be the last ones to support all the Quadro cards that exist in the P50/P70 series (1000M thru the 5000M) Does @Amy_Lenovo or any other moderators have any comment about this turn of events? What kind of guarantees will we get for future certifications against new software versions that are coming out? Are we out of luck, does Lenovo have any pull with NVidia on this? Do we as professional have any recourse? Official / unofficial MXM upgrades? Tradeup to a P71? (Probably a CDinH, but I have to ask ) Thanks.

I've had my Travel Mate since 2013.  It has served me well, but Iam doing some things where improved graphics would be nice.  The latest driver for the HD 4000 on the Acer site is dated 2013 (three years ago). The Intel site has drivers dated 2016, but it also says the Acer has customized the driver and that downloading a generic driver could lead to "Technical Issues."  I'm really wanting to know if downloaded a more updated driver would in fact really hurt my computer?  I also want to know WHEN Acer is going to start offereing updated drives for their older models to improve their performance.

A:Updating B-113M's Intel HD 4000 Graphics driver

If they haven't updated the driver since 2013, this probably means Acer doesn't think the driver needs improvement. I would install the new driver, and worst case scenario, you can uninstall it later.

Hi: Since I don't know what you have tried, if you have not tried this, give it a shot... Uninstall the graphics adapter (check the uninstall driver box too) and restart the machine so you get the Microsoft Basic Display Adapter to show up under the Display Adapters device manager category. Download and install this free file utility.  The second file listed is for 64 bit. http://www.7-zip.org/ Download and save, but do not run this graphics driver file from your notebook's support page. This package provides the driver that enables the IntelHigh-Definition (HD) Graphics in supported notebook models that arerunning a supported operating system. If high-definition multimediainterface (HDMI) video output is supported, this package alsoinstalls the HDMI Audio Driver. File name: sp63753.exe After you download the graphics driver file, right click on it and select 7-Zip from the list of options. Have 7-Zip Extract to: and let it extract the file into its folder name (sp63753). After that is done go to the device manager and click to expand the Display Adapters device category. Click on the Microsoft Basic Display Adapter. Click on the driver tab.  Click on Update Driver. Select the Browse my computer for driver software option and browse to the driver folder 7-Zip created. Make sure the Include Subfolders box is checked and see if the driver installs that way. Then restart the PC.

Hi, You can use the following method to update the Intel Graphics driver. First, download the latest Intel HD4000 driver for your notebook from the link below and save it to your Downloads folder - you need the fourth option ( ie win64_153343.4425.zip ).  Note:  If you wish to install a different driver version from Intel, the method is still the same. https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/25977/Intel-Graphics-Driver-for-Windows-10-and-Windows-7-8... When done, download and install the .64bit version of 7-Zip on the link below. http://www.7-zip.org/ When you've installed 7-Zip, open your Downloads folder, right click on the win64_153343.4425.zip package, select 7-Zip, select extract files and then click Ok. Cut this newly extracted folder and paste it on your Desktop so it's easy to find. When done, hold down the Windows key and press R Into the Run window, type devmgmt.msc and hit enter. In Device Manager, expand Display adapters, right click the Intel 4000 device and select 'Update Driver Software'. In the following window, select 'Browser my computer for driver software' and then select 'Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer'. In the next window, click the 'Have Disk' button and then browse to the extracted Intel win64_153343.4425 folder you pasted on your Desktop. Browse into the sub-folder Graphics, left click on the file igdlh64.INF to highlight it and then click ... I cannot get the Intel HD Graphics 4000 in the HP EliteBook 8470 notebook to work with the Dell 3014t monitor at a full resolution. I installed the latest HP drivers and the Dell Display Manager, all to no avail. With a DisplayPort-to-HDMI cable, the monitor is recognized as a Dell Digital Television (?) and the max. resolution is only 1920x1200 @60 Hz.With a DisplayPort-to-DisplayPort cable, the monitor is not recognized at all, in either DP 1.1 or 1.2 mode selectable on the monitor. I would like to get the native 2560x1600 @60 Hz resolution (which the monitor supports when connected to an nVidia GTX680) via either connection. Also, the notebook does support 2560x1440 @60 Hz when connected via a DP-to-DP cable to a Dell U2515H monitor. Can anyone help?

Hello,
We have five OptiPlex 7010 i7 computers with the Intel HD Graphics 4000 video card. They are connected via HDMI to a Crestron video switch which strips out the HDMI audio to an amplifier. They have been installed and working in a classroom setting for years on Windows 7 until we "upgraded" to Windows 10. Since then, once every week or so a user will log in in the morning and no sound will output from the HDMI port. We are unable to figure out what causes the issue to occur, but the only two ways to get audio to come back are:
1. Restart the computer.
2. In Device Manager, disable the Intel Display Audio device under Sound, video and game controllers, then re-enable it right after.
Has anyone else experienced this problem? Is there anything we should be trying? With it only happening once a week, it is very hard to figure out what causes the problem. I have fully debugged with the Crestron switcher and am confident that it is not the problem. I believe the problem is with the Intel HD Graphics 4000 combined with Windows 10.
Here is what we have tried/observed:
- under playback devices, Windows still shows green sound bars going out the Intel Display Audio device even though no sound is received by the Crestron switcher (and therefore the speakers).
- disabling/re-enabling the Intel Display Audio device in Windows playback devices does not fix the issue. Only doing that in Device Manager brings audio back.
- changing default format and other settings has no eff... Read more

I bought a manufacturer refurbished Inspiron 5720, i7 3612QM, 8GB RAM.  The BIOS is currently A12.  When I received it, it had a bad hard drive.  Dell sent me a new hard drive under warranty, but it was blank and I had to use a recover CD to reinstall Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit.  I have installed every recommended and updated driver for all of my hardware components.  But, everytime I install the HD 4000 drivers, the system starts to freeze up.
The system runs fine with the Standard VGA driver, but I can't run anything that requires better graphics.  I have tried installing every version and they all cause the system to freeze.  Sometimes it freezes during the boot up and sometimes it will run for up to 2 minutes before freezing.  And by freezing, I mean that it just stops working.  Sometime if I let it just sit and wait, it will shut off automatically.  Other times, it just stays frozen for hours and I have to hold down the Power button to turn it off.  When it restarts, it boots to the Safe Mode option screen.  I then have to boot to safe mode and restore the system to a previous recovery state.
Any help in how to fix this would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Glenn Higgins,
Please check if the drivers are installed in the order given in the below link:http://dell.to/X1IKGu
Also check if there are any yellow exclamation marks for any of the devices in the Device manager.
To get the drivers for your computer click on the link below, enter the system service tag and select the Operating system from the drop down list.http://dell.to/QjjZDA
In case all the drivers are installed and there are no yellow exclamation marks in the device manager, run diagnostics on the hardware components.  Click t on the following link for instruction: http://dell.to/OUGnqT
Reply to this post if there are any error message.

No you would need a top of the line laptop or a desktop with a separate high powered video card. Your laptop graphics are integrated on the board--not removable cards. Read-- Upgrade Video

Hi there,
I have recently got a Nvidia NVS Quadro 420 graphics card and have tried to connect up to 4 screens, Unfortunately this hasn?t worked and I was hoping you can help.
The equipment I have is;
Dell Optiplex 380 desktop computer, running windows 10 32-bit.
Cables being used are;
VHDCI to DVI-D splitter to 4 screens,
DVI-D to VGA straight connection to connect 4 VGA displays
So this setup goes as follows;
VHDCI >  VHDCI to DVI-D Splitter > DVI-D to VGA straight connection > VGA cable to each screen
With the above setup, Looking at the graphics card theres power going to it as fan is spinning but the screens remain unresponsive.
I have also looked in the BIOS to check if there anything there stopping it from working, everything looks ok to me.
Is there anything else I can try?
Thanks
Simon Wylie
