touchpad swipe right

Q: touchpad swipe right

Recently whenever I accidentally swipe on the touchpad from the right edge towards the center it enters a tab (or performs the function as if I hit the tab button). This is driving me crazy since when I want to move the cursor to the right I get a tab instead. I couldn't find anywhere in the touchpad settings how to disable it.
Any ideas?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hi I've got a Samsung NP300e5e-S02ZA (not the NP...shown in the sysinfo ) I upgraded to windows 8.1 from windows 8, everything was working fine. I sent it to the Samsung Care center to load the recover partition (I accidentally deleted the wrong one) Subsequently, I received a factory reset laptop, as you get it off the shelf. Everything is all right, except that the touchpad swipe functions don't work. Swipe from the left or the right, double-touch scroll functions etc. nothing. It only move the mouse cursor and clicks when tapped. bas.

I have done the following:
Checked the touchpad settings in Control Panel...everything selected, but no effect
Downloaded lateset touchpad drivers from Samsung site...installed, with no effect.
Downloaded latest drivers from synaptics site...installation fails.
First uninstalled driver before attempting to install above mentioned driver...result is the same

A:Solved: Touchpad swipe function not working

Seeing 76 reads and no reply's must mean no one knows how to fix it...or I'm the only one that doesn't know

I found a solution. The drivers I downloaded from the synaptics sites did not install, because I read somewhere that they had forgotten/neglected to digitally sign the driver (for windows 8.1 at least) Windows will not install a driver that is not digitally signed. That function can, however, be switched off. Here's how
Installed the driver afterwards and everything was as it. I'm running windows 8.1 64 bit. Perhaps someone can say if it works on Win 8 if the problem exists there also.

Hello.

I use an Asus Zeenbook with a large trackpad that enables multiple finger gestures. One of them is three finger swipes left and right to navigate back and forth.

If I want to go to the previous site in my browser, usually I could just swipe with three fingers, but somehow that has been disabled in Chrome. It still works in Windows (in folders) and in IE though, so it must be Chrome-related. AFAIR I haven't installed anything out of the ordinary recently, this problem just suddenly occurred one day...

What could've happened?

Thanks.

Is it possible to emulate that "sliding" feature where you can switch to different windows so easily? I can't believe it's not a built in feature it would be so much easier to navigate through windows than having to point and click on them!

A:Is it possible to get that Mac three finger swipe feature?

The closest you can get in standard windows shell would be probably using Synaptics driver for touchpad and setting 3 finger gesture to Win+Tab (or two times it to switch between windows) or Ctrl+Tab (to switch between tabs).

Of course, there would be no "sliding" animation itself, only standard Win+tab animation.

Has anybody been able to change settings for 3 finger swipe in Windows 10?Switching apps using 3 finger gestures is absolutely useless, and I would like to be able to use the same gestures to go back and forth.  When I installed Synaptics driver for other products, version 18.x and for Windows 8.1, I would get the back and forth option back. The only problem is that the trackpad buttons do not work. Everything else worked fine except for that. I tried a number of 18.x versions, and all of them had the same issue. Synaptics driver for P70 Windows 8.1, ver. 19.x, doesn't have back and forth option. This has become vastly annoying, especially when I'm browsing the web using the touchpad as going back would require a rather lengthy travel of my hand. I use Chrome mainly and I have to press two physical buttons, Alt and an arrow key, to go back and forth.  Please, any input will be greatly appreciated.

I'm interested in learning about the software that is used to manage access pass cards, such as those used by hotels or apartment blocks to grant access to the lifts and other security areas.

They are usually plastic cards which when held up against the reader or slid into a reader, grant access to a door or lift.

I'm not even sure what these cards are called so having trouble searching online.

Any pointers would be great.

So I just put together my new computer with windows 8.1 and I noticed that when i do the swipe up gesture to access the jump list from the taskbar, my computer will automatically launch whatever my mouse is over when i let go the mouse button. On my laptop with 8.1 when i go through the swipe up gesture using the mouse, the jump list will open up and then i can click on it to choose what i want. Does anyone know where the gesture settings for jump lists are?

In the picture i have attached, I have the "Downloads" folder highlighted from where my mouse is from clicking and holding while swiping up on the icon. If i let go of the mouse, it will go to the downloads folder. On my laptop however, the same dragging upwards will not automatically go to the downloads folder, but rather make the jumplist appear only.

Whenever I swipe in from the left of the screen in Windows 8.1, the programs I have open - usually only Outlook and Chrome - sit side-by-side, each taking up half of the screen.

That's ok, but when I close one of them by dragging the divider to the right or just closing it normally, the remaining program does not resize to its previous setting and stays at the split screen 50% size.

Is there any way around this, as it's very annoying.

HI, I've lurked this forum for some time already, but now that I had some specific doubt I decided to Sign in
I wanted to change the icon for WAV files, so I did so by modifying the right icon in Wmploc.dll, using Resource Hacker.
The thing is, when you swipe a icon, he actually swipe a group of Icons. In this case, 6 icons of different sizes:

What I would like to know is if there's a way to change only two icons of this group (the ones signed with the name 722 and 723). So, I can have another icon with better readability on those small sizes.

Hope someone knows a way to get there. Thanks.

A:Individual icon swipe from a Icons Group?

Hi and welcome to SevenForums,
I've personally never used resource hacker but it would seem doing it like that you'd need 2 separate files to add to those two entries ?
Scaling never works very well in any graphic's program I would usually just export as and save it to the sizes I wanted. in a icon's case I'd have 6 separate files in those sizes.
Then save that file to a .ico file type,
Cheers.

What do you mean by forward and backward swipes? Just scrolling like you would on Mac OS X?

If that is the case it's already built in, just try it.

I'm helping someone with a Foxpro Database, they have an existing Access database that was setup by someone else but are migrating to foxpro.

The access database has a feature that works with a Card swipe to verify ID's, there is a 3rd party ActiveX control that will send the swipe data to a particular port, I haven't had a chance to study what it does but I guess it is checking a table to validate the swipe.

So I'm not sure what to ask, but would like to know if anyone has done something like this in either Access or foxpro, just so I can get an understanding of how it is configured.

Ok, so whenever I restart my laptop, the touch pad scroll function stops working, so I can't slide my finger down the side to scroll up and down on the page. I also can't swipe from the sides to get to the menus, though I seldom use that function.  I have tried updating the drivers and it says they are all up to date.   In trying to figure out how to fix it, I discovered that if I go into Mouse Properties through the Control Panel, go to the Hardware tab, click on Properties, going to the Driver tab and clicking Driver Details, then close all these windows, something loads quickly and the scroll and swipe functions work--until the next reboot. (Going into the ELAN properties through the Device Manager doesn't work--it has to be through the Control Panel.) This problem has occurred ever since I bought the laptop a few years ago, but I am looking to give it to someone else and figured I would try to fix this before explaining this ridiculous process to my friend.   Is there a specific driver or something else I need to fix this problem?

I don't really know how else to describe this issue with my laptop, but I've noticed that while typing and then using the touchpad to mouse around, the last word spontaneously deletes itself. I recently isolated what causes it: Every time I make a swipe at the bottom left of the touchpad to the right,, the last word behind the typing line is deleted, but it seems to be very finicky on whether it works or not--but about 1/3 of the time, it works and the word is deleted. That feels like a specific gesture somewhere in the laptop, but I don't know what causes it or how to get rid of it.

DoctorDonna,

Sorry to hear you are having some problems with the touchpad, let's see if we can figure it out. Without knowing the specific model, I am going to assume this unit came with Windows 8 on it.

Did you upgrade the operating system to Windows 8.1?
Did you experience this issue before you upgraded to Windows 8.1?
If you did not experience this issue until after, there is a solution posted in this thread that I'd like you to try and see if that resolves your issue: Elan Touchpad problems after Windows 8.1 upate

I'm using an HP Spectre x360, with Windows 8.1 (factory installed).  I have the most up-to-date Synaptics touchpad drivers, as obtained from the HP website under my computer model number. The problem is when trying to use the Synaptics 3-finger swipe in Internet Explorer 11.  It does not work reliably.  Sometimes I'll have to swipe multiple times before the swipe will register and the browser will navigate backward or forward accordingly.  It seems as if there's some sort of focus problem, like an initial swipe or two creates the proper focus, and then a final swipe finally causes the appropriate navigation.  The behavior will change depending on the website.  For very simple sites, sometimes a single swipe will suffice, but with more complex sites, the problems tends to surface. Can this be fixed with the Synaptics drivers, with a registry edit, or with some other hack?

I have a dell inspiron notebook less then one year old. Every time I attempt to start up it suggest start-up repair or start normally. If I choose start normally it begins to load with the microsoft symbol when all of the sudden a multi-colored streak runs across the top half inch of the screen and it freezes for good. I have used startup repair and the computer is unable to automatically repair it, I have tried to reboot from an image of the computer and the same error happens at start-up. I have even gone as far as restoring the factory settings but there is nothing that will prevent that little streak from showing up and freezing my computer mid start up. Any help would be great. thank you guys

Considering that you restored your laptop, I'm willing to consider a hardware issue. Does the drive LED continue to show activity, or does that freeze as well?

I have a Yoga 14 (Type 20FY) that I am hoping to improve the gestures of. Currently the touchpad settings do not have any option for a four finger swipe. I have the latest drivers (11.21.9.3 Elan). I am looking to add the ability to use the four finger swipe to change desktops.

Hello All,

I reinstalled Windows 7 on my Dell Precision M4400. The install went seamlessly except there is a driver called, Broadcom USH w/ swipe sensor which did not install. Dell has set up a webpage for the driver which shows which version of the driver that goes with which machine and which OS. My machine is listed under several OS but not for Windows 7 Pro (32 bit). There is a driver for Windows 7 (64 bit) but I do not think I can use it.

Here is the webpage with the list of drivers:

https://www.dell.com/support/article...9/SLN129590/en

Which one should I use?

Thanks, Bill

Hi everyone, I have a peculiar issue with the Synaptics driver on Windows 10 (Build 14393.693) Apparently every time the laptop goes to sleep, the option for 4-finger swipe to switch virtual desktops gets automatically disabled. Users have been facing a similar issue on other laptops with the 3 finger-swipe not working & have been able to fix it by restarting one of the services running in the background or modifying the registry.https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/Windows-10/Windows-10-gestures-with-Synaptics-touchpad/td-p/2140422 Unfortunately I have not been able to find a solution for the problem with the 4-finger option.Does anyone else face the same issue? Thank you!
