I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hi friends, I have a thinkpad T440s with 500 GB 7200 rom HDD. I would like to add an SSD , as i have read that WWAN can be used for that. Can anyone guide me through and some forum members have mentioned it was not detected, can anyone share a working setup step by step. Thanks in advance.

A:How to add SSD without removing HDD in Lenovo thinkpad T440s

Welcome to the forum!

You need to buy a type 2242 M.2 SSD (42mm lenght) with SATA interface.

Then you need to remove the cover and install the SSD in the WWAN slot. I normally go the way of removing the HDD, installing the SSD, clean installing Windows. Then I put the HDD back.

Lenovo provides a hardware maintenance manual, which you can download from here: click me!. See chapter 9, steps 1020 & 1050 for the above mentioned steps.

Hi, I have a Lenovo T440s and just purchased a Samsung EVO 860 1 TB SSD SN S3Z8NB0M108662P MZ-76E1T0. (2.5, not M2)I was planning to replace the current SD. I am using a USB/SATA cable that works with other drives to make a copy of the old drive. The computer bios/device manager does not recognize the drive! The cable works with other drives.  Any advice? Thanks, Thomas.  T440s Laptop (ThinkPad), Machine Type Model: 20AQCTO1WWOperating System Windows 10 (64-bit) (Just updated all the latest patches and drivers.)EVO 860 Sata 6 GB/s V-NAND SSD

A:Lenovo T440s ThinkPad does not recognize EVO 860 1 TB SSD

That the cable is working with other drives is no guarantee, I would shut down the computer, insert the ssd and connect your old drive to the cable for duplication. If that works, the cable is too old for the ssd.

I have a ThinkPad T440s,  which I recently bought refurbished (in case it matters it's running Windows 10). I see that there is only one jack for the headset and microphone. I plugged in my little earbuds-with-mic combo into the jack. Sound comes out of the earbuds but the microphone isn't working. I managed to work around this for today by plugging in my USB mcirophone, but it doesn't have speakers on it and I will need a headset-mic combo to work on my project. Why isn't the headset I have working? And if I need to buy something that does work, what should I be looking for to make sure it's compatible?

I've just changed the ssd (harddisk) of my Lenovo ThinkPas T440s, then installing Window 8.1 Pro on the new ssd.To do that, I first changed the bios settings, allowing for legacy boot. Then I powered-off the machine from the bios (Disable Built-in Battery), so as to change the ssd.Eventually, there was some problem with the bios, so I disconnected manually the internal battery.Bios: LENOVO GJET89WW (2.39 ) 04/12/2016Boot Mode: Legacy BIOS in UEFI[ This is the lastest bios, obtained here: support.lenovo.com/fr/fr/products/Laptops-and-netbooks/ThinkPad-T-Series-laptops/ThinkPad-T440s/20AQ/CTO1WW/downloads/DS035965 ]Now, when I enter the bios, I cannot change any setting. I received a laptop from my father and the fan needs to be replaced. But I cannot figure out how to remove the cover. There are no screws at all on the base, even under the rubber feet. There appears to be some kind of security lock on the right side but I have no key. Or it is a slot for a lock cable. I have a picture of the bottom of the laptop if somebody needs it, as well as other pics.

Hi my Lenovo Thinkpad t440s screen goes blank for moment when i connect and disconnect the power cable i have tried with updating drivers but it did not work :/

A:Lenovo Thinkpad t440s screen goes blank for moment when i connect and disconnect the power cable

I believe this is due to a setting that changes the refresh rate based on power type. When plugged in to AC power, the refresh rate is 60Hz and on battery it is 50Hz. The switch always make the screen go black for a momment. On my T440s, I right click the screen and choose Graphics Properties , then Power, then on the left side of the screen, "On Battery". Then I disabled "Display Refresh Rate Switching". Hope that works for you, Happy New Year!

First off, I am an Electronics Technician by trade.  I have 25 years of experience with all kinds of electronics.  This one has me scratching my head.  This all  started because I had an issue with my touchpad so I changed it out.  During the process I removed all power including, power cord, external battery and internal battery.  Replaced the mouse pad and put everything back together.  When I went to power it up I got no response.  Here are the things I have tried. 1. Hold the power button for a minute.  Tap it 10 times then hold anothe minute.2. Remove all batteries and press the power button for 1 minute.3. Remove all batteries and the RAM module and press the power button.4. Press the reset button through the cover on the back of the machine.   5. Lastly I disconnected the CMOS batter along with all other power.  The last step actually let me me boot up my machine and everything was working like normal.  I was happy I had fixed the problem, but I didn't.  Once I shut down the machine it still will not power back up.  I have to disconnect the CMOS battery again in order for me to powe up the machine.  Once the machine comes back I updated the BIOS to the latest version and that didn't help either.  I am stumped!  Any advice that anyone can give me is greatly appreciated.

It sounds like the power button.  Make sure the little cable is inserted all the way and is straight.  Also, the little board with the actual button might not be mounted correctly.

i've got a T440s that was upgraded to windows 10 about 6 months ago. after installing a new brother printer yesterday, the machine won't boot any more; it just goes directly to automatic repair, then diagnostics, neither of which help. i tried several system restore points, but sr always fails telling me it can't copy the registry. i ran the lenovo hardware diagnostics which fails in the targeted read test of the hard drive with bad sectors. i am backing up all the data (which is on the solid-state drive ?) manually from the cli prompt (that still works) before i do anything else. next planned step is to run the bad sectors tool). i'm wondering if the bad sectors are where the registry (or its backup) is stored, and if so, then will "fixing" the bad sectors destroy the registry to the point where i need to do a refresh. this is the first time i've dealt with a system with a hybrid drive (ssd for start-up & os, hd for storage. since it was originally a windows 8.1 machine will running the refresh put back windows 10, and if so, will it know where to write the refreshed os files to the ssd and hd? all suggestions appreciated.

Hi to all.
I am new here and need some help/info.

I have had a T440s, (20AQ0069GE, i7-4600U, 8GB, Samsung 840 EVO 500GB) since 2013 without any major problems.
It survived all upgrades from Win7->Win8.1->Win10 all versions up to 1809 without damage.
BIOS 2.52 slowed it down somewhat, but still OK.
But Windows 10 1903 made is so lame so as to be virtually useless.
None of the several other desktops and laptops which I have upgraded to 1903 were slowed down noticably.

So I decided to set my T440s up from scratch, which I reckon will take about 10 days.
As a test, I cloned my desktop (still on Win 10 1809) onto a SSD and it ran fine on my T440s. Not very fast, but ok, probably due to the 2.52 BIOS.
But of course none of the Function Keys, specific to the T440s worked, since my desktop is totally different hardware.

Before I actually start installing Win 10 AND all the application SW, I would like to be sure that in the end all the T440s funtions will work..
There is a lot of bloatware which came with the original machine, which I never used and can do without.
I am sure many of you have been in the same situation.

So my question is:
Which Lenovo drivers do I need to make all the T440s peripherals (Function Keys, card reader (?), what else ?) work under Windows 10?
Where do I get them?

Thanks for your help.
Ruebe2

Welcome to the forums.

To get drivers you can go to support site.  See below.  You can also download Lenovo Vantage from MS Store.  It will automatically look for drivers for you.  You can choose what to/what not to install.  For hot key specifically you will need hotkey drivers which are at the below site.

Hello,  I newly bought a Thinkpad 68+ (6 cell, 72Wh) battery for my Thinkpad T440s (i7, 12gb ram), but noticed that after only 4 cycles, its maximum charge capacity dropped from 71.1Wh originally to 66.07Wh both through Windows 10's Battery Report and Lenovo Vantage.. The voltage also got higher ; it went from 11,2V to 12,96V... Should I consider my new battery as faulty ? Or is it considered "'normal" to lose basically 9% of the original capacity after 1 week and a half and 4 cycles...?I use my computer quite lightly, doing mostly office and Chrome browsing. Thank you, and all of you have an excellent day

Everything was working perfectly fine on my T440s with Windows 10 Pro, I am not sure what caused the issue, May be a driver upgrade touchpad is no more working. I suspect that it's not a hardware issue because button clicks works and scrolling in web pages works. The Driver version which I do have currently installed is 19.0.17.115 from Synaptics.  If I open the mouse properties I can change settings for TrackPoint but TrackPad options are grayed out. Can't make any changes.  I tried different drivers from Lenovo, Reinstalled Windows 10, Tried Resetting Windows 10 and Reinstalled drivers but nothing works. I would like to hear from any T440s owners which version of driver they use and if everything is well with Windows 10. I am thinking of making some modifications in the registry to get it back to work.  Any help ?? Thanks in advance!!

I have recently purchased a 29" ultrawide LG monitor, with a 21:9 aspect ratio. When I plug it in, it recommends a 2560x1080 screen resolution. I was disappointed as the display settings on my thinkpad only go up to a 1960x1080 resolution.  Is there any way to achieve the correct resolution? I am currently connecting to the monitor using the dual DVI-D cable that came with the monitor.  I am wondering if there is a driver update that will support this, or a change in connection method? Thank you To update:  I am now connected via an HDMI/Display port cable instead of the DVI cable. This has not given me the option to increase my screen resolution in my display settings.

FYI - After much research and consultation I have fixed it. Turns out I needed to update my Intel HD Graphics Driver to the latest version which supports a 2560x1080 resolution. I also purchased the HDMI/Display port cable which didn't solve the problem but probably helps with quality.

Hi you guys!I would like to excuse my bad English in advance. This happened like three days ago. Regular reboot. I've tried ALL F-buttons but none has worked at all. But if I FN-lock them, I can change the brightness and that kind of stuff - SO, it's responding, but nothing more nothing less. And because I can't choose different boot, neither go into BIOS, I feel kinda f-ed (did my motherboard actually brick it self?!)Tried so far: BIOS battery, int+ext batterypack, w/ and w/o AC adapter, disconnected the harddrive, disconnected the RAM. And you know what? The same screen. ALL of the times.Any suggestions? Try to recover bad sectors (if any) in another computer? I'm looking to upgade the display of my T440s to Full HD (1920x1080). Currently it has a HD+ screen installed (1600x900), AUO B140RTN03.0 is the model number. I've come across two options after searching over the Internet. Below are the options I'm considering for now:1. AUO display B140HAN01.2 (FRU: 04X0436)2. AUO display B140HAN01.3 (FRU: 00HT622) The AUO B140HAN01.2 (FRU: 04X0436) screen appears to be the one that is certified by Lenovo for T440s based on the FRU list. The AUO B140HAN01.3 (FRU: 00HT622) screen seems to be a newer version and it appears to be certified for T450s based on the FRU list document. I have read in several forums on the Internet that the AUO B140HAN01.3 screen works for T440s as well. I was wondering if someone had a chance installing B140HAN01.3 (FRU: 00HT622) panel on T440s and if it was successful. Hey all, Recently I've been having problems with my T440s ThinkPad not turning on. The first time this happened, I took out the internal battery and it worked! But then it randomly shut off while using it again and it hasn't turned on since. I purchased a new internal battery in hopes of that being the issue and it just arrived today but I still get nothing when trying to power on. I'll run through what I have tried unplugging and plugging back in the internal batteryholding the power button for 60 seconds to discharge itpressing the emergency reset buttonremoving the RAM and placing the RAM back I have done all of these things multiple times except I only reinserted the RAM once. Oddly enough, when the internal battery is unplugged and I plug the AC adpater into the machine, the power LED flashes 3 times. I've searched for this possible LED error "code" and found nothing.  I am desperate for help, I am entering my senior year and as a computer science major it is necessary for me to have a laptop for most of my classes.  Any and all suggestions are welcome. Thanks

Hello. This is my second attempt to post this question. The first one disappreared mysteriously! I have a new-to-me refurbished ThinkPad T440S. I see that there is only one jack where I can plug in speakers and a microphone. I usually have a set of speakers plugged in there and a USB microphone when I need one. But for my current job I will need a more lightweight solution. So, I plugged in an earbud headset with a microphone. The sound on it works fine, but the microphone doesn't. I tried changing the settings, but all I can get it to do is record background noise, or nothing at all. Why is this happening? Looking for help. (If this is some compatibility issue, I'm willing to buy another headset, but I need to know what kind.) Thanks.

I am assuming that you are referring to the part similar to the image below. Click on image to expand   There were two versions from what I can tell from the parts list, one for the HD model, and another for the FHD model.    To know for sure what one you need, the best way would be to enter your serial number on the parts list site, and if not found, use the exact Model/MTM number for your system.  FHD model part number:    00HT497HD model part number:    00HT496  Cheers,
