I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hello all,

I need some advice.

I recently replaced my old harddisk to a new harddisk. The old harddisk has windows xp home and other programs installed.

I did not format the old harddisk, I only took out the old harddisk and replaced it with a new harddisk. I then installed windows xp home to the new harddisk.

While I am installing programs on the new harddisk, I discovered that one of the programs do not allow me to activate the program license because I have previously activated the program on my old windows. I need to do a proper uninstallation to release the license, then I can activate the license of the program in the new harddisk.

My question is, can I take out my current new harddisk, replace it with the old harddisk, boot up as normal into the old harddisk windows, uninstall the program inside the old harddisk, then replace the old hardisk with my new harddisk again.

Will I be able to access the old windows on the old harddisk?
Will it mess up my current windows/programs settings?
Will my current new harddisk windows be able to work as normal after accessing the old harddisk windows?
I thought of accessing the old harddisk as a slave, but I do not know if it is possible to access the old harddisk and do a proper uninstall of the program?
Is there any better way of uninstalling the program on my old harddisk?

Thanks in advance.

A:Accessing Win XP on old harddisk to uninstall programs after installing new harddisk

you have to swap out the drive completely. at no time should you have both hdd plugged in.

repeat, do not run them as master and slave. run each hdd individually at each time only.........

I am having a problem to resize web pages. When I play a game on say pogo and the game comes up, I can not get it to expand. I have tried to grab the bottom corner and pull it , it does nothing. My box up in the right hand corner only has the minus and X signs. I am running XP Home. Hope someone can help. Thank you.

Depending on the application and how it manages the window sometime you cannot expand it. But you can change the PC's Resolution to make it bigger. To do it select a blank space on the desktop and right mouse click. Then select Properties and the Settings tab.

I hope it does the trick for you, let us know.

How do i reset resizing, for everything?

I just bought a new display that is bigger, but i need a HDMI adapter to get 1080p, but it will take a month so i just have 720p for now, and i wanted everything to be correctly placed. I had a 1080p display and now i'm using a 720p, but now everything is wrongly placed, the sites layout are horrible, and i wanted to know how to reset it.
Oh by the way, i'm using VGA, if i use DVI will i get 1080p?

Thanks,

Hello Alex,

You should get the same resolution with DVI as you would with HDMI, so do try connecting a DVI (graphic card) to DVI (monitor) cable to see what resolution you can change to.

Hope this helps,

1. you can mix any makes of disks. They are all 'compatibel'.

2. the make does not matter. They are all the same since they all come from the same factories in Thailand. I have a dozen different makes and do not notice any difference.

3. except Seagate - one of those just died on me. The first and only disk that died in my installations.

My computer came with a 10gig hardrive with Windows Me preinstalled. I upgraded to Windows XP Home Edition and have been very impressed it was well worth the 90 I payed for the upgrade pack! I purchased 64MB of RAM to bring my memory from 64MB to 128MB and my computer hasn't crashed ONCE since I got XP! But having two operating systems on one 10 gig hardrive and lots of preinstalled programs such as office has taken its toll and I was warned the other day that my harddisk was nearly full! I deleted all my unnessesary files and managed to get back 1 gig of space but I'm still not happy and would like to get a new 20gig hardrive. It makes more sense to use my recovery disk to return my computer to the way it was when it left the factory and reinstall windows XP on the new harddrive leaving my old operating system on the old C:\ and installing all my programs into the new harddrive. I have two questions about this:

1) Will my computer become dual-boot which i DONT want to happen I want the same setup as I have know but with XP installed on the new harddrive?

2) Will I be able to call my new harddrive B:\ as I don't have a 5 1/2 floppy drive installed and would prefer to have things organised and call it that, if not what will my drive call itself as default as I already have A,C,D,Q,R drive letters already taken?

Hello,

Re: Win98SE - Intel 465 Mhz

The harddisk in my PC is 8 GB of which only 2,56 GB is still available now.
From I similar PC (done away in the meantime) I still have a 8 GB IDE harddisk.
and want to place it in my PC.
Please mind that I have never opened a PC sofar.

a) I don't know to what electronic circuit-cable it must be connected (wondering about serial and parallel)

b) then this second harddisk must somehow be connected to and made visisable to the system (by cables I think; however what cables, new ones or
already present)

When I tried to google this subject I only found items on partitioning etc, not
about how to get and connect a second harddisk inside a PC.
Furthermore I have no idea whether there are special well-known problems
related to having a seond harddisk installed (e.g. very slow system)

Advises will be highly aprreciated.

So far I've been using three partitions: C: (20 GB, Win XP) D: (290 GB, applications) and E (290 GB , miscellaneous files) Now I'm moving on to Windows 7 and thought I'd rearrange things. I'm planning to increase C:'s size to 200 and E:'s to 400, while erasing D:. I've already got everything backed up on E:, so the data on D: and C: doesn't matter.
What's the best way to rearrange the partitions? Do I risk corrupting E:? Or is deleting a partition and adding some empty space to an existing one an easy process?

During the W7 install you can delete C and D and put W7 on the C that you will create.

Once W7 is installed you will have a new feature where you can adjust the partition sizes from inside W7 by using disk management inside of the administrative tools.

Hi,

I am using Acronis to try resizing a 200 GB partition, the last partition on my SATA 750 GB HD, but it wont.

I've looked at the other partitions to see if Acronis is working and they are all available to resize easily.

This 200 GB partition though recognized is not available for resizing (the up and down blue tabs next to it wont light up?). I can move the partition and/or change the size of unallocated space around this partition but it will not be made available for resizing? I don't get this when the other partitions can be resized?

Does anyone know why this might be? And how it might be fixed?

I am tired of moving large amounts of GB between partitions to delete partitions just to resize them!

A:Resizing problem

Hello Ebida3 and welcome to the Forums,

Chrome has an option called "full screen mode" which can be accessed by tapping F11. But this will be full screen without tabs or an address bar.

Also, please note that Chrome remembers the size of your window from when you last closed.
To achieve this, first open chrome and double click on the top bar to get the window to maximize (or use the second icon in the list at the top right). Then hit Ctrl+Alt+Delete to open task manager, and right click on Chrome and select End Task.
Then open a new window and it should be maximized.
Good luck and keep us posted,
Nommy

Okay, so I got a new hard drive. A shiny 160GB Western Digital.
But there's one problem, I have a fresh install of Windows, and it can only detect 137GB of it. I'll be getting a broadband connection pretty soon, so upgrading my OS to detect it all isn't a problem, I just need to know what tool or program I should use to resize the last partion once I can access all of it.
I have a couple of Live Linux CD's, but I haven't gotten any of them to sucessfully divide up the HD. Besides, I need to resize a NTFS partition, so using Linux isn't desirable. The program doesn't have to be free, I'm only needing it once, so shareware is fine.

PS: Does anyone know of a place to get SP1 for XP? I installed SP2 a few days ago(before getting the new HD), and it killed my performance.

A:Resizing Partitions

FWIW: I suggest leaving things as they are...and moving all of your data files (pictures, videos, music, etc.) from C: to D:.

By doing so, you cut your risk in half...in case something goes wrong with your C: partition, it won't necessarily deny you access to files on D:.

In order to resize existing partitions in XP, you need to use a program like Partition Magic or one of the similar freeware programs. These programs allow users to resized existing partitions without loss of data.

Hey,

How would I go about resizing one partition; making it smaller, and then adding the free'ed up space to the other partition? I am currently using Windows XP. Could someone please help me as soon as possible, thanks.

PS: I do not want to buy software, I will use free software if I have to. Thanks!

Hi,

I was wondering if it were possible to resize/reallocate my partitions (via GParted)
I currently have a 240GB HD which is foolishly only allocated 10GB to my Windows boot. I'm down to around 100MB of remaining space. Is it possible to extend the size of the first partition (Windows) and shrink the other?
Or do I have to simply reformat and repartition it all...

Thanks!
